Walson, New York. A small village situated in upstate New York in the Adirondack Mountains. A village where nothing really happens, just a quiet and peaceful village. The people are nice, nice weather, great scenery, plenty of stuff to do for locals and outsiders, and little crime. Having everything that can make one content all in one place. Just a peaceful village in upstate New York, a paradise some call it, and the locals like it that way.

And it is in this idyllic village where, for one reason or another. Some of its residents, some local teenagers, have been having nightmares lately. While they seem to vary from each other, one nightmare stands out. Stuck in a white room, unable to move and speak. Voices can vaguely be heard, unable to hear what they are saying, and sometimes there is pain. And the more concerning part of it is that it seems almost real.

For these nightmare-plagued teenagers, it is the last year of high school at Walson High for them. Now seniors with one final year before they graduate and can start the next chapter of their lives. But fate has other plans for them. For unknown to them, their hometown of Walson has a secret. A secret that will change everything that they know as they start to notice the cracks in the paradise of Walson. That this idyllic village is not what it seems and unless they act. This secret will be their end, but only time will tell what these teenagers will do and if they can survive Walson's secret.






Hello, and welcome to the rp. The date is January 25th, 2025, and in this rp. You will be playing as seniors at the local Walson high school during their last year at the high school. For some reason have started to have nightmares and the most notable being the white room. It was while attending the Walson 200th anniversary festival that after incident at the festival. Your characters realize that they have powers and start to notice the cracks that make their hometown an idyllic place. The cracks get bigger and bigger, and odd stuff starts happening in the village. With most people seemly ignoring it. Culminating in them learning of the Walson's secret, and it will change everything they know if they can survive it.

As for what powers will be allowed. Mind control and time powers will be a hard no. As for other powers, most will be allowed, and some I might deny one if it is too hard to balance. If you feel on the fence about one, just ask.

Now the story will take place over a year's time, more or less, as the characters go through their last year of high school as the events of the rp unfold. Which their choices during the rp will have an impact on the story and the village. Now since this is a horror rp, that means that death is a possibility. So keep that in mind.

Tara is an inward person. She’s quiet and prefers to just chill off to the side rather than be in the center of attention, she tends to just coast with the bare minimum effort put into things, when when she needs to try her best. Whether or not Tara willingly goes out of her way to do something in an unlazy way depends on her mood, but she’s nice to people when it matters. Tara can often be found doodling away at something in a notebook, or watching something about boats… She thinks boats are cool.

Forcing Tara to do something she’s not in the mood for often doesn’t work out. She isn’t known for being the most committed person, and has a hard time getting in the mindset to do most things. Around her friends, Tara is more or less the cool one that always has smack or junk food to share. Very rarely does she seem to get upset, unless people are actively trying to get on her nerves.

Most of that, however, is something of a front. Tara rarely cares about most things, but deep down, she also rarely feels like anyone she’s friends with cares about her, often feeling like she doesn’t belong in a group, or that people might be saying things about her when she isn’t looking. Her carefree attitude is a result of these insecurities, and is the only “bad” thing about her people seem to be aware of. Tara has a habit of letting these feelings build up without and proper way of dealing with them, so any positivity in her day comes from having nothing to do other than distract herself from her insecurities rather than deal with them.

Power

Universal Antimatter Tara's powers allow her to create a glowing substance in her hands that resembles the properties of conventional antimatter. The term "antimatter" refers to a particle corresponding to another particle that, upon colliding with its counterpart, results in an annihilation- a net zero existence of matter. An atom of a hydrogen and an atom of antihydrogen render each other nonexistent. Tara's power creates antimatter that destroys any and all forms of matter upon contact, resulting in the atomic structure of a given target being erased from existence. Tara's power subverts the laws of mass conservation, stating that mass can't be destroyed, only changed. Once matter is reacted with her antimatter, it simply no longer exists in any form. This can include solid objects, or the oxygen in the atmosphere. When matter if annihilated with Tara's power, a violent burst of energy is released based on the volume of antimatter used. A charge of antimatter with the size of a golf ball would produce an explosion big enough for a small person to crawl through. The blast radius and energy released by an antimatter explosion increase as Tara creates larger projectiles. Tara has some broad control of the movement of her antimatter, but in the sense that a grenade launcher has broad control over the movement of an explosive projectile. When antimatter leaves arm's reach, Tara no longer has that control, and whatever happens is out of her control. While she is completely immune to the atomic annihilation of her power, Tara is most certainly not immune to an explosion that she could potentially be caught in.

Background

Tara was born to Lydia and Virgil Graham, in Walton hospital 17 years ago. Her mother was a doctor, and her father had retired from military service upon hearing the news nine months prior. Virgil Graham was never a bad person. He always wanted to raise his daughter right and help her reach the dreams she desired. Virgil, however, came up short in that regard. For many years after his retirement, the man struggled with raising a child, though not for lack of trying. His wife was always there to remind him to be just a little gentler with holding their infant daughter, or just a little quieter when she was asleep. The man did the best he could, but over time, the stresses of adjusting were something he never learned to adapt to.

Virgil had already been coping with undiagnosed symptoms anxiety, which only compounded his upward battle to raise his daughter right. Lydia Graham did her best to steer him in the right direction, but friction built up overtime between them. By the time Tara was almost 10 years old, her parents filed for a divorce, and she never saw her mother again. They both loved their daughter very much, and they ended things in terms that weren’t hostile, just disappointing. Virgil tried to do things without his wife help, because he didn’t want to depend on her for every piece of advice he needed, but it only made things worse.

Having only a single parent that was emotionally out of touch meant that Tara often experiences very little closeness with the man for the rest of her life. Tara’s father always treated her like a child who needed to be told how to do things and pushed to do them whether she actually wanted to or not. Virgil tried to raise her like a father, but not a dad. The two of them constantly argued over every little thing. Tara’s grades in school, what she did when she wasn’t home, or even whether or not she’d go to college. Tara couldn’t ever catch a break when it came to her father, and he never learned to see things from her perspective.

Living like this for the next seven years caused Tara to simply give up at some point. One day, she stopped giving her best effort and found it was easier to just do the bare minimum, since her best was never appreciated. Tara developed a burned out sense of the world, as well as her own insecurities about the things she did. Her relationship with her father was strained, and for a while now, he hasn’t been able to put his disappointment with her into words. Tara has no idea what she’ll do after high school, but the answer probably comes down to “nothing.”

Adrian is very much a social person, or so he acts. He can put on an easy front of charisma and charm that makes him seem inviting while in reality he would rather be anywhere else. He really doesn't like people all that much, mostly due to the fact that he grew up an only child and living in a big city prior to moving to Walson meant he didn't spend much time with others outside of school. However, his father's position as a big time politician across the state of New York meant that he was frequently in the light of cameras and interested parties.

Despite the fact he likes his alone time, Adrian is generally friendly with everyone and likes to be helpful. He is expected to be the top of his class, which he works hard at, and serves on the student council (mostly at his father's behest). He is more than willing to help out other students with studying for exams. That's not to say he won't deny someone help if he doesn't think they've earned it. Slacking off isn't a reason to come begging him to help with homework, genuine misunderstanding is, at least in his eyes. He isn't afraid to tell someone to go beg somewhere else and doesn't take kindly to repeated attempts to get him to agree to something.

This rapid influx of anger usually burns off pretty quickly, but on top of it he is quick to hold a grudge. Once he's decided he doesn't like someone it takes the force of moving a mountain to get him to change his mind. On the opposite side of the same coin though, once he decides he likes someone he is loyal to a fault. His friends are more important to him than even his family (his cat Meeko is the most important to him though.)

Power

Animation Adrian can give life to inanimate objects/matter/energy/concepts, animating them to act/move on their own accord. Though capable of operating purely independent of his control, they can still function as extensions of his will, allowing him to command, control and otherwise influence them to varying degrees, which can even include causing the target to fly on their own power (in the instance that he created something with wings for example). Though it takes longer, in some cases, his power over the material can allow him to shape and mold it into a variety of forms and make it resemble various objects, entities, images and other shapes that can change at will. He can animate things like drawings or sculptures provided that he is the one that created them. He couldn't animate a statue or painting in a museum since he is not responsible for it's creation. Aside from the fact that he can't animate things that weren't made by his own hands there are a few other limitations to the ability. He has to keep some level of attention on the thing that he has animated. Otherwise it will continue to follow the last order he gave it or cease function entirely. He also is limited on the size or number of things that he can have animated at one time. If he has something large animated then he can only create smaller things until he stops focusing on the larger creation.

Background

Adrian was born in New York City proper to Walter and Camille Valentine. His family is fairly well off, his father being a rather well known politician and businessman in the city, and his mother a state known lawyer. Given these two positions he was often left at home with a nanny in his younger years, and being an only child mostly found it on his own shoulders to entertain himself. He found quickly that music and other artistic pursuits were a great way to pass the time, and even frequently got praise from his parents if he did well at them.

Even from a young age his parents expected a great deal of him, he had to learn everything faster than anyone else and needed to have a diverse number of skills that would give his father something to talk about when it came to how talented his family was. This led to him being pushed far too hard in just about everything, and he still holds a massive grudge (though well hidden) against both his parents. He does excel academically and has been on some sort of student council or honor society from the moment they were an option. That doesn't mean that it's something that he really wants to be doing though. Mostly he keeps up the front of obedience so that his parents will pay for his college and he can get away from them as soon as possible.

As he got older his parents decided the nanny was no longer needed and elected to leave him at home by himself. At first he was bothered by this, but came to appreciate the time that he could spend by himself with no expectations thrown his way. He took this time to actually enjoy some of the hobbies he has, namely practicing drawing or piano without having to be cooped up in his room. There is very little that his parents don't stick their noses in, so having some sort of escape was vital for him. He didn't have many friends outside of school, and even in school was mostly seen as a teacher's pet or show off, but he tried not to let it get under his skin too much.

At the age of twelve his father elected to move them to Walson, for what exact reason Adrian still isn't quite sure, but he is grateful for it in some ways. Both of his parents commute to larger cities for their job which gives him the house to himself, and run of the city, for days at a time. He also appreciates the opportunity to make something out of himself at a new school where people don't only seem him as a know-it-all. Instead he tries to be friendly, helpful, and sinks just a bit into his father's politician's charisma so that people actually like him.

From late middle school into high school he actually found himself making friends and not being instantly judged by his family. Which was a nice change of pace. He can do pretty much whatever he wants with no repercussions so long as he keeps his grades up, and living in a smaller town like Walson, as opposed to New York City, means he can actually go outside and enjoy himself. That usually involves bringing a sketchbook somewhere and hunkering down for several hours to unwind.
