Grey was startled by the loud thud and immediately concerned about how the woman looked dead on her feet. He nearly asked if she was okay until her hat slipped and he noticed her eyes. It clicked... She was likely nocturnal. This was a night place. Yet they were still open? Why? There was that help wanted poster...

"Uh-" he shook himself out of it. "I was just looking for a quick bite to eat. Then I'll be out of your way." He did have a small handful of errands to run before he got back to his mother. If he took too long, she might come looking for him... And that rarely went well. It usually caused a panic when she was seen strolling (stomping) down the road, especially on her own. Her appearance in a town usually went a bit better when she was accompanied.

As Shina watched the group enter the Inn, she suddenly realised the danger the townfolk were in...'how can they not see that dragon following them!?' she thought as she picked up her pace and got to the Inn entrance.

Shina saw the end of a tail slide beneath the door...she slammed open the door and shouted...

'EVERYBODY YOU ARE ALL IN GRAVE DANGER!! YOU ALL NEED TO RUN...NOW!!!!' She stood there panting, sword at the ready and noticed...no-one moved. Not a single person! In fact, they all glanced around at her and returned to their drinks and banter.

'WHY AREN'T YOU LEAVING?? CAN'T YOU SEE THAT CREATURE THERE??!' Again nothing, if anything a couple of patrons frowned at being disturbed.

'What's going on here, am i dreaming?' Shina pondered to herself.

Keeping her hand on the hilt of her sword, she strode up to the bar and sat down at the end. She saw Minnow speaking to an oddly young looking man, but who was clearly a hybrid. When she was done Shina caught her attention...

@Goldeagle1221 'Minnow, how can you be so calm with that at the bar??!'

Grey flinched slightly at the loud and abrupt entrance. As the tirade went on, his shoulders steadily rose defensively and his expression became more pinched as his heart rate rose. Even his long tail curled in closer to his legs.

Usually, his mother would be the one to confront somebody like this. She'd call them an ignorant, rude peasant, and if push came to shove, she might even hiss intimidatingly at them. Grey didn't need to rely on his mother, however. He wasn't a child. He could stand up for himself.

He cleared his throat. "That's rather rude, isn't it?" he said fairly calmly, though his irritation and maybe discomfort were evident. "What exactly have I done to warrant such a reaction? How dare I fancy a quiet meal." His tail was flicking with his building irritation.

He missed being able to walk through a town unnoticed. There were plenty of odd people and races in the world, but the devilish horns and tail would never be welcomed by everyone. Really, he ought to be used to things like this by now... but he thought he'd heard Lorenstad was a diverse and welcoming place.

Shina was startled by the young man who responded to her, feeling her face blush she got out of her seat and bowed..

"I'm so sorry, forgive me, I was not talking about you but...um .you know ..nevermind"

Shina felt so bad about making a scene, it wasn't like her. She was the silent type and had never had a bad thing to say about anyone. But seeing a dragon again after so many years brought back so many memories...painful memories.

She addressed the group...

'My humble apologies on my entrance my friends. Minnow, a drink please?

Regardless of the rest of the group now, Taraah made her way into the Inn and started looking for the menu. I'll have two number nines, a number nine large, two number forty fives, one with the weird eggs, and lare- Her train of slobber inducing thoughts was derailed when some loudmouth entered and loudly proclaimed something that hit a little bit too close to home.

What she did not expect was for a random sap to take the offense personally (In honesty though, what was he?!) Which seemed to somewhat defuse the situation. Still, Taraah could not help but think she herself was actually the target of the outburst. After all, her disguise was an amulet with a simple polymorph spell. Perhaps this lady could see it?

Oh what the hell, let's have some fun, shall we? she thought, a grin spreading on her face and hunger momentarily forgotten. She snuck upon the... Wait a minute, lass, what right do you have to call anyone a creature? What are you even supposed to be?! the dragoness thought bitterly as she saw the girl's ears and tail. "Hello there!" She announced herself loudly, "Is this seat free?"

“A bite to ea— ?“

Minnow was cut off by a sudden onslaught of customers. The sudden noise caused the elf to flinch and slam her eyes shut. She held her palms against her ears in a vain attempt to dampen the assault. Minnow stayed in her strange world until her friend, Shina, came bursting towards her.

The raccoon tailed lady was barking about creatures and beasts, adamant on danger. Minnow’s head was spinning, and before she could even ask what Shina was on about, the boy at the table growled his own outrage.

Finally, the scene seemed to settle long enough for Shina to request a drink, to which Minnow simply blinked.

“Beer?”

After gathering the ingredients he needed for the delivery and ensuring that the plants were still healthy, Rudolph returns to the top of his home. The experiment room had, thankfully, returned to its tidy and sanitary conditions prior to his morning experiments. Wasting no time, he approaches the lab and sets down the handful of ingredients he needs to create the potions. The wizard then sets up a cauldron on a stand before laying down a rather thick plate of charred iron underneath the stand. He opens his hand and takes aim at the iron plate. "Fotiá" Almost instantaneously, a bolt of blue flame shot out of his hand and struck the plate. The blue flame stuck itself upon the plate and kept on burning brightly despite the lack of visible fuel. With the flame now heating the cauldron, Rudolph snaps his fingers and soon afterward a bucket of fresh water floated up the stairs from the lower floor. "Thank you." He says to nobody in particular before pouring the clear water inside the cauldron. With the water heating up, he turns his attention to the ingredients; separating the grass pods and white cap mushrooms from the snowberries and rock flower seeds.

Grabbing his mortar and pestle, he crushes and grinds the snowberries and rock flower seeds together until the two formed a chunky paste. Setting the paste aside, he brings out a mezzaluna and chopping board to thoroughly mince the grass pods and white cap mushrooms. Rudolph then places the minced items into a small crucible and set it up on a tripod over a lit burner, letting them roast. The telltale sounds of bubbling signified that the water had reached the appropriate level of heat for use. He returns to the chunky paste, and prepares two test tubes, two small funnels, and a straining cloth before he plops the paste onto the straining cloth and using his magic to telekinetically squeeze out all the dark blue juice into the funnel two separate containers in equal amount. He then reaches for a wooden ladle before carefully transfers the boiling water into the beakers until the opaque dark blue liquid turned semi translucent. Now for the finishing touch... Rudolph rubbed his hands together and grabbed his wand. With a swish and flick of his wrist, the concoction swirls and glimmers inside the test tubes before settling down and producing a faint glow.

Most alchemists would have left their brews near a mana crystal and wait for the magic to take hold and increase the potency of the brew, but Rudolph found a method used by some ancient alchemists to increase the potency of created potions on short notice. Most notably during war and battles when healing potions needed to mend wounds or to rejuvenate a caster's mana pool for that matter in a matter of moments. There's troves of useful but long forgotten spells, techniques, and other goodies waiting to be rediscovered in Rudolph's library...but that was a topic for another day.

Corking the booster potions and putting them away safely in his satchel, he uses the remainder of the water in the cauldron for the mana potions. The recipe he knew called for the distillation of the boiled water and roasted ingredients mixture. Simple enough with the equipment he had on available. Pulling out a pot lid with a cork and rubber tube installed into it, a condensing tube, and a large container it was simply a matter of waiting for the distillation process to finish. Enough time for him to decipher a scroll or two. Similarly with the bucket of water, with the snap of his fingers a couple of aged papyrus scrolls floated up from the library in the ground floor. The half-elf then takes a comfortable position on his work desk and begins to decipher the ancient text while the sounds of the outside birds chirping and the dripping of the condenser accompanied the sound of his quill scratching upon parchment paper.

Mayor Haxe

With a wave of goodbye and a well-wish of "Have a nice morning and thank you for your ever-stellar work," the mayor turned away from the moth-girl and addressed the Sangakuan. "Well, shall the three of us--" He then noticed that the other human had left them. "My, where did Ms. von Eisenberg go?"

The cacophony from a taverny building a stonetoss away drew his beady eyes and widened them greatly with even greater surprise. "Oh, Makers - what has Ms. Firetail found this time?" He dropped down onto all four cloves, turned briefly to nod for Yoshina to follow. "Oh, do forgive me. We are going this way!" The little pigman then assumed an elegant gait, though his steps carried a slight hint of urgency. He oinked pensively to himself and occasionally lifted a front foot to pat his wig into place.

The little street was virtually the only street in the town with paves, and it essentially led in two directions: east and west. It wasn't easy to get lost here, but the mayor couldn't very well leave visitors to figure out where everything was on their own.

His porcine stomach growled. The scent of rolls was thick on the air.

Shina sighed with relief when Minnow suggested a beer, sure it might be considered a bit early for a drink, but after what she had (or thought?) she had seen, she was left with a mix of emotions. Flashbacks came to her in waves, of her family, of her Kingdom. She shook her head and looked up at the kindly elf that had served her over the years, even her face looked worried.

'Thanks Minnow. I'm sorry, I don't know what's wrong with me, i'm not sure what i'm seeing is real or not! Perhaps i've been working too long over that forge. I need a break I think."

As she was talking, that familiar soft breeze came over her and soft paws landed on her shoulder.

Aw hey there Lapoo, sorry if i made you worry about me, I just thought i saw something ..odd...about that new visitor. But it can't be can it?'

Lapoo rubbed her chubby cheeks into Shina's and squeaked softly, well if she wasn't worried then maybe it was all a dream after all. As she drank her drink , she also realised that the young man was still looking at her, and she realised how rude she might have sounded.

Putting her drink down she lifted a hand out to him... I am sorry again about earlier, my name is Shina, the local blacksmith here. I would be happy to help with any of your repairs or forging needs. And this little fluff ball is Lapoo'

Lapoo looked his way and simply blinked, then took off back out of the, Shina assumed towards another bush of limberries. Lapoo was getting a bit too fond of those!

“It’s of no problem,” Minnow sighed after pouring the foamy drink.

The elf took a seat opposite of Grey and used her foot to kick another away from the table for Shina to plop into. Looking very much like her own customer now, Minnow let her forehead thunk against the table, her silvery hair splaying over the surface.

Her muffled voice came, “Oh Shina, I really need to get that help… this is too much for just me.”

Peeking up, her nocturnal eyes studied Grey’s face. “Do you need a job?”

She first tied her horse up to a nearby tree, and grabbed her wrapped Naginata as well as her bag of coins, before quickly rejoining the porcine Mayor to the tavern. It wasn't the walk itself that was interesting to her, but more so the fact that the building for breakfast astounded her.

The tavern where the Buta-Ningen brought her to was a unique building, A mixture of thatched roofing, plaster, and stone. Assembled in such a manner that befits the western architecture she has seen arriving in Struq. It might seem typical for the inhabitants of this village, but Yoshina could only marvel at the small things during her travels. The great kings and the country's armies are impressive and all, but it is the customs and traditions of the land she visited that fascinated her the most. And it seems like the interior of the tavern is just as interesting as the outside part.

"Omoshiroi." She said quietly. Marveling at the raucous atmosphere and general liveliness of the tavern, the most interesting part of everything though, was the glasses that she saw people drinking out of. Mostly some form fo ale but some of them are drinking water from the glass. She has never seen a clearer glass, nearly completely translucent. Yoshina was a bit overwhelmed by the sights, sounds and smells of the tavern, and she quietly took a seat at a corner of the tavern. Already putting her Polearm right next to her. She motions the Buta-Ningen to accompany her. "Oi! Over here!"

"Now, let's see. Croogal Eggs and Zaft Soup right?" She asked. Curious what the tavern has to offer her in terms of food. "I guess I'll defer judgement to you." She said, waiting patiently for the Buta-Ningen to order some stuff. In the meanwhile, she could only stare as some chaos was unfolding between a Tanuki-Onna and a Western Yosei by the looks of it, the Yosei offering the Tanuki some beer and she reluctantly calming down. She dozed off when the Tanuki-Onna was warning them about some dragon or something. But with the Red Haired woman seemingly joining in the fun in teasing her, she could only stare and see the commotion draw down. And being visibly interested in the commotion.

She slowly took off from her seat, leaving the Buta-Ningen for a while before approaching the trio of the Elf, Raccoon and Dragon-Lady. "Hey uhh." She introduced herself, bowing out of respect. "I've got a seat in the corner where you can perhaps calm down and enjoy some breakfast for the day? I think the Tanuki-Onna here might need it the most." She finished, gesturing at the Raccoon.

The end of Grey's tail continued to twitch while he metaphorically smoothed his ruffled feathers. His mood was still soured and he almost wanted to pay and leave, but no. Things were calming down. He took a deep breath and forced his tail to still.

"Apology accepted," he said, not having much else to say on the subject. He sipped on some of his water and set into his meal at a calm pace, recalling his table manners he rarely had to use on the road.

At the tavern keeper's unexpected question, he stopped, blinking. It took him a moment to form an answer. "Unfortunately, I'm only here temporarily... Maybe a few days. And I don't expect I'll have much free time while I'm here."

Travelling with a Royal Alligator was just about a full time job. Her majesty couldn't manage the many things she needed to without hands... Or being able to fit through doorways and do shopping and run errands. He had no clue how much wealth his mother had squirreled away- when in a town, she wanted to spend and splurge on niceties and luxuries, but once they were on the road, it was all camping and hunting. And they didn't always get to stay in towns very long. He'd go in ahead of her to try and get all of the necessities done before his mother inevitably wanted to see the place for herself. Sometimes it went well... but not typically. She was a well behaved and dignified woman, but unfortunately, her appearance often struck a much stronger first impression. Her pride and refusal to run from an attack meant he was often forced into very uncomfortable situations. He was surprised that word of her somehow didn't tend to spread much.

He mentally worked on his list of errands for the day. He'd be picking up the meat and bones from the butcher later on. He'd see if he could find a cobbler for a new pair of boots. He needed some herbs and ingredients to make more tooth paste. He needed to track down a curio or jewelery shop to find his mother a gift....

"Say, do you know where I could buy some of these croogal eggs raw?" His mother did love eggs... The bigger the better.

Oh, and that's right... It would be best if he could track down whoever the mayor was before his mother's visit to give them fair warning. That usually improved the odds of how well her visits went. "Also, could I be directed to the mayor?"

The merchant’s wagon rattled down the bumpy road, and the clattering sound woke Lady up. Have they been on their way again? What part of the day was it? Ah, morning, right. Last night she snuck out of her hiding spot - a perfect comfy place between bolts of soft cloth, hidden under a thick sheet. Quietly...

--Like a ghost!--

Quiet like a ghost, she moved around the merchant’s camp…

--No, wait, aren’t ghosts white? I was… like a shadow. Living darkness. A creature of the night!--

Sigh. The majestic creature of the night quietly moved around the merchant’s camp, stealing bits of food from sleeping humans. It was nothing fancy, certainly not the fresh Xandalian eels she was used to, but hunger is hunger. After at least partially satisfying her needs, the living darkness crawled back into her hiding spot and fell asleep.

It was just a few days since they left the city of Grada. They passed on a few villages on the way, but none of them really caught Lady’s interest. What life could a cat like her have in a farming settlement? Spend her days protecting the grain storages, hunting mice and rats and other nasty rodents?

--Eww.--

No, that was definitely not the life she imagined for herself.

The bumpy road got better and better, indicating they were coming close to civilization. Lady curiously peeked from beneath the sheet covering the wagon. It was definitely better than the last village they passed through. So many interesting scents - mostly humans, of course, but many other creatures as well, some of them completely unknown to Lady. It was certainly worth investigating. The merchant parked the wagon in a small town square and went away, most likely looking for a mayor to get a permit to set up a stall for the day. She could look around all day and still be ready to hitch her ride in case the place turned out to be just another dump.

The black cat crept out of her hiding place, running across the street and jumping up on a fence pole. It was always safer to have the high ground. Her whiskers kept twitching as she sniffed the air around her, trying to identify each scent to see what she was dealing with here. The smells coming from a local inn were especially distracting, but a lot of people seemed to be gathered there and Lady preferred to avoid crowds.

--Humans are clumsy and keep stepping on my paws. Wait, what is THAT?--

Catching a glimpse of a sudden movement in the grass behind the fence, the cat froze, her eyes squinting at the location. Soundlessly, she jumped down and snuck towards her prey, her body so close to the ground that only the tips of her ears were visible above the grass. Perhaps it was a bird? Lady didn’t really love raw food, but birds were somewhat acceptable. Fish were better, but who would jump into cold water to catch them?

Her body wiggled, ready to pounce, and she jumped on her prey, claws and teeth ready. It was a dry leaf. Being in a hunting mood anyway, she kept scratching and biting it until it turned into a pile of tiny pieces on the ground. One dead leaf neutralized.

--You are welcome, townsfolk.--

The grass was full of morning dew which brushed off on Lady’s fur, getting her quite wet. Smirking uncomfortably, she jumped back up on the fence pole, elegantly traversed to the nearest building, and climbed to the roof. It was a nice observing position, plus the rising sun would have her dry in no time.

Captain
Thaddeus stood stoically atop the largest mass of his ship his hand secured on the crows nest beside him. The open sea before them flowed quickly as the a hard wind pushed them forward with an almost purpose vigor. The wind always seemed to strengthen when they were returning to Lorenstad, it was almost as if the very elements wanted to speed their journey so they may again see their families. The voyage had been long this time, The Mesmer had been out at sea almost eight months now, their journey taking them as far as the Grandline Isles, a mysterious set of islands the held some of the most exoctic spices in the great sea. His men and even he himself were ready to set foot on dry land, they had been caught in many a storms the past week and all of them were weary with exaughstion. Thomas specifically had been homesick for many days now, his usual optimism taking a hit, this was his first journey away from home that had been so long on the open sea. The passing week had been the hardest on him, he had longed for his friends in Lorenstead and now as they grew close, each day his excitement had started to rise, excited to tell them of his new adventures.

It was no big secret that Thomas was quite popular among the children of the villiage, most had never been beyond the villiage limits none the less on the sea. So it was not surprising at all that they would eat up all the stories he told and held on to every word. The Mesmer would smile to himself, it gave him such pride to think of Thomas being so happy. When he had found the poor boy he was half dead in a floating barrel, starving and cold. The boy had been on a small vessel that had been traveling through the Foghaven, a particulary nasty portion of sea that was hazardous on the best of days due to a high dence fog in the area and many large rock formations in which to strike your ship on. Even more so it was almost frequented by pirates that used the fog to hide until it was too late to run. Most chose to sail around Foghaven but someone would try to brave its dangers as it was one of the quickest sea routes to Hallenbrook Island. He never knew what sunk the boys vessel, the rocks or a band of pirates but all he knew for sure was that he was the only survivor.

~The boy will most likely not survive Thaddeus, his body is weakened from hunger and he has developed a nasty fevor due to the hypothermia." Thaddeus looked down at the young shivering boy as he crossed his arms. He couldn't have been more than five years old. It had only been a short time since they found him shipped wrecked ina barrel. From the get go his condition was dire and now they had a hard choice to make. The boy had a fever, and the chances were it was going to kill him and painfully at that. He was too young and too weak to fight it off and none of them wanted to see the boy suffer. The notion had been brought up to put him to sleep so he would pass peacefully but Thaddeus was hesitant. The boy had made it this far, there was no telling how long he had been out there but his emaciated body said days. He sighed as he placed his hand on the boys forehead, ever so slowly he would open his eyes and look at Thaddeus.~

Thaddeus remembered looking into that boys eyes and that was all he needed to make his decision, he could see the will, the desire to live in thise young eyes, the boy wasnt giving up so he wouldn't give up either and in the end he mustered through sickness and hypothermia to make it to where he was now. Jack he called himself after a famous Privateer that had many adventures and visited every island there was to visit. The boy dreamed of sailing the world and seeing everything there was to see and Thaddeus couldn't be more proud of his determination. He almost found himself a bit sad knowing that one day Thomas would probably forge his own path on the open seas, at the same time though he looked forward to the that day too. "Captain! Land Ho!" Thaddeus was broken from his thoughts as he looked up over the horizon. In the distance he could just barely see the small port in all its glory. Without even a warning there was a loud cheer and a bunch of heart laughs. Thomas was suddenly on the deck and grabbing at the main mast, climbing up it like a nimble animal and into the crows nest.

He put the scope to his eye to look at the approach dock. We finally made it Dad! I can't wait to tell everyone where we went!" Thaddeus smiled as he placed a firm hand on the boys shoulders as he too was aching to get to land and grab some well earned drinks. "Well than, what are you doing up here than!? We have work to do!" Move your arse to the deck and make sure its shining by time we reach port!" Thomas through his hand to his forehead in a salute with a huge smile "Yes Captain!, Thomas quickly climbed back down the mast as several of the crew members were now moving around preparing for port. Thaddeus clutched the rope beside him and without even a hesitant eye jumped off the mast and slid down to the deck. As soon as his feet hit wood he was barking orders, his demeanor completely changed. "Prepare the Anchor Mr. Barbosa than get to the wheel and plot our course to the docks! Batten those ropes Mr. Helgin! Lets go! You two create a detail and get ur arses to the cargo hold and start prearing the cargo for unload! We got a lot of work to do before landfall!

"Watch it damn it! That cargos fragile! If you break it than you just bought it and you get to explain why were not making our delivery to Mrs.Ester! Mr. Barbosa, supervise the offloading of those exotic fruits, the last time someone got hungry! Mr.Alzgard, check on our shipment of meats, I don't want any bad cuts to make it to Lorenstad! Mr. Helgin, check on the spices, make sure they are packaged tightly!" Thaddeus was barking various orders as he stood on the dock beside The Mesmer, his men were all hustling and bustling as crates and barrels were being offloaded. Thaddeus would look at his ledger and squint as it would blur slightly. "Damn.." Swearing lightly to himself he reached in his pocket and removed a pair of glasses, turning away from the crew he placed the glass over the ledger so he could see it. Nodding his head to himself, things seemed to be in order. For once everything was going smoothly, they might actually get outta of here sooner than usual.

As if one cue there was a loud crash, turning quickly he would spot one of the cargo crates on the dock, it was busted open and package of spice was plinking off the dock and into the water. "Damnit, get your arse in that water and grab that package before its damaged! Get those spices picked up and repacked somewhere safely! Move it!" Thaddeus put his hand to his head, it really was too good to be true, he should have never let the thought cross his mind that they might get done on time. Secretly he would smile to himself, it was, afterall, part of being a ships Captain, dealing with the mess. When you lived for almost three hundred years one tended to look at things a lot differently. In his actual youth he was a firebrand, what one would call a hot head, the various tattooing on his body was probably and indication of who he used to be. Most people who didn't know him feared him, especially because of the HATE written across his throat.

Life as a child wasn't easy on him, it was enough that his mother had died giving birth to him and his father had abandoned him when he was seven, but he had barely understood what he was none the less had the ability to control it at the same time. The earliest memories he possessed were of him craving blood, that was the worst thing back than, everytime he looked at someone he could see their veins moving, pushing blood through their body, warm, salty, delicious... there was a reason Mesmer demons would called Mesmers, mostly because their eyes could mesmorize almost anyone so that you could sate your blood lust. More often than not, he tried not to think of his childhood, he had done things that he was not very proud of, his tattoos were meant to be a reminder so that he never went back down that dark road again. "You clumsy oafs! Captain told you to be careful with that crate, Ill killhaul the lots of ya!" Thaddeus looked up as Barbosa was bellowing at some of their crew. He shook his head as he chuckled, he wouldnt trade this life for anything, even if it was full of stress sometimes. "Oh get off it ya old man!"

"WHAT DID YOU CALL ME! Ill show you an old man!" There was a chorus of laughs as the crewmates quickly vacated as Barbosa started bounding after them. Thomas was laying on top of a box laughing at the spectacle, yep, he wouldn't give this life up for anything in the world! "All right you sea rats! Get your arses working, we gotta long day of travel ahead of us! Barbosa! Let Hallen go and get back to supervising you buzzard!" The road would be long but it would feel good to get home.

Shina turned her head slowly, to be met with bright red eyes asking for a seat. Shina couldn't believe it, there, staring her straight in the face was the dragon. Bold as brass asking her for a seat?! Shina rubbed her eyes, and rubbed again, and a third time just for certain, but still it was a dragon's face she saw. She couldn't understand how no-one else could see what she could.

Her panda tail started shaking, but she kicked it under her legs so no-one could see her fear - no-one can ever see her fear.

'I...uh...umm...' Shina cleared her throat. She couldn't let the dragon see her weakness so she stood proudly and said, bowing.. Uh yes of course. I am Shina of the firetail clan. I...

Suddenly from nowhere, an image of her mother and father came into view. They stood proudly, her father, tall with a long red dreadlocks and a masterful beard. Her mother, a beautiful woman with long flowing red curls. Shina, do not be afraid, you are strong and we are proud of you. There are powers you are yet to unlock.. She didn't understand the last part but she wanted to believe in her parents as their image faded away.

Shina looked around the inn, at all the laughing faces she had grown to love, and those new ones, that would be interesting to say the least! 'Ok' she thought 'If no-one else is afraid, the least I can do is play along, until I find out more about this 'person''

...I must apologise for my behaviour, I am not feeling well' she lied.

As she spoke, she heard a new voice ask if she needed a seat to relax. She turned and saw a very attractive red head, similar to her.

That is very kind of you. This morning has certainly taken me by surprise... and I'm not often surprised! She chuckled, which felt foreign to her, given the circumstances and started to feel relaxed.

Shall we all take a seat together, I would like to hear where you are all from. She was particularly interested in the dragon's story...

Margaret / Taraah - The Other Mine

The local's reaction to her question was all Taraah needed for confirmation. If you had to do a tripple take te believe what you were seeing, you had to see something pretty damn spectacular, and there wasn't a lot of spectacular on Margaret von Eisenberg. Taraah looked this Sheena over. She wanted to have a bit more fun with the Firetail, but one of the other new arrivals butted in. Perhaps it would be better to defuse the situation and make friends for once.

"I am something of a medicine maker, maybe I can find something to bereft you of whatever has you feverish... Or worried. One thing for certain, clean air would definitely help, instead of the heavy one in the locale. Would you like to join me outside and tell me what ailment beset you?" She suggested, not giving away much but trying to hint to sheena that she was right, and that she was willing to talk outside about it. To appear more at ease, she even shed her coat and blade, hanging them over the chair, leaving only her satchel slung over her shoulder and indicating the door with an outstretched arm. "Kind lady, would you please watch our things for a little while?" She asked the redhead who came with the Mayor.

The dragon suggested Shina might need medicine. But was she ill? She certainly didn't feel that she was, and yet, she still couldn't believe what she was seeing.

'Perhaps you are right, some fresh air might do me some good, too much time spent over the forge has my mind playing tricks on me.' Minnow, I owe you for the beer, put it on my tab. I am just going to get some fresh air with our new guest. Shina winked at Minnow, her 'tab' was so many years old she feared if she ever actually wanted that money she'd be broke!

As she stepped outside, Lapoo flew through the inn doors and landed on a tree opposite. Looking bemused as to why her master was behaving so oddly she started eating limberries again. Shina took in a deep breath of air and let her panda tail sweep the leaves from the ground. As she turned back to talk to the dragon, the sun shone on a red-haired tall woman! No wings, no claws, no scales! Shina rubbed her eyes and looked around; maybe the dragon had flown away?! But it couldn't have done, not so quickly and not without making some sound.

'Wh..a...t what the..?? where is the dragon?? Did you see it leave miss?'

Lady was looking down from her rooftop position, watching the people in town. It was not as busy as Grada, with its ever-crowded streets full of people and creatures and animals and carriages and stalls and trash and whatever else comes to mind. Yes, it was much calmer here, but not completely dead. The position on the main road to Struq made sure they got a fair share of strangers here, just enough to make it not boring.

The local inn was especially busy for this time of day, many people coming in and out, each movement of the door bringing new scents that made Lady’s stomach rumble. She wasn’t really hungry yet, but one could always use a snack. Before she could decide whether to try and sneak in, two women came out. Well, one woman and one creature.

--Ugh, these mixed breeds. Seriously? You are either a human or an animal. Pick one. People with tails. Where does that lead?--

Lady wasn’t very fond of the races that took from both humans and some animals - all those snake people, horse people, bull people, even such abominations as cat people.

--RAT PEOPLE. Don’t forget about those gross rat people! The fish people on the other hand, hmm…--

Forget it. The truth was that she hadn’t really met many of them, but Miss Binklesthorpe always said to stay clear of such creatures. Belonging to the Church of the Pure, she believed that humans and animals should have never been mixed in that way and those races should not even exist. Lady had heard her preaching a million times over and had no reason not to believe her.

--What have the rat people ever done for me, hm?--

Lady moved closer to eavesdrop on their conversation. It was always good to know what was going on, just in case someone was planning a black cat pogrom. She leaped from the roof right onto a tree branch and quietly traversed it above the taller woman. They were talking about…

--THAT is definitely NOT a dead leaf!--

Something flew from the inn and followed the women, perching itself in Lady’s tree, just a few meters away from her. It looked like an odd squirrel with wings, just as black as Lady...

--Nothing is as black as I am.--

... almost as black as Lady. The creature nibbled on some fruit like a bird. Truth be told, it didn’t smell very food-ish, Lady would have to be very hungry to try and eat it, but it looked like a fun thing to play with. She crept up closer, her sharp claws scratching the thick tree bark, and her tail moving slowly from side to side to provide additional balance. The creature didn’t notice her, its attention divided between the fruit and the women below.

When she was close enough, she wiggled a bit to find the perfect position and then she jumped, carefully choosing her landing spot on a tree branch just next to the flying squirrel. To make sure she really scared it, she hissed as loud as she could and waved her front paws with claws pulled out right in front of the creature’s face. The poor thing jumped up in horror, berries falling all around as it waved its wings to get to a safe distance, squeaking desperately and looking offended.

--BOOOOO! Hehehe! Oh… ups.--

The branch wasn’t really meant to be jumped on and with a loud noise it cracked, sending Lady flying down to the ground. As a proper cat, she landed on all four, and crawled from beneath the leaves and twigs, right in front of the two women.

“Hello. I mean… Meow.”

As Shina was about to ask the tall lady what had happened to the dragon again, Lapoo came flying from her tree, berries hitting her in the face and landing shakily on her shoulders again. She gave a frightened squeak and hid behind Shina's hair.

As Lapoo flew, something else came crashing out of the tree and landing on the ground, startling them all. In front of them was a black cat, another one that wanted Lapoo for lunch again Shina supposed. It happened often, after all Lapoo was the equivalent of a dog chasing a squirrel.

'Whoah!' Shina bent down to the cat's level - as she did she felt Lapoo fly from her shoulder and back towards the workshop. Probably for the best, she thought.

'Hey there, you gave us quite the fright. You don't look hurt but try not to eat my little pal OK' Shina let out a loud laugh, you know the full from the bottom of your stomach laugh, it had been such a crazy day so far, she couldn't imagine what else was in store.

Now Shina wasn't one to pay attention to the animals that inhabited their town, there were so many that it was of no consequence if another appeared, but she felt she would have seen a cat as onyx black as this one. It looked healthy so it must have an owner somewhere.

D'Artagnan Riverwood

Location: The Road To Lorenstad

The Katorian was riding his horse making his way back to Lorenstad. His journey to and during his exploration was quite tiring. He was tasked by the museum to retrieve an ancient Orcish artifact. The location of said artifact was inside of an orc tribe’s tomb. Getting into the tomb was more of a journey than getting the artifact, the orcs were very cautious when it came to strangers going in and out of their sacred crypts. D’Artagnan was lucky he could convince the tribe’s leader that he would get the artifact, if he participated in a cleansing ritual and would go with another tribe member to explore the crypt. He respected the culture of all of the species, and did not want to discrete or anger the native people. Even though there have been many times he had angered the natives trying to protect certain artifacts.

The artifact itself was an orcish dagger from five thousand years ago. Keeping the dagger hidden inside of his coat, not wanting any thieves to take it from him to sell off to the black market. During his trip back to Lorenstad he was cautious of everyone that approached, although he was friendly enough to those he spoke to. While riding down the road he could hear a wagon coming behind him, he led his horse to the side to let the wagon pass him. Nodding his head towards one of the men, feeling something very strange coming from the one wearing sunglasses. There was something ominous, something he did not trust about this man. But he opened his mouth to say something to the two strangers. “Good daya gentleman, how are you on this beautiful day?” He spoke with a chipper sounding voice. He felt a little lonely being on his last adventure, and in his mind was excusing himself to talk to these strangers.
