Hayato could only laugh. This girl. Kami. She was so ignorant. So idealistic. She had no clue. Not a damned clue at all what the world was like. Sputtering nonsense like there cannot be peace without war. As if things were as simple as good and even. Black and white. Laughter. Yes, laughter, that was all that echoed throughout Hayato for the moment. He dropped his swirling ball of death to press two fingers to his forehead, trying to regain the composure that this girl had knocked out of him with such asinine comments.

It only got better, too. This girl spoke of perfection, the flaws of humanity - emotions as if they mattered.

Hayato, despite his laughter, allowed his metallic balls to continue floating mid air. He may have been entertained, but he was not one to completely let his guard down. Within the White Noise Zone of his balls, he could sense every vibration in the air. If the girl moved, he'd know it and find a new way to knocked her down. He surmised she could sense chakra as well, thus knew that he had his chakra in the entire area around him, and was pretty sure she wouldn't make an attack when she was quite literally enveloped by a threat that, for the moment, wasn't being aggressive. At least, not yet. It did take a few more moments for Hayato to regain his composure. This girl, her age he forgot, spoke of things that grown men tried to speak of and still sounded like idiots. She was no different.

'Youse a fuckin' idiot," he told her, still chuckling. "You t'ink that war was jus' black'n'white, right'n'wron'. Youse think, youse really think, dat Gen-Oh-Side jus' happened? Like an' on-off switch Sai jus' happened to flip on?" he half-yelled at her, his voice only raised because of a type of maniacal laughter. "Let me tell ya why history rarely gets tol', girl. Let me tell ya the big secret we keep from ya. Ya see, I was part of Ame. Same place Sai came from. I met'm. I knew'm. Not well, but I knew'm. Mother fuckah was so nice, you'd never guess he was e'en a shinobi, an' never carried weapons. Wore this formal gown, too. He was a war hero, too; before his sensei took o'er, his squad was called Owari. Meant teh end. Literally, girl. Ya see, Sai was a beast. Teh Sage seals we hunt? Dey're part of him. His flesh. Bits of'm using ungodly jutsu that make men into monsters t'at Kage fear. Senjutsu is what it's called, but lemme tell ya girl, it ain't natural...

His tone changed. Greatly. Hayato was transitioning from his rage to what seemed like partial admiration. "But Sai made it work. He was a medic-nin, jus' like yourself. He saved thousands of lives. He was called teh Storm Dragon. His brother was teh Sea Dragon, and teh last part of his squad was the Star Dragon. Teh brought honor to teh name Dragon, and in Ame it was teh highest rank. We looked up to'm. Even got to meet'm when we got out of teh academy. Sai ended up bein' teh Ame ambassador to Konoha, an' had this girl here he fell for. And dat's jus' it girl. No one truly knows what 'appened, 'cept Shin. Shin was dere. He saw what turned Sai into teh man you know. Teh man every single person hates. Shin don' ever talk 'bout it, but lemme tell ya dis: Shin is Sai's nephew, an' still betrayed him. Shin 'as killed two Jounin here already 'cause dey asked too many questions. Whate'er happened to teh guy, it cain't be toll jus' by words."

"But let me tell you dis. Teh Second Great Shinobi War was started right here in Konoha. Dey broke off from Ame and Kumo, but Kiri and Iwa jumped in, as well. Teh whole damn world was fightin'. When I lef' to hide in Suna, it was only 'cause Konoha had us Ame-nin on teh run an' the new alliance made by teh Dragons took no prisoners. Ame kicked'm out 'cause teh Kage wanted to try an' side with Konoha. That is the war I talk about. Not teh one you t'ink of. The Gen-Oh-Side you t'ink you know so much about didn't happened 'til Sai took o'er, and no one knows what teh 'ell happened to'm. I know, girl, I was dere. So when I tell youse it was a pointless war, I fuckin' mean it. But takin' down Sai after what he did... youse right, girl, he deserved it. But don't chu fuckin' act like youse know what happened. You only been tol', but chu didn't see. You didn' fight. You didn't run fo' yo god-damned life 'cause no one would harbor yah, an' you didn't see all the pain a' war from teh sidelines. . ."

The sense of nostalgia left. It was replaced with despair. It became obvious that somewhere in his storytelling, Hayato lost himself to his own pent up rage. His own faults as one might say. Hayato threw away his years as a prodigy, his youth, to run in hiding. To stay hidden in desserts and to live a meager life. That was taken away by far more than Sai. That was taken away by every single person who fueled the war. Hayato and his youth was stolen, and he had all the rage in the world for it. "If youse wanna make it in dis worl', you gotta see it foh what it is. Dere was far more den jus' one sinner corruptin' teh worl'. None'ah dis would've e'er came tah be, girl, if the generation before us could've jus' handled demselves a bit better... it wasn't jus' one man, no matter how much evil he did. An' I'll be damned if I jus' listen to one lil girl tell me 'bout peace'n'war when she don't know jack shit 'bout either."

Laughing. He was laughing at her! He couldn't just state his opinions and have Kami accept them. Nor would she wholeheartedly belief anything this man said. After all, she had watched him apathetically harm children. Kami rolled her eyes. If he was here, basically pinning her to the wall, how did he expect her to act? Yes, sensei? Whatever you say, sensei? No. Kami would observe his actions and take note of his words. She was going to take everything he said with a grain of salt. There were probably truth behind his words. Hayato had experience another part of the war that Kami hadn't. Although Kami was almost certain Hayato hadn't experienced the part of the war that Kami had.

"Did," Kami stated, poking Hayato in the chest again. "I ever said it was black and white? Everyone knows rumors and stories about his lover. Everyone knows Sai was a good man. And there were factors. There are always factors. But that doesn't change the outcome. People were dying and it wasn't right." She wasn't really arguing, just stating her opinion on the matter. Sai had an idea, a beautiful idea. However, life had corrupted him. As soon as he started a genocide, his beautiful idea had been defiled. "Sai had been a nice man, but nothing justifies genocide. Nothing justifies the death of children." That was Kami's biggest Pet Peeve. The genocide had targeted innocent people, including children, and it was awful. People had to hide or change their names. Kami was one of the lucky ones. She was simply someone from a non-impressive clan that specialized in medical ninjustu. They were healers, not warriors. They had never been a threat to Sai or his reign. Kami's family, including her father who specialized in taijustu, had always been safe. Or safer than most anyway. Kami would never understand the horror and fear of hiding from certain death. But she had watched it, had seen the outcomes. Kami had never experienced that fear first hand but she had seen the outcome since she was little. Since she was a little child, she had seen the mangled bodies brought to her mother. And, eventually, bodies were eventually brought to Kami. It was an awful sight, but... Kami loved it. She loved being able to take a mangled body and make it into something that resembled a human again. She loved watching that person awake; she loved watching them heal.

Kami's hand flattened out, over Hayato's chest. His personality was off but, as Kami had seen from all people from similar situations to Hayato, that was common in someone who had experienced such trauma. She sighed. No amount of pain or fear could justify how Hayato acted, but Kami could understand the trauma. She suspected PTSD. However she highly doubted Hayato would be the type of person to volunteer for counseling or psychology evaluation. "I'm not saying Sai deserved it. You can add up all the good he did and all the evil he did and never know if he really deserved it." Gently, Kami tried to push Hayato away. "I just think it was necessary, at the end. I think Sai realized it too." Kami hadn't experienced Sai's death or witnessed it. But this was now part of their history. And as Kami did with most things that intrigued her, she had studied it and forcible interviewed anyone she could get her hands on.

She kept speaking. On and on she kept speaking like she had input. This girl could not listen. She would not learn. It was irking Hayato to no end. She even tried to argue with him, or refute him. She had obviously just spoke as if things we--

She touched him. At first, a poke. But then she put her whole hand on his chest. All five digits. This girl, this little girl, seriously did not know her place, and Hayato was right about to teach it to her. He ignored the rest of what she said and simply grabbed her hand. At first, seemingly sincerely, folding his fingers across it, but only for a few seconds before he slipped his index finger around her ring finger and his thumb gently inside the crest of her finger... and pushed.

Snap.

He broke her finger. Bent it back completely, nearly making it touch the back of her hand. His strength was overwhelming in comparison to hers and his free hand was ready to retaliate to any offense she may have using his White Jacket Insanity. He didn't let go, either. Instead, he just slipped his fingers over to her middle finger and pressed on it, torturing her and letting her see her own blood drip down from the stub of a finger she had left. He didn't break it, but he could. He would, too. She had to be put in her place. Roughly. She literally was just too stubborn to hit an epiphany, so Hayato was going to force it on it.

"No one can hear youse scream, mon cheri, but do try for me. You need not only punished for chur insolence, but for... dat ignorance. Tell me, what makes chu tick, girl? What makes lil ole you think chu can talk to me like chu do? Some books? Maybe 'cause you heal teh half-dead? Seen a some bodies, 'ave'ya?"

"You t'ink what chu know matters, but it really don't... ya see, even teh shit I seen ain't nothin' to someone like Kirugetsu or Hosuka. You bes' be steppin' down off yo pedastal real quick like."

Instead of backing off like any sane person would do, Hayato grabbed her hand. She wasn't stupid enough to think any good could come from that. All Kami knew was that this man couldn't be her sensei. She wasn't accept the torture of being his student. Like some young genin who was easily manipulate and had a mind to mend get Hayato. Obviously, the man didn't seem to realize the difference between a young genin who hadn't been apart of the war efforts an a chuunin that had been in the middle of it. She had been on the sidelines, but she had watched. Watched alongside her mother until someone else was brought to them. They hadn't been able to save all of them. Kami could still perfectly visual her mother's hands covered with her father's blood. That had broken her mother and Kami... Well, Kami couldn't afford to break. She had to keep going, keep encouraging her mother that she was interested in medical ninjustu. Kami couldn't have a career out in the battle field; she couldn't do that to her mother.

Snap.

Kami winced, immediately relaxing her hand. If she tensed her hand up, it'd only hurt worse. She needed to be still until Hayato released her. Besides, this would be over eventually and Kami would march up to Hosuka and chuck her ninja headband at him if she had to. Kami didn't need to be a ninja. She could simply continue learning from her mother. Eventually Kami would be a doctor. She didn't have to go with Hayato. If Hayato though she'd humor him by screaming, he was delusion.

"A book?" Kami asked, forcing out a laugh. Her eyes were watering but that tended to happen when a finger was broken. She wouldn't cry or scream. That would mean Hayato had won. "A book would tell me you were dealing with an overactive id or your ego is not working probably to balance out the id and superego. Or, maybe, another book would tell me you were dealing with PTSD." Kami explained matter-of-factly.

She would probably regret it but Kami wasn't going to let this man get away with bullying her. "But me, I just think you're an asshole. Probably something," Kami pointed with her free hand to Hayato's head. "Up there isn't working right. As a book would tell me, your superego isn't doing a very good job of providing you with guilt." Hayato could break her whole hand if he wanted. Kami wouldn't even be useful to him until she was healed. Even her taijustu would be off. Except, her importance to him no longer mattered to Kami. Hosuka was going to face a really ticked off Kami. And Kami was her mother's child; it wouldn't be pleasant. "What makes me tick?" She couldn't help it, she busted out laughing. "You came here and instead of simply introducing yourself nicely, you attacked the children I was healing." This is what had set Kami off. She wouldn't even had gone on this tangent without that event.

"Those children were in my care. It's my job to make sure they were healed." Kami paused. This man wasn't going to understand. No matter how much she tried to explain, she was pretty sure she was going to have to start counting on her toes. "It's also my job to make them feel safe. They were injured and scared. The whole Division B was wiped out!" Okay so now Kami was raising her voice. But she couldn't help it. "They were already scared. They're new and young. They're afraid of enemy ninja." She looked down at the blood rushing for her finger. Her mother was going to be so angry. "But, because of you, they'e now going to be afraid of their allies." Without trust, there wasn't even a point to creating a new generation of ninja. They were all going to be frightened and paranoid. Did Hayato not understand this? "Bad things happen when people are paranoid. Especially when those people are so young and have weapons." Even Kami wasn't old enough to have the decision processing part of her brain fully developed. These children... Paranoia was a plague. Kami hoped it wouldn't spread to far.

Snap.

Another finger. Pain is fleeting. But Kami would never forget and she'd definitely never forgive. Once released, she was going to file the biggest complaint.

She now insulted him. In truth, if she would've just done so beforehand, Hayato most likely would not have been so enraged. It was common if not expected of youth to act in such a brash manner, but the audacity of this girl - this fifteen year old girl - had in arguing with Hayato over topics she had no true grip on pushed him much farther than it should have. Hayato should have never been made a sensei if the Konoha youth acted with such a superiority complex. Hayato came from Ame. In his youth, you did not question what you were taught like she did. You did not act against your sensei with such conviction. You were being trained for war, not just sitting aside to watch it. This girl had done it. She had pushed Hayato too far.

Hayato swung the Kami by her arm, positioning her in front of a window that he then kicked her out of. Several stories down would be a harsh descent of not a lethal one for most, but Hayato knew the girl was a healer, and at this point he didn't want to risk it. He didn't want to risk her survival, that was. Hayato pursued Kami out the window, retaking her hand only to blast her in the chest with a Decapitating Airwave, multiplying the force she traveled through the air exponentially while simultaneously ripping off her right hand from the wrist as well as shattering part of her radius. Before she even hit the ground, Hayato fired a second-mid air Decapitating Airwaves at her, then darted off realizing the collateral damage he caused would most likely be easily seen.

"Hosuka shoul''ve nevear given me dis job..." Hayato muttered as he shot out like a dart, heading West through the woods of Konohagakure. He had his White Jacket Insanity activated constantly, fleeing at nearly the speed of sounds. What 'police force' Konoha had at this point was still arriving at the scene by the time he had easily left the Konohagakure border and was traveling through the Land of Fire. Hayato was sure of it. He'd be an outlaw, again. He never did fit into Konoha anyway. It was too soft. Everything there seemed all wrong. Too much structure, but not enough discipline. Or, maybe the harsh desserts of Suna made him just plain too strict to ever live outside them as a shinobi. Most of the time, he was carefree, but the moment he became serious, he always took things too far. In the lonely desserts, you had to. In war, you had to. In a place like Konoha, a man like Hayato was far out of place, and this only proved it.

The pleasant meal was interrupted by folks screaming outside. "Son of a bitch... I swear, it's always when things calm down th-" Kirugetsu's Water Clone was instantly dissipated and he stood up from the table to walk outside. In all their walking around, Kirugetsu hadn't realized just how close Toko's was to the hospital. They had turned down alleys, doubled back a couple times, criss-crossed streets, and ended up there by chance. Just as he walked out, a blur of a man rushed by him. For the briefest of instants, the Hozuki's eyes met with the one who made the blur. ... Hayato? Running AWAY from screaming people? Something didn't add up here. "Maruki, get the rest to go. Something just came up and my guess is we're the closest to the scene."

Not waiting more than five seconds for his student, Kirugetsu rushed to the hospital he had just come from not an hour earlier. There were stunned onlookers staring in one specific direction. If rubber-neckers were good for anything, it was telling people where the action was without saying a word. After running to where they were staring, Kirugetsu became aware of an injured Konoha shinobi. "Of course he did... Dammit. And there's no fucking way I'm catching him now. Dammit." Reflexively and out of pure frustration, Kirugetsu slammed his mighty fist into the small storage shed next to where he stood. Normally, a Jounin's blow would dent the wall. Kirugetsu not only knew Arhat Fist, which increased his striking power... but had instinctively made a brief activation of the Hozuki Clan's Great Water Arm jutsu.

The small room nearly imploded from the force of the punch. Kirugetsu had been right there, seen the culprit flee, and done nothing to stop him. And now, he was free in the world instead of in chains and headed to the Blood Prison. The kid didn't seem to be TOO badly hurt, considering the fall and the fact it was Hayato who flipped his lid and attacked her... but she'd still require medical treatment. "Kid, you alright? Hey, talk to me." honestly, Kirugetsu sucked at medicine, and was too focused on his frustration to really take note of the girl's injuries. "Someone get a medic over here NOW!" ... the shouting was unnecessary, as a pair of doctors were already walking up with a trio of nurses in tow who were carrying medical instruments and such.

Hopefully the girl wasn't too bad off. That was the thought that occupied the Jounin's mind as he slammed his head against a nearby wall. He'd had the chance to stop Hayato when the bastard pissed him off not even a day earlier! He could have said it was a friendly spat gone awry! But instead, they had exchanged blows and then split up. The most typical of sparring sessions... could have had a slight twist, and a young shinobi wouldn't have been hurled out a window and attacked by that crazy asshole. Kirugetsu KNEW that the war had been tough on Hayato... but for the guy to snap THAT badly, not even Kirugetsu, who had been through two wars and seen much more death, would ever attack an ally in such a manner.

He would pay.

As Hayato grabbed her arm, Kami scowled. What was the man going to do now? Break her arm? Pop her shoulder out of place? He. Was. Insane. Not even post traumatic stress disorder could explain the amount of crazy. He had harmed innocent children and had broken Kami's fingers for simply stating her opinion. "What?" Kami snarled. "If you didn't want to hear me call you an asshole, then you shouldn't have asked." Honestly, Hayato had brought that upon himself. Although... not exactly. He had asked Kami what a book would say about him and she'd told him. But, really, no amount of crazy or trauma could excuse his actions. Kami was going to sit Hosuka down and force him to listen to her if she had to. It wasn't like she was without witnesses. They were still in the hospital. There were people everywhere and those genin could easily testify.

As Hayato pushed her towards the window, Kami got with the program. She was going to be tossed out; chucked down a couple stories. As Hayato went to create his blast, she used her free hand to stab into his inner elbow. Hopefully, pure force had been enough to incapacitate the nerve and paralyze Hayato's arm. Quickly, Kami would slide her arm out of Hayato's grip. She couldn't lose her hand. Falling out of a window was one thing but without her hand... Well, if she had failed at doing the move, Kami just hoped it was possible for her mother to reattach it. She didn't have to long too worry about if her hand was still attached or the pain in her chest before her body was rushing towards the ground. Relax. Kami focused on her body, relaxing each muscle at a time. Surviving such a fall was absolutely possible as long as Kami didn't tense her body up. The looser it was, the less damage the fall would do.

It still freaking hurt though. Kami didn't really remember much of the next few seconds or hours- she couldn't really tell. However, she blinked at someone approached her. Was she alright? Kami laughed, wrinkling her nose. "Just peachy." She replied. Sarcasm was definitely the way to go. Otherwise... Well, otherwise she would have to acknowledge all the pain she was in. "How bad is it?" She impugned, wondering if she could just ask this guy to go find her a needle or a thread. But, by the way the doctors and nurses were heading towards her, that would probably out of the question. Kami lifted her uninjured hand and started to heal herself. Her mother was going to murder her. She'd take one look at Kami and finish the job.

Not even five seconds after the two Shinobi that enjoyed their meal heard all the ruckus outside. Kirugetsu walked outside and yelled at him "Maruki, get the rest to go. Something just came up and my guess is we're the closest to the scene." Maruki took some doggybags and shoved all the food in it. Fast but careful. Walking outside he didn't see his sensei at first. He saw someone dashing in one direction then saw his sensei in the other. It looked like there was a shinobi badly hurt, by the man that dashed into the other direction?

Maruki took a look at the injured shinobi, a girl and she was in a pretty bad state. "byakugan" whispered Maruki. He looked at the injured girl. It might have looked severe from the outside and she had quite some bruises but nothing really serious. "she'll be okay" he looked at his Sensei who took a look at the girl. Then he stood up, his face was getting red and he smashed a stall into tiny pieces. Maruki was shocked and surprised by the huge explosion of power and anger emitting from Kirugetsu. Judging from his reaction, He knew who had done this "what shall we do sensei, go into pursuit? I can track him with my byakugan, do you know who might have done this?"

The very Earth itself shook for a moment. Maruki, with is Byakugan, could see chakra that even dwarfed that of Kirugetsu filled a large area around them, all before hundreds of thick wooden planks erupted from it and shot out at Kami. They enveloped her in a jutsu that would sent most around her into fear due to hysteria, but Kirugetsu knew it; he had fought alongside it. It was a rare one to see, and it was one of the pinnacles of medical ninjutsu. It had saved the lives of people torn in two and was the closest thing to a resurrection jutsu there was. More importantly, it's only known practitioner was Hosuka Uzumaki: the Hokage.

"She lost her hand, and nearly her life. The Tenshi no Kajitsu-Shitsu will save her, even grow her hand back since its early enough," bellowed the deep voice from a man whom sounded so final in his statement that in that single moment it was as if Kami had already been healed. "I expected this. Not from Allure, but from you, Kiru. You were, at a time, just as demanding with respect. You would never allow any of the petty replies that come from these want-to-be shinobi. Kami is ruined already. She is a chuunin outside adolescence that would have died here because she was stubborn. Shinobi cannot be that way. We are fluids to fill. Ether to exist. We are only stone when being moved would mean our death. You cannot let our next generation be like that. She will never be more than a chuunin; she is a waste of potential." It was Hosuka. No other man would speak like this, especially to Kirugetsu. Hayato would, but Hayato never spoke with eloquence.

Kami sat inside a chamber made of thick wood and a warm, viscous substance. It completely encompassed her, and suspended her. She could still hear the outside world, and even with parts of her body literally removed, she felt no pain. Cuts from the glass, broken bones, even internal bleeding and collapsed organs were all being repaired at a rate some would feel impossible through any form of medical jutsu. Fact is, Kami should have died from that fall. The two Decapitating Airwaves knocked her into the ground with enough force that it was a wonder her death wasn't instantaneous. Her removed arm only made the situation grotesque. None of that mattered; the chamber she was in was easily capable of healing it all, at the cost of her remaining a stationary target for a day or so. Without being in combat, that fact was irrelevant.

"I considered just letting her die. I know I am demoting her to genin. No chuunin in my village will be so unable to work with others that she gets herself killed because she cannot hold her tongue. She may be as powerful and useful as any chuunin in this village, but her mentality is wrong for it. Hayato is no longer a shinobi of this village. I met with him in the forest as he fled; as you know every tree in this Land is mine. I did not kill him, but he is now a Missing-Nin. Kill-on-spot, but I doubt you'll ever see him again. He's headed back to Suna where he belongs," Hosuka told Kirugetsu in a very dry voice. He sounded stern and the voice from him was as always deep. Hosuka ran entire country without question.

"Kirugetsu, I expect more from you. These children are not playthings. They are becoming soldiers. Shinobi. The reason that Hayato knocked her out of that building and wanted her dead was, as I see it, in complete correlation with the motifs of this village. His actions, however, were too far. Never will we sink that low. I see you have one of your genin. A Hyuuga. With your mouth, I'm sure he already knows the irony. I'm sure Shin had a chuckle. But, what I want you to know is that your relationship with your students will not be clouded by the past. You saw how hundreds of poorly trained runts in the resistance were chopped down. They were fool-hearty. They fought for a cause, but with no training and little conviction. I expected you to demand such, and that is why I considered placing you as a Division Head if you proved yourself with your squad. Do not tell me that your worries for the Hozuki mar your mind."

The rough look on Hosuka's face turned into a slight grin as he delved into a pocket of his to pull out a metal case.

"These are rare and have been perfected by the Nara. They are made from the blooms of a tree that before we had no idea the benefits of, and if we did, we lost the information. There are few left, but many being replanted, however they only bloom once a year, and in that time we focus more on seeding them than harvesting blooms. But, what this pill does will make it worth more than gold to you. It's rather simple, and it's a measure I set in place to assist with Clan rebuilding. It increases virility so that there is over a 50% chance children will be conceived as twins, retain paternal DNA and if used correctly will result in near-100% chance to conceive. I have had these for weeks, but was far to busy to give them to you. I found your efforts in the war and loyalty to the village merited you these more than anyone else, including my own clans. I would like for the Hozuki to be a new clan of Konoha, not of Kiri. Regardless, there are only two, in case the first fails. Use them as you see fit, and I hope this gift brings a little more focus to you."

First Hayato attacks a Chunin, then Hosuka appears, then penalizes the girl who was attacked, and THEN insults Kirugetsu?! If he wasn't already so irate at Hayato, he'd have punched that smug look right off of the Hokage's face. He had the nerve to let Hayato live, despite knowing what he had just done... and THEN declare him to be kill on sight? This Hokage was not only punishing the wrong party, but making no sense while doing it. Something snapped in Kirugetsu's mind just then. And he went from completely enraged, to calm as could be. Hosuka then went on to belittle Kirugetsu's teaching methods, tell him that Hayato trying to kill an ally was basically forgiven because he was already an asshole, and even tried to hold the fact that Division B was wiped out as a reason behind telling Kirugetsu to not let his past get in the way of training his students... which it wasn't in the first place.

To top off all the nonsensical garbage that the Hokage had just put forth, he proceeded to insult Kirugetsu's manliness by telling him he needed a damn pill to increase his virility. While a good idea in theory, the fact that he had pointed out was this: The tree that the blooms come from only does so once a year, the trees themselves were rare, the pill only works to conceive a child, with a chance at twins, more pills would be needed for more twins, the clan would be forced into inbreeding, and the fact was that the Hozuki Clan was a clan built on techniques known to the members, not on bloodline... so a pill creating quasi-clones that would later just lead to inbreeding was not needed in the first place. All that was needed was the scroll that Kirugetsu had kept secret from all but himself. The fact was that he had not found many that were able to learn his clan's techniques.

He supposedly wanted Kirugetsu to reform the Hozuki Clan in Konoha... yet knew nothing of the clan itself. This was more of an insult than even telling the Jounin that he needed to take some magic sex pill to do it. Taking the pill in his hand, Kirugetsu smiled at Hosuka before speaking. "With all due respect, Lord Hokage..." the pill was crushed in the Hozuki's powerful grip. "... unlike you, I don't need a pill to help me out in the bedroom." the dust from the pill was released, and scattered in the gentle breeze as Kirugetsu turned to his student. "As the Hokage said, it was Hayato. He went off the deep end. And no, we let him go for now. He's faster than the both of us, and long gone by now. So for now we simply go on as normal."

He sighed heavily and patted the Hyuga boy's shoulder. "Get some rest, gather your thoughts, and prepare yourself. Your first mission will occur the day after tomorrow." Not really able to focus on work at this point, Kirugetsu simply looked at Hosuka and shook his head as if to say "not now". He then walked away, clenching his fists in frustration at the days events. He didn't really know what to do other than go home. So, with the debacle still fresh in his mind, Kirugetsu wandered back to his modest house. A shower, a meal, and a bit of writing later, he came to a conclusion... his efforts to assist this village were pointless when such a failure was Hokage. There were two options... one was killing the Hokage, which he could not do with the nigh-invincible monster known as Shin guarding him. That left... only one choice.

Taking the scroll he held so dearly, Kirugetsu took a match to it, condemning the Hozuki Clan's techniques to fade from the world. If they fell into the wrong hands, the effects could be disastrous... better to destroy them than to let that happen. Then there was his blade. So enhanced by the fact it pierced one of Sai's hearts... yet still reliant on the skills of the wielder. He brought it up to his face, admiring the craftsmanship of the fine weapon. He then belched acid onto the blade. No matter the craftsmanship, the chakra-enhanced acid would dissolve it into a worthless heap of barely-recognizable slag. Last but not least, there was a final obstacle that would need removing if he was to be rid of the hypocritical and inept leadership of Hosuka. ... that obstacle was himself.

Unclipping the small blade from his hip, Kirugetsu sat it on his bed. He then took out the explosive tags from the pouch on his belt, placing one on each arm and leg... with the last on the back of his head. His will set, he picked up the tanto and jabbed it into his neck just below his right jawbone. The pain was intense, but he had endured worse over his life. Dragging the blade toward the left, he carved a lethal wound into his throat. Even then, he did not die immediately... but was fading fast. Mustering the last of his concentration, Kirugetsu focused what little chakra he could to detonating the tags he attached to himself. Simultaneously, they exploded with a great amount of force, shredding the Hosuki's body into a paste of bone chips, charred tissue, and blood. This sort of attack would even have harmed him in battle and with Hydrification active, let alone as a method of suicide and with no defenses active at all.

The force of the explosion would be felt several houses away, and likely noticed by at least one of the village's shinobi. But it would be too late, The explosions had set fire to several items in the home... and that fie had spread to the walls, the carpets, and the frame of the house itself. Any hope of salvation for the Hozuki Clan had now gone up in smoke along with the clan's prized techniques, Kirugetsu's remains, and even the powerful weapon that had been forged in two wars. A sad day for Konoha. A sad day for Team Moon. A sad day all around. Kirugetsu Hozuki... war hero, sensei, celebrity, suicide. He had given his all for the wars he fought, but in the end it was all he knew. The flames kissed the air around the Jounin's dwelling, keeping all at bay who could not use water element ninjutsu. And even they were kept back for a short time by the intense heat of the blaze.

After a short while and the liberal application of water techniques, the flames would die down. However, the home was badly damaged and the room where the suicide had taken place was a total loss. The remains were burned into ashes, destroying any shred of DNA that remained from the initial blasts. The scroll, which had already been burned before the explosions and fire, was now just as much scattered dust as everything else that had caught fire. And the remnants of the Hozuki's prized blade were mangled and unrecognizable among the rubble and wreckage of the room. The destruction was total... Kirugetsu was dead and gone, his weapon destroyed, and the techniques of the Hozuki clan lost. The village of Konoha had lost one of its most cherished shinobi... and none would know why he had chosen to end his own life.

"In no way unexpected. . .

Atop one of the many hills within Konohagakure, a man stood unmoved by the funeral pyre for the Hozuki. Dozens of shinobi tried to douse the flames, but it took some time. The Hozuki had obviously seen the horrors of Sai, as he wanted nothing left of his body. It meant very little; the division this man represented had samples of every Jounin that ever went through the Konoha clinics, and that same Jounin was just there for what he assumed was routine procedure after a bout with someone of similar skill-level. As fact, the man standing and watching the blaze had predicted this from the beginning.

"Hosuka, your predictions have been off. You expected Hayato to succeed in training at least one squad, and for Kirugetsu to last years before... this... the man spoke out, seemingly to no one. In a few moments, Hosuka emerged out of a tree beside the man as if it were no more than a doorway.

"You're right. I expected more stability. Both of them suffered from terrible stress syndromes, but I had hoped they would be far more resilient than this. I did not want to sacrifice my field shinobi to train genin. . . we are all stretched so thin," the Hokage replied back.

"The Hydrification technique is not lost to us. One of his genin managed to steal it, and our Hyuuga managed to copy it. His sword may be no more than a pile of metal, but there are smiths in Iwa that could bring it back, and most likely more powerful," the gentlemen with cross-armed retorted, ignoring half of what Hosuka told him only to inform him that their loss wasn't as terrible as it appeared.

"We'll hand him over to Kiri. Let them have his burial. Kenji, with him gone, there will be no one upset by the first step of Clan Reconstruction Division. There is no Hozuki within our borders, but we can change that," Hosuka stated before turning to the man denominated as Kenji.

"You're right. Kirugetsu may be gone to us, but I am sure we can train a candidate to replace him. We cannot imitate his decades of experience, sir, but it was his experience that led to this..."

"Indeed it was. How long will it take? Hosuka asked in a dull manner.

"It will still take years... we have to enhance the cells of a candidate to use the techniques, then teach them. Teach them the techniques, the kenjutsu, and the Acid Release will come in its own time, if it does at all," Kenji retorted.

"That is still far too long to be productive how we need it... I don't see how Sai created the forces he did in only a year. He replicated Kekkei Genkai, not just advanced natures. From what I have seen, no methods we have can even begin to reproduce those results."

"Yet, sir, yet. We still research Shin and the captured Sage Seals. We have a lot to learn. We also don't have near the resources Sai had during his empire. I assure you of this, sir, once we have one successful experiment, the rest will fall into place. Getting the formula down once means from then on, we merely tweak it."

"Then let no time be wasted. You have enough on the Hozuki and on Kirugetsu to recreate him. No one will care, if anyone even notices. War is uncoming, Kenji, you know that. I have seen the pathetic excuses we have for shinobi now. I wonder if Hitori had any idea what he was saving..."

"Sir, this world has been softened by its years under Sai. You cannot expect those we harvest from it to be suited for their new roles. We lost most of the hopeful students in the siege..."

"I have papers to arrange for Kirugetsu. Sai was so close to his goal... if the world we know now has such little potential for shinobi."

With that, Hosuka left the same way he appeared: melding himself through the trunk of a large tree. Kenji returned to his blank stare into the fire, watching as Kirugetsu and most of his belongings went up in flames. There were others. Jinzo, Goro, Hayato, Lin, Isota. All of them had cracked under the pressure of teaching these new genin. Some even resulted in the death of nearly a dozen of them - the fall of division B. Sai left a world devoid of potential for this generation of shinobi and created an entire generation that seemed incapable of passing down their lineage. Sai, in his own way, may have succeeded in his goal.

The next morning...

If not for the travesty of the night before, the morning would have been pleasant. It was cool with a light dew on the leaves, humid, but not muggy. The sun shone down through the clouds and illuminated the dark blue sky while it was fading from night into day. Iroh had no interest in the incident of the night before. He disliked Kirugetsu to begin with. The story was he became enraged at Hosuka and ultimately killed two of his genin before himself. Two dead genin on a squad of a man that publicly berated the Hokage after being presented with a gift was a terrible image, but it was the one that went down with Kirugetsu. Evne if untrue, the man was seen as he who slaughtered his genin. In that same day, Hayato became a missing-nin after nearly killing a chuunin. Kirugetsu was one thing, but Hayato always seemed fun-loving and light-hearted. For him to just snap was a real surprise. Regardless, nearly three dead in one day.

"Wouldn't be bad if Kyo wasn't his replacement..." Iroh muttered. It was a solid half-hour before his genin were to show up. All three of them, Shira, Isao and Ageha, were given scrolls and told to meet here, as was Iroh. He opted into training students, unlike most, but still didn't like the precept. He was a man of passion, that jumped into the flames and was tempered by the harsh conflict of war. Unlike Hayato and Kirugetsu, Iroh thrived in it. He was not cracked or broken, nor was he rage-filled. Only thirty or so out of almost a hundred genin were left, and it had barely been a week. Divisions B, D, and E were all destroyed. Division A was cut down by itself and Division C was almost unheard of. Iroh was left questioning what happened in the village, but that was not his place. He was here to train, to avoid becoming some high-up in Iwagakure, and he had no intention of risking that.

Meanwhile, Kino had just been hearing about his team. His uncle told him, but he was in disbelief. It wasn't until he reached the village and asked the Jounin office that it was confirmed. Kirugetsu had died, and the story going through the village was that he killed Shisen and Maruki as well. All three were dead - his entire former team. A moment of darkness fell on him. The idea that he could've died due to an enemy he couldn't fight nor would have ever seen. His sensei. He spent the entire night doing exactly as told and even part of that morning only to realize the man that instructed him was... dead. A murderer. On that note, Kino had no idea what to do. He fled home and just sat with his brother, confused. Maybe he would get a scroll? A letter? A visit? Would he go back on a team? With who? Kino just didn't know, and that may have been what scared him the most.

The serenity of the eventide prior was one that had been untouched by the grisly news of the morning, and it was that serenity that one Senju, Kyo awoke with. Sunlight filtered through her bamboo blinds, dappling spots on her body with their rays, and this gentle push was all it took to awaken her from the peaceful slumber she had surrendered to. She had told herself that she would get up early so she could personally greet all of her new students - she preferred to be direct with them - and lay down the rules that they would live by under her tutelage. After getting up and getting dressed, she receieved the news of why she had been considered for tutelage arrived at her doorstep.

The idea that her tutelage had been called upon was odd. It existed in a strange dissonance between having been valuable enough to be called upon and yet the reasons for which it was called upon were for anything but its wisdom - and that thought was enough to snap Kyo out of the serene calm that she had woken with. Kirugetsu - someone she'd served with - had apparently snapped and killed two of his Genin before destroying all of his worldly possessions and killing himself, after declining a generous gift from Hosuka. Her cousin had asked her to step in to replace Kirugetsu, figuring that she was one of the few strong enough after the war... But that also meant that Iroh would be serving - if she was being considered for her strength, so was he.

"Fuckin' Iroh..." she muttered under her breath, before grabbing her breakfast for the day and getting dressed. It was a matter of ten minutes before she left the house, first stopping at the surgery of one Nara, Shio. With a simple stomp of her right foot, a single shoot of bamboo would grow up in the middle of the surgery, inscribed with the message that Kyo was going to be her new Sensei and that she was going to return in an hour to meet her in person. Kyo hoped that she was an early riser - if she wasn't, this experience would likely be terrifying and quite unpleasant. Even though she didn't know it yet, she was under Kyo's rules - and Kyo did not take kindly to lateness.

The process was repeated with both Kino and Kami, though Kino would be seen by both Kyo and Shio, and Kami by all three. Bamboo was grown where they lived, and inscribed with a message - if they had any wits about them, they'd soon realise just how much bamboo their teacher was going to use. She didn't achieve the title of 'Bamboo Sage' by not using bamboo, after all.

The sunlight peered into Isaos room, tickling his face until he finally awoke. He begrudgingly opened his eyes looking towards his alarm clock to see it was barely 6:30. He put his arms over his head and let out deep yawn. He layed in bed for a few more minutes until he slowly got to his feet. He made his way over to his closet and put on gray shirt with the sleeves cut off that covered his scar covered back. He then quickly put on the rest of his clothing and began to analyze his weapons pouch. I should add two more kunai, 3 more paper bombs and five more shuriken. There is no telling what my sensei has in store for me... He could be from the age of draconian methods like my father or he could have a more subtle approach... If anything it is best to be prepared. he the thought to himself as he fastened the pouch to the right side of his hip. He then picked up his headband from the mantle and fastened it around his waist like a belt. Isao then made his way over to the window that overlooked the courtyard of the Kiriyama compound. He grabbed the tape and began to wrap his hands while he gazed out onto the courtyard. So peaceful... What better day to meet my teammates, I hope they like me though as I didn't get along with too many at the academy. Hopefully this will be a chance for me to start anew. he eagerly thought to himself as he grabbed his Kusarigama and bolted out the door.

Within a few minutes he had made it into town and began to head towards his favorite curry shop. Isao figured since he had some time to kill he might as well get a some breakfast. Once he made his way to the shop he heard all of the cliental gossiping about the events that had transpired in the night. Apparently one Jonin beat one of his students within an inch of her life. The next tragedy that was spoken of was the suicide of Kirugetsu Hozukai. Apparently he had killed two of his own students before succumbing to his own funeral pyre. Isao wasn't in complete disbelief at what he heard but found it a bit off on how they just snapped. Something had to have triggered this or maybe this somewhat peaceful way of life was too much for these men bear. Such events put a damper on things throughout the village but not for him. This was his chance to start fresh from the problems he ran into when trying make friends at the academy. With that thought he quickly finished his beef curry leaving the money on the counter as he rushed towards the training grounds.

Isao soon arrived at the training grounds fifteen minutes early completely unaware that his sensei was there. He figured since he was the first one there that he would post up against one of the training logs as he eagerly awaited his new team. I wonder what they'll be like.... Maybe there will be cute girl in my squad or even someone that I could become best friends with. I always kept my distance from the other genin I fought with as I knew that the chances of them surviving missions was slim....but now things have changed hopefully for the better. he thought to himself as he gazed upon the training fields as he awaited for the start of the next chapter in his life.

It was strange, seeing so much of the light. The home she had left would still be shrouded in darkness, filled with the sounds of the local wildlife waking.

Which she would then hunt for her breakfast.

It was a hard transition for her. Living in the village was a lot different from living in the old shack in the forest. For one, she didn't need to catch her own meal, she could pay someone else to make her meals. And then there was all these people. For one accustomed to living in the village it was nothing special, but for her the amount of people in one spot makes her nervous and jittery.

Ageha took up the twinblades and hooked them onto her belt, making sure they were secure.

They had finally summoned her. Her and a few others, to a training ground. She had absolutely no idea what to expect, so she had prepared herself for whatever may come on the training grounds. Through her experience, being called to training would usually involve a large amount of pain and several injuries. No doubt with so many others like her, the standards here would be much higher, perhaps with even a real risk of death. Like that news of a teacher killing his students she overheard some ladies talk about.

"Ready."

***

Ageha looked back towards the sun, shielding her eyes with her hand.

The training grounds seems to be located a bit further away from the city, most likely to avoid runaway jutsu or accidentally throwing a kunai in someone's face. Safe, but for someone who was still unfamiliar with the grounds, it was a bit of a chore to find. At least she didn't get lost again.

She stretched her hands out, observing her shadow closely. It was a good thing she had walked out early, for she had arrived exactly at the appointed time. And not a moment too soon, for it seemed the teacher was there already, along with another person. A man whose body seemed chiseled out of a rock, and young. Nothing at all like Granny. Nevertheless she was starting to feel nervous again, though she showed little sign of it. Did she bring enough supplies? Was she really ready? Questions and doubts raced through her mind, with nary an answer to most. Regardless, she was here, and whether she was ready or not, the teacher would not wait.

"..g..Good morning."

Shiō

Most mornings for Shiō were filled with routine. Like those before, since returning after the war, she sat at the table in her kitchen sipping on her tea choice for the morning, pouring through her old medical files. What would be different this morning, however, would be the early morning knock.

"Miss Shiō," called Yui's soft voice, "There is a message for you. From a Kyo. I found it in the surgery room. You have been assigned to a squad under her. You are to be at the training grounds by six thirty."

Shiō cursed under her breath. The village was incredibly disorganized, this was evidence of that. She had once been assigned to be a squad leader, now was placed under someone. It was understandable that the village would still need to find its feet after the issues it had been dealing with, but it frustrated Shiō to no end. Such things were not predictable and required deviation from her preferred patterns. The thought, for a brief moment, crossed her mind to ignore the message, but with the lack of early morning surgeries to deal with, there was no point in not showing.

Sighing, she closed her files and dismissed her assistant on the other side of the door. Grabbing her umbrella, she whistled as she stepped out, unfurling it swiftly. Hiyo landed on it a moment later, perched on the top of the umbrella. With that, Shiō headed towards her training ground, timing her arrival for exactly six twenty nine and some seconds to spare. She wanted to get this over as swiftly as possible and return to her normal patterns of things. Such disruptions were quite tiring.

After having completed her rounds to her other students' living areas, Kyō headed back to the first that she had designated for an initial meeting - Nara, Shiō. The surgeon's training grounds next to her surgery were fairly well kept, but it was fairly easy for Kyō to simply stride in and do whatever she wanted. That was a point that she would need to bring up to the young woman - security was paramount in the dire situation that the village had found itself in. Kyō's being called upon was a sign that the strife was at such a level that it needed to be cut down, swiftly and brutally, and harmony needed to be restored urgently. In some ways, the presence of the Twin Sages was one of rebirth.

Kyō waited for a few minutes before Shiō stepped into the grounds, a few seconds early, and waited. Neither of them spoke a word until six thirty exactly, and then the silence was broken by the mutual call of:

"Hello."

Kyō smiled - her first student was precisely on time and had a sufficient level of respect for social conventions. People who talked out of place and out of time were prone to errant thoughts that could detract from their training - they were poorly equipped to deal with the rigours of a regimented training routine. Kyō would remove these weaknesses from her underlings by any means necessary, using physical force and psychological pressure tactics if it came down to it. There was no excuse for a lack of respect, especially not given the darker climate that had seemed to settle over the village over the prior few days.

"You're on time. Good. You display the proper respect for routine and social convention. Good. As I'm sure you know, my name is Kyō - I am one of the last few Senju, the Bamboo Sage, and I am your new Sensei. Forget everything about whatever assignments you had before, for they are no longer in any state of being meaningful. You're a Medical Ninja, which admittedly is not my specialty, but I will teach you the discipline and fine control necessary to progress in your studies... But first, I must measure how disciplined you currently are. I am going to create nine hundred and ninety nine sticks of bamboo, and then I will throw this stick:" - she gestured to the stick she was holding - " into the pile. You will find this stick for me. Go."

With that, Kyō stomped her right foot into the ground, creating a small forest of upright bamboo around the two of them in order to obscure Shiō's vision of both her and her Ouku no Ne, and then stomped again, cutting them all down while simultaneously throwing her stick into the huge mass that had been created. Each stick was identical in every way, and in truth, there was no easy way to discern between them. There were ways, but they were convoluted and complex. The purpose of the exercise was not necessarily to see if Shiō could find the Ouku no Ne, but to test other factors about her personality. What constituted as passing the test and failing the test were known only to Kyō.

Isao sat with his back against the wooden training stump until it was time. He wondered if the others would be late and what his sensei would have in store for them. He knew all to well that most from the old guard didn't take kindly to tardiness. This however was alleviated when he heard a soft stammering voice that uttered the phrase good morning. He turned his head to see an attractive girl that had two blades attached to her waist. She appeared to be a few years senior and wondered if she was a Chunin. Sooo that is my first teammate. I best go get things started on the right foot and go introduce myself. he eagerly thought to himself as he sprang to his feet and casually walked over to her.

"Goodmorning too you as well, I take it you are my fellow squad mate. Well my name is Isao Kiriyama its nice to meet."he said in a friendly tone as he offered her his right hand. Isao stood at about 6ft tall and appeared to be a few years younger then her with a lengthy muscular build.

Passed the girl however Isao made out what appeared to be a Jonin whose body was chiseled out of the very cliffs of Iwagakure. He had his hands wrapped which made it clear that he was probably skilled at taijutsu. The thought of having a taijutsu master excited him as he could potentially show him a complete different style of fighting and potentially teach him how to open the gates. Isao however would not go over to address his superior unless spoken too. Some may find it rude but to him it was a sense of respect beaten into him during the conflict with Sais forces.

"Good morning too you as well, I take it you are my fellow squad mate. Well my name is Isao Kiriyama its nice to meet you."

Ageha glanced at the teacher, before turning her attention back to the person who seemed to be her squad mate. He doesn't seem to be anything special, except for being taller than her and looking rather.... young. Odd. So was she ranked only as good as this person? It begged the question of whether they had warriors so strong she only measured up to this person, or they underestimated her skills severely. Both are equally annoying to consider.

"Ageha."

She took his hand gingerly, pausing a moment before remembering she had to shake it. He seemed to have a scythe thing on chains, something she recalled seeing when Granny brought out all her weapons. A weapon specialist she would have guessed, but then again weapons does not make the shinobi, so perhaps he could be specializing in another field entirely. Still, he looked like a real muscle head as her Granny would have put it.

There was another one missing however; the last member of the squad. If she recalled correctly, a squad would be of at least three people, with one teacher. She felt rather nervous now. If this beefy boy here and that teacher over there who looked he came out of a rock was any indication, the last one would also be a large muscly fellow. Was she accidentally put on the muscle crew? Whoever the other squad member was, she hoped sincerely it was a girl at least. Even if they were as muscular as that teacher.

The same dream that had plagued Shira for days now was what caused her to bolt upright from slumber immediately, and cold sweat poured down her brow as she struggled to regain control of her breathing. She'd heard of what happened to Kirugetsu and his squad members during the night - Bujin had woken her to inform her of the damage dealt and the plans that the village had for her, noting that she had missed a scroll from Kami-sensei. It was odd to think that missing that message could have saved her life, but not odd in the way that most people would've found it. Shira's self-defeatist wishes made her almost regret passing up an opportunity to end it all and die in combat, but she knew that the death she'd have gotten at Hayato's hands was not one worthy of the Hataga. Even so, the desires bubbled up inside her like an overflowing cauldron, and she could not bring herself to sleep again. She didn't want to face the dream again.

It was fairly standard routine to get up, washed, dressed, and to train - but she also had new orders, according to a letter she found addressed to her in the front room of the Hataga compound. She had been reassigned already with two new shinobi - she recognised the names in so far as having seen them written before - and she was to be tutored by Iroh, the Seismic Sage. She'd seen the impressive stand he and his counterpart had made firsthand in the war, and she immediately knew that he was not the teacher for her. One whose purpose to survive conflicted somewhat with her internal goals, but she was also excited to be trained by someone famous - especially one who had served. The honour was great, and it was not something she'd squander.

Shira set out for the training grounds, preferring to begin her daily routine there. It would save her time and effort, and a training ground was certainly the right place to begin one's morning training. She stayed fairly far back, retreating to the shade beneath the trees to help hone her tentative control over the Throes of War that her bloodline had given her. Darkness was a good way to test her gut instincts and help better develop her ability to use the kekkei genkai. After two hours exactly, it was time for Shira to meet her new sensei and her new teammates - she'd barely got chance to talk to Namine the other day, and she hadn't had nearly enough time to grow attached to Kami (though she made a mental note to visit her in the hospital to give her flowers). She felt what could only be described as a numb consternation at the thought of meeting new teammates, though the excitement confused her a little - she had no reason to be particularly fond of meeting them, but Kami's enthusiasm may have rubbed off on her just a little.

It was with heavy determination that she emerged from the woods to see Ageha, Isao, and Iroh at the training grounds, with the former two having struck up the beginnings of a conversation. Shira elected not to join in until she was spoken to, standing to attention before Iroh as a sign of respect for her new Sensei.
