PS5's extra library isn't doing it for me. Maybe I'll switch it up and start something I got on Steam.

Moonscars: The combat is alright. (Far more playable once you get a certain amulet that makes you slower and take far less damage per hit.) But the narrative is baffling, the exploration is bad (like finding rewards from 100 to 200 in currency, where dying makes you lose thousands), and its unique mechanics (like losing your sub-powers every time you find a save point) feel pointlessly unrewarding.

Observation: Obnoxious non-game.

Call Of The Sea: Finding the puzzle is basically most of the puzzle in this impossibly boring game. (Especially since the journal keeps records of everything important/the MC does most of the thinking for you.)

Tinykin: Moving to the 2nd world made my character disappear and become a shadow on the floor. And I could not get it to work again by restarting.

Megaman 11: My first game of the series, and it was not a fun experience. The voice acting was fucking awful, and the movement felt incredibly clunky. (And it almost immediately went into a f**king trial-and-error chase sequence. My favorite.)

Evil West: It reminded me of a PS2 era game, flaws and all. Fun for a time, but way too long and repetitive in its content. (I wish it was just ten hours long.) And I just couldn't be bothered to replay another entire mission for the privilege to reset my stats again. Because the fucking upgrade made my character's gun worse.

I finished Baldur's Gate 3. I kinda think that game loses steam right at the last leg of the race but that's like saying the last bite of a five star meal wasn't as good as the entire meal up to that point.

I kinda lost interest and "finished it just to finish it" right as you get to the Titular Gate of Baldur (three)™ because the city somehow doesn't feel quite as expansive and alive as the other areas, lol.

Man, any Mega Man after 7 (and even then...) is not worth your time. Just like any Mega Man X after 4 is not worth it. Mega Man 9 and 10 tried to capture the vibe of the 8-bit games but decided the best way to do that was "I dunno, make it bullshit challenging?" and I dont know what they thought 11 was going for except maybe "Now 8 doesnt have to be the only one to remind you why this franchise doesnt need voice acting - because we didn't learn that from X4 already"

Any of y'all have a Quaxly in SV laying around that I can have for dex completion? I've been catching everything + surprise trading non stop as much as possible, but surprise trade just keeps giving Sprigatito and Fuecoco whenever people are trading SV starters.

So I finally got around to playing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night after it's been out for years, and I gotta say as a long time Castlevania fan, this is pretty much everything I loved from Igarashi's previous works shoved into one beautiful game. It definitely brings me back to playing Symphony of the Night and Aria of Sorrow.

Finished BG:EE, got a bit bored of The Black Pits (will finish eventually) and started BG2:EE. I'm ever so closer to finally getting into BG3, though I am quite enjoying the journey of the first two games!

Also finally playing the first Resident Evil game. I've only played RE 5 and 6, seen some of the other games. It is straight up just early 2000s exploratory puzzle horror game, with lots of backtracking across the mansion for this item or this switch, etc. The limited save system is nice, and extends the game a bunch because I have a habit of dying several times before getting back to the save spot. Plus, with my squirrel brain, I forget where enemies, puzzle hints, and items I can't pick up at the time are, so it's a lot more wandering and referring to the map every few seconds. Also, who the hell designed this place?? I know it's basically a cover for a virus lab but still, did each researcher and security person have to go through this crap when they worked there? And how does anyone even try to live here? It's a maze, and makes no sense as an actual house to me.

On the other hand, I am quite enjoying Evil Within 2. The open world surprised me, but it definitely fits. The "vault" system like Dying Light and Dead Space 3 is also pretty cool, little optional areas to get a bunch of gear and upgraded weapons, though I am curious how they're going to link the Big Bad from game 1 to game 2, cuz I haven't seen them yet, or at least not in a manner that I recognize.

And then there's Starship Troopers: Extraction. It's hilarious, just like the movie, and tons of whiny players that my team gets to troll. It's great! A little repetitive with the missions, but the maps are pretty rotated and keep it fresh. It's a game that actually encourages teamwork and synergy in a PvE environment.

In other SciFi news, Empyrion Galactic Survival has announced they have a DLC coming out! Which I am extremely out of touch of the story with the base game, so I thought it wasn't a great idea since last I knew the story mode wasn't even finished, but that was... what, a few years ago since I played the actual story? Like maybe 4 or 5 years? Dang. But the teaser trailer looks cool!

Do you still need one? I started with that and think I have a few left from breeding, or can just breed another one.

Digimon Survive's dialogue (or at least its English translation) is a little clunky. To put it mildly. But Labramon's a cinnamon roll and I will protect her.

One day, the always online and perpetually aggrieved will realize (much like obviously envious devs) that endlessly making unproven allegations toward a game or other developers, only increases a game's sales and emboldens its fans. But that day is still not today.

Unless I happen to get one from a surprise trade sometime in the future, I'll still need one if you're offering.

I love Digimon. But Digimon Survive was cripplingly slow and a complete fucking mess. I do not understand the point of making characters so stupid and unlikable, if you want me to care about them being in trouble and dying.

Cavern Of Dreams has a couple bright spots in its puzzles and its overall look. But it feels like a game that's half finished. (The bugged achievements don't help that feeling.) Plus the camera and controls made the final areas suck and made me repeat things a dozen times, that I should've completed the first time. (A Hat In Time was better.)

The next two games on my playlist is Cocoon and Steelrising. And Cocoon better be more entertaining than f**king Limbo was.

Edit: Steelrising was the first Spiders game that I finished, and it was a decent time. Not worth $50 though. It had some good ideas that made it play uniquely from other souls-likes. (It's rapid-cooling stamina and movement abilities specifically.) But most of the bosses sucked and the game was way too easy overall. (Also, the compass/optional objective marker is a crutch for its piss poor level design.)

Helldivers 2 (despite not being a full product) is pretty entertaining thus far, and reminds me of the non-stop chaos of EDF.

I've put in dozens of hours in Battlebit recently, it's real fun. Personally I don't use the VOIP feature but some of the shit people say is hilarious.

Cocoon is better than Limbo.

It still f**king sucks. Game plays by itself for most of its puzzles. The art design feels bland and uninteresting. And the boss battles will make you repeat their multiple slow sections and watch their cutscenes again, because your character does not move precisely where you wanted them to go. I stopped when it got to a sluggish timed shooting target section that is only difficult because you can't aim for shit. And fuck wasting even another second of my time trying to get past it.

Edit: "Birth" was a short and sweet point-n-click puzzle game. A little easy. But I enjoyed it's slightly gross art style.

Now playing "Lone Fungus" and it's been fairly solid so far. But the boss fights haven't been particularly enjoyable.

I’m starting to understand how critical it was for Hollow Knight to have *A FUCKING REASON* for endlessly respawning enemies. Because like Hak, the Lone Fungus' enemies are an absolute chore to deal with, and every room is chock-full of them. But then you get *fuck all* for killing any of them. (Also like Hak, the final boss is an obnoxious multi-phase boss fight that I just didn't feel like dealing with. Because I stopped enjoying myself many hours ago.)

The movement is not precise enough for being so punishing, and the challenges are less 'platforming' than finicky timed button presses. Ones which restrict all the upgrades that you’ve been earning, and make you feel like you’re constantly going nowhere fast. With a map that’s way too big and tedious to go through, when the dev included so few fast-travel points. (To the point that I was returning to the menu every time I completed a room. Because restarting at the last checkpoint was a more convenient way to travel.)

I *want* to give credit where credit it’s due. It *does* have some enemy variety. It *does* have many (very worthless) spells and charms to use. And it has five more levels than I really wanted to get through. (And then it had another one for good measure.) But it felt like a lot of it was quantity over quality. The shit awful bosses being a good example of that. So I’ll be nice and say Lone Fungus was aggressively mediocre and leave it at that.

The only thing I didn't try is using Mouse + Keyboard for certain sections. And lowering the difficulty, which the game does allow you to do mid-game. But I don't think that would've changed my opinion much.

Tales Of Arise tries its hardest to start its story in an interesting in-media-res. But it was so boring that I didn't want to continue. (Where it supposedly "falls off in its later half".)

Dinoblits is very cute. But it feels like I bought a phone game by mistake, and I have fuck-all idea what I'm supposed to do.

So maybe I'll get around to Blasphemous 2 at some point.

Helldivers 2 (a game everyone bought, everyone likes, and no one fucking plays for some reason.)

The new end screen being faster is appreciated. Crashing almost every mid-game and taking twice as long to load into a mission is not as great. The patch also apparently nerfed the railgun into oblivion on the very next day from when I purchased it. ;-;

I'm playing the Dead Space remake at the moment. It's good, it's fine, but I still don't know what it does that couldn't have been achieved with a remaster.

If you like Dead Space, I dare say you won't be disappointed. So far it's not super different, but I will say it looks beautiful. Dead Space has always had a wonderful art style, so seeing it rendered in such crisp detail is nice. I've experienced some stuttering issues, but I understand that's a problem for the vast majority of players whether they're on console or PC.

Yeah, I've always enjoyed the Dead Space franchise, so I'm surprised I completely blanked the remake from memory. I'll probably wait for it to go on sale, though. Having trouble justifying slinging down $60 even though I can afford it lol
