"I said I ain't talking about no corn on the cob, Mag damn it!" Brutrumukk declared, now slightly frustrated by Tsu mishearing his words for some reason. He paused a moment then to take a breath before continuing on. "Ok so it's like this: Eunuch corn is those 'orse things what have that one 'orn on their 'eads." Brutrumukk explained patiently. "An' alley corn is one o those 'orse things with the one 'orn on their 'eads, but it can also fly."
Tsu listened to Brutrumukk, completely unfazed by his angry outburst. After he explained what he meant, it looked like a light bulb turned on for Tsu as she realized what he was trying to say,
"Ohhh! You meant a unicorn! Why didn't you say so?"
She then answered his earlier question, "Hmmm...I do remember that there was a pair of unicorns that live in Prismeer. But I don't know what happened to the two of them after Prismeer was split apart. Haven't seen or heard them since,"
"Ohhh! You meant a unicorn! Why didn't you say so?"
"I did." Brutrumukk stated exasperatedly.
"Hmmm...I do remember that there was a pair of unicorns that live in Prismeer. But I don't know what happened to the two of them after Prismeer was split apart. Haven't seen or heard them since,"
"Could either of 'em fly?" Brutrumukk asked, a hopeful look on his face now that he was getting somewhere.
Brutrumukk visibly deflated when Tsu revealed that the unicorns could not fly. He'd thought he was onto something when she mentioned the unicorns, but unfortunately he was mistaken. When Tsu apologized, Brutrumukk waved her off. "Ah don't worry 'bout it, Sue. It ain't yer fault. We'll figure it out eventually." Brutrumukk said. "Sorry fer snappin' at ya just now as well."
Tsu gave a kind smile back to Brutrumukk at his apology and she answered, "Oh, it's alright. Communication is much harder than many people realize. So it's completely understandable,"
Gabriel would soon finish his bath, and after finished their hearty meals, refreshing desserts and drinks, they would soon leave the inn with Tsu waving them goodbye and wishing them good luck.
Tsu even lets Brutrumukk take a rope to tow the raft in the water just in case.
...And Brutrumukk would find that rope handy very soon....
Hither
???
The party continues their trek from the Inn and through the swampy wilderness of Hither. Eventually, the path before them is enshrouded in fog for a good moment. The ground beneath them starts to become harder to traverse through, the sticky mud slows them down significantly. Thankfully, there is something they can use before them to overcome this problem: The beginnings of a causeway! Upon stepping on it, they find that their movement is unhampered...but the causeways are rickety and old.
Just one wrong step, even from Jub, could cause a plank to break and let the traveler fall! So, the party find themselves watching their steps and taking great care not to rush. Brutrumukk easily uses the rope to tug the raft below them from above, thanks to his strength.
Eventually, the party look up to take in their surroundings as best as they can through the fog.
A foggy marsh stretches out before them. Rickety causeways made of wooden planks form a wide, web-like structure above the bog. Three hundred feet away, many of these causeways converge on an enormous, ivy-covered tree stump that rises a good ten feet above the twenty-foot-high fog bank that enshrouds it.
An odd feeling suddenly comes over you. Maybe Zavakri's mathematical tendencies are getting to you, but you can't help but feel the need to count heads in your party. That's easy to do, since you're in the lead.
1... 2,3... 4... 5... 6...?
Somewhere along the way, a hunched, hooded figure has joined the group!
Upon noticing that her eyes are on them, the hooded figure immediately acts. They whipped out a...red hot branding iron?! They press it against Zavakri first!!
Zavakri lets out a pained cry! She clutches her arm, and the party can see that the cloth of her sleeve is smoldering as she clutches her arm with the other hand.
"Blood and Spittle! That bloody burned!!! Who did that?!"
The figure swiftly and dexterously moves along the side and under the legs of the rest of the party! He next aims at Brutrumukk with the Branding Iron, and...apparently lands a hit in a very sensitive area: On the bottom of his foot while he was walking mid stride!
Next, Brutrumukk would feel fire on the bottom of his foot! It's as though someone threw a piece of coal that was still on fire on it and it got stuck there!!!
While Brutrumukk reacts with pain, Aurora sees that this hooded figure noticed Sir Talavar's sword hanging from Brutrumukk's belt, and plucked it, before he moves past her! This is where she can strike at them if she so desired!
After he moves past her and makes it ten feet ahead of her, he turns and faces the entire party, for them to see!
After Brutrumukk and Zavakri react with pain, almost all of the party see a hooded figure dash in front of them, somehow past them, and take off the cloak with a flourish to reveal a Harengon wearing a long blue scarf along with bandit clothes. He is carrying a red hot branding iron and a wooden shield on the other.
He lifts up Sir Talavar's sword so they can see, and he comments, "This is quite a treasure! Quite fitting for the Brigand Prince of Prismeer!" He laughs as he runs off again, and the music of his theme starts up again!
When the Harengon reveals himself, you only hear his voice. You don't see him anywhere...! Who is he?! Where is he?!
((Out of Character: Agdon Longscarf is now invisible to you two))
As he runs, other Harengon brigands show themselves, some of them playing bagpipes, and a lot of them have their weapons out and singing Agdon Longscarf's song.
Some of the brigands hop out of skiffs and move. All of them are ready for battle, and so is Aurora...
Jub: 18 Agdon Longscarf: 17 (He goes first due to Surprise and Home Turf) Gabriel: 17 Harengon brigands: 15 (They go first due to Surprise and Home Turf Advantage) Aurora: 15 Harengon Snipers: 10 Brutrumukk: 7 Zavakri: 4
Brutrumukk: Surprised! Roll Initiative Jub: Surprised! Roll Initiative Zavakri: Surprised! Rolled Initiative Gabriel: Surprised! Roll Initiative
The wooden causeways are 5 feet wide and in poor shape. Characters who walk across the planks are assumed to be taking care to avoid unsafe areas. If a character runs across the planks, roll a d8 at the end of the character's turn. On a 7 or 8, part of the causeway falls away beneath the character, who must succeed on a DC 10 Dexterity saving throw to avoid falling off the plank and into the bog. While prone in the muck, the character is restrained. A character can use an action to try to free itself or another creature from the muck, doing so with a successful DC 10 Strength (Athletics) check.
Agdon Longscarf's turn Movement: Full 70 feet in parts! As he goes, he takes his attack action and bonus action. After he reveals himself, his scarf trails 15 feet behind him! Action: Multiattack Branding Iron attack. One to Zavakri and the other to Brutrumukk.
Branding Iron 1: 12 Just hits Zavakri's AC. Branding Iron 1 Advantage (Surprise) : 9 Branding Iron Damage: 13 Fire Damage. Bringing her down to 1 HP.
Branding Iron 2: Natural 20 Branding Iron 2 Advantage (Surprise) : ....No need. He already got a Natural 20. Branding Iron Damage: 17 Fire Damage.
Bonus Action: Quick Fingers! 26 Sleight of Hand against Brutrumukk's Passive Perception. Agdon Longscarf successfully pilfers Sir Talavar's sword!
Harengon brigands turn: Some of them move the full 30 feet. But all of them are taking the Dodge action.
Aurora had tried to use her short sword to knock the intruder over or slow them down. The strike unfortunately went to wide and missed the intruder. Once revealed that it was Agdon, leader of the bunny brigades, Rory stowed he short sword and drew her bow. As the other Harengon seemed to be ready to avoid any incoming strikes, the elf knocked an arrow and drew it back taking aim at Agdon.
Once the arrow left the bow, she move over towards Zavakri. "Are you ok?" she asks both Zavakri and Brutrumukk.
Aurora shoots the arrow, and she sees that it finds purchase on the Brigand Prince himself. He gives a quick hiss of pain.
Zavakri answers Aurora as she kneels, "Owww! I'm fine! Just...Gimme a moment!" Two crossbow bolts fly over her thanks to the fact that she was now kneeling.
The party sees four more crossbolts flying to one specific target: Brutrumukk!
Brutrumukk manages to dodge some of them, but two find purchase in his arms.
Upon seeing his dear friend hurt, Jub finds the initiative needed to take action!

@XxFellsingxX Your turn! Jub actually beat Agdon Longscarf in initiative!
Once the initial shock of the surprise attack had worn off, Jub found himself filled with rage upon seeing his companion (and perch) hurt in such a manner. He grabbed his wand from out of his pocket and pointed it at Agdon."You like fire so much, longears? Catch!" he shouted, before sending a Firebolt out towards the bandit.
Jub casts Fire Bolt at Agdon Longscarf. Fire Bolt to hit Agdon Longscarf = 21 Fire Bolt damage = 8 ALSO may I use Fury of the Small to add 2 points of extra damage? (Seems appropriate right now)
Jub's mote of fire burns furiously, matching his rage, and it flies to Agdon Longscarf. He turns just in time to see it burn a bit of his tail and land on his long blue scarf. He yelps and cries as he hops in place, maneuvering the scarf so he can stomp it out with his large rabbit's foot. His foot rapidly thumps away on the wooden causeway before the fire was put out.
He looks to the group and he comments, "It seems there's more dangerous folk among you than just the big guy and that human lass. Well, we'll just have to take care of ya too then!"
He then runs again, and this time leaps across the gap between two paths of causeways to land in front of Aurora. He then grins at her and winks as he quips, "Like I always say: Ladies first!" He then takes his branding iron and he strikes out to her.
In all of her life, Aurora has never felt any pain quite like being branded. If anything, nothing probably even came close to this pain...!
Agdon Longscarf's brand struck her right on collarbone of her chest. After she reacts in pain, she falls over unconscious. Agdon pulls back the Branding Iron, seeming to realize that striking her again would serve no purpose. She was already unconscious. He did swiftly grab something from her, and he runs off laughing and singing his theme song with the rest of the Harengon Brigands.

Movement: Moves the full 70 feet in parts. Moves to attack Aurora and then moves away.
Action: Multiattack with the Branding Iron to Aurora! First Branding Iron to hit: ...Natural 20. First Branding Iron Damage Critical: 22 Fire Damage. Aurora is now unconscious. But thankfully, she is not in danger of dying.
Second Branding Iron to hit: Stop! Stop! She's already down!
Bonus Action: Quick Fingers! ...Not even gonna roll with Aurora being unconscious. He automatically succeeds and steals her Thieves Tools.
Gritting his teeth, Gabriel only had enough time to lean back as something darted past him to put a hand on the banded hilt of his rapier as his allies on either side of his hissed in pain. Gabriel stepped forward to catch the elf she fell, he didn't have too long to inspect the nasty burn that was seared into Aurora's skin but he wasn't concerned by that. No respectable combatant used a brand, it was an implement for cattle or worse slaves.
Aurora was heavy in his arms, but she felt a warmth spread through her chest as the bard disparately muttered something "Get up, rise, fight again. Stay with me." spell having taken effect he allowed her to rest on the causeway before he looked up, anger in his eyes.
Gabriel's words reach Aurora, and bring her back from unconscious. The warmth of his words lead her back to painful burning and stinging of reality. She is currently conscious, but still prone on the ground.
When she tries to find Agdon Longscarf, she would find that she can't see him anywhere. Where did he go? Did he flee?
(Out of Character: Agdon Longscarf is now invisible to you!)
The Harengon Brigands seem to be bolstered by the events of the battle thus far, and how Agdon Longscarf managed to severely weaken if not outright knock out most of the party. One jumps off of the skiff and dashes forward, while one stays and others advance.
Four of them ready their slings, one of the calling out, "Stick with the plan, guys! We can do this! For Agdon Longscarf!"
With a resounding cheer, they acted. The first one who called out used his sling and aimed the ammunition at Brutrumukk. It bounced off of his arm harmlessly, but the other brigand who aimed him managed to hit Brutrumukk right between the eyes, causing the bugbear to fall unconscious, before he even knew what hit him.
"Nice shot, David!"
"I can match that, no problem!"
Another Harengon called out before slinging an attack at Zavakri. Just like with Brutrumukk, the ammunition managed to hit her square between the eyes, causing her to fall unconscious.
"Now for the Half-Elf!"
A Harengon Brigand tries to attack Gabriel with the sling, only for Gabriel to deftly knock the pebble away with his blade.

Aurora is back to consciousness! However, she is prone, and will need to spend half of her movement to get up.
Movement: 5 Harengon brigands moved 30 feet. 1 stayed in place to attack, while a seventh Harengon Brigand used his action to Dash. Action: One dashed, 4 attacked! The other two were too far away to do anything.
First Harengon Brigand Sling attack to Brutrumukk: 12 Missed!
Second Harengon Brigand Sling attack to Brutrumukk: 21 Damage: 5 Bludgeoning Damage. That matches his current HP, so Brutrumukk is now unconscious at 0 HP. Not in Danger of dying, so no need to roll Death Saving Throws.
@XxFellsingxX Jub will need to make either a Strength (Athletics) roll to hold onto Brutrumukk, or a Dexterity (Acrobatics) roll to hop off before Brutrumukk's collapse sends the little goblin into a precarious situation.
Third Harengon Brigand Sling attack to Zavakri: 21 Damage: 5 Bludgeoning Damage. She only had 1 HP, so she is also unconscious, but not in danger of dying.
Fourth Harengon Brigand Sling to Gabriel: 21 Disadvantage due to Gabriel's Dodge Action: 9
The searing pain caused Aurora to black out. She came to hearing Gabriel saying to stay with him. While she was certain he wasn't there a moment ago the clatter of stone on metal reminded her that the brigades had ambushed the group. Getting to her feet Rory looked around only to find that she could not see the leader of the brigades anymore. Had he gone invisible somehow? With a slight turn she saw that both Brutrumukk and Zavakri were down on the walk way with Gabe still standing. The situation did not look good. "Gabriel I don't know exactly what just happened but I don't think we can fight them all right now." The elf picked up her bow, quickly knocked an arrow, and loosed it at the nearest brigade. The arrow went wide, now lost in the fog. "It might be best of we get Zavakri and Brutrumukk onto the raft, and retreat some so we can get them back on their feet."
The elf quickly went around the fallen bugbear to Zavakri, knowing she couldn't move Brutrumukk. Rory does keep an eye on the rabbit folk to attempt to evade any stones or other stricks, while readying herself to drag the unconscious sorcerer.
Aurora uses half her movement to stand up, attacks but likely misses with a 6, (natural 1 on the roll yikes). She then uses her remaining movement to go to Zavakri ready to move her back towards the raft.
Aurora's recovery did not go unnoticed when she stood up and moved.
"Hey! She's up!" "Well, what are you waiting for?! Get her!"
Three of the snipers fired at Aurora, but she dodged all of the bolts. It's not surprising considering how she could easily fall again if one of those bolts hit her.
"Get the healer too!" Another cried, and three more of the snipers fired at Gabriel. One bolt was clearly meant to be a feint since two of the three bolts hit him after he dodged the first one. The two bolts that hit him clearly struck hard.

Second Harengon Sniper Attack to Aurora: 21 Disadvantage: 9 Missed!
Third Harengon Sniper Attack to Aurora: Natural 20 Disadvantage: 8 Missed!

As Brutrumukk went toppling to the ground, he brought Jub down with him, causing the goblin to land under him and be slightly crushed by the bugbear's weight. "Yeah... okay... really feeling those three meals you had today, buddy..." Jub wheezed as he tried his best to wiggle out from under his comrade. Once he's out from under the bugbear, he stands up and surveys the area, looking first to his companions and then at the bandits. As Aurora had previously said, there was no way they were going to be able to take all of them on, especially not with two of their teammates down and out. "This is not good," He looks down at Brutrumukk and then back towards the raft. He attempts to grab the bugbear and drag him.
Jub uses half his movement to end his Prone condition. He rolls a 11 on an Athletics check
Agdon Longscarf laughed as he watched the party take the blows and he called out to the bandits, "Nice job, boys!"
He was clearly listening to his allies, because he raced over to Gabriel next. He smirked at the bard and he mocked, "And you called me talentless?" He then moved to strike Gabriel with the red hot branding iron.
Gabriel managed to dodge the first strike, but the second strike landed right on Gabriel's forehead. Just like Aurora, Gabriel passed out from the searing hot pain.
Agdon next swiped something from his finger, and ran back to his allies, this time not running as far away.
One Brigand took this opportunity to run past Gabriel and focus his ire on Jub! He swung his club at the small goblin and it struck him!
The rest flung rocks and other ammunition from their slings. The rocks instantly pelted Jub and he too fell unconscious. Aurora managed to dodge some of them, but one good rock to the head was enough to knock her out again.
The last she heard was cheering and whooping from the Brigands before unconsciousness takes her...
In Victory, there is Loss... And in Loss, there is Victory.

In the depths of unconsciousness, the party finds rest. They don't know how long they've slept, but they do come to consciousness when they hear...humming?
They open their eyes to see three large iron cages hanging from wooden beams that extend out from this balcony over the lake below. Trapped inside one of the cages with Jub is a smiling satyr, "Hello there!" he says.
Aurora and Brutrumukk are trapped in a second cage, while Gabriel and Zavakri are trapped in a third one. All three of these cages dangle out from a cottage wall and over swampy waters...
When Jub woke from his unconsciousness, his first instinct was to check for where his belongings were. Once he had located his wand, spellbook and other knickknacks, he raised his head to survey his surroundings and immediately noticed that not only was he in a cage hanging above water, but he also had a cellmate, one he did no recognize. He immediately pulled his hood down over his face and scooched over to the corner of the cage furthest away from the strange satyr. Once his back was against the side of the cage, he started glancing all directions trying to figure out where the heck he was.
When Brutrumukk awoke in the iron cage, all he could remember of his time at Brigands Tollway was a burning pain beneath his foot. "I suppose we deserved that." Brutrumukk said as he took in his surroundings. "We just went traipsin' into their turf. No plan. No stealth. No surprise they got us so easily... Ah well. Live an' learn. Time to go." With that said, Brutrumukk stood up, seized the iron bars in front of him, and spent the next twelve seconds trying to pull them apart as best he could.
Turn One Bonus Action: Brutrumukk enters a rage. Action: Brutrumukk attempts to bend the bars. He rolls a 6 and a 6.
Turn Two Action: Brutrumukk attempts to bend the bars. He rolls a 17 and a 19.
Gabriel may has well woken up with egg on his face, possibly worse maybe an egg of a foul lizard from somewhere like Chult, they had giant lizards there at least that's what rumor has it. Rubbing his temples the bard noticed his finger lacked the touch of bronze it had on it, his middle finger having a faint white ring around it where what should have been a keepsake was missing.
"Those..Fucking rabbits." immediately Gabe checked the rest of his belongings all of which were untouched and while simultaneously cursing he said a silent prayer to Correllon for the luck of not being completely robbed by Agdon and his croneys.
Gabriel gently shook Zavakri's shoulder while whil he looked to address whomever was humming to himself, a satyr it looked and why he was smiling was less of an issue to him but more a concern as to why a captive would be cheery.
"What's with the smiles oi? And who in the Nine Hells are you?" Gabriel was not happy, and though he would have gotten the pleasantries out of the way the mark on his forehead and his missing ring was just insult to injury.
