“I’ve had worse, thanks to you.” Yuisa replied with a grunt, pulling her hand away from Vammy. “I’ll be fine as long as whatever this poison is doesn’t start doing anything…weird.” The rest of the place had fallen quiet, but Vammy could still tell…little demonic things running about below. The vines, whatever they were, were part of whatever demonic infection had taken over this place.

Heading up the stairs, the pair would soon find themselves at the top of what was some sort of lookout tower. It had a full three hundred sixty degree view over the singular piece of island land they found themselves on. In the room itself, was a skeletal human corpse holding a key, and a faded, old journal. Much of the text was illegible but there was some that she could read.

Well, it was nothing else important here save for the key. A bronze construct with lines chiseled on one side of it, though what it was for was up in the air.

@Guy0fV4lor

The voices fell silent for a few long, tense seconds.

Followed by a pleading request

“Sister no!”

There was the sound of someone running, and Finnegan would have only a few seconds before a sharp blade of water snapped the spear he was using right in half. He’d have only a few seconds to process the sight of two valtem.

One looked much like what Finnegan had expected they would. Bipedal, black scales covering her body and brandishing a sword and shield and wearing rudimentary armor.

The second was surlier, and lacking any clothes but a harpoon gripped tightly in her hands.

“Kill us? You? You couldn’t kill a youngling if you tried.” The scale covered one replied with a hiss. “This is no place for you dry skin. leave. Now. The only reason you still stand is because my sister begged me not to.”

Soyala was nowhere to be seen. Seems she had stealthily made a move somewhere else.

“...Sella. Why do you always resort to violence. Maybe-” The spear wielding one said.

“And what? Give them the opportunity to hurt us again? Sister, stop with your nonsense. Valtem and land dwellers can not get along.” The Valtems blade was drenched in water. Finn could see it slowly rotating across the blades edge.

The mark itself was difficult for the Raam to decipher. It seemed to be old Krysan writing, but it didn’t seem to mean anything she could discern immediately. Continuing on, though, she’d eventually see more of these markings carved into the trees. Soon enough though, she could hear telltale words of someone speaking - a small group of Krysa sitting around a small fire.

“We’ve been in this forest for days now.”

“Only a matter of time until we find her. We’re narrowing down the area - just keep markin the trees that are the wrong path.”

“Hmph, if only she cooperated, we could have been back home by now.”

“We should just burn this whole damn forest down.”

“I don’t imagine that’d help…”

Well, that was somewhat useful…but maybe she could get more information out of these rats?

@crimson Paladin

The fox wasn’t hard to locate, having taken up a position on a nearby tall dresser, chewing on some animal bones the yaga apparently was keeping up there for some reason. She was trying to jump and reach the fox, but she was dreadfully too short to be reaching up there without assistance.

Once Novak approached, Ayumi would hop off, land on the girls head earning a small squeal from her, before hopping onto a nearby table and yipping from the other end away from the two.

“They wouldn’t be the first to look for me.” The Yaga replied irritably, rubbing the top of her head. “They haven’t found me yet, and if they do, then they’ll get whats coming to them. They can’t compel me to do anything. If they try well…” She folded her arms across her chest. “I can still use magic for self defense. If that’s why you’re here, you’re wasting your time.”

Lissa

Lissa frowned as she studied the carved marking on the tree. She had come across many languages on her travels, and learned quite a number as well, but all that she could determine was that it was Krysan in nature, and probably old. The Raam idly wondered how old the script used had to be that she could still identify it as such but not actually decipher it. After a few minutes of frustration, she moved on deeper into the forest, wondering when she would finally find where this necromancer girl was residing.

When she came across a small camp of Krysa, though, she wasn’t too surprised, though indecisive at how she would approach the complication.

For the moment, eavesdropping would be sufficient.

Hiding behind a particularly thick tree, she listened into the conversation the small ratpeople were having around their fire. Surprisingly, it seemed like they were trying to find the same necromancer that she was looking for… although with a brute force method without using a charm.

The thought to approach the group came into her mind, but she quickly dismissed it. It was her hunch that allowing them to find this girl, either intentionally or inadvertently by being followed would probably cause more trouble than would be worth than hitting them up for more information. There was also the potential that they would attack her as well, however unlikely…

So Lissa just shrank back into the forest, leaving the Krysa to their own devices as she continued her search for the Yaga girl.

Not before throwing a questionable glance in the air, however.

"Hmm...well, perhaps we can do a little of a few things without raising suspicions.

I would like to see if anyone here can teach and show me about the local herbs in this area. This will let us move around with some reason that isn't outright too strange, and perhaps we can discover something the Krysa are talking about as well.

Any information we can get that gives us a better idea than them simply 'searching for a person of interest in the snowfields' and an attempted assassination spooking them on the Krysa's part."

It would help her learn a bit more when it came to herbs and so forth. Perhaps enough to get more on track with the very goal she'd been reminded of a moment ago by her own mind. Plus moving about would give them some excuse to talk to locals, or 'accidentally' overhear something potentially. And if in the end all they did was end up learning some more about the local area or other general little things otherwise...

"Then afterward we search for Lissa afterward before it gets dark, in case she hasn't returned yet from wanting to talk too your sister."

Ensure everyone was safe. Then they could put any gathered information together and see what their next major move could be. Because right now....things were generally not too well. It made her most definitely nervous, but it felt like the less risky thing to do. Even if Eirhild and Jivka stayed back and it was just her, at least it would be better than sitting and doing more nothing after getting some information.

...Many lives were on the line, after all. Both in Dawn and here.

Novak

"I'm not here to apprehend you, I just want to find out why the Krysa want me and my friends dead," Novak assured her, his voice increasingly frustrated. "That attack on that Krysa noble has turned them rabid, and they're not just going after you. They've put my caravan under siege for a crime we didn't even know of, let alone commit. If I don't somehow break them out or convince the Krysa of their innocence, everyone I've traveled with for as long as I can remember will die!"

He was done playing diplomatic or subtle. He was done being polite to this abrasive witch. At this point, there wasn't much else to do except clean as to exactly what he was here for and hope that she'd at least share something.

He couldn't compel any answer from her, of course. The witch did mention that she could use her magic in self-defense, and Novak had no intention of putting that to the test. If she refused to cooperate further, there wasn't much to do but leave before her definition of self-defense extended to ridding her home of unwelcome guests.

From what he could gather, the Krysa wanted this woman badly. She may be this person of interest that Lady Marushka was looking for, and was likely somehow involved in the assassination attempt. If this Yaga continued her refusal to share any information, it might be better for Novak to leave and leverage the information of her location and defenses with the Krysa, as risky as that may be.

It'd be best not to let the witch know that, though.

"A Living Vein. Don't think they're too common around these parts. But I didn't find it on my own. That, you have Raelzeth to thank"

Gideon gestured to the tired gremlin, as he thought for a moment just what sort of reward he could use. Thinking about the issues he's faced in his time here as well as the issues he will face in the future, there were a few ideas. Between the Living Vein that found itself here and the Pandillos they may eventually end up hunting in the future, there was one thing the Sage realized he'd need more than anything.

"As for your offer... I can only ask for one thing." Gideon would offer his spear to the dwarf. "Traveled with this spear for a long time. Too long, in fact... I fear it may break on me one day, especially with things like Pandillos about. I think an upgrade is an order, or a new weapon entirely. We Raam are trained in all matter of armaments, but I do still feel a bit attached to this spear. Still, I trust the keen eye of a Dwarf smith more than anything whether or not this weapon's still suitable for combat."

"Haha! We have the key! To something. Probably a door. Chest? Journal? Well, we'll find out." Vammy mentioned, turning her attention to the odd bronze construct with the lines on it. She'd fiddle around with chiseled lines to see if there was anything to note. If not, she'd lead her servant back down. "Let's see where this could belong to. It might be good, might be bad. I have a bad feeling about the basement so that's probably where we need to go." With that in mind, the demon lead the way towards the basement staircase.

A chilling jolt shot down Finnegan's spine like electricity as his spear was split in half within his very hands by a sudden spurt of water magic. For a moment, his steeled resolve faltered in the smallest amount; his footwork retreating a few steps back as he continued to hold his spear (or what was left of it) in a defensive stance.

"Hah-- seems we agree on one thing... Humans shouldn't have a damned thing to do with child-eating monsters like you." the Apostle sneered with disdain as he carefully backed away; observing the two Valtem with caution as he prepared to escape, "But when you run away; and return too late to save your sisters--" he continued; his tone becoming resolutely cold, "Just remember you chased off the only human stupid enough to consider helping you... Even if it goes against my every instinct."

Yuisa said nothing, merely following Vammy with her eyes as she’d proceed to follow the demon down the tower and then, down the stairs into the basement. The revolting sweet smell got only stronger here, with vines and plants growing along the walls nonstop and having completely taken over the walls and floor. But nothing overly important. Just more cells. More experiment halls as the stairs would continue deeper down into the island they found themselves on.

Eventually the descent would lead them to the final floor, thankfully having run into no more of those plant things. Here, there were two doors. A large metal door carved with the image of a serpent, the vines having pried open the doors and seemed to be where they were coming from. Vammy could feel faint, incredibly old divine power coming from them.

On the left of the wall, though, was…some sort of odd, heavy metal door that was shut. No obvious keyhole, it looked more like a giant metal slab with rivets and hinges in it. A small metal panel was in the wall next to it.

@Guy0fV4lor

“...the spines on this guy, hah.” The one named Sella chuckled. “Thinking he knows what hes talking about. Instead of the little kiddies, you should be more worried about me snacking on you.” She’d flash a row of sharp, pointed teeth at Finn. “And where do you think you’re going to run, too, huh? Too deep for a human to swim out. Too small for you to crawl out before we just drag you out. Maybe we’ll keep you locked up here like some pet-”

“Sella, that’s enough…! Why do you always insist on doing this? This is why the land dwellers hate us!” The second Valtem interjected. “I don’t know what you’re thinking human, but its just us two and one brood mother. The rest of our sisters are…already dead-”

“Melleph!” Sella snapped. “That’s not something he needs to know!”

“But if we just ask maybe-” Sella silenced Meleph with a glare.

@Click This

“...Hey, shh.” The ratmen fell silent, all looking up from around their campfire. One was looking around, one of his ears twitching. “...thought I heard something.” A few quiet seconds passed as Lissa quietly would move away, earning a nervous chuckle from the other Krysa.

“Prekratit, you fool. This forest is haunted! Don’t scare us like that!”

“Haunted by wolves, maybe. Stop being a child and get back to looking already.” The last member would snap to the others, making the rest get up from their post and start packing up the little camp to get moving again. Thankfully though, Lissa was now long gone.

So trees marked with that symbol were the wrong path, was it? A simple thing to keep in mind. It wouldn’t be too hard to avoid them or to keep things hopefully on the right path. As she’d walk through the snowy forest, the charm in her possession would grow slightly warm, and as she’d pass by a particular tree she’d feel the world before her…shift, slightly.

As if something had been pulled off her vision, the scenery changed before her just slightly.

This would happen a few more times as she’d wander through the forest, eventually reaching a small clearing with a cabin in the middle. She could hear voices from inside.

@Crusader Lord

“Well if its herbs you want,” Jivka got up from her seat, walking over to where a few dried plants were hanging on a nearby rack. “I’m your girl. One of them, anyways. A good hunter always knows to brush up on this stuff just in case they get injured.” She’d pluck a few and place them on the table. “This ones good for fevers,” She’d say, holding a dried bundle of short, fat leaves to her. “This one’ll help with swelling and this one goes great on meats.”

She’d laugh at the last one.

“If you want, I could show you some. Got nothin’ better to do right now and if I get any more bored I’ll probably go crack a rat skull or two.”

@crimson Paladin

“I don’t see how that’s my problem.” The Yaga replied curtly, folding her arms and narrowing her eyes at Novak. A few tense, quiet seconds would follow as Ayumi hopped along the table, nuzzling Novak’s arm. The only sound was the crackling of the fireplace and a cool breeze blowing in from outside.

“...look,” The Yaga sighed after a few moments. “Its not that I don’t understand, but I can’t exactly help even if I wanted to. I am far more terrified of the Lady of Death then I am of any rat or whoever it is that you serve. I’d rather be killed then have a relatively peaceful afterlife then die and be tortured for eternity as a lost soul in the Asphodel Meadows.” She moved over to a few cabinets, rummaging around and pulling out some bread, vegetables, plates, and a number of other foodstuffs and placing them on the table.

“...but if it’ll get you out of my fur, alI I can really say is that if they’re looking for me, then they believe one of two things. Rifelshka is involved in this assassination attempt, or they think I can help them find who is through some sort of contract with her.” The Yaga walked over to an egg basket, taking a few out and placing them next to the bread. “If its the former…well, they think they can use me in some manner.” A derisive chuckle from her told all one needed to know what she thought about it.

She’d start chopping some vegetables with a knife.

“Maybe you shouldn’t be so blinded by something so flimsy as friendship and stop to think that maybe they have legitimate reasons for targeting your caravan.” She’d leave the knife embedded in a particularly large onion and glance up at Novak.

@Cu Chulainn

“Aha, a spear is all? Well don’t you worry.” Asvar excitedly took the spear. “For helping little Raelzeth…I’ll do somethin’ special for ya. Come by tomorrow evening and she’ll be good as new, that’s a dwarven promise.” He’d run his hands over the spear, a low rumbling tone coming from his throat, a small smile forming on his lips as he’d give it a few test swings. “And a fine spear she already is. Won’t be much trouble at all.” He’d give Raelzeth a rough pat on the back, nearly causing her to stumble over. “If there’ll be nothing else, better get Raelzeth here something for her throat and get started on a plan for this beauty.”

It was getting late in the day too. The sun starting to sink a bit low over the horizon as dusk would settle over the village. Perhaps there was something he needed to do under the cover of darkness-

“Oh, seems I’m interrupting a party.” A blond haired woman with fierce eyes walked up to the group. Something about the woman made Gideons skin proverbially crawl, as if this womans mere presence was off-putting to the Raam. “I heard there was a dwarf smith here and was hoping to buy some things and get my blade looked at.”

“No trouble at all lass.” Asvar replied. “You’re that new girl that arrived with the elf aren’t you?”

“Aye.” Sorcha’s eyes glanced over Gideon briefly. “...not often a Raam travels this far past the mountains.”

When Vammy first thought of this place, she thought by "workshop" this place would havr more work benches and things of the sort but the more and more they explored, the more and more it seemed like some sort of dungeon with some odd humanoid experimentation. If she didnt have this demon inside her, she wondered if she'd feel disgusted by the thought alone, not to mention the disgustingly sweet smell in the air. If a look at Yuisa were anything to note, it is quite likely.

As they reached the final floor, Vammy found herself looking toward two doors. One was sealed and likely locked door. She wondered if the key in her possession would open it but there was no visible lock. Thr other door, covered in vines, was likely where they nedded to go for the object the god had told them about. First though, she decided to check out the other door, curious a out the panel next to it. The demon even wondered if perhaps she could melt the hinges on the door to remove it but that seem silly. "Let's check this door out, Yuisa. Maybe it'll have some hidden treasure."

She led the human servant of hers over to the door and looked around it a small bit, perhaps there was a secret keyhole that one could not see from afar. She'd poke at the panel, wondering what it was doing there. She half considered trying to heat the thing to a melting point but figured if there was a keyhole behind it that would be disadvantageous to it.

The Mothraki would also carefully examine the shape and size of the dried leaves that Jivka was showing her at the moment as well. Her hands would very carefully and gingerly handle them to get a better look, before laying each bundle back down in turn right where Jivka had placed them. She did not want to damage or crumble up what Jivka and her sister needed here for themselves after all. Indeed Nylah was grateful that she at least knew how to carefully handle something like this after her training so far with Miss Calra.

“If you want, I could show you some. Got nothin’ better to do right now and if I get any more bored I’ll probably go crack a rat skull or two.”
Jivka

W-Well, if it kept the other girl out of potential trouble at least...

"I'd be delighted to learn, Jivka!"

Nylah genuinely seemed to perk up a bit more excitedly at the prospect of getting to learn more about the local herbs. Not to mention the potential to pick some along the way to boot perhaps.

It would certainly be something to get her closer to what she wanted most to get done in all of this, but was also something that she wanted to learn about in general. Perhaps secondarily a chance to see more of the local area too, she supposed, and if they got lucky they could see something or overhear it maybe? But, eh, that was not the primary reason for agreeing to such an outing as this in all honesty. Didn't want to try to get too far ahead before they all could meet back up and talk again about what they'd learned or such.

Then perhaps they could figure out another move before things got even worse around here. Eventually maybe even meet up with Mie and her people somehow, though doing such without causing themselves or the Yaga any more Krysa troubles would certainly be an issue in and of itself. Ugh.

Finnegan tenetively retreated two steps further as the Valtem responded, his expression turning ever more venomous as he listened to the words of the first of the two. The Apostle's mouth curled into a snarl-- and then into a cruel, hateful smile, "You two and the broodmother?"

An icy chuckle carried on Finnegan’s breath, "Your broodmother is dead... And if I scream loud enough? Maybe whatever ripped her in half'll make it's way back and finish the job."

"The only reason I'm even talking to monsters like you is because I'm more afraid of what the things that killed your broodmother and sisters will do to the village."

Lissa

Lissa, perhaps, might have gotten some amusement out of the remaining campfire discussion among the Krysa, but she was long gone by the time they had finished. With an obvious solution to simply avoid the marked trees, she had a more obvious path forward. Finding the Yaga necromancer’s abode, then, became more or less child’s play with her charm as a guide, the trinket heating up as she passed by certain wards or illusions.

It wasn’t before long that she arrived at a clearing with a quaint little cabin in the center of it all.

For the home of a supposed dark magician, it looked downright comfortable and welcoming compared to what the Raam had been expecting. Still, she approached its door with some apprehension. Before she moved to knock on the door, she caught on to some words from inside. Had one of the ratfolk made it to the cabin before her? She couldn’t help but to briefly eavesdrop, but nonetheless, she rapped her knuckles against the door, before announcing her presence in a more vocal manner.

“Hello? Am I interrupting something?”

Dawn
who the fuck is this

Gideon nodded in affirmation to Asvar's promise, anticipating the dwarf will not disappoint in his delivery. Not only would this mean he'd get a much more reliable weapon, but also that he'd gauge Asvar's craftsmanship for himself to truly see if his smithing abilities were enough for Gideon to rely on for his planned militia. Still, given the dwarf's willingness to give Gideon an even grander reward, the Raam could only wonder if just an upgrade to his spear would be enough.

Perhaps he should have asked for armor? For a moment, Gideon wondered just how he'd look in a breastplate or a full suit of plate. Like some sort of knight, he'd surmise...

His train of thought would be interrupted by a strange, skin-crawling sensation. Looking over, Gideon would gaze at the source of this uncomfortable feeling. A blonde-haired swordwoman, someone he hasn't seen from the village yet. A stranger, perhaps a dangerous one? As far as Gideon was concerned, however, she was just that- a warrior from another land. He would look away, his arms crossed as if he was instinctively guarded from this strange

"Must've been the wind..." Gideon mentioned, under his breath, doing his best to dismiss the strange feeling for now. He turned to Sorcha, his stone cold glare easily hiding his discomfort. "Indeed, but I don't believe I'm quite like other Raam. You could say I was... forged from a different vein of iron? Is that how the saying goes?" Gideon turned to Asvar once more.
"Speaking of which, I'll see you tomorrow, then. I anticipate great things to come from your forge."

Giving Raelzeth another pat on the head, Gideon would begin to make his leave, although he did keep an eye on the strange woman. Perhaps staying away from her was the best course of action for his own sanity, if not health.

Novak

"Well, thank you for your help,," Novak replied, a bit taken back by both her professed innocence and her fear of the death goddess. There was no reason to press her further, he had all that he would be getting out of her. He in fact felt some sympathy for this woman and the Krysa's obsession with finding her just to use her connection to the death goddess. "I hoped it wouldn't have to come to this, but if I want to get to the bottom of this, I fear my only remaining course of action is to get information directly from the Krysa. I can't say I'm looking forward to that." He bowed respectfully to the Yaga and turned to leave.

Getting Mie out of there will be even harder if I give the Krysa a good reason to view us as enemies. They probably already harbor a grudge against us for the soldiers we killed in the initial attack.

Suddenly, a knock came at the door. From outside, a woman asked if she was interrupting. It was not a voice he recognized, and Novak feared that the Krysa had found them, perhaps having discovered his and Ayumi's footprints in the snow.

"If the rats have found us, you can count on my help," he whispered to the Yaga. He placed one on the hilt of his sword and tentatively approached the door. With some heavy trepidation, he slightly opened the door and peeked through to see who was knocking. He wasn't sure if the Yaga would approve of him opening her door, but if the ratfolk had found their way here, trouble would be fast approaching regardless.

It was of great relief when he saw that the person behind the door was not a Krysa, but a white-haired human-looking woman. Novak immediately released his hand from his sword and opened the door fully. He had no idea who this woman was, but she at least didn't look like she was with the Krysa. Perhaps she was the third member of the Dawn group mentioned by the moth girl- she certainly didn't look like one of the locals.

"Apologies, I was afraid you might be one of the Krysa patrols," he apologized to her, giving a small bow. "Friend of yours, by any chance?" he asked the Yaga.

The door was…well, a door.

Nothing overly special about it, but no particular key slot either. A smooth metal wall with a smooth metal panel next to the door. Upon poking said metal panel, there was a ‘fwoop’ noise as it would be pulled up into the wall. Underneath was a small glass semicircle buried in it. A box of light appeared in front of it seemingly coming from the small glass semicircle.

“-czzzt- pres-bzzzt- ID”

A loud crackling noise came from a small series of holes next to the panel.

@Guy0fV4lor

“...heh.” Sella chuckled, her eyes gleaming like a predatory fish in the darkness of the ocean eying its prey. The next instance happened far too fast for Finn to react. The sound of rushing water. His entire body being covered in ice cold water. Pain in his shoulder. Sella’s face mere inches from his, a toothy, sharp grin close enough he could smell her breath.

“Go on. Scream. I’m a monster, so I enjoy such sounds don't I, you dry skinned fool?” It was her blade. Her sword had been firmly planted in his shoulder. She’d twist it hard. “Give me some entertainment.” Her other hand was firmly gripping his neck, but not choking him.

“...S-sella…!” Immediately she turned her head towards her companion. A low growl as Finn would likely be relieved to see Soyala having managed to sneak up behind the other one, cutting open her side with one of her hunting knives while her spear was pressed roughly against her neck, drawing blood.

“Two can play that game, fish.” Soyala chuckled. “Now I really don’t think you believe killing that boy is worth me taking the life of this one, is it?” Sella glared, but she hadn’t let go quite yet.

@Crusader Lord

“You two have fun, alright?” Eirhild waved the other pair bye, not particularly interested in freezing.

“Alright.” Jivka grinned. She’d immediately head out of the cabin, grabbing a well worn logging ax from where it was laying nearby against the desk. “Hurry up, I wanna get outta here before some rat bastard puts me in a bad mood!” She’d shout back towards Nylah, though keeping up with the Yaga wouldn’t be too terribly hard as long as she didn’t let herself get distracted and kept a decent pace.

Soon the pair had left the village, heading out a bit towards the forest.

“A lotta the plants here you’ll have to dig a bit in the snow for.” She’d say. “They grow pretty well. Others you might find growing along the trees or even in some rocks. Just pay attention…like this one.” She’d say, using her foot to kick aside a pile of snow. Under it was a small plant, an herb with a fairly big root and small, three pronged leaves. “This one is a pretty potent poison. Makes an animals muscles lock up so they can’t move.” Jivka would lead Nylah through the forest for quite a while, pointing out a number of different plants and herbs. One could be used to induce vomiting - helpful for making someone spitup anything toxic they ate. A particular purple leafed plant was a pretty powerful hallucinogen and was sometimes used in yaga rituals, apparently.

“My favorite though is this one.” Jivka moved to a vine that was growing around a tree, pulling off one of the bright red flowers from it. “Oros leaf, we call it. If made right, it can really help one get stronger physically…well, if ya know survive the side effects. A number of the top Yagan hunters have to drink a draught made of this stuff to be recognized by all clans as anything more than a simple warrior.”

@crimson Paladin@Click This

“I don’t need your help,” She’d say as the knock came through the door. “But thanks.” The Yaga sighed, not seeming too bothered by it as Novak walked towards the door. She simply went back to her food preparation as he’d open the door, apologizing to Lissa. “Only my peace and quiet. If you’re here to harass me like this guy and his pet rat then you can get lost.” She’d grumpily respond to Lissa’s question.

Ayumi, would decide to use this time to steal some dried meat out of a nearby crate.

“That’s a no. I don’t know her, and I’ve already helped you as much as I have any desire to, so get lost.”

Friendly as ever, it seemed.

Sorcha watched Gideon leave, the woman not taking her eyes off him as he left. He did catch just the start of Sorcha and Asvar’s conversation, however - she was looking for a blacksmith. Though, not to hire, but to use their facilities herself, apparently wanting to maintain her own blade. Raelzeth waved bye, and was ushered back inside by Asvar.

“Raam, hello.” The familiar voice of Akando met his ears this time. “Heard you were helping the blacksmith with something. Seems you caught yourself quite the beast, too.” He’d offer the Raam a friendly, if somewhat competitive seeming grin. “Would’ve like to try and capture that beast myself. You busy right now? Was hoping you could stop by the hunters lodge. The rest of the hunters want to meet ya anyways…well. Soyala is out and Maira is still missing.”

Novak

This new arrival was a mystery to Novak. If those wards that the witch mentioned were any indication, he himself would not have found this place without Ayumi- so how did she get here?

Novak assessed the newcomer. The most distinct feature that he noticed was the woman's sword. It was long, straight, and double-edged, definitely not a Krysa or Chagawa weapon. The safest assumption was that if she was carrying it, she knew how to use it.

"I don't know why you're here, but good luck with her. She's not the...easiest person to deal with," he spoke to the white-haired woman. "And if anyone asks, you didn't see me, and I didn't see you. Come, Ayumi, let's go." The fox had already helped herself to some of the Yaga's food.

Novak turned back to the Yaga.

"When the Krysa eventually close in on your location, good luck in fending them off. If you kill enough of them, I might not need to get the rats to make peace with my caravan. Well...I suppose there's still the Yaga to worry about, but hopefully your kind are more reasonable than the rat-folk."

Was it wise to say that in front of the stranger? Probably not, and in hindsight he should have kept his mouth shut. On the other hand, this human-looking woman looked like an outsider, and she didn't have a squad of Krysa or Yaga behind her. Novak wondered...could she be the third member of the group from Dawn whom the Mothraki had mentioned? He knew nothing about this "Lissa", but who else would have any business (aside from the rats) to be be snooping around here?

"Oh, and miss?" he asked the white-haired woman as he stepped out. "This is a stab in the dark, but is your name Lissa by any chance?"

If he was wrong, and this was a third party with their own agenda, this mission would get even more complicated.

A suppressed scream passed through Finnegan's clenched teeth as the blade thrust through his shoulder. Instinctively; he reached toward the offending weapon, grabbing at it pitifully with his right hand-- as if trying to dislodge it from his shoulder in a desperate attempt to escape the flood of pain. The palm of the Apostle's right hand grew warmer each time it neared the bleeding hole torn in his shoulder; cooling only slightly as it slipped down the body of the Valtem's blood-slicked blade.

Between violent huffs of air, illusory chants slowly built in Finnegan's ears as he struggled to escape his escape his assailant-- panic and fear welled in the Apostle's heart as he endured the most harrowing injury of his entire life. The moment Sella had looked toward her companion; Finn's panicked hand tightly grasped the horn from his belt, lifting it to his lips...

With all of his might-- he blew.

Vammy was taken aback when the metal bit retracted and some bit of glass next to a small metal grate-like thing. Then, a cracked voice spoke to her! Pres-ID. Of course, the demon jumped back slightly, bumping into Yuisa. "Pres...ID? ID? Wait, what just spoke to us? Is this some sort of magic!?" The demon questioned Yuisa while studying the glass semicircle and metal bits. Nothing seemed to attack them from it and Vammy just looked on, pondering what she should do at this point. "Do you know what an 'ID' is?" The demon asked Yuisa, pondering the situation. Then, as if having some great idea, Vammy picked up the key from her pocket and waved it in front of the glass bit. "This is the only thing we've found here." She waved it in front of the glass, hoping that it would accept that as whatever this 'ID' was suppose to be. After all, keys opened doors and locks and things. She was mostly sure this would come about with no real benefit but it was worth a try. If not, they just needed to turn around and head towards the other door.

Nylah

The Mothraki felt a certain sense of fascination as she and Jivka made their way into and through the woods around the Yaga village. Indeed, along the way the girl would take careful mental notes, as well as try to gather a large amount of samples of what Jivka showed her along the way. Er, not trying to take everything from the forest mind. Just a big bunch to bring home, maybe even grow a couple of them if she could get them back home to! Yeah. Well, maybe at least. Her gathering along the way also wasn't so obsessive as to slow them down too much either, but enough to try to get as much as she reasonably could for potential future use and so forth.

If she had a choice, she'd fill her pouch of herbs with as many of these picked ingredients as she could! Within reason. Of course she would be at the same time trying to be as mindful as she could to properly separate things like poisonous things and medicinal ones, to avoid cross-contamination, though for all she knew even a poison could have its uses medicinally. At least based on what she knew from Miss Calra thus far, as little as that was...but still! She wanted to become a better herbalist. A better magic user. Better able to help, to heal, to cure, and to fight. And this was just another step on that road, as well as a step closer toward her ultimate goal.

...That one person just needed to hold on a bit longer. Just until she could find something useful for that strange malady. Please. It meant the world to her.

And then, after that, they could finally talk about all the things they never got to say or finish back then.

But for now, she was almost happy to be temporarily removed from the current crisis situation going on. Not that it all could be rushed to some perfect ending, but a small and real breather would perhaps help her own mind with handling it all later. Once they got back of course.

As Jivka pulled down the vine with red flowers, Nylah did her best to keep her wings from fluttering in barely-restrained excitement. She'd been fascinated with everything Jivka was showing and teaching her thus far, rather visibly and even audibly so, and on top of the semi-obsessive sample gathering she'd done along the way she was perhaps very much in her element for a change. Or at least removed from how she'd been back at Jivka and her sister's place.

The Mothraki then moved closer too what Jivka was trying to show her, gingerly and delicately running her fingers over the petals of the flower, all before looking at the others still attached to the vine. She then looked back at Jivka, her eyes beaming with a certain sense of wonder and excitement even now. Whether it all came off as 'adorable and cute' (her natural cuteness was already definitely a thing indeed) or decidedly 'not' cute, though, would be entirely up to the Yaga who had agreed to escort her out there. Yet if nothing else Nylah was doing her best to be a rather eager and attentive student indeed.

"It's beautiful as well! Though what are the side effects?"

Yeah, those could be a worry for its potential use. On the other hand, this was all just part of the learning process as well. No herb or such was perfect. Just like people, really, now that she thought about it.
