I'm still thinking of which character I'll make for this, tbh. I'll tell everyone what it is when one of the character ideas I have gets more concrete, though!

So running a concept by you:

A while back (like years ago now), I had an idea of an FFX Al Behd character that became a nobody when one of her own used her as a guinea pig in an expirament to study the Heartless. Would that be at home here?

Back when i first thought of it I was leaning towards her having more of a lightning/electricity oriented power. But rethinking it now, I think having her embodying Darkness and abilities thereof would be more sensible in context.

They’re both decent ideas. I mean Larxene is an Organization member in the games and she’s arguably the greatest electricity user.

The way I think about darkness though, is that it’s a wide field of magic. It might not make sense to be a master of all of it. Darkness can imitate any of the normal magics, but you’d probably still have a specialty within that set. Though I imagine there are some abilities that are exclusive to darkness as well. What kind of powers did you have in mind?

It's weird. I have personality and backstory lined up but it's the powers and abilities part that has me stumped. In essence he'll be a gunfighter, and the only idea I have is that he can shoot bullets into and out of shadows as if they were portals. Imagine Revolver Ocelot's trick shots but cranked up even further.

Interested. Probably will try out with a Pacifist character who has to rely on their pet Dreameater to do the combat for angsty reasons.

That sounds fine by me. It's somewhat reminiscent of Xigbar.

That sounds fun. Though... I don't really have a big place for dreameaters in this setting. It should still work just fine if we treat him as more of a special case - a creature that can enter into dreams and mess with them. Rather than as one of a huge class of creatures, if that makes sense.

I'd have to think on that. Best off the top of my head is she'd play like a Shadow. Maybe incorporate lightning into it as more offensive ability but with darkness infused.

I adore Kingdom Hearts, even with its weird backwardsly written lore, so I'm definitely interested. However I do have a few questions, mostly on the nature of the RP in general.

Where do you envision this sitting on the angsty-edgy matrix? Angst is an inherent part of the setting, especially with Nobodies, but there's also usually a good amout of plucky hopeful optimism to balance it out and I don't want to get stuck in an endless loop of everything being bad.

What are your plans for conflict resolution/game structure? Is it going to be exclusively narrative focused, a basic dice system, or will there be actual RPG elements?

It will be fairly edgy. Our characters are not in a great spot. They've lost what they cared for most, and now they work tirelessly to prevent the rest of the verse from suffering the same fate. But that doesn't mean it has to be all doom and gloom. Characters will deal with this situation in different ways, and some will put on a brighter face than others. More than that, there is some hope left in them - otherwise they wouldn't even be trying to make a difference. There will be victories and accomplishments I'm sure; probably even some new friends will be made. But yeah it definitely isn't going to be as happy and hopeful as when Sora's around.

I want it to mostly be resolved narratively, but I will provide some guidelines. I'll ask each player to roughly rate their strengths in different areas, and to describe their most important abilities. This is mostly just to get an idea what each of us is working with. When I introduce an enemy, I will give brief tags OOC to indicate how powerful they are and how much auto-hitting is acceptable. Basically there will be very minor mechanics - mostly just guidelines for our narrative battles.
