Question:

Did anyone who submitted and got a CS approved NOT get the Discord link?

@Martian
Your stats are a little high. Not factoring racial bonuses (dex +1), there are a total of 78 points that can be plussed and minused (starting at 13 each) at a 1-1 ratio. You've spent 79. Simple oversight, I make them all the time. Stuff happens. The other issue is that only one stat can be increased past 15 at a 1-1 ratio. If you want to raise a second (or third) past 15, you have to use a 2-1 ratio. Unless my math is wholly off, everything was done at 1-1.

Additionally, and purely from a roleplaying aspect, I could not help but notice that your 3'8" Forest Gnome is rocking a rapier, in addition to a shortsword and two daggers. Your average rapier is 31/2 to just under 4 feet long. I can't find a rule that says you can't use one, so no problems with game mechanics. That being said, his rapier is as tall as he is. Shortswords - around 2 feet overall. Not as big a deal. I look forward to the descriptives in social interactions and combat.

Yeah, I thought about that concept at first. But then, does that mean that a dagger should do the damage of a shortsword when in the hands of a Halfling, just because he's smaller than a Human? A rapier sized for a smaller character might very well be an arming sword, which by all rights has the stat block of a shortsword. Finesse, 1d6, etc. I'm not completely against the concept, but if you're doing 1d8 finesse with a meter of slim steel that requires martial training, half that length of blade that also requires martial training trades out the higher die for the Light property.

@Lucky@Dragoknighte@Su@rivaan@Remipa Awesome@Rapid Reader

Ladies and gentlemen, children of all ages, we have come to a very special time in the life of an RPG. Specifically, the birth of this one. So while we ask the site to grab our hand and push whilst avoiding slipping on the puddling amniotic fluids therefrom, we should at the potential greatness of this mewling, fussy, blood-and-snot-covered tax write-off that's being forcibly excreted in front of our very eyes, catch that baby with open gusto, and snap a pair of scissors across the cord that binds it to static mediocrity.

Yes, dear reader - we begin.

Now to go over a couple of basics. Starting today, you have seven days to get your first post out. It must be at least two well-developed paragraphs. From there, you are on a counter. One post every seven days. When everyone has posted once, I will provide an update. Again, at least once a week. If real life stuff gets in my way, I will let people know. Refer to the original OOC post for your responsibilities along the same lines.

This is your opening post, and it will help set a tone for what follows. You have the setting, you have the NPCs involved, and virtually any scenario (that isn't too disruptive) can occur explaining what happens before you set foot into The Infamous Pear. How did your character receive the letter? From where did you arrive? Were you already in town, or did you come from a ways off? Are you divulging anything about their story from before this auspicious hour? Do you arrive in the shadows, with a merchant caravan, or with self generated fanfare? Any outlandish rituals or places they want to stop before going to the meeting place? Run with it. So long as your post ends with your character inside of The Infamous Pear, ready for the meeting.

Technically, one could say that they were already in the tavern, write their two well developed paragraphs, and that's that. It's a workable option.

One thing to consider, and please do, is that if you have short interactions with named NPCs, run it by me for reactions. Unnamed NPCs and your basic townsfolk, if it is done for the sake of flavor and not advantage or for effect which may involve dice rolls, are up to you.

Above all, this is your introduction! Have fun with it.

Congrats on getting the first post in. In the future, please get permission to edit IC posts. And if you would, please only color code your character's text. We're working out those bugs; I am sure I will find my own when dice and combat rotations start (and call me out if you see them). But overall, that takeaway here is congratulations for getting the first post of the RP up. Huzzah!

According to the marker at the top of your IC post, you edited your post two minutes after it went up. I'm sure it was just a spelling error or code fix. Nevertheless, edits without pointing out reasons clearly is a slippery slope. I have had players use this as an opportunity to make more impactful changes, both subtle and obvious, to their posts for the sake of covering up, altering, or adding additional activity. In and of itself, this instance no big deal. Just ask and let me know why. Working out the bugs and providing examples for others as we move forward.

It is also the 7th point in the General Rules that you agreed to when you submitted a CS.

I see. It was definitely just to fix grammatical errors as I type a million miles a minute and often skip entire words. Usually if I do any edits it will be immediately after because I read my posts for that exact reason. I'll try to remember to put it in the OOC when I do so.

So I thought I had the math right. Below in the hider is my attempt at explaining my stats.

So if my math is off let me know. I think the issue was you didn’t note that Gnomes get a bonus to INT.

As for the weapons, I don’t know. I’ve never played a small character before. I just assumed that like his armour, it was appropriately sized for a Gnome. I am not sure if that would affect its stats, I think that would be something you as the Dungeon Master would have to make a ruling on.

Hopefully that sorts out my character. Please let me know if anything else needs editing/explaining.

Nope, you are absolutely correct. I very much did not factor the +2 INT across the board for Gnomes. Putting this in, your numbers are good and crunchy. Please feel free to move your character over to the CS Tab and get your introductory post post in the IC at your leisure. Welcome to the region of Avonshire, in all of its Avonshire-ness.

Alright, @Sigil, I should finally be done here. Nothing more serious to edit. Grammar checks out, and I've included everything vital to present the PC properly. If I do anything else, it'll only be way later and likely only be expanding his "Extras" section and maybe smoothing a couple things over if better wording occurs to me.

As is though, 100% complete!

As for the story itself, I'm really enjoying these PC intros so far! The only one I haven't gotten around to finishing yet is Victoria the Bard, but the opening paragraphs of that one are actually pretty funny. XD

Looks in order. Please copy your CS over to the CS Tab, and you are now open to post in the IC. Welcome to the magical and spiffy region of Avonshire.

And I think that was the last one in who submitted a CS. Congrats folks, we have our starting party. Huzzah!

As an example, and so as not to be a hypocrite:

@Sigil
Hey, I caught spelling and sentence errors in the third and sixth paragraphs of my post, respectively. It's driving me nuts. Do you mind if I edit my post to fix it?
