makes perfect sense. makes a lot of sense. I wouldn't have it any other way, tbh! That's encouraging. @Sep

I am going on a long road trip this weekend for about a week, though. I'll be back on the 8th. So I will be participating a bit late. I hope that's not a deal breaker.

C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T P R O P O S A L
BLACK WIDOW

Natalia Alianovna Romanova Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D Here, There And Everywhere
C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T:

"I don't need a home. I don't need a family. I don't need friends. I just need to finish this job."

Where Natasha was born in Russia is an unknown, as well as her biological parents, and even her date of birth. She does not remember any of her life before being brought to the 'Red Room' so as far as she is considered that is where she was born. Here she received heavy psychological conditioning and biochemical manipulation via injection with the Red Rooms version of the 'Super-Soldier' serum, as well as various other experimental serums intended to make her easier to control and expand her lifespan. Natasha was trained and excelled in many forms of martial arts and espionage, as well as displaying excellent acrobatic ability and marksmanship with firearms, this caught the eyes of the directors of the Red Room. One of the earliest missions that Natasha was deployed on was an undercover operation in the USA, here she developed an unlikely relationship with Alexei Shostakov (The Red Guardian) and Yelena Belova (Another Red Room operative), who became akin to her foster father and foster sister respectively. Although as soon as the mission was completed they were separated, they would cross each others paths occasionally in future missions, however Natasha quickly learned that people would come and go and that no matter how she began to feel for others she ultimately would be alone in the world.

Natasha could be considered to be the key operative of the Red Room. Carrying out many assassinations on its targets as well as successfully sabotaging and gathering information on opposing organizations and governments. Although her age is unknown and she appears to be somewhere in her early 20s, Natasha has been active for years and years and has gained rather extensive experience. It is unknown when exactly it was that Natasha began to have thoughts of defection or even had a change of heart, it is not something she has spoken of but most who speculate assume it to be a 'straw that broke the camels back' situation. Assuming that Natasha had a good nature there was only so much that her heart and mind could take, and only a matter of time before the conditioning of the 'Red Room' could make up for that, or even that it could potentially be a deep cover operation from the start. Natasha has never corrected anyone on their own pet theories. Whatever it was that led it to happening, Natasha found herself making contact with S.H.I.E.L.D (perhaps Nick Fury and Colonel Rogers could have been involved) and worked out a deal to defect to them.

Since then Natasha has operated as a diligent and constantly active Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, making herself almost indispensable to them, as far as one can be at least. She has also been considered as a member of the Avengers, although currently she does not feel much belonging on a team, or even to be considered in the midst of heroes.

P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ):

I would like to play this character because it is one I have always enjoyed whether it be in the MCU movies of the comics. I am also rather intrigued with the spy aspect of the character along with the superhero one, which could allow for more diversity in story ideas like maybe a bit of James Bond or more grounded and gritty stories paired with the more traditional superhero antics.

Ideally she would start as a roaming character who shows up in the stories that other characters are driving. (I know already that there is a Batman story planned with Natasha involved, and I think that she could easily get involved with stories concerning S.H.I.E.L.D) Hopefully after appearing in a few others stories I plan on transitioning Natasha into a driving character in her own right although I don't want to start making any concrete plans for that at this moment as it could be quite dependent on how things go.

I think there is a lot of potential for Black Widow to have some history with several characters due to her history as a Red Room operative and an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, whether they were allies of enemies could also be something to consider. With that said I do not have any plans for this version of Natasha to have had any romantic relationships in her life so far, purely using her 'seductive charms' as part of her skillset on missions. I also do not plan for romance to be particularly important to the character and think their growth through story would be more healing from her past and making true friends. as well as the constant search for redemption on the way.

C H A R A C T E R N O T E S:

-My concept of Black Widow is mostly going to be inspired by that of her portrayal in the MCU, as well as somewhat by the #6 issue 2004 run, although I would like to think that I also have my own twists and additions to the character which will become more apparent through RP than this sheet.

- To start with I plan on this version of Natasha to be a rather isolated and haunted person, who through her usual charismatic and confident veneer is cut off from everyone around her.

- For equipment I plan on Widow to make use of her fancy gauntlets with many pouches that can fit in a variety of useful tools, including her Widow's Bite projectile. Along with this she will have a belt that is rigged with explosives, and likely some kind of gun and bladed weapon.

- Due to the Super-Soldier serum this version of Black Widow is clearly more 'superhuman' than her MCU counterpart, likely bringing her more in line with the likes of MCU Captain America when it comes to capabilities with Strength and Endurance. Whether everyone going through the Red Room got this or it was selective to a few operatives could be something left to be determined until it is a relevant part of the story.

- Natasha is likely still rather quick to kill on a mission, although I plan for her to become more reluctant as time goes on maybe even eventually developing her own 'no killing rule', not that anyone would take her seriously with that.

Not a particularly inspired interpretation, I will admit I mostly just took the backstory from the movie but made some slight changes to it. I hope that I will be able to make Black Widow more my own interpretation through characterization and story. I did leave a fair amount open too for anything other players want to develop with me

Honestly you wouldn't be the first to base your character off an MCU instalment. I actually had plans for Alexei to be working for S.H.I.E.L.D, if this works with you? Could prove interesting.

In a thread this busy, it's important to remember to use the tagging function, especially if addressing someone who's not a GM or else your message might be missed.

I've added the tag to the quoted message, but to my knowledge, at this time you are the only person pursuing a villain for their primary character.

@Dead Cruiser Welcome to the Old Man club.

Current occupants: Steve Rogers, Clark Kent/Calvin Ellis, Bruce Wayne.

I mean Wonder Woman is old but not an Old Man and... she doesn't look her age.

I haven't decided to make Mr. Freeze young or old yet. I did like his hairstyle in the Harley Quinn TV series. At the same time, he would be too cold to grow any hair

The version of Mister Freeze from Batman: White Knight was pretty interesting.

I mean she doesn't look her age/suffer ill effects of her age so what's she gonna do rub it in our faces she's a demigod? :P

that said I feel like not inviting her is a good way to get a door kicked down.

@Sep Wondie, Cap, and Fate were all in WWII, I imagine, though Fate was the only one that was there as a "regular" soldier.

@Mao Mao I think given that each of them is over 100 years old, and is a Magic hero, Diana and Kent are probably fairly close within the Justice League, and could go on to found Justice League Dark together if that becomes a thing. What do you think?

Just an interesting take, you obviously don't need to do it, but an idea could possibly be for Kent to be the Sorceror Supreme... with just the helmet of fate as another weapon in his arsenal.

If that makes sense?

@Dead Cruiser I don't think that Wonder Woman is a magic hero. More like, she has knowledge of the art and understands it since being part of Greek Mythology. But who knows to be honest. Regardless, I could see them being close since they're both very old compared to everyone else.

@Sep That's basically what I was already intending to do; I've even listed him as Sorcerer Supreme in his CS.

As an aside, I think introducing Doctor Strange as essentially his protege could be really interesting down the road.

@Mao Mao I mean that Wondie is a "magic" hero in the sense that her origin and usual enemies are generally magical in nature, what with the Greek gods and all.

@Dead Cruiser Yes but what I mean is, Kent Nelson being capable of what the Sorceror Supreme is, and when he puts on the helmet then he gets access to Fate and his abilities...

If that makes sense. It's just an idea and you're perfectly free not to use it.
