What is [ DEAD PRAIRIE ] ?
Dead Prairie is a collaborative group roleplay centered around Hvass, Illinois, a meager rural farming town formerly of an odd two to three thousand during the wake of a supernatural event in late 1994.
On the night of October 7th, 1994, a great fog encompassed North America, rolling over from the eastern seaboard. The death toll from this event would grow dramatically; the following chaos claiming countless lives as people were caught off-guard by the thick that had appeared seemingly out of nowhere. For many who survived the initial fog, these people came to be referred as the lucky unlucky—lucky enough to lose their lives before what would come next.
When the fog had dissipated, it became clear that the fog was not the only dangerous threat outside. Mysterious beasts, humanoid but not quite human, had begun to appear, building nest-like colonies in where humanity once resided. One such colony had been in Hvass, having been eliminated at a great cost of human life.
Since then, Hvass has become a shining beacon of hope for the few still living. With a chunk of the town corned off, things seem to be looking up as winter fast approaches. But you know how the saying goes—the night is dark and full of terrors. Always.
The [ RUNDOWN ] and the [ RULES ]
- When making a character, do consider them being a local or in town at the time of the Fog first. Remember to keep in mind these are extremely dangerous times. If you aren't prepared or don't have the advantage, getting caught is likely a death sentence due to the raw power and bloodlust the creatures have behind them.
- The creatures, be they known by whatever name your character calls them, seem to be nocturnal and prefer to gather in places that are cold, damp and/or dark. That said, it isn't unusual to see small groups of stragglers out in the day. Just remember not to disturb the rest that may be lurking nearby.
- Hvass does not actually exist. Despite being a fictional town, however, much of it is based on your run of the mill towns and cities scattered through the Midwest—something to keep in mind when making your character.
- If you come into this RP with a sword-swinging samurai, a gravy seal wannabe soldier, or anything of that nature, your RP career is automatically forfeit. Same goes for those who game the system by RPing a cop or active military.
- Quality over content. Generally, you should be capable of posting a few quality paragraphs once or twice a week. That said, the GM team isn't much of a stickler with these things. Everyone has lives outside of RPG. If you're planning to ghost after joining, though, steer far and clear from this RP.
- Face claims are to be picked from real actors. No anime, art, etc.
