@Conejitoooo Oof, you were down for a while then. Hope you're feeling better.

@Thinslayer I know that feeling when work gets in the way. Don't feel pressured to do it all at once man.

Yeah, I'm not sure I can do it all at once anyway. Still, I do need to get on top of this RP, or it'll die out by my own hand. It may help to make a schedule, or else I'll talk myself out of it.

For my writing schedule, I'll post Dragan-FunnyGuy's and Chatak-Rabidporcupine's replies today, Faust-ArmorPlated's tomorrow, then Lex & Enya-FunnyGuy's the day after that. I've messaged Conscripts about bringing Robert back into the plot, considering Dark Cloud's absence, so we'll see where that goes.

@Conejitoooo, are you down to write about an elf lady (your character) seeking help from MacKensie to defend the elvish side of Pelinor? I've been looking for a reason to have the PCs defend a city against the Witch's forces in earnest, and Pelinor looks like the best place to do it. The elves have a secret treaty with the Empire there allowing the humans to mine for iron in elvish territory, and the Witch is looking to cripple that industry.

I crippled the main antagonist by removing the elements that made her antagonism necessary. In her original story, the entire kingdom has fallen under magical mind-control, and anyone not under its control appears wraithlike and incomprehensible to the victims. The spell works by visually identifying and tracking people's faces to monitor their movements and direct them accordingly. Thus, wearing a mask or other facial covering for a long enough time is sufficient to counteract the spell. Shortly before the spell's infrastructure was completed, the king launched a raid on the estate of the only two people who could stop him: the Witch and her husband. Not knowing she was also immortal, they executed her and captured her immortal husband, the man who would later become the main protagonist of the story. Enraged, the Witch travelled north to raise an army and conquer the kingdom to free its people and her man from the magical mind control.

Due to the shadowy, wraithlike appearance of the Witch and her followers, and the traumatic way those she masks break free of the mind control (seizures and frothing), the populace widely believes her to be villainous, especially since communication with her is impossible due to the magic. While the Hero clashes with her, he also unwittingly aids her cause by saving lives and bringing down Demi-Archons, through whom the mind-control spell is amplified and transmitted.

Since mind control is incredibly difficult to orchestrate and hide in a multiplayer RP, I attempted to remove it, which pulled the rug out from under the entire plot. So a rework is in order if we're to revive this thing.

Maybe we could do a dedicated nation RP, in which the PCs are all immortal Archons charged with the task of preparing the world to survive a Void invasion due in a hundred years. With humanity in a Bronze Age and all the nations fragmented, the players have a challenging task ahead of them.

I enjoy the idea of a nation RP, but let me pitch you this idea: So like an isekai but a nation RP where Fantasy Races are pulled into a world where they must survive as a people or be wiped out completely. Just an idea..

I dunno I just think maybe we need to come up with a different story, something new and unique. We should let the world start as a blank slate so the story can be told through the actions of all players.

First however we need to obviously start a new thread with better structure than this, no offense. The title is awkward looking and the OOC needs to look sleek as fuck. I'm not dissing Coneji but a LOT of people pay attention to the structure.

I'm sorry for not responding sooner. I was mulling over what the reboot would look like. Half the problem with the RP was that I didn't adapt it for group play effectively. In the original story, the Witch raised an army to rescue the mind-controlled denizens of the land from a tyrant king. The mind control caused any citizens who opposed the king to appear as a twisted, shadowy wraith, identifying them mainly by face. If your face was covered for 12 or more hours, the magic wouldn't work, so facial coverings were illegal. The Witch noted this weakness and devised a counter-spell to induce failure immediately upon face-covering with a mask. From the citizens' point of view, being masked was horrifying - the victims would fall to the ground, thrash, and foam at the mouth like they were having a seizure, and would be unable to remove the mask while it did its work. The male protagonist thus awakens in the kingdom believing the Witch to be evil.

I ripped out the heart of the original story to try and make it work for group RP (since simulating PCs under mind-control is difficult), but that also ripped out all the justification for the surrounding details. So I'll need to rework things from the ground up.

For starters, we'll want to consider giving the RP a pronounced political angle, since that seemed to grab the interest of several players. That's not to say there won't be opportunities for combat action, but politics and negotiation added a good deal of fun to the mix. So we could do a sort of nation RP based in this setting?

Some were interested in the politics and society building, others definitely had their eyes on a more heroic quest deal. Seemed like a lot in the vein of a character-centric tabletop game without the hard math.
