Awesome! And gotcha, I'll turn him 9 then to be closer to that intended 19; someone who's still coming to terms with the sudden responsibilites and capabilities that come with being an adult. And especially in the case of the Noctem, the rapid growth spurt as well.
@Guardian Angel Haruki Alright, a Sign in the Stars; we can work with that. That works out pretty well actually. I'm big on 'Open Secrets' for the table, so I prefer sharing things like this with the room so folks know to work around each other and collaborate, so here's what I have in mind for the Hermit Discovery based on what you put here- but it also goes with a slight adjustment to the backstory, so let me know if you're cool with this.
The Heartlands lie alongside the high ridge of the southern edge of the Dale, a verdant forest sprouts and was once tended by the Wooden Ones in a gentle fashion- but a Rot has set in there, decay gripping a place that was once fertile and wholesome and warping it into a shadowy place tainted by a vile taste in the air. The Wooden Ones who lived there have cut off contact with the rest of the world, and there is a dissonance in the dialogue of the Everbloom- the Heartlands are utterly abandoned, and those who enter rarely return.
This is what I'd written for the 'recent history' of the Heartlands, so Amaryllis' isolation and time of study works quite well here. She'd have been planted and tasked with her study and learning; (This is my suggested add-on) but after a while her isolation would have become true; the visits from her mother and father would have suddenly ceased, and she would have been left to her own devices to witness the slow decay of the wood around her as she finalized her growth and continued her study of the stars. This unnatural rot that was spreading through the wood would have been a very direct and personal thing pushing her to go and find outside help; if she tried to explore around or seek familiar faces she would have been met by what to her would seem like madness and violence. In short, she would be made to flee the Heartland and seek aid.
As for the discovery in the stars; Someone in her position, studying the heavens for such an extended period of time and witnessing the movement of the stars, her Great Discovery would be that some of those stars are moving. A key constellation has shifted ever so slightly, drifting across a lifetime, into a new shape. Something shorter lived creatures would never have noticed, but something strange and unique to your circumstances.
The Constellation in question is called 'Renyo's Gateway', and it is said to be the heavenly path to the home of the Gods. It resembles an arched gateway, but Amaryllis has seen strange drift in its shape.
As always, DM Cackling, You Have Family TM.
@Vertigo This one requires little thorough response from me; I like it. I can work with a theatrical and good natured crime group operating in secret and at odds with other groups in the Dale.
You earn a mere DM Cackle; You Have Family TM, for your details are easy to plug into just about anything.
lmao I accidentally bopped my own CS thread, dang quick hands.
I'm stoked that y'all got this info in early and finished your characters ahead of time. If only I could get my real life players to read half my notes, or level their characters up before the sessions /s
3/6 of you folks took the Guidance Cantrip. I will just assume it is active barring situations I warn you people that it may be inappropriate or otherwise noticed by those around you, such as during combat it would still need to specifically be cast, or if trying to interact in social situations or with potentially hostile people who may react to the casting of a spell.
In the interest of me maintaining a flow, I’m gonna set a soft deadline for the 11th for people to express interest, and the 14th will be a hard deadline for completed characters. The game will begin properly shortly after that.
Hello the 11th!
To any and all Lurkers and Watchers I will officially be closing off welcoming any other interested parties today; I’m still in contact with and assisting neianna86 with their sheet and we are making good time.
So far we are set to meet schedule just dandy this weekend!
Alright chums, it's the 14th; woohoo. As said before, Neianna86 has been very vocal and communicative with me about their stuff and as such they will have some extra time to get me their finalized background information. I've got enough to work off of to finish my notes for the game beginning, and can begin working on an official adventure-start writeup.
We are up and running folks; let's have a good time.
As an update, I run my real-world D&D games on Sundays like today, so aside from early in the mornings like when I started writing today, I need to focus on that obligation and may not be as available as usual.
I’ll try to post at least once a week unless folks specifically need more time than that. During combats or if everyone else posts within that time I should be able to respond more frequently, but my general self-rule is to post on saturdays so folks aren’t left waiting on each other in situations like this starting scenario.
In that vein, I have a vacation for the weekend of the 27th, so I may be absent that weekend while I try to submerge myself in an anime convention despite not having watched any anime this calendar year.
