I know what 1x1 gaming means, and I'm not really into that. However, recently I'm more and more interested in games with only a single player and the GM. It puts the focus on the character(s) of one player, a lot of balancing issues are rendered irrelevant, and the personal story of the one player can be fully explored, without taking the spotlight from others.

My first question is, is Tabletop Interest Checks the proper place for this? I don't like freeform gaming, I want the resolution system and probably specialized rules for reinforcing the genre.

The second question is, is there any interest in this on this site? I would really love to play as well, but I know it's a much harder sell than GMing, so I'm up for both.

I was a part of a long-lasting "single-player" tabletop campaign (albeit with me as the player), so I know what you're talking about. What you're asking is essentially a 1x1 tabletop campaign, which is... well, 1x1. You might have better luck posting this check there since the 1x1 section is definitely more popular than the tabletop section, but either would work, honestly.

As for interest, who knows. I haven't seen much people asking or playing this kind of campaign on here.

Well, I thought 1x1 means two players and no GMs, both players with their own PC, mainly interacting with each other.

I mean, yes. That is a type of 1x1 RP. But that isn't the only version of it. 1x1 is more or less just two people.

D&D is the one I have the most experience with on that list. I also have a passing familiarity with Fate, Ironsworn, and any game hooked up to the Apocalypse Engine. If you'd rather play one of the other titles on that list, I certainly don't mind giving it a shot. Just be ready to play with a total beginner if you decide to go down that road though.

I have to ask The Question:
Are you willing to GM for me, too?

As a GM, I'd prefer Fate, Ironsworn, or PbtA to anything else. And the last two of these three are Apocalypse World Engine derivatives. The Legend in the Mist Demo has the most simple, most elegant and most creative chargen, basically you make a list of short, descriptive phrases, and that's your character, mechanically. I'd love to try that.

I'd be willing to GM so long as it's a game I'm familiar enough with to GM confidently.

Those game would be D&D, Urban Shadows, anything made by Grant Howitt, Epyllion, or Roll For Shoes.

As a player, I'd like to use the RP6 rules.

How about you as player? Are there any from my list that especially intrigue you?

I could certainly GM a game of RP6.

As for games from your list that especially intrigue me as a player, Dark Heresy, Dishonored, and Legend in the Mist would be the ones to have that distinction.

Dark Heresy 2e and Dishonored are viable only if you have the core book at least. The Legend in the Mist Demo is a free download.

And, thinking this through, I have zero experience with Dishonored, either with the video game or the RPG. So, let's shear it down to...
¤ Legend in the Mist, or
¤ Dark Heresy 2e

Do you have any preference between the two?

Between the two, my preference would be for Legend.

For LitM, what genre / mood would you like? The game itself is presented as rustic fantasy, but, in fact, the system is completely generic, so it works with everything.

Rustic fantasy sounds good to me.
