The world is changing. During WW2, scientists had managed to create a super-soldier formula, which they used to create Captain America. After the war, Captain America got frozen, and the super-serum was forgotten as the world began to focus on WW2's other super-weapon: The Atomic Bomb.
But now a new arms race has begun, and new chaos has emerged. Super-powered extra terrestrials like SuperMan and Thor have been discovered, and Captain America has been found and thawed. Many organizations, both good and bad, are working to recreate the super-serum, with varying results.
And so it is that the world enters a new age: The Age of Heroes.

This RP revolves around characters from the Marvel and DC universe, and other characters will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
We'll only allow cannons at this point in time, simply because there's so many of them and not enough time. Players will also be encouraged to take two characters (one hero and one villain) but it's not required. Also, keep in mind that our characters are just starting their careers. So, Batman might not necessarily have a batmobile, batsub, batwing, robin, nightwing, batgirl, batspace ship.

My Character:

-Name: Agent Phillip Coulson
-Quote: "You're gonna lose. It's in your nature."
-Age: 48
-Appearance:
-Abilities: A master of SCARS hand-to-hand combat, and a highly-trained marksman.
-Weapons: The ICER gun, a non-lethal pistol is his primary weapon. During higher-stake ops he can request bigger guns. His most powerful weapon is the Destroyer Cannon, a large BFG which fires bolts of plasma. However, that's only for emergencies.
-Equipment: Lola, a hover car convertible. He's rather protective of it.
-Regular Teammates: SHIELD in general. He's friends with Fury, Black Widow, and Hawkeye.
-Personality: He likes history, antiques, and Captain America. In fact, he owns a set of vintage Captain America trading cards. He has a cool-tempered, but likes to remain friendly. He is generally a cheerful person, and tries to keep a smile on his face. To some he seems like an annoying bureaucrat, which he sometimes likes use to his advantage. And besides, just because you're an alien from krypton, you still have to sign form section 3-Q.
-Bio: After leaving the military, he was contacted by SHIELD and offered a job. He gladly accepted. After a few years of training and doing odd jobs here and there, he rose up through the ranks and became a level 7 operative. Some people in SHIELD are considering giving him his own team sometime, but it's still in the air. He's recently been tasked with investigating odd occurrences in Gotham and New York.

-Name: Oroku Saki
-Codename: The Shredder
-Quote: "You are here because the outside world rejects you. THIS is your family. *I* am your father. I want you all to become full members of the Foot."
-Age: 40
-Appearance:
-Abilities/Skills: He's one of the world's greatest martial artists, if not the greatest. He has more black belts than George Lucas has had re-releases. He's fast, agile, stealthy, and lethal.
-Equipment: His RAH armor, an armor made partially of a cheaper, synthetic form of adamantium. It isn't nearly as strong as real adamantium, but it is bullet-proof enough to resist small-arms fire. Armor piercing rounds might be able to penetrate it. He also has access to a powerful mutagen, simply referred to as 'O.O.Z.", or just ooze, which can be used to create mutant super-soldiers. Finally, he has a grappling hook which allows him to cling on to things.
-Regular Allies: The Foot Clan, a clandestine terror cell. It's still growing in numbers, and is mostly recruiting from common street thugs, so their effectiveness in America...eh, varies. The Foot Clan is a registered branch of HYDRA, so they do have allies in that group.
-Weapons: Kunai knives, and two katars on his hands. Said katars are made out of the same metal as his armor, making them able cut through steel as if it were plastic.
-Personality: Certifiably sociopathic. Despite technically being a ninja, he acts more like a samurai. A very sadistic samurai with a perverse sense of 'honor'. The kind of 'honor' that might encourage people to strap bombs onto themselves or crash airplanes into things. He's capable of acting gentlemanly around others, though it generally comes across as Faux Affably Evil. He also isn't particularly fond of guns, so he tries too limit the Foot Clan's dependence on them, but like all things, he's willing to abandon him at a moment's notice.
-Bio: Because HYDRA is a continuation of Nazi Germany, they decided that, like Nazi Germany, they would be much better off with Japanese allies. There was a small society of pacifist monks called the Foot Clan, who had all the right skills, but were much to kind to be of any use. So, they hired someone in the group, Oroku Saki, to take it over and make some 'reformations'. A few assassinations later, he took charge of the clan and converted into an ally of HYDRA.

'With great powers...comes great responsibilities.'

Name: Peter 'Petey' Parker

Codename: Spider-Man

Age: Fifteen. (15)

Abilities/Skills: For the most part, Spider-Man is superhuman in every attribute. His speed is faster than your average car, but it is unknown how far he can really push himself currently. With his new strength, he can bench press 10 tons, while his density, durability, stamina, agility, and general core has been enhanced far past basic human functionality. For better info, go here: http://marvel.wikia.com/Spider-Man_(Peter_Parker)

Equipment/Vehicles: Web-Shooters - Parker's brilliance at physical science allowed him to create web-shooters for use when he became Spider-Man. The twin devices worn on his wrists are able to shoot thin strands of a special "web fluid" at high pressure.

Utility Belt - Spider-Man keeps a utility belt holding web cartridges, spider-tracers, and his signature Spider-Signal.

Personality: Peter was originally shy and subtle in school, but his transformation changed that. Now, he's a wisecracking superhero who loves to taunt and take on challenges and enemies. However, immediately following his Uncle Ben's death, Peter became more mature. He still jokes around a lot, but it's more...cold and calculative, though he can be warm with innocent civilians and others.

Bio: http://marvel.wikia.com/Spider-Man_(Peter_Parker)

"While attending a public exhibition demonstrating the safe handling of nuclear laboratory waste materials, sponsored by the General Techtronics Corporation, then-15-year-old Peter Parker was bitten by a spider that had been irradiated by a particle accelerator used in the demonstration. Making his way home afterwards, Peter discovered he had somehow gained incredible strength, agility, and the ability to cling to walls; spider-like traits that he immediately associated with the spider bite.

Encountering an ad offering a cash prize for staying in the ring for three minutes with a professional wrestler, Peter decided this would be a good way to test his powers. Wearing a mask to avoid potential embarrassment, Peter easily defeated his opponent. A TV producer observed his performance and convinced him to go on television with his 'act.' Designing a costume and some wrist-mounted web-spinners, Peter called himself Spider-Man, becoming an immediate sensation.

Following his first TV appearance, Peter failed to act to stop an escaping thief, claiming that it was not his responsibility to do so. Peter forgot the incident as his fame rose, but one night he returned home to find his Uncle Ben had been murdered. Learning the police had the burglar responsible holed up in a warehouse, Peter easily captured him only to discover it was the same thief he had allowed to escape earlier. Filled with remorse, he realized that when someone has power, he has an obligation to use it responsibly, so he decided to become a superhero."

Are you stating that characters like Nightwing, Batgirl, and others who were inspired/trained by older characters are off limits as PCs? Or are we allowed to change the histories of such characters?

So I'm hoping this is okay. I brought it up in the interest check and you seemed fine with it, but... We'll see how it turns out. If it doesn't work I'll replace him with someone from Marvel or DC, but for now... Also, I made a few little adjustments to make him fit in better, most notably replacing Shocker with HYDRA and making their cyborg soldiers be an attempt to recreate the supersoldier program that died when Cap was frozen. Again, hope it's okay. ^^;

• Name: Takeshi Hongo
• Codename: Kamen Rider (AKA Kamen Rider #1)
• Quote: "As long as evil still exists in this world, I will fight!"
• Age: 25
• Appearance: As Kamen Rider. Without the helmet (I'm using the 00's reboot movie actor for this, since as awesome as his original actor was he looks a little too 70's to fit in.)

• Abilities/Skills: Takeshi Hongo is a cyborg, converted against his will by the evil organization HYDRA as part of their plans for world domination. Even out of costume, he is stronger than most men (although still only at the outermost limits of human ability), and is a very capable unarmed fighter. However, this is not the true extent of his power. Attached to his waist is a belt-like turbine device, codenamed "Typhoon", which utilises the power of the wind to fully awaken his cybernetic implants. By either performing a series of synchronized arm movements or by simply receiving a significantly powerful enough blast of air to his front, followed by shouting "Transform!", Hongo's body metamorphosizes into the champion of justice, Kamen Rider! In this form, his strength increases to superhuman levels, his arm strength being roughly comparable to Spider-Man's. However, as he is grasshopper themed it should come as no surprise that his leg strength is even greater, allowing him to leap several meters into the air even from a standing position, and giving him his signature move: the Rider Kick, a flying kick strong enough to take out just about any villain he comes across who isn't superhumanly resilient, and even then it's still going to hurt quite a bit. His own resilience as Kamen Rider is rather notable too, as he is practically immune to small arms fire, and tough enough to take blows from other superstrong opponents without having to worry too much. In addition, his armoured form included several other implants and built-in gadgets. The eyepieces grant him infrared vision which allows him to see in lowlight conditions, and his artificial lungs allow him to recycle oxygen for up to two hours, allowing him to survive incredibly hostile conditions.

• Equipment/Vehicles: As his name suggests, Kamen Rider uses a motorcycle to travel, a special custom model known as the Cyclone. It has a maximum speed of 400km/h (apparently), and is resilient enough to be used as a battering ram without suffering any noticable damage.

• Weapons: N/A. Kamen Rider will occasionally use the weapons of his enemies if he gets his hands on them, but he mostly relies on his bare fists and, of course, his feet.

• Sidekicks/Regular Teammates: Hayato Ichimonji/Kamen Rider #2... Who will probably not show up much, if at all, since he's busy fighting HYDRA in Japan.

• Personality: Despite being transformed against his will, it seems like Takeshi Hongo was born to be a hero. He has a strong sense of justice and will not tolerate evildoers, and this coupled with his hotblooded nature and his overdramatic stylings (he insistently refers to HYDRA as "The Army of Hell") whilst operating as Kamen Rider make him seem like a true comic book hero. Despite his boisterous nature, Hongo is actually rather intelligent; before his conversion he was at university studying advanced biochemistry, and he has a flair for mechanics too. Aside from justice, his number one love in life is motorcycles, and if he's not out fighting evil he is most likely fixing up his bike.

• Bio: Not too long ago, Takeshi Hongo was simply a rather gifted biochemistry student with a passion for motorcycles. It was during an "accident" whilst riding his bike one day that his life changed forever, for he had been scouted by the Japanese branch of HYDRA as a candidate for their new supersoldier program. Lacking the serum used to create Captain America, they instead performed surgery to transform Hongo into superpowered cyborg, but before they could perform the brainwashing procedure that would ensure his absolute loyalty to HYDRA one of the scientists responsible for the operations... Maybe he'd had a change of heart, or maybe he'd been forced against his will to perform it. No matter what the reason was, he gave his life to ensure that the newly created cyborg could escape and be free of HYDRA's control. Rechristening himself as the masked champion of justice, Kamen Rider, Hongo began a one-man crusade against HYDRA, something helped by the fact they they kept sending assassins and other products of their supersoldier program to bring him back, dead or alive.

Eventually, after getting frustrated at the fact that everything they threw at him seemed to meet the same fate (being jumpkicked so hard they exploded), the Japanese branch of HYDRA decided that if this "Kamen Rider" they created was too strong for any of their supersoldiers prototypes to take down then they'd just make another one. And so Hayato Ichimonji, a freelance photographer, was captured and converted just like Hongo before him. Unfortunately for them... Hongo happened to break into the lab where the conversion was taking place, and once again one of HYDRA's cyborg supersoldiers escaped before they could perform the brainwashing treatment. Now that there were two Kamen Riders, Hongo decided that he could trust Hayato to take care of HYDRA's Japanese branch, and decided to head off across the world to take the fight to them on a global scale. Soon enough, Takeshi Hongo, the Kamen Rider, ended up in America, which is where our story picks up...

Would playing either Iron Fist or Cap himself be acceptable? I'm okay with not playing Cap but I REALLY like Iron Fist.

I think i'd like to take the reigns of Victor Von Doom. i was thinking iron man as well, at first, but on second consideration, if i did that, i'd really kinda just be playing the same character from either morality. they're both armored, energy-projecting egotistical businessmen. it's just one's an accomplished gypsy-magus hell-bent on vengeance on a world he views as cruel and cold, and the other is a billionaire-playboy hell-bent on saving a world gone mad and populated with crazies who are clever enough to use nuclear reactors as playthings. so if i'm gonna take up a vain, narcissistic type, let him be a bad-guy. *slow, wicked grin*

As far as good guys go, i wasn't sure who to play after setting tony aside. maybe i'll take on Venom as an anti-hero. always liked symbiotes. maybe i can do brock more justice than topher grace did. >_>

Spider man is approved. I'm still getting to Kamen.

To answer DD's question, Im going to say that you should probably wait for Batman to be applied for before you sign on as batwoman or Robin.

As for Azariel you're certainly free to be both if you like. Venom can be played as an anti-hero or villain as you desire. Part of me wants to go do the black spidey suit story to lead up to venom, but I'll be flexible if you really want to be Venom.

it is kinda instrumental to the entire venom storyline that the black-suit spidey arc be at least casually glossed over before venom makes an appearance. but i still get to do the pre-goo brock during said arc, nothing against that. and it gives me a break from bearing the weight of the massive ego of doom.

Name: Hakumen
Codename: The White Void.
Quote: "I am the cold steel. I am the Just Sword. With blade in hand shall I reap the sins of this world, and cleanse it in the fires of destruction. I am Hakumen, the end has come!"
Age: Unknown.
Appearance:
Abilities/Skills:
His strength speed and endurance are well out of any normal humans threshold.
His true strength lies in his ties to the worlds order. If an something would stand in his way, so long as it threatens the world his own already heightened abilities increase. (This also acts as a hindrance, as Hakumen may not use the power of order for personal reasons.)
Equipment: None.
Weapons: Nox Nyctores, Ookami. A blade with magical properties. Aside from being unbreakable, it has the ability to cut through almost any form of energy. Be it magic or science in nature. That said, it is still a blade, its cutting potential is tied to the strength of the wielder....
Sidekicks/Regular Teammates: None
Personality: Hakumen is not one many would view as a hero. He is cold, if not robotic. He sees the world in black and white, he knows no mercy. He seldom expresses his actual opinion, hell your lucky to get him to insult you let alone compliment you. That said he can definitely hate, and even be bias. Chaos in any form brings about ill will from the normally statuesque swordsman, but no matter how mad the swordsman gets, how much his blood my boil, he is bound by honor and will never due something as cowardly as sneak attacks or striking a unarmed opponent. (This does not apply to beast or monsters)
Bio: Hakumen is lost in time. Trapped in shattered "boundary" he is forced to live out entire lifetimes over and over till the optimal objective of his reality is met. Yet again he is crashed into a time that seems to be a extreme outlier, a situation that he is honestly unprepared for. The resources of this timeline confound him, people are much more laid back than he is used to. He tries to attract as little attention as a 8 foot tall armored samurai knight thing in New York can..

(For consideration.)

Well, Spider-Man is just starting his career, so that may take a while. It also might not go on the canon route, since this RP is filled with other heroes, and other things may op up that didn't happen in canon.

Name: Steven Rogers

Codename: Captain America

Quote:"I'm not really loyal to anything...except the american dream."

Age: Technically around 95, but biologically in his prime.

Appearance: like this, usually

Abilities/Skills:

Rogers has been exposed to Dr. Erskine's Super-Soldier Serum at the same time as his body was bathed in Vita-rays. This had the effect of permanently augmenting his body to the very peak of human potential. Thus Roger's strength, speed, agility, reflexes, durability, healing ability, senses and even mental capacities are at the very limits of what a human is capable of without necessarily being super-human. He is also an extremely skilled martial artist, acrobat, soldier and general military operator in both conventional and unconventional operations, having gained extensive military training and experience during World War II and further training from SHIELD upon his re-awakening in the present. His training and experience combined with his peak-human physiology make him more than capable of standing with and against super-humans. He is also a fairly talented artist.

Equipment/Vehicles: Steve Rogers is trained to pilot and drive many different kinds of vehicles but prefers motorcycles

Weapons: While he's been trained in the use of multiple weapons, Captain America's most notable and often only weapon is his mighty shield. Forged of an alloy of Vibranium, iron and an unknown compound, it is borderline indestructible and incredibly light. Rogers uses it to block projectiles and attacks at close range, but also as a weapon, both in melee combat and by throwing it, utilizing its' light weight and incredibly properties to achieve complex ricochet effects and accurate throws. Rogers' skills with the shield and its' incredible durability make it a very versatile and useful weapon.

Rogers also often rides a SHIELD-modified Harley Davidson 750 equipped with hidden guns, missiles, and a rocket booster for limited boosts in speed.

Sidekicks/Regular Teammates: Currently None, although he often works with and for S.H.I.E.L.D. and its' associated cast.

Personality: In a sense Steve Rogers greatest power lies in his personality. He tries his best to embody the ideals he believes his country should stand for and fights to bring out the best in others and to try and make the world a better place. His heroic will is truly superhuman and his commitment to truth and justice is completely unwavering as is his desire to help other people. Besides those sort of core personality traits, Steve loves apple pie and catching up on all of the things he's missed out on since becoming a human Popsicle, although he sometimes feels lost and out of place in the modern world.

Bio: Steve Rogers was a man who loved his country and doing the right thing about as much as he disliked bullies. So when America entered World War II, the incredibly physically frail Rogers kept trying to enlist, no matter how many times the military denied him because of his poor health. Desperate to help the soldiers fighting against fascism overseas, Steve joined an experimental program with creating super soldiers as its' ultimate goal. The weak and pathetic Steve Rogers was picked as the first test subject to best demonstrate the Super Soldier project's capabilities, and the combination of Dr.Erskine's Super Soldier Serum and Vita-Rays was a massive success, transforming Rogers from a physically weak kid from Brooklyn to a paragon of human fitness and ability. Unfortunately an Axis spy assassinated Dr. Erskine almost immediately afterward, before he could pass on the formula, so the secret to creating future Super Soldiers died with him.

Now America's only available Super Soldier, Steve was given the best training the Allies could provide and deployed in the war as Captain America! He brought the fight to the Axis powers, especially the dangerous Nazi advanced sciences division known as Hydra. Captain America played a huge role in turning the tide of the war for the Allies while stopping numerous villainous schemes by the Axis powers, often with the help of his sidekick Bucky Barnes, and the rag-tag group of soldiers known as the Howlin' Commandos.

Captain America battled Hydra and the rest of the Axis relentlessly regardless of the massive armies, bizarre occult powers or twisted miracles of super science they threw at him. but during his final battle with the field leader of Hydra's science division known as the Red Skull, Rogers fell into the sea while destroying a hi-tech long range stealth bomber headed for America, knocked unconscious by the resulting explosion as he sank into the depths of the arctic. He remained frozen there for decades until a SHIELD survey team found him and dug him out of the ice to defrost. Now he's returned to the world once again to fight for his ideals.
