@Master Bruce Understandable. Would it be OK to do a smaller Transformers story? I had an idea of a small team of Autobots arriving on Earth alongside a small team of Decepticons. Really take advantage of the "Robots In Disguise" part where the Transformers are trying to keep quiet due to their lack of numbers. Less Michael Bay "Leveling an entire major city with every encounter" and more a Hulk style of "Clashes tend to ruin a building or maybe a street before all sides slink back into the shadows."

Not to step on MB's toes here but I think the issue if just that Transformers feel really distinct from the rise of metahumans as a phenomenon. Even if in practice the setting is actually a kitchen sink, Superman is a space alien, Captain America is a soldier from out of time, Wonder Woman is from an ancient warrior culture, the X-Men are genetic freaks, etc. etc., its still fairly easy for the average person in the setting to look at all of those and pin them all as the same kind of thing, even if they want to quibble about who is a mutant and who is a superhuman or whatever. Whereas with the Transformers, its tough to mistake them for anything but a giant alien robot.

The other thing I think is that I know MB and Sep want to prioritize interaction between characters and that might be hard to achieve when the scale between them is so different. Like, for instance, my story is going to be all about martial arts, and I thought it would be cute to try and teach most every character they interact with a move or two if the story allows, but they're kind of prohibited from doing that with the Transformers at like a basic bodily mechanics level.

@DocTachyon I mean, obviously if MB says no, that's the end of it. But I disagree with your analysis. The entire point of Transformers is their interactions with Humans. I mean, it was either Bob Budianski or Simon Firman (Can never remember which) always said "The Transformers came to Earth and took the disguise of our vehicles. What's the point of setting it on Earth if not to interact with humans." Plus, in recent media, a considerable chunk of Transformers Stories has been "How do they interact with Humanity?" IDWs comics were all about that, Rise of the Beasts and Bumblebee movies, as is the current Earthspark cartoon. Hell, the first season of Transformers Animated was about the Autobots fighting Human supervillains.

As for scale, I tend to think of characters much in the D&D RP scale. Standard characters tend to be Common sized, which takes up a 5ftx5ftx5ft cube of space. Hulk would definitely be a large creature 10ftx10ftx10ft cube and honestly, thats where i was planning on outting most of my Transformers, like how they are in Transformers Animated. But then there are plenty of Marvel/DC Characters that are Huge sized that take up that 15ftx15ftx15ft cube of space, which is where i would put most of the bigger Transformers. I mean, Giganta is even bigger than that. Antman can become bigger than that. Atomsmasher, Sentinels/Master-Mold, Kluh, I think there is plenty of space for that.

@Simple Unicycle Again, I am asking less "Hey, can I smash this square peg into this round hole?" More a "Hey, can I put this rectangular piece that is designed to go in this rectangular hole into this square hole that it actually has been shown to fit into."

Or this

The main punchline of that linked short being that the girl is in obvious distress at the repeated misuse of shaped holes relative to the intended destination of the pieces being inserted is clearly lost on you.

The problem is the one you've outlined within your own explanation, though. It's about Transformers interacting with humans. This is a world where the main crux is going to be superheroes and their clashes/saves interacting with humans aswell. And once you get into that, you get into all the sub-sections of character types associated with that archetype. Humanoid aliens, mutants, Atlanteans, cyborgs. It's just one step too far out of the zone of what the focus is, and having them in here would convolute things. I'm gonna go ahead and say no to the Transformers formally and encourage applying for something closer to home. There are plenty of Transformers-like stories to tell with the available character types.

Does anyone else have characters they'd like to state interest in? I see @Hillan and @Roman are interested but haven't given any hints yet. Plus @Half Pint told me they have some other ideas but didn't name names. Wanna share with the class?

No, I wanna see what everyone else wants to play, and then decide if any overlapping sheets offend me enough to contest.

"What if Charlies Angels were all male and worked for Bruce Wayne?"
Batman.

But it's gonna be weird and require a lot of commitment.
I might go for something smaller scale. Might fuck around and piss Sep off on one of his intended characters.

@Mao Mao Transformers at least had the caveat that it USED to be part of Earth 616 continuity, even if it isn't anymore. TMNT has never been, to my knowledge, part of Marvel or DC official continuity.
