I am not huge into the idea of killing children so if there was a route we could go now that could maybe save the kid I would take that preferably.

Kids are easily manipulated so it makes them prime targets to be evilized but it should also make them at least not impossible to turn back to good, so to speak.

Idk if that's just how I feel in terms of when I run games but there is almost always a non-violent option in my eyes. Or at least a non-killing option when it comes to other sentient humanoids.

I think my sentiment has been stated above. I hope that does not ruin your plans

Ok. By unanimous vote encounters against evil children are no longer on the docket. I offer you all my deepest gratitude for your input, as well as my sincerest apologies for any discomfort I may have caused. I shall try my best to avoid doing this in the future.

It is with this goal in mind that I ask my next question.

I'm sure by now that some of you have guessed that this campaign will feature a coven of hags. Without spoiling too much, one of the coven's members is an annis hag. A variant of hag whose preferred targets are children.

Should I swap the annis out with a different hag?

I've run an annis hag in a different game and I have a similar villain in Wild Beyond the Witchlight (without giving spoilers).

Fighting an Annis Hag, or any hag, is not the issue, as they are depicted to be irredeemable monsters.

The main issue with this encounter is fighting the child without the possibility of helping the child.

Hammerhand wasn't gonna kill the kid in the first place, I tried my best to intimidate him.

I will agree with what Haruki has stated. The fact the Annis hag targets children is what makes them irredeemable to me anyway.

An easy fix is to save actual children this hag controls for more mundane evils. Things they might get away with instead of an adult like theivery. You could also just have adults who were corrupted as children long ago.

I think this is the way I would have put it too. I have also fought one of these hags in previous games but we managed to help the children before anything bad could happen to them.

Alrighty then. What I'm getting from this consensus is that the use of an annis hag is fine, provided that her child minions are non-combatants that can be rescued from her clutches and led back onto the straight and narrow.

If I've got that right, allow me to pose my final question.

Would you all just like to skip this encounter?

Since the whole fighting a kid thing is killing the vibe, I could just hit fast forward, resolve the rest of this situation ASAP, and get us on to the next thing if that's what you'd like me to do.

I think we should fast forward if everyone else is okay with it. ^^"

I'm also going to retract my previous IC post.

I don't mind playing things out, I am a rogue so being an edge lord is in my blood. Consider me neutral on that

I don't mind fast forwarding things personally. Either way works for me but the easiest option might just be to hit the skip button.

I mean we could have just had Max run away after what Cascade did. He's like "Ah shit maybe I am out of my depth" and then he goes away and rethinks his actions idk, like realise maybe picking a fight with a scary orc warrior, four genasi and a swashbuckling lady isn't the way to go

Listen he would have beat the crap out if the kid if he actually had hit him, but Hammerhand was trying to prove to Max that he wasn't a true warrior. He needs to marshal himself. Other than that, I dunno about you guys but killing Gorgash sounds like a great idea after all it seems like him and Max are working together

Flicker isn't quite at the 'Let's kill Gorgash' stage... but they do want to beat the crap out of him. They didn't like him that much when they first met him, and now they really don't like him.

Aura was more, "okay you don't deserve to sit at my table anymore after insulting my friends and being a general annoyance".

But I am more than willing to skip over, or have the DM come up with some other reason why the kid ran off if we wanna continue the beat down on Gorgash XD.

Ok then. Skipping the encounter it is.

Once more, I'm sorry about the whole fighting a kid thing. Rest assured that will not happen again.
