@Lurking Shadow

Beyond just wanting to use two ideas, no. If you'd rather avoid multiple characters, then I'll just sign up as one for now, and at best I'll sign up as the second one much later.

My second idea would've been a Bootleg Transformer, but it's the less fleshed out idea.

@Crow yes, just use one for now. Maybe can do two if the number of approved characters are low, but otherwise I think there will be an opportunity to have a second further down the line.

also transformers are pretty cool. I kind of want to see that concept at some point if it ever bears fruit and there is room for it.

@Lurking Shadow I have an idea for a more support-type character, however since the main aspect of his powers would involve regeneration I just wanted to check what level of regeneration would be acceptable on a scale from Teen Wolf, Wolverine and Highlander?

@Unkown58 Somewhere between teen wolf and wolverine. I want there to be a real sense of danger and consequences in most of the conflicts between the heroes and the villains, they are still relatively inexperienced and the villains have been stepping up their game. Whenever the big fights come around, the villains will usually have the upper hand. So as long as there are some restrictions so they won't be unable to be killed and severe injuries will at least require ~ a few hours of rest it should be fine. There will be opportunities for improvement, especially if and when we have to deal with the big leagues.

I do like writing characters with another form/appearance, though I go for more of a monster-y sort of thing. something akin to Cu Chulainn, Fafnir, or lycanthropes. I am considering on doing something along those lines but It won't really overlap that much with your idea if you want to fulfill that niche.

Tentative interest, though I was thinking of a character that would overlap with this lol

@Lurking Shadow (^^)b Got it! I 100% agree with having a sense of danger and am planning on implementing it, I just wanted to be sure of the boundaries before I started planning weaknesses. (^ω^)

I should have a preliminary cs up soon 。^‿^。

The 'Limitations' section of the application, is it optional? Like, can someone limitation just be getting slapped really hard? Or perhaps something along the lines of the natural weaknesses of elements that don't really need listing (e.g. water to extingush flames, a lightningrod to conduct electricity, etc.)

Uncertain of what I would like to write, but I like the GM answers to the questions that have been asked and the grounded starting point. :)

Which is a rambling way to say that I am interested.

@Crow it's mostly there to restrict strong powers and to also be difficulties your character might over come as they become more experienced and grow in power. Like if you want to be able to raise the dead for whatever reason, that can be kind of strong, but if you add that the corpses must be fresh and that they must be ritualisticly prepared it would make it more in line with the capabilities you would have at the start.

So I would say it is a 'soft' requirement, you really only need to include it if you or I deem your characters power too strong and also helps give me an idea of how your character might grow stronger over the course of the RP.

I might as well toss around my own thoughts and ideas, because that is part of the fun. The tech-based ideas I have could go with a fairly normal cyborg or android sort of character using a lot of gear for most things. Alternatively, one way to play with the concept is to mix it a bit with aliens and such: the character's actually an alien pecekeeper (and possibly very advanced probe, not an actual member of some alien race) sent to Earth to check things out. That option does allow for more flexibility in powers, as we're looking at sufficiently advanced technology and could thus really run anything, instead of strictly weapon summoning or the like.

For other things like just power sets that might be fun, some sort of light manipulation, at least sometimes for making laser beams, might be fun. Or electrokinesis. Or maybe that Gambit-stlye charging stuff up with the ability to explode.

So I am extremely interested in this concept, but before i get too far ahead of myself I figured it only wise to check if my character would fit the vibe. Bare bones concept, ancient knight/wizard in training gets flung into the future. There is a lot more to it but I don't want to ruin the surprise just yet.

Those of you who are history buffs might get a big kick out of the character I'm creating.

@The Forgotten I think it would fit in fine. PM me the details, I'm particularly interested in how he gets flung in the future.

@Vega7285 a alien peacekeeper could prove interesting, especially if the alien's concept of peace and/or morals differ from those of Humans.

@Lyla

Looks good but I do want one change. I have a problem with her having invincibility as it removes the sense of danger that all the PCs should feel during the first few parts of the RP. I plan on the story at the start to go something along the lines of the heroes facing difficult odds but thanks to grit, teamwork, and a healthy dose of luck do they succeed. She should feel impending doom from something and she can't if she knows that Dr. Skull's lightning gun won't do much more than give her a nasty shock or something. At a future point when everyone gets to the 'big leagues' perhaps that would be a good point where she starts to realize that things that sent her to the hospital for a month now only gives her a paper cut, but I would suggest adding something feasible for a villain to be able to harm her with.

Other than that I like her, especially as it seems that using her powers also negatively impacts her. She would not be so willing punch through ten feet of concrete if it gives her a lot of pain. I think it would be interesting to read how it plays out.

So with the change to invulnerability it would be more or less approved pending any extra sections I want to add to the CS.

I'll have the final CS template up with the OOC which I am working on compiling my notes for now. I have a busy week so it will probably take up to a week for me to finalize the CS, make up a optional villain/antagonist CS, finalize a little background lore about the city this RP takes place in, and add some ground rules for the RP (things like 'be cool to each other', 'no power gaming' etc. a lot of it should be intuitive).

@Lyla Appreciate the changes.

And for everyone else, feel free to post your character here until i get the OOC up, even if it is not the final CS, it will 'lock in' the character idea you are doing so we can hopefully avoid two people coming up with vampires or whatever.

Ah, but two vampires could be very different from one-another. Also, that reminds me: vampires make an amusing potential enemy for a regenerator. Their goal is simple: capture such a person and keep them somewhere where they can be used as a reliable blood source.

The challenge with an alien mindset is, well, writing a mindset that's believably "alien" when we're not. Doesn't make it impossible, of course, because it's not like one needs lived experience to write or roleplay something. Not sure if I have many thoughts on the mindset, though I can think about how that'd potentially work out. Though the other sticking point i can see there is if blending in is part of the point, can't be too "stranger in a strange land" either. Gotta break the prime directive sometimes, but can't just do it all the time, either. It does lead to an obvious limitation to the character as some sort of "technology protection" system that cuts in and puts a time or output limit on their stuff.

The thoughts I had so far for things are more the big picture stuff, and that's going sort of the way of the Zentraedi from Macross. Advanced precursor race creates peacekeeping/military force. Though, probably more machine intelligence, as I do like that angle. They outlived their creators (didn't go all Skynet and kill them, at least) and are more or less continuing in their original role, just also trying to figure out a place in the universe without their masters, and with plenty of other stuff.

The general feel I'd be going for is sort of Green Lantern space cops or the like, just as an autonomous system that's going "well, we still have all our orders to be space cops, now what?" Or...something like that.

And to cap off with more brainstorming on powers to play with, whatever origins the character has, something like manipulating force fields for defense (and attack) might be fun. I'll figure something out, but it might take a while.

My application is being constructed, but my current concept is 'Young boy who turns into a Magical Girl that also has form-switching akin to modern Kamen Riders'. It's going to be glorious.

I'll save this spot for when I have a bit more to show. :)

However, the basic concept I am working on is a CPA by day and bespoke tailor by night, who moonlights as a vigilante in what little remains. Insomnia seems to be a given as this point, so sorry in advance fictional character.

Their superhuman talents center on the the ability to manipulate or move fabric at a distance (range/weight limited, magic or psychic in nature, who knows?) and to transform the physical properties of textiles (touch only, limited in terms of characteristics that can be changed, with scaling difficulty depending on the scope of any changes and duration).

@Vega7285 True, there are different ideas of what vampires are and what they can and can't do in different cultures and it could be something entirely different from a mundane vampire like fire vampires which are sentient spheres of fire that consume the 'life-essence' of its victims. I was meaning to avoid having two characters too close to each other.

Their minds need not be entirely 'alien' to still be interestingly different than us. Unless it's some sort of hive mind deal or particularly grimdark, murder of any member of the species would probably still be a big deal as an example. The trick I use when trying to figure out how aliens would behave is to take a macroscopic look at their planet, anatomy, habitats, culture and so on as it all goes together to tell a story about them and how they might react differently to certain stimuli than us. For example, if they have modular body parts they can pretty much detach and reattach whenever, they might not be so concerned about being stabbed in the hand cause they can always just grab a new one. an inconvenience at best.

Not familiar with them but it reminds me of the Novus from Universe at War. A faction of robots whose creators were wiped out by the Hierarchy who pretty much go around the galaxy invading planets and killing any life. One of the machines that survived was understandably pretty upset about the whole genocide thing and vowed revenge and created the Novus. The idea of 'creations outliving creators' is a solid one, something I still need to make an alien race/faction of at some point.

I have made a few alien races and I think I might populate a little of the universe with them. They probably won't make much of an appearance in the RP and they would be 'unknown' to humans, but if you go with an alien character than they might know of them. especially if they are supposed to be space cops. I was thinking of using an individual from one of them as a plot device at some point in the story, if you want we could set up some knowledge of that for your character in a PM, perhaps it could help explain why they are on Earth in the first place.

@Crow yet another thing i had to look up, but interesting.

@Abstract Proxy That is insanely specific, i like it. also they could prob fix that insomnia by micro dosing on meth
