Cascade

Cascade's head turn was quick upon catching the fiendish scent on the wind. She stared at the spot on the tent, where she slowly, but surely, noticed a dent on the tent roof. Then the indent disappeared and she heard flapping wings. The smell informed her that it just flew straight up into the air and out of her divine sense.

She told the others, "Hey guys? I think something fiendish was spying on this camp. It just flew up and out of my senses..."

After informing them, she heard Aura say that she has something to report. She answered, "By all means! I'd like to hear," She took out her trident once more, ready to join the highwaymen in the counterattack after hearing Aura and Hawk's report.

Jørmund

The cleric smiled slightly at Aura's comment of him strikinga cord. "I believe that is what I was aiming for, drunkely so and perhaps not the best thought out. However I was hoping the one would lose himself to his anger and act rashly. Perhaps there is still a chance." Jørmund pondered a loud as he followed Aura to the leader of the encampment. If this leader was worth their salt they would at least listen to what Aura had to say.

Cascade's comment was slightly disheartening. The fact someone or something had managed to spy on what they were doing would likely lead to the attackers to have some knowledge of what the plans for the defense, and possibly counter attack, would be. This being would likely need to be dealt with before to long.

Flicker was quick to turn their attention back to Aura. They had seen the sympathy in Cascade's expression and, while grateful she didn't seem to be judging them, felt incredibly uncomfortable. "Quit the suspense, Aura, and tell us already," they said as they crossed their arms. They did their best to put on the best stoic expression they could, though as Cascade mentioned that someone was spying on them, their face took on a hint of apprehension. "Quietly, though, in case anyone is still listening."

When Aura revealed that he had sent her familiar on ahead to do some scouting. The leader of the highwaymen regarded her with an impressed nod. "Let's hear it." The simic hybrid said. "The more eyes we can get on whoever's attacking, the better." The leader then listened to what Aura had to report. As Arua's report went on, the impressed look on the leader's face steadily grew even more so. "We'll be able to make good use of this." She said once Aura was finished. "Well done. I'll remember this once the battle is over." The leader then turned back to all the assembled defenders and raised her voice for all to hear. "Those of you who can fight will be expected to at the very least serve as the last line of defense!" She called out. "Those who contribute more than the bare minimum can expect to be rewarded more than the bare minimum too!"

Cascade

Cascade nods to the Simic Hybrid and she looks to the rest of the party as she informs them, "I'll help where they need it most. Just shout if you need me, and I'll come running!"

She channels the power of Deep Sashelas once again to give her the ice skates once again, and she amends her statement, "Or should I say, I'll skate to you?" She shrugs before she speeds off.

At first, Cascade notices that she's going faster than she intended, and thought about slowing down a bit. But, she noticed some of the attacking forces snuck past the front lines of the camp and were heading towards the people who weren't fighting. Just seeing them gave Cascade an idea.

Without missing a beat, Cascade put away her trident and readied the shield in front of her. Then she proceeded to charge at those enemies, shouting out a battle cry of sorts,

"CHEEEEEEEEE-HOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

The enemy forces who snuck in didn't have a chance. Like a powerful wave from the ocean, Cascade rammed into her foes. Some were tossed into the air, some were shoved to the ground off to the side, and a few unlucky ones landed right underneath her feet.

One enemy tried to stop her with magic...

"Shit shit shit! Stop stop STOP!"

But it was to no avail, and he was sent flying screaming.

But Cascade didn't stop. Her sheer athleticism, along with Deep Sashelas's magic, allowed her to keep on speeding. She guided her momentum and sheer force from that momentum to not only ram down her foes but also to get to where she needed to be quickly.

Aura thought for a moment before deciding where she wanted to go. She was definitly not a front lines type of person though she would enjoy the glory that came from it. She had already managed to gain a good bit of info for them but it could never hurt to keep an eye out. "I'm not really one for big battles, but I can at least provide some more intel and some cover fire for those farther in the feild. I'll hold the line and keep an eye on things with Hawk." As she said this the bird circled above her before landing on her shoulder.

"Wish I had some time to change you to something a little more hearty but you have been fine so far in this form so it can wait till later." She was once again speaking directly to the bird who's feathers seemed to fluff in anticipation for the comming battle. "I need you to continue to keep an eye on thing. I will pop in every now and then to get a look from your vantage point." Hawk nodded and once again took off into the sky.

After a moment of watching the bird fly off and making sure she knew where her friends were going to head she headed off, mentally comunicating to hawk to keep a close eye on Jormund who, of course, would be heading to the front lines. She had expected nothing else of him. From there she joined the blocked and began firing eldritch blasts as cover fire and popping in the occational true strike to ensure an easier target when one got too close. When she had time she would look through the eyes of Hawk and shout out positions of the enemy the bird could see, but as she had instructed most of the intel was around the areas Jormund currently was, so when she popped into the bird's vision she would occationally have him swoop down and give locations to enemies Jormund might not have seen otherwise.

Both Eldritch Blast and True Strike are cantrips so I didn't figure them into any number boost since technically they are zero level spells. :P

Flicker had no interest in glory or praise, merely in helping drive back the enemy as best as they could and supporting those who needed it. As such, they nodded towards Cascade after the water genasi had finished speaking. "Same for me," they said, folding their arms and attempting to look as awake and alert as they could despite their exhaustion. "Just point me to where I'm needed."

Unlike Cascade, they had no divine power on their side, so they had to resort to running. Thankfully, their monk training meant they were fast enough on their feet to zip around the battlefield, relieving any flagging fighters and coming to the aid of those who were being outnumbered. As they were still tired after the incident at the tower, they decided to use their ki to strengthen them, keeping their reflexes as sharp as they were when they were well-rested, and giving them the power needed to beat back any enemies that crossed their path.

Jørmund

After Aura had disclosed the information to the leader of the highway men, Jørmund called upon Tharmekhûl to steady his own resolve and strengthen the steel of his mail. The earthen cleric knew he would rather lead the charge however his talents would likely served in the ranks. With another short incantation Jørmund bestows a short term enchantment on his mace in an attempt to give his own weapon a more solid strike. He nodded to his companions and began to run towards the front line.

By the time Jørmund had arrived at the front lines, many of the highway men had organized into a rough formation. It was moments later when the first of the line of attackers had arrived in their own semblance of a formation and began the attack. It seemed as though several of them recognized Jørmund as the northman, as the started to beeline towards his location in the ranks. Three of the fanatics had barely reached the cleric before they started to draw back into a vicious swing. Jørmund was able to catch one with his shield, the second and third however both landed and nearly threw him off balance. Fortunately there were a few nearby highway men who fell upon the fanatics while the were focused on Jørmund.

Quickly the forge cleric swung his mace at the enemy in front of him. The strike was enough to send the being sprawling on the ground unmoving. "You think I, Jørmund Hammerfist, will be so easy bring down!? Fool you are for thinking so. Even you're leaders cower behind you! You will find no honor here only cold steel. Drop you weapons and flee." The words roared from the earth genasi as he stepped over the fallen foe toward the next foe in front of him. Looking to his left he noticed two of the highway men laying on the ground wounded but still alive. "Both of you stand. This battle is not over yet. Stand with me and fight on.

The melee that ensued from here forward was a blur to the cleric. Parts of it he would only remember due to Aura's hawk coming down to relay information in regards to the locations of enemy maneuvers near his small formation. Each time he made sure to thank hawk and Aura for their assistance.

The battle raged long into the night. Beneath the light of the moon, the highwaymen and the attackers clashed again and again. For a time, both sides were locked into an intractable stalemate. But between Cascade and Flicker relieving the highwaymen where they faltered, Aura providing regular intelligence updates, and Jørmund fighting valiantly on the front lines, the battle looked to be turning in favor of the highwaymen as the first rays of dawn crested the horizon. But the battle wasn't over yet. Despite the stubborn defense put up by the highwaymen, the attackers refused to back down. And what's more, they had yet to bring their strongest fighters to bear against the defensive line.

That wouldn't be the case for long though.

Ever since Jørmund drank that bottle of Zing, the spectral visage of Haraldr that only he could see was rarely far from sight. The ghostly form of the raider watched the earth genasi as he fought, grinning with cruel enjoyment when Jørmund was struck or lost ground to the attackers and grimacing in annoyance when Jørmund felled a foe or pushed back an enemy advance. But as Jørmund struck down one more attacker, the enemy's fall revealed that Haraldr had moved to stand right behind the adversary. The raider was grinning at Jørmund. And after a moment, Haraldr opened his mouth in silent, sadistic laughter.

A split second later, a ball of burning bile flew through the apparition, dashing it from existence and striking Jørmund on the chest. "I have been waiting for this moment!" A familiar ignan voice exclaimed. The burning bipedal newt that Aura had identified as Yosef stood ten feet away from Jørmund. "Ervdul cannot save you now, Northman!" Yosef declared. "For your mockery, I will remind you in the worst of ways that fire melts frost!"

A little further back from Yosef, the animated drow statue known as Ervdul moved towards the right flank of the battlefield while observing a group of highwaymen led by the warforged that had commanded the reinforcements the party had summoned earlier. Now the constructed commander was leading a charge up the left hand side of the battlefield to great effect against the attackers.

Meanwhile, fresh reinforcements from both sides charge into the fray to relive their comrades and strike against their foes.

Cascade

Cascade took a moment to survey the battle area and she saw Jormund take a heavy blow from a newt like creature. Seeing how badly Jormund was hurt, she naturally hurried over to him. She reached behind him to hear Yosef's words about fire melting frost. She couldn't help but snicker.

She answered, "Yeah, shoots brah! Fire and Frost just creates water,"

She then places a free hand on Jormund and another on her holy symbol. A combination of light and fresh water splashes from her hand and onto Jormund's wounds. As a result, Jormund was healed and should be ready to continue fighting. After that, she moves to stand by Jormund's side, ready to fight Yosef.

Aura was about to inform the others of the injury Jormund had sustained while she had been watching. She couldn't help but chucked at Cascade's quip just before Aura retured to her own senses, sure that Flicker had seen the interaction as well. Hawk remained at his heightened elevetion, Aura not wanting to get the bird caught up in the battle. It was fine and dandy to use him for recon but the time and materials it took to summon him back was too much to handle in the heat of a battle. She would rather keep him around to spot other potential threats.

Muttering to herself, "Does steam count as air?" she raised her hand can cursed the being that had just assulted Jormund. Before fireing off and Eldritch blast in it's direction, with a force the others had not seen from here in while. "Bold move showing your ugly face now after hiding behind your fodder all night." She yelled as the spell impacted and the curse she had placed earlier seemed to ripple across the creature's body.

Aura used her bonus action to cast Hex on Yosef, and then cast Eldritch blast at him for a spicy nartural 20+5 to hit (25) double all rolled damage dice (I beleive this includes the Hex Dice)
only 10 force damage 8+2 (gotta love when you roll crappy on a crit)
As well as 10 Necrotic damage 5+5 (Better)
Yosef also has disadvantage on all strength based ability checks until Aura drops concentration on Hex.

Descending upon the right flank, Ervdul moved among the combatants with a confident stride. He paused as he passed a highwayman and struck him down with a single punch. "You six!" Ervdul then barked as he turned to the six attackers who had been bearing down on the highwayman "Assist go and assist in pushing back the war construct's advance!" The attackers voiced their compliance, but Ervdul didn't wait for it. He had already moved on to another part of the battlefield where he stuck down another highwayman. "You two!" Ervdul then addressed the two attackers who had been fighting the highwayman. "Ensure that Yosef does not fall to his folly."

Meanwhile, Yosef recovered from Aura's Hex and Eldritch Blast with an angry hiss. "I am going to enjoy killing that caster once I am done with you!" Yosef exclaimed before charging Jørmund and Cascade with scimitar in hand. As he closed the distance, Yosef struck at Jørmund first. Yosef wrong for Jørmund's neck with a blow that would have taken the earth genasi's head clean off had Jørmund not deflected the blow. However, Jørmund did not escape without injury. Yosef's scimitar connected with Jørmund jawbone, leaving behind a nasty gash. Yosef then made a similar swing at Cascade. However, Yosef didn't have nearly as much a desire to see Cascade dead as he did with Jørmund. And so Cascade was more easily able to turn away the reptile's blade.

Jørmund

The burning bile had caught Jørmund off guard as it had come from the visage of Haraldr. As the visage faded and before him stood the being behind the voice from earlier. The being know as Yosef stood before the cleric boasting of how they have been waiting for this moment, how they were going to teach Jørmund in all the worst ways how fire melts frost, and that they were going to enjoy killing Aura. The earth genasi shifted his weight to ensure his footing would keep him balanced while staring down the being in front of him. He would do all he could to keep this creature at bay. Jørmund would tolerate attacks and blows against himself but not his companions. It was bad enough Flicker had been injured during the earlier fight.

"The more you speak the more you sound like a fool to me. Fire melts frost this is known, but I've had camp fires hotter than you let alone the forge where I've spent most of my days." He spat the words at Yosef. "You've also failed to realize my heritage is that of stone and earth, not ice. It will take more fire than you can muster to melt stone." Jørmund replied to Yosef before uttering the incantation to imbue his mace with magic once more. "I suppose I shouldn't be surprised if you just turn out to be full of hot air. You did wait till most of your minions had done the hard work before showing yourself. Just know you won't know any satisfaction here only cold steel. Come coward let see if your heat is even close to the forge in which I draw my strength from." The last sentence roared from the cleric as he brought the mace down on Yosef.

As the fighting continued, Flicker's reflexes were getting notably less and less sharp as they were beginning to get worn down. This was why they were less quick to act when Yosef finally entered the fray, and why they didn't comment on the newt's poor battle banter. In fact, one might be able to read dull surprise in the fire genasi's expression as they looked Yosef up and down. When they had heard the ignan voice beforehand, they had expected another fire genasi, or even was worried they might be going up against a genuine efreeti. But no, Yosef was a flaming amphibian instead, and Flicker was too tired to decide whether they should be disappointed or not. "Let's just get this over with," they muttered, before joining their comrades in their fight against the newt. For this fight, instead of attacking with their fists as they normally did, they decided instead to draw their shortsword, and attempted to strike at Yosef with the blade.

The battle continues around the party as their fight continues. The six attackers Ervdul ordered to the other side of the field slam into the side of the highwayman advance to great effect. Meanwhile, the two attackers Ervdul sent to aid Yosef swing their mauls at Jørmund and Cascade, but all they strike is steadfast armor. Both sides of the battle on the right flank begin shifting towards the center as attackers and highwaymen alike move to strike against enemy leaders or high value targets.

Cascade

Cascade was concerned when she saw Yosef manage to land a hit on Jormund and leave a nasty gash. But she was able to use her shield to deflect attacks directed at her. When she saw Yosef's forces surround him, she couldn't help but smile. She spoke to him, "Oh, Brah. You made a terrible mistake,"

She gives a quick prayer, "Deep Sashelas, I offer this prayer to thee. Grant me your strength and allow me to show them the Fury of the Tides!"

Her Holy Symbol shines and her hair seems to become much more aquatic than before. Instead of simply gently floating in the air like she was underwater as it had always been, her hair seems to turn white and violently curls upwards in the air, like the breaking ocean waves she often surfed at home.

"HAAAAAAAA!"

She gives a cry as she strikes at Yosef, and should her attack lands, he would be knocked backwards into one of his allies.

"HAAAAAAAA!"

Cascade cried as she struck her blow.

"AAAAAAAAA!"

Yosef cried as the force of Cascade's blow sent the reptile flying. Yosef crashed into the crony behind him. Who in turn crashed into the crony behind him. This created a domino effect that displaced a small chunk of the enemy and left Yosef groaning on the ground. "By the gods... I think... I cracked a rib." Yosef wheezed. "What... the Hells... was that?"

Aura watched as the two forces clashed on the battle feild. She had half a mind to move even father back from the battlefield. She really didn't like being this close. She looked around trying to assess what she should do. Now that Yosef was on the ground he was much harder for her to attack from this distance. She scanned the clashing forces and decided to attempt to either goad or reason with the more rational of the two leaders. It would really depend on how the man took her words.

She turned to one of the men beside her. "Make sure nobody attacks me my senses will not be my own." She then proceeded to transfer her sight and hearing to Hawk. Telepathically communicating to the bird to move above Ervdul far enough that she assumed the man wouldn't be able to easily attack the bird, which he does with no complaints. Aura looks down at the battle feild from the bird's view.

"There is still time to attempt to talk this out like civilized poeple, before your hot headed lizard friend ends with more than a few broken bones. Though I suppose you would have to act quickly, my firends tend to work fast." Aura called down to the second enemy leader from Hawk. She honestly doubted he would call a cease fire at this point, but it was worth a shot. How the man decided to take her comments was entirely up to him but maybe she would be able to distract him at the very least.

Aura uses her action to transfer her senses to Hawk and talk through the bird to Ervdul.

Seeing his fellow attack leader in danger, Ervdul punched out two more highwayman before moving to join his reptilian counterpart. "Are you done being reckless now, Yoseph?" Ervdul asked.

"Not until the Northman is dead!" Yosef hissed in reply as he picked himself up before charging down towards where Jørmund was despite Ervdul's protests. Joseph struck twice against the earth genasi, the first blow scoring a hit against a gap in Jørmund's chain mail and the second missing by a wide margin.

Jørmund

The cleric grunted as the blade found a gap in his mail right where another wound had been magically mended just moments ago by Cascade. It seemed to Jørmund that despite just having been thrown back this Yoseph was bound and determined to keep fighting. That at least earned him some respect from the earth genasi though foolish as it maybe, granted Jørmund often had his own foolish actions and many were during battle. The blow had also caused Jørmund's magic to faulter some as he started to loose concentration. A quick breath and refocusing his mind away from the pain allowed the cleric to keep the magic in place. He squared himself up to block any potential in coming blows while the cleric muttered an incantation just audible enough for those near him to hear. Quickly the fresh wound mended some of the way as other injures mended.

With this slight rejuvenation, Jørmund brought his mace back for another swing.
The blow landed solidly against Yoseph's body from what the genasi could tell, much like his fist did against Haraldr's nose.

"Are you so certain you will survive this long enough to see me fall? Even after you stuck me notice how little blood there is fool. No I will make sure that you will not live long enough to enjoy my defeat. If you wish to live I suggest you flee now. This will be the only time I will offer ypu this chance." Jørmund says to Yoseph while readying his mace for another blow should the being decide to persist in it's folly.
