R U L E S

The rules are simple, and in this game you only require a sheet with a name alongside a short appearance description that you put in a hider that you can either post in the CS section or your IC posts.

D I S C L A I M E R
Please try to keep things somewhat serious, I don't want things to devolve too quickly.

In an RTD actions are declared by bold and/or underlining the action in your post you want to take for me to roll, whereas I will roll a d6 to determine how successful you are. As such the results are as follows: 1 is where you fail so bad it may end the game, 2 is still you seriously fail, 3 is where you fail normally no bad stuff will happen (probably), 4 is a success, 5 is where your actions might be greatly rewarded and 6 can be so successful that you overshoot and potentially get more than you asked for.

It's a cold dark morning upon the streets of the dreary shantytown of Middenburg, raining heavily upon the patchwork roofing of the little hovels built closely together.

One building attracts the attention of most travelers passing through the drab looking settlement, a tavern with a colorfully painted sign upon it's front hanging above the door. It reads THE SODDEN SPRITE pictured alongside it's namesake a sprite cartoonishly portrayed as completely drunk. The sound within it is lively with laughter and the chatter of conversation can be heard, a lovely place to rest one's weary bones is it not?

Rain-drenched and shivering, Cora splashed her way down the muddy Middenburg street, cursing herself for choosing to travel at night. At least she'd made it to this town without incident. It was a miserable little place, but the tavern sounded surprisingly lively for this time of morning. Either the patrons hadn't left yet from the night before, or they started drinking here early. Eager to get out of the rain and somewhere warm, Cora stopped outside the door to kick some of the mud from her boots, then headed inside.

As you enter the establishment it's like your transported to an entirely different world, compared to the grey and dull exterior the inside is a veritable splash of colors, sights and sounds like out of a fairy-tale "Oi, welcome ave a seat. Dry yerself by the fire!" an old dwarf heartily ushers you inside, his arms are covered in runic tattoos and old battle-scars alike.

"Cannae get ye a drink?"

Cora pulled back her hood as she stepped inside, damp black hair falling nearly to her waist. She was taken completely by surprise by the shock of colors in this, not at all expecting it in a drab little town. It was so bright and cheery and colorful it was almost unsettling.

"Thank you!" she answered the dwarf, finding a seat at a table near the fire. "Do you have any coffee? Or hot cocoa? Anything warm would be nice. I've been traveling through the night." While she waited, Cora tried to subtly get a look at the other tavern patrons and see if anyone caught her interest.

[1] The surly barkeep nods at you with a curt grunt "Aye lass, one cup o' cocoa come'n up!" the dwarf then hollers to the back where a pair of double doors presumably leads to the kitchen, during that time you glance about at the clientele however everything going on is too much to comprehend, the light and noise assault your senses. You now seem to have a pounding headache.

Kitra was delighted when she finally reached a town with a rather bustling tavern. She decided to take a look inside and maybe play a song to liven the already vibrant atmosphere. Good mood might attract good fortune, she thought; so she entered the door and approached the tavern owner to let him know she was going to increase the vigor by her songs. She did not wait for his response and immediately brought herself into the center of the tavern hall.

Kitra's fingers nimbly picked the strings of her lute. Among the songs she had, she chose to begin with a comedic one, with verses mentioning a fortunate serf who bought his landlord's manor and paid his master's debt. For raising their morning vibe up, the audience should at least toss some coins, Kitra expected.

[3] As he was busy anyways the barkeep simply grunts and nods, before going back to shouting out the door. Seems he and whoever the cook are don't get along regardless you seat yourself upon a center table that seems empty and a silence surrounds you. As you begin playing most go back to drinking however some listen tentatively, and even hum along to the tune either chuckling or guffawing it certainly puts a few patrons in good spirit!

"Come on, folks, I want your coins!" Kitra thought, seeing the lack of attention she gained from the patrons. She decided to gear up with the tempo and choose the more provoking lyrics. Some of the verses mentioned a tavern in a small town with stingy patrons. She also mentioned about the grumpy owner who was probably annoyed by the incompetence of his cook. Kitra's chorus sounded like a curse, a threat that the place would go bankrupt if people were not going to shower her with fortunes.

[1] It was preposterous that you received a paltry sum, where was the gold? Why weren't the men fawning over you? Where were the women looking jealous of your talent? Were all these piss drinking swineherds a bunch of stingy morons? No you wanted more! However after singing your little ditty nobody looks particularly happy nor are their men fawning over you, the barkeep stops arguing to look at you angrily but says nothing, you get the feeling you may have gained the wrong kind of attention.

As Kitra noticed the eyes were looking straight at her, she slowly stopped her strum at put a seemingly innocent grin on her face. "Now that I get your attention, gentlemen..." said Kitra with her attempt to look and sound as cute as possible. "My name is Kitra, a venturing poet and musician and a dancer too if the price is right, if among any of you here have some adventuring job, I can offer my service to keep the happy spirit in your journey, the fee is negotiable based on how difficult the travel is." Kitra ended her introduction speech with another grin and a wink she made as cute as possible. She attempted to present the gestures of her body language as seemingly innocent as possible. She tried to decrease the tension and persuade the crowd and probably accept her for a bard job in their adventure, with a fee of course.

[3] Most if not all the Sodden Sprites' clientele spit in your direction at worst a few crack their knuckles and kink their necks glaring bloody murder, but one rather short gentleman approaches you.

A gnome with a rather large pair of spectacles and an equally large nose "I got a bit of a job, need someone to help guard a wagon on it's way up north I'll pay decently." the gnome tells you "I'll give yeh twenty-five gold now an the wagon driver will pay yeh the other twenty-five once the wagon is safe."

This place was quickly proving to be more than Cora bargained for. The colors were too bright, the people too loud, and the singing coming from that woman was just making it all worse. She tried to focus on enjoying the cocoa and warming up, but soon overheard the gnome talking about wagon escort work. Just the kind of thing she was looking for.

She got up and headed over. "I'd happily take that job. Good with a sword and headed north anyway." Good with a sword was probably an exaggeration, but Cora had a little experience, and could hold her own. Jobs weren't acquired by being overly modest, anyhow.

Lurking by a shadowy corner, Sprizzy spots an easy mark distracted by the prospect of a job. With a sly smirk, he casually ambles towards the unsuspecting half-elf and attempts to rob her of whatever he can get, without anyone noticing. That shortsword at her hip looks like it'd go for a pretty penny at the market.

Listening to the offer the gnome made, Kitra began to take interest. Even so, she considered the risk might not worth it. Besides, she was better at storytelling than swordfighting. She decided to subcontract the job to someone who could fight. "That's an interesting offer, Sir Gentlegnome, 50 golds in total and I'll guarantee your wagon safe... I'll return with some folks, the more the merrier." (1)Kitra attempted to persuade the gnome to choose her and give her the full initial payment instead of the pointy-ear lass.

Then, (2)with all the gold she managed to initially get from the gnome, Kitra went around the town to subcontract the job, persuading people to work under her. She might need someone who knows how to fight, someone who knows how to track, and someone who knows medicine..

"Twenty five for me alone, and another twenty five to share among these people I'm going to hire, sounds fair enough." Kitra mumbled to herself during her search.

As he often did Dan tried to sneak out of the small church so he could enjoy a night out on the town even though he was broke. He figured that there should be at least something to do over at THE SODDEN SPRITE even if it was just talking to people.

@spiral origin [5] For a half-orc, your fingers are quite nimble and your pickpocket skills are deft as is your hand. You lift the sword from the half-elf with ease, almost too easy but the gods seem to favor you today.

@VeyrinDay [4] He snorts wiping his spectacles and nods in agreement to your words, handing the pouch to you alone without a word but tells you to bring along the half-elf too. [2] After a short trot around Middenburg you find your presence is quite unwelcome, few people acknowledge the offer other than to spit at your feet or call you a number of rude names however after passing an alleyway your stopped by four men who are more than willing to help, to take that gold off your hands. "Oi missy your looking a bit tired from carrying a full purse. Empty it out and we'll gladly elp ye!" the biggest of the four tells you with a hand on his club "If not we can beat your pretty little face to a pulp right boys?" the other three smile with their hands upon their weapons.

@Duthguy [1] Dan just a foot out the church's doors hears a shout follow him "Brother Daniel where in the name of our god do you think you are going this night?" the voice is that of the head priest marching out behind you looking quite angry "This is the last straw, you are to pack your belongings and leave the church to seek pilgrimage elsewhere! You are to leave by sunrise!" with that he storms back into the church in a huff.

Cora listened as the songstress got more money out of the gnome to be split among hired help. It seemed like a good idea, the roads were often dangerous and just one or two people would have trouble guarding a convoy from a bandit ambush. She had some time while Kitra went out in search of more help, so she busied herself with the cocoa and the fire until she was warmed up. Just as she paid, she heard the screaming from outside. Drawn to trouble like a moth to flame, Cora darted outside back into the cold and rain.

Running toward the sounds of screams, she found Kitra fleeing from four armed thugs. "Shit," she cursed to herself. This town was as bad as it looked. She reached for her sword, and... it was gone. She looked down, finding that the sheath had been cut from her sword belt entirely. "What the...?"

There was no time to think about it. She drew her knife instead and raised it defensively in a reverse grip. "Back off!" she shouted. "This isn't worth risking your life over!"

If that didn't convince them, Cora would just have to fight them as best she could, and maybe hope help came quickly.
