The Boondocks says hello. Aqua Teen Hunger Force too. Samurai Jack is top tier. And I will tolerate no slander of the 4KIDS One Piece theme but that's anime so it probably doesn't count

Sorry but Kirby Right Back Atcha' is the superior choice anime of any Japanese cartoon enjoyer, fam.

I would actually agree with the two adult cartoons. (Even if that wasn't exactly what I had in mind. I guess I didn't specify kids cartoons.) Then again, I'm sure there's more bad ones than good.

And not to commit a hate crime here. But I've yet to watch Samurai Jack to completion. (Seen episodes here and there.) So I don't have any nostalgia backing it up. (Thus, I just watched the intro on Youtube. Twice. To refresh my memory.)

And the intro itself is very well done in the art department. (Action/monsters/varied locals to draw said viewer in.) But the music?

I'm sure it's an earworm, since it rhymes and repeats the same words. Though it's a bit bland sounding...and the jack jack jack jack jack jack got a bit obnoxious the second time around. So I don't think that's a track I'd listen to outside of the cartoon. <.<' (Frankly, I'd skip it like a Netflix introduction.)

@SleepingSilence Hey hey, Samurai Jack was ground breaking way back when. The heavy favoritism towards using sound more than speech was a genius move. A solid move I might add, as it proved a successful one in creating a certain atmosphere.

I mean if you just focus on the lyrics then I can guess it'd be bland sounding, but musically it's honestly what the people call a bop. It has a beat and rhythm that adds instrumentation with every bridge. But getting a well produced hip hop infused beat is what you get when you have will.i.am doing your theme music.

Like I can get if it's not your thing but considering most cartoon theme songs are meant to be like 30-40 second things that never change it's honestly impressive how much went in to such a brief thing.

I mean, the GOAT cartoon theme songs, that being Jem and the Holograms and Josie and the Pussycats, can't be topped so it's a wonder cartoons still even try.

In case you missed it: the Annies were had a few days ago. You can find the results here. Most of the categories were won by The Mitchells vs. Machines and Arcane, though.

@Dark Cloud

I personally was surprised that I wasn't in love with it. I love conspiracies, I like Alex Hirsch, and my girlfriend was ecstatic to see a main character to relate to!

Overall it holds a place with things like Disenchanted in my heart. Good on it's own but not really my style. Still got plenty of laughs but most jokes missed their mark for me.

Turning Red was good because I, too, was embarrassed by my personal writing journal as a 13 year old except instead of being about a boy at the corner store it was me doing magical girl shit alongside Nanoha Takamachi and Mai Tokiha

Didya hear about the person who turned the film off because they were "uncomfortable about the MC creating fan fiction in a Pixar film"? There has been a lot of controversial takes out there about the movie, including accusations of racism, sexism, etc. (such as the O'Connell review that got pulled) as well.

Oh I heard it all. It sustained me. Anyone who was upset by a movie portraying a 13 year old as drawing romantic fanfiction art doesn't know what 13 year olds are like because if anything Turning Red turned it down. The review was awful because the guy is in effect saying "Yeah I can relate to cars and rat chefs and fish more than I can a character who is a 13 year old Asian-Canadian girl" as if people from all walks of life can't relate to that awkward part of youth when you are at your most cringe and also have well meaning if overbearing parents.

American Tail's plot is beyond meandering and all the songs are sung badly.

The Great Mouse Detective is better in all but animation.

Friend and I never saw them. And we were bored.

I've noticed that season two of cartoons seem to be where a lot of them fall apart. (For me at least.) One example: Generator Rex is a surprisingly dark and engaging first ten episodes or so. (And then you get to Season 2, where most of the episodes run on f**king moon logic.) But I won't bore you with the details.

And I went back to watching a few of the new seasonal anime. In spite of myself. (I want to like Digimon: Ghost Game more than I do. But the writer can't write...)

Guys, I am watching Bojack. Help.

I actually found that show enjoyable for a while. (When any random episode of Rick and Morty had me staring blankly at my screen.)

The characters (and their attempts to do politics) do start to grate on your nerves though.

@SleepingSilence Their politics didn't bother me too much, but I suppose that is normal these days and most of it probably went over my head. I found the show very funny and that made it so much harder when it reeled it in and made me feel and think. Bojack was a flawed character that by the last season I hated that I was rooting for him to get better at times. I liked that it took characters I loved and made me see their flaws more than once too. No one was perfect, everyone had their rough days.

Except Todd. I stan Todd whole heartedly. Juda too, both are true kings.

@Birdboy Long as its not Diane. More power to you. I can understand how the humor kept you going. Are you rewatching it? (At first I thought it might've been something you just started.) Since I generally see more criticism about the show, the further you get into it.

Whatever my opinion may be. (Especially if I tried to rewatch it now.) It's likely better than whatever terrible comedy thing is being released on Netflix nowadays.

Also, to anyone that's seen it, is "F Is For Family" worth watching? Because watching a clip of it on Youtube screams, "If you like Bill Burr, great! That's all we have."

It's not worth watching if you like your comedies to be something other than "haha angry guy says fuck a lot" but it's worth watching if you have nothing else and want to chuckle every so often and realize "well it could be worse, it could be Big Mouth"

If anyone is interested: The fifth season for Camp Cretaceous is dropping in late July. With JW3 coming out on June 10th, might be something fun to watch or catch up on for y'all.
