Name:Orlok
Gender:Cis Male
Species:Vampire
Abilities/Magic:As a first generation Vampire, Orlok is more powerful than the average Vampire. With greater strength, speed, and durability than a human, Orlok easily overpowers his choice of food. Orlok can also heal any wound almost instantly. Orlok is able to climb up walls without any aid and can slink around almost silently. As a stronger Vampire, Orlok is able to transform, becoming either a bat, wolf, or fog for a few minutes before reverting. Orlok can also create new Vampires by draining a human’s blood and then have them drink his.
Orlok has trained in magic under Dracula, though he is nowhere as strong as the Count. Orlok can mesmerize humans with his gaze, convincing them to do things or see him as a regular human. Orlok can also commune with spirits, able to see, speak to them, and summon them forth using a ritual. And lastly, Orlok has learned to have dominion over animals, specifically rats, using them to invade areas and carry the plague.
Skills:Orlok has become a master hunter and tracker, from his countless years of living in the wilderness. He is also very stealthy, existing just on the periphery of human civilization. Orlok is also a living repository of tales, legends, and history as he lived through much of it.
Weaknesses:As a Vampire, Orlok has all the standard weaknesses. He requires blood to survive, as without it he can’t heal and would eventually fall into a coma and die. Only human blood will fully satisfy his taste, though animal blood could sustain him for a few hours.
Direct sunlight causes Orlok’s skin to burst into flame, quickly engulfing his body. Another sure way to kill a Vampire is to pierce their heart with a wooden stake or behead them. Any direct contact with silver will cause Orlok to burn. Also any religious items held by someone who truly believes in it will repel Orlok.
Personality Traits:Vigilant, Predatory, Wise, Reckless, Loyal, Rude
Backstory:Born centuries ago, Orlok lived among a tribe of shepherds. While empires were rising and falling in other parts of the world, the people of the mountains lived a simple life. Orlok would be the second of two sons, born to the chief of the tribe. While his brother was born beautiful and well loved by the other shepherds, from a young age Orlok would be ridiculed for his rat like face. This quickly brought tensions between the brothers.
As Orlok aged, his monstrous form became worse as he was pale as a corpse and began losing hair. Due to these physical setbacks, Orlok would be rejected by the woman he loved. She would then marry his brother not even a month later. Feeling dejected, Orlok would disappear into the mountains for several days. It was there that he first heard the whisper of the evil thing that lived within the mountain. This being would speak to Orlok, scaring him and sending him back to his tribe.
A few weeks later and the tribe was preparing for a Pagan celebration, one that required the men of the tribe to hunt an animal as sacrifice. Orlok would not be lucky in this effort, only managing to entrap a squirrel. Returning to the tribe, Orlok saw that his brother had caught a massive hog. Upon being mocked by his brother over this, Orlok snapped and stabbed his brother. He would then go into a frenzy, attacking everyone else.
Eventually, Orlok would be fought back, taking several arrows to his body, each a fatal wound. And yet Orlok survived, fleeing into the mountains. Bleeding profusely, Orlok would seek out the voice, which revealed itself to be the demon Belial. The demon would offer Orlok power and eternal life, to which Orlok hastily agreed. With the last of his blood draining from his body, Orlok would drink Belial’s blood, turning him into a Vampire.
Orlok would then return the next night to his tribe, killing the remaining members in their sleep. Orlok would then retreat into the mountains, where he would spend the next several hundred years, feeding on those who crossed the mountain. In time he would become aware of other Vampires living across Europe. Orlok would find that he was stronger than these other Vampires as he was directly transformed by a demon and not another Vampire.
Orlok would eventually accrue some wealth, buying an old castle near where he had grown up. Taking the title Graf Orlok, he would rule over a small part of the mountains, the local villagers aware of his true nature. Then the Ottomans would invade the mountains, only to be fought of by a young Count Dracula. Orlok would endeavor to meet the man, only to discover that he too was a Vampire, transformed by a demon.
Orlok and Dracula would quickly become allies, Dracula training Orlok in the ways of magic. After his initial defeat in a revolt, Dracula would begin wandering the world. Left without his friend, Orlok too would travel, heading west. He would spread the plague wherever he went, before ending up in the city of Wisborg. After that the record ended as Orlok was believed killed by a pure maiden.
It wouldn’t be until the 1970s that Dracula would find the burial of his friend. Using the power of the Necronomicon, Dracula would resurrect Orlok. Now in modern day, Orlok would spend a few years adapting, all the while being made a member of the Council of Night by Dracula.
