Hey there, happy holidays.

I hope all is good on your side. It’s been a couple days, would it be possible if I can have an ETA on my CS and that I need to change anything? No rush since we’re all enjoying the holidays, I am just eager for the next step.

@Conscripts: Ah sorry got a talk in with my co-GMs, and ultimately we agreed he needs to have done a bit more to earn his spot in the knights? I had meant to post this the other day and it slipped my mind, I'm sorry. ^^;

Thanks for the follow-up! I'd take it that a bit more would mean more distinction, so I changed it that he took part in some battles afterwards. Maybe that might be enough? Let me know if I misunderstood or would need more than that!

Here with my tail between my legs, how far fetched would it be for me to return with Sergio back from a smoke break? I think I've figured the problem out.

Was talking with @HereComesTheSnow recently and he mentioned he'd been playing in this relaunch. I really enjoyed the character concept I had going on the last time around before depression hit hard and killed my posting vibe.

Is there a chance you might be accepting CS applications? Or, failing that, if I could get my name jotted down for the next time you are?

Excited to hear it! I'll dig up my old CS and read some more, see what tweaking I need to do for this go around. Glad to (soon) be aboard.

oh wow a relationship chart that is definitely not several months late wont include everyone and will probably be never updated ever again hurray

Cecilia
A fellow archer and prankster, Lein feels both kinship and rivalry with her. On one hand, she's the first go-to whenever he needs a second hand to go along tugging at the backstage strings, and he's happy to cover for her whenever she's off slacking. There's a fine line between playful antagonism and being a headache, and Lein appreciates that the extent of Cecilia's tomfoolery has tended toward harmless quips. On the other hand, Lein acknowledges in the purest sense of the craft, Cecilia's archery is simply superior - sharper and harder at longer ranges, even capable of windward feats Lein wouldn't able to dream of. That hasn't stopped Lein from pestering her with regular challenges of marksmanship, though, looking suspiciously at the green bow she always wields.

Fanilly
Lein regards the young Knight-Captain with as much respect as he holds for any other Captain: none. The title of Captain as a marker of authority means very little to him, and he would renege on his supposed oath to the Knights if he deems Fanilly to be a credible danger. And yes, she has proved herself to be at least some kind of danger - her brash decision making and nervousness has thrown him and his associates into peril several times already. Yet besides a few jabs muttered half-breath, Lein lets Fanilly alone and follows her command without too much of a fuss. His obedience is not rooted in respect, but of pity. The weight of nobility is a heavy one, and Lein knows this all too well. It's the reason why he ditched his old life, after all. Lein wants no part in the politicking of pompous nitwits that wear a crown in place of their hearts, but neither does he want to add to the burden of someone trapped under the weight of it all.

Tyaethe
From 'hag' to 'tapeworm', Lein has called the vampiric paladin so many different slanderous names it's impossible to recount them all. Lein is prone to disappear whenever she appears, especially after the first couple of times she had caught him smuggling goods out the Castle. But it's unclear to many why Lein continues to antagonize Tyaethe every time he meets her despite most of their encounters leaving Lein thoroughly worse off than before. His standoffish nature is partially driven by embittered disappointment. She had all the power to affect the annals of time, and yet she has apparently done nothing but wallow in her authority. Whatever motivation the paladin has or lack thereof, to Lein, Tyaethe represents the apathetic past that plagues the present.

Fionn
Between the many colorful personalities that inhabit the Knights, Lein regards Fionn as the most grounded. No family scandal to shy from view nor possessing arcane prowess to vaporize his foes - at least, no such dirt Lein could dig up. Not that such neutrality is unwelcome; when all's said and done, Lein would count the Veltian to be there when it matters. Lein's penchance for paranoia does keep him second-guessing the man. If Lein was to find out that Fionn turns out to be the secret exiled king of the unseelie, he'd not be surprised in the least. And in that respect, toying around with him does seem to bring a little too much trouble for its worth...

Fleuri
If Lein had to think of the most picturesque knight, he'd point to Fleuri. Handsome, competent, a great dancer to boot. And from his brief personal trysts and the reputation that precedes the Champion, Fleuri has given no reason to doubt the legitimacy of his convictions. And indeed, the eschewing of glory in pursuit of one's personal cause is exactly what Lein is happy to praise. Yet aside from the occasional mischief and surface cordiality, Lein has put some distance between himself and Fleuri. Faith is a fickle thing, and despite having close associations with the Church himself, Lein finds suspicion in any who professes to hold Mayon too close. Who's the one calling the shots up above, anyhow?

Gerard
Lein thinks Gerard is neither malicious nor stupid. In fact, Lein fully trusts that the man is married to the Knights' cause. Though Lein finds there's a tension with the man's strive to idealism and his brusque pragmatism, a tension that tends to boil over into wrath, one that Lein finds a little too volatile to handle carelessly. If he's not by the young knight's side on the battlefield on the right side of a sword, Lein would rather not be at his side at all. Still, if a problem requires power in the shape of a blade, then Lein would be more than happy to try and call Gerard in. That is - point to the danger and hide behind him.

Renar
In short, someone to keep out. Renar's modus operandi is probably the closest to Lein's professed philosophy than most other knights - survive, at any cost. If it means to kick someone while they are down, then there should be no question in ensuring one's continuance. Yet something about the 'Bastard of Brias' chafes at Lein. He hasn't bothered to dig into why, simply concluding a vague notion of untrustworthiness to be handled at least at an arm's length.

Serenity
All things considered, Serenity should be the antithesis to Lein. the Lioness is the most stalwart knight, consumed entirely by their sense of duty that exudes its own sort of arrogance. And one would be right, with Lein throwing jabs at the Lioness whenever a good enough chance presents itself. Though there is a certain romance to having someone so numbingly dedicated to the craft that they seemingly perfectly replicate the speeches of old Hundi knightly tales by sheer bad attitude. And even if he does buck every order Serenity barks at him on the battlefield, he's willing to at least entertain her sense of command every once in a while out of curiosity. But beneath following the Lioness with a detached sense of amusement, Lein feels a pang of concern for all the regrets that Serenity may be setting herself up to have.

Sergio
The man has far too much patience for Lein's shenanigans and Lein is more than happy to seek the end of his limits. He's fine to string along for a little bit, but Lein has since learned to keep him out of the loop lest he invite too much unwanted attention to the deeper circuits of his plots. Sure, Sergio alone may not do anything to compromise, but his two eyes can easily turn into hundreds if Lein isn't careful.

Steffen
Seemingly a prime target to tease. Lein's experiences of Ingvarr warriors and their fearsome culture have taught him some valuable lessons one picking the correct battles, and Steffen's insistence on trying the diplomatic approach in a decidedly hostile environment has both surprised and fascinated Lein. He's not yet decided if the Ingvarr's idealism is borne out of naivete or determination, but he's happy to stick around to find out. Especially if that means Lein gets to push all his paperwork unto Steffen in exchange for an odd change of hands here and there.

Lein
Lenivicius ves Estouls. Lady Cteline. Two-Tongue Cashmere. Sister O'raven. The Archer-Knight 'Lein' is but one of many names the one-armed Hundi has went by, as monikers are used and discarded like a raincoat against a storm. To the many enemies he's made over his globetrotting days, he's a boisterous braggart who swoops in without warning to make an uproar at a nearby tavern and leave with the wealthiest patrons a dozen coins short. Lein knows enough to exploit this reputation to either make others underestimate him, or paint a target on his back to divert attention away from his other schemes. And when he's done with the Roses, the wandering Hundi is happy to let 'Lein' die so he may once again, be set adrift into the world.

Steffy's relation chart

Fanilly: Out of everyone, Fanilly is actually the person Steffen roots for the most. Yes indeed a lot of people think she is unfit for her position as Knight Captain, for good reasons, it's hard to really feel any emotions other than that of encouragement and compassion, especially when he understood perfectly how it is to have to conform to how people see you. If anything, the irritation, to put it nicely, he'd have would belong to the Iron Roses nobility, whoever that may be, who dictated this full moon tradition. But he knew being vocal about it would just make things difficult for him, as he's an outlander knight. Not every knight is equal. Nevertheless, Steffen secretly nurtures a hope that she would succeed in whatever she wants to do, and would try to at the very least make her life not anymore complicated than it already is.

Tyaethe: And why is that tradition still around? Well, Steffen couldn't blame Tyaethe for everything, but it's not hard to see that she's a very stubborn traditionalist, acting as the veto to every changes. And the complicated thing is that it's for an understandable reason. She has been around since the beginning, have definitely seen a lot of goodbyes. It's not hard to envision the feeling she has. Steffen doesn't know exactly how to feel about the vampire honestly, aside from maybe curiosity. Her existence and lengthy experience is worth learning about regardless.

Cecilia: It's hard to have any peace and quiet around her. Steffen would be nice to her more often than not, but she is getting on his nerves a bit with her laziness and poor discipline, always trying to find reasons to give her paperwork to others (mostly him), and driving him on the ropes with his own. He is also curious at that bow as well, what's the story behind that?

Serenity: A model knight, what else could he say. It's quite hard to criticize the young lady's shrewdness when it comes to knightly affairs. Her impeccable technique and style with or without her weapon is something Steffen could learn from, and he's more than ok doing training with her if she wants it. He could trust that Serenity would not be using him for personal gains. However, he could tell very obviously that there's some degree of animosity between her and Fanilly, which from first glance looked concerning, speaking from first-hand experience.

Renar: Steffen doesn't really care for the man's social ambitions. Both of them are sticking to their own path, and he didn't seem to bother Steffen on that, so he didn't want to dip his horns in where he didn't need to. He could see where the so-called 'Bastard of Brias' came from, and he'd welcome his dirty tricks in a battle any day. It's not like Steffen adheres strictly to the knightly honor anyway. But he sometimes feels it's...unnecessary? Steffen is willing to swipe aside his notion of honor if it meant dealing with a serious threat, but it's a regrettable result that he found no joy in. For Renar, it feels like he revels in being this ruthless efficiency type instead, if which true would be a little off-putting.

Gerard: Whereas Serenity is the model knight, Gerard is the model protagonist for a lot of stories and legends he had heard, a lot of them coming from his homeland Barukstaed. A man from peasant upbringings, with his convictions and skills, rising through to become a knight in shining armor, vowing to serve the people he loved. That's literature materials right there, except for the heroes in these stories tend to love deities more than people. But regardless, Steffen liked Gerard just for that. It's easier to hear stories than become one.

Fionn: A nice guy, and nicer to be around too, if it wasn't for him being a bit too generous to others, including Steffen, when they hang out. But that is the Ingvarr's problem, not Fionn's. The knight's origin as a mercenary from Velt does allow for more compatibility and more stories to share with one another, compared to more native Thaln knights who likely still saw Barukstaed as that frozen barren wasteland in the legends.

Fleuri: Another devoted knight also, this one coming from a noble family instead. But the one thing that distinguishes Fleuri from the others like him would be the blight in his history, and how he came back from it more devoted than ever. It's a little ironic that the title of 'Flower of the North' is tied to such a dark time in his life, when it's actually quite apt for Fleuri now. A flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all. The Flower of the North learned from his mistakes and overcame it. It's quite admirable.

Lein: More paperwork, but he repays Steffen much better than Cecilia ever would. Surprisingly enough, the Ingvarr enjoys the company with him, despite being the target of the teasing he's often subjected to. In fact, being teased like that did make conversations with Lein more personal than with other knights. He felt like there's more to it than this image of a very unbecoming troublemaker Hundi with a prosthetic arm. It doesn't help that the stories about him are quite inconsistent, but it's not like Steffen could really judge him on that. After all, he too had some old scars to hide.

Vier: A warrior that utilizes magic to bolster his swordsmanship power, a homeschooled style even, despite being taboo learning magic outside of the official mage academy. It's actually more interesting to see what other individuals tend to come up with outside of the boundaries of religious rule. Other than that, he's a nice guy, probably needs a bit more combat training.

Sergio: If anything, Sergio reminds Steffen of himself, but without much of the baggage that came with it. The Ingvarr would have spent more time chatting and training with him if not for scheduling conflict and the fact that the Knight of the Harvest Moon wasn't very much around during mealtime.

Nico: It's interesting how there's a lot of sellswords and mercenaries who's quite an exemplary knight and a decent person. Steffen certainly did enjoy any conversations they had, and nothing much else to say against him, aside from maybe one thing.

Steffen: He would like to believe that his past is behind him, one that if he did not say anything about, no one would know. But sometimes, in moments of solitude, he'd be reminded of his mistakes. In a way, wishing for a peaceful life is a selfish desire, and in his attempts to achieve that, he closed his heart to other's suffering. And its consequences had been heart-breaking. He wanted to make up for it; if only he had been more caring to his brother, or more involved with his new tribe. But redemption and forgiveness is too little too late at this point. He could only be better for the sake of this new home, new family.

Fleuri's character opinion chart:

Fanilly
She's so far proven to be a fine captain and a fine warrior, despite her young age. Her captaincy has already been tested somewhat, but will she be able to handle failure with the same grace? Will she be able to make the difficult decision? Will she keep it together when things become overwhelming? Only time will tell, and I hope she's up to it.

Tyaethe
A little eccentric she may be, but Dame Tyaethe is nonetheless a living legend. A former companion of the Starlight Saint, the powers of a vampire without the weaknesses due to her good relationship to Reon, centuries of experience, and powerful magic, yet she's always been content to serve rather than command. I hope that I can live up to what she expects of me.

Gerard
Sir Gerard is a good sort. A poor kid who became a mercenary, gained faith in Reon, and eventually obtained knighthood through his deeds in battle. He knows little about nobility, but understand knighthood well- just the kind of person that Thaln's noble class needs more of.

Fionn
Like Gerard, he's a pious commoner-to-knight success story. I haven't interacted with him much, but he's quite the stalwart knight, and despite his commoner background, he gets along very well with royalty. The aristocracy of Thaln needs more people like Gerard and Fionn. And a lot less of people like Lord Brias and Lord Durante.

Renar
I have had little contact with Sir Renar, but I know that he's been grievously wronged by his father, Lord Brias. Joining the Iron Roses may have given him the titles of noble and knight that his father denied him, but wrongs like that aren't just forgotten, as evidenced by his interactions with his half-brother at the ball. Still, I have to admire that he never let his father break him, and had the will to become a knight.

Lein
Sir Lein is not the type of person I'd expect to join the Iron Roses. He's more of a rogue than a knight, with no noble name and no history that I am aware of. He's spoken of his past before, and claims that his family are all dead, but I can't be sure if he's telling the truth. His lack of a right arm suggests he's endured terrible trauma in the past, and his possession of such a fine magical prosthesis suggests that he is well-connected. Looking back at the ball, I wonder- was his Lady Cteline disguise just him being an irreverent gadfly as usual...or could he have been hiding from someone?

Serenity
From what I know from my family's contacts, Dame Serenity was House Arcedeen's attempt to raise up a candidate for Captain of the Iron Roses. I'm not surprised that seniors chose Fanilly over her. Serenity may be skilled and well-educated, but she's independent and doesn't like to rely on anyone, and that's not getting into the possible political motivations behind her upbringing. Even so, she's a fine knight and a definite boon to the order. One thing I've noticed of her is that she doesn't drink. Is it a matter of piety and temperance, or does she not want to risk loosening her lips for some reason?

Nicomede
If there's any knight in the Iron Roses with an even worse father than Renar's, it's Sir Nicomede. To be disowned, disgraced, and disinherited for making a brief withdrawal in the face of a larger force- and one that led to a loyalist victory regardless- Lord Durant should be ashamed of himself. As for Nicomede himself, he's a fine fighter, a capable user of water magic, and- contrary to what his father may say- a competent tactician.

Steffen
The horned Ingvarr people are fine warriors, and Sir Steffen is no exception. I don't know much about of his past, other than that he's a hero of the War of the Red Flag who personally saved the lives of several Iron Roses, and having fought alongside him against Alfrid, I can attest that he's definitely someone to have at one's side in battle.

Vier
Like myself, Sir Vier built his reputation fighting for money and glory before embarking on the path of an Iron Rose. Like Steffen, he's proven to be a good knight to fight alongside. His mixture of swordsmanship and magic is an intriguing combination.

Cecilia
Like Lein, Cecilia is more of a rogue than an archetypical knight. Her past is a mystery, other than that she first came to prominence during the war of the Red Flag. Still, her skill at archery and wind magic makes her quite a very useful addition to the Roses, and I can't deny that she's contributed to Thaln's cause.

@VitaVitaAR

tips hat Hello! :)

I've been out of RPing for the past... counts on fingers probably 3 years, as far as actively participating in an RP is concerned, and one that I sadly had to drop as it was during the time I had received my current job.

I was wondering if you were still allowing/looking for any players to fill out the ranks. I'm looking for something active I can join, and I like what I've read/seen so far about this RP. Neat CSs, some familiar old faces (and some new with insane post counts), and an interesting story.

Of course, I understand if after such a long uptime you're full, but I'd be thankful if I could sink my teeth back into some all-nighter google doc sessions for an active RP :)
