It's an enjoyable experience, the animation and art is incredible. The way things are drawn, and some of the effects it very much feels like watching a comic book. I don't think any other Superhero movie captures that.

I honestly think James Gunn's The Suicide Squad comes very close for a live action film. The transitions were one of the best parts of the film.

I'd argue Ang Lee's Hulk attempted to capture that feel, but in Live Action.

Not claiming it's a great film... but yeah, did panel freeze cuts and some interesting visual stuff.

Yeah he really tried to make it look like a comic book. I agree I wouldn't say it worked but it was interesting visually.

Under The Red Hood is still one of my favourite animated Batman features.

I feel like Kickass 1 is underrated as well, even if they blew it with keeping Big Daddy's story legit instead of the reveal from the comic.

I really enjoyed Gunn's The Suicide Squad.

Into the Spider-Verse is one of the most visually amazing films I've ever seen.

Guillermo's first Hellboy is extremely solid.

Nolan's The Dark Knight goes without saying.

Watchmen, especially the director's cut, is an incredible adaptation and very well-written.

And these days, finally, I am more and more forgiving of Constantine starring Keanu Reeves, and feel more and more that despite mis-casting Reeves (who performs as admirably as I feel he was capable of at the time), and the obvious mistake of transplanting the character to the US, it's actually a decently-written Constantine story that hits good pillars and themes of the character and despite Reeves not being right for John, the rest of the cast makes up for it and Reeves is at least watchable.

Like a few people have said Spider-man: into the Spider-verse is an absolute masterpiece.

Also have a soft spot for Guardians of the Galaxy 2. And I don't know if it's purely because I've seen it recently, but Gunn's The Suicide Squad is already rising high on my list.

Under The Red Hood is also a blast, as is X-men: First Class

In terms of an actor bringing a character to life perfectly: Hellboy, Iron Man 1, Wonder Woman 1, and Superman The Movie.

In terms of capturing the essence of a character and the world he lives in: Spider-Man 1 and 2.

In terms of creating a memorable style and doing something interesting with well-established characters: Into the Spider-Verse and the actual version of Justice League.

In terms of sheer popcorn entertainment: the first Avengers, The Suicide Squad, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

In terms of just overall "this is a good movie regardless of genre conventions" quality: nothing comes close to The Dark Knight.
