So, I've been itching for a zombie roleplay, and I haven't really seen any, so I'm going to set one up! Before I set up full on details and character requirements, I'd really like to see how many people would be interested in a mystical zombie roleplay. What I mean by this, is that rather than a virus, it is a curse that spreads from a zombie to a person they have slain. What/who triggered that curse? I can't give away secrets. But! What I can tell you is that a bite or scratch is not a death sentence, there are a few extra methods of defending yourself, i.e. Magic, and that zombies must be struck in the heart to be defeated, not the head. Possibly keeping an eye on this. However, I do want to point out that "death via heart wound" seems like an easier way to kill zombies if you do indeed make this a modern setting. Sure, a heart is a small target, but soldiers are already trained to shoot at center mass/chest, which is where the heart is located. Not really sure how fast the virus would be able to spread that way when they can just dump ammo into the chest and hope they land a shot instead of having to fight their mindset of aiming center mass, which is typically cited as a reason why the military falls.

If you'd still want to keep the whole heart weakness though, I suggest maybe looking at Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. The zombies there die the same way but they're fighting against people with swords and steam-powered guns in industrial-era Japan.

@Kuro You make a good point. I don't think it will change anything major to stick with the traditional "death via headshot".

This is a very interesting concept and i might join! Just one question, is there a way players can play as zombies? For example, I have a character named Rei Sato, who is a zombie, but she doesn't attack others or fall apart. Can there be, like, different types of zombies? Dumb ones, intelligent ones, fast ones, slow ones.. Some that go ka-boom?

Oh this sounds cool.

How about a wizard character who attempts to find ways to break the curse? and fails a bunch

Magic is ritualized and slow in this rp. It is very low fantasy, with a severe realistic slant. It's the modern world, but magic has erupted to ruin things. You can certainly evolve into a wizards of sorts, but your character would not realize right away. And if you plan to raise the dead or summon spirits, be prepared to spend hours chanting and moving candles around is how I would describe it.

Question about that actually, what would the deal be on pre-enchanted objects like ammunition or that kind of thing? Because I’m interested, and I’ve had a depressed ‘mage’ who fights supernatural stuff using firearms with magical bullets and stuff. Essentially Kiritsugu in Fate Zero. I mean, I’d still be interested if I can’t do that, but after I saw that this setting does have magic, I thought it would be worth it to check just in case.

@Rabidporcupine There are enchantments, sure, but the idea is that in the modern world, we've lost the art of magic and it has to be learned again through trial and error, and the books on the subjects, whose rituals can be hit or miss. If you wanted to do a sort of paranormal investigator that uses a few rituals to bless tools, then go for it! As for things that exist that can currently be shot, those won't come until the zombies.

@Kuro To be fair, any zombie apocalypse needs to skim over the details of how the military doesn't instantly wipe out zombies. All it would take to kill a horde in most zombie fiction is a single Warthog on a strafing run.
