Couple things with that last post, Volt. The first is the shield, I am not a fan of people adding things to their inventory without GM say so. I'd prefer that you waited until Soul or I describe loot and inventory in an area before making changes to your equipment. The reason being is simple, it's a slippery slope where it sets a precedent where people start feeling that they can do the same. We were already linent with the swords in Chorrol, and we established thay dwemer stuff is high-tier equipment, so randomly deciding you want new stuff, especially of that caliber and just justifying it in a time skip isn't cool. I don't want this to turn into 'And Blade killed a guy in power armour and took it for himself' or whatever.

Gotcha. I didn't think you would mind the shield since, outside of being a targe, it has no special properties. It's just a shield with spikes on it. Ill redact that if you like though.

Your character is already strong, which brings me to point two.We get that Blade is tough, but in just about every encounter he's basically unstoppable, takes no injuries, and makes everyone he fights look like a bunch of weak, half-wit Redshirts.

I think that's a little unfair, well, the no injuries part anyway. Yeah I do have him go on sprees but I try to balance it out with injuries.
He got busted up by those trolls when I first started. He was near death after Chorral. He got cut up during the boarding of the Dominion ship (admittedly less so that time.) And I was gonna have him get carved up in the fight with Krieger's minions too but then the site blew up and I have no context as to what they were actually capable of, and NoSoul's characters seemed healthy enough so I went along with that.

Maybe I don't explain it well while I'm writing, but due to the chaotic nature of a pitched battle, not all of the people he kills are necessarily killed 'fairly' per se. Many of them just get blindsided and it's over, so I don't go into detail about exactly what happened to them. But when it's a fair, face to face fight, I write it as more of a duel, like the time he faced off against the dwemer he took the greatsword from for example.

But I get your point and will try to balance it more.

He's not going to step into a tournament with a bunch of Alik'r warriors and other veteran fighters who have fought the dwemer more than he has and come out on top and have them just get walked all over.

I realize I didn't go into much detail with the fights (I was too tired at the time) but I did mention that he was having a hard time with the more skilled warriors, and I also assumed that there would be plenty of less skilled ones, which he could steam roll.

Remember in the OOC where I wrote that the goal was believable characters with lots of development and not unstoppable badasses? Blade hasn't changed, at all, since the game started and he can pretty much be defined by 'apathic badass who is unphased by everything who is emotionally static and is only driven by fighting. ' I get he's a gladiator and that's the only life he knows, but he's still a person.

I actually agree with you on that point, his development is going very slowly. But I do have something in mind. It actually started with your mention of how the people of Chorral looked to him as a hero after the battle and he started getting recognition for helping a cause instead of just fighting for himself. It's happening slowly, but it's happening.

Final point, the Hammerfell equipment is necessary for the Helgathe arc because it's the dwemer capital in the province and as such is the most secure. The guards aren't going to let strangely clothed, heavily armed and armoured people walk the streets unchallenged, especially since they know about the Heroes of Tamriel after Chorrol and there's uprisings in other cities. Even if that were socially acceptable, the dwemer are not going to see him with dwemer gear and think, 'he has good taste!' They're going to think, rightfully, he killed somebody for it.

Ah. I was not aware we were going on a stealth mission. Will fix.

I don't mean to come across as el big bad GM, just thought I'd square things away early so things go smooth! I appreciate you being reasonable about all that, I certainly enjoy having you around, thanks for being easy to work with!

As for it being a stealth mission, yes and no. It's kind of a pot luck of stiff with a few inspiration ques from Assassin's Creed, which will involve open combat from time to time. It's just a matter of getting from point A to B without causing an issue. it will also be a much more open, free form game from here on in where the players will largely be guiding their own fates. The game up until now has been very linear, so we thought we'd spice things up and set you guys loose on the equivalent of 1940s Paris. As a bit of warning, there is a chance of player death if you get your character into a particularly dangerous situation without a way out. I wouldn't worry too much, since Soul and I are fairly lineant and don't want to make things unfair/ you worried to do anything in fear of death. Just remember; the worse the odds, the more likely you risk capture or injury!

Also, I'll have a Nadeen briefing in a little while for the characters so they know what's up. She'll cover the bases.

That capture/injury/murder sounds interesting. It'd be way better to die because of an unlucky, inglorious failure in the RP resulting in meaningless death than planning some dramatic and meaningful loss of a comrade.

I'd say that I'd play a suicidal character just to get that, but that'd make me a soon-to-be booted pest. ;]

Before I do a posty post (which will be later tonight, since I'm social once a month), what ingredients, if any, could Elayna have procured from the Mausoleum/around the area? Any fungi or moss or whatevah? Or not much, since it had a bad case of the dead?

I was gonna have her forage after the death of Kreiger, since she'd be fresh out of stuff after the magicka poison.

Totally! Anything that typically grows underground or in arid climates could be expected. Fortunately, raising the dead tends not to murder the fauna. There's also nutrients from the coastal air, so while N'Gasta isn't exactly lush, it's not totally barren.

Oh, I was wondering, what kind of armor and weapon variations do the Redguard have? Anything that might be more suited to Blade's style than gangsta shirts and pants (cause they're baggy get it... I'll stop) or curved swords? Curved... swords.

Because those are the only Redguard items I've seen.

The Redguard culture is based loosely off of the Moorish culture, kind of like how the Nords are based loosely off of Vikings. A quick trip to google reveals,

"The average Moorish warrior was armed with leather armour, a scimitar, a shortsword or broadsword and possibly a javelin. Some of the more advanced elite men would have had crossbows."

"The infidel threw his shield in front of him, and laying his spear on his arm he ran swiftly at me, uttering a cry. I approached, having my spear at the thigh, but as I drew near I couched my spear and thrust at his shield, and although he struck at me with his spear in the flank and forearm, I was able to give him such mighty thrust that horse and man fell to the ground. But his spear hung in my armor and hindered me, and I had great difficulty in loosing it and alighting from my horse. By this time he also was dismounted. I had my sword in my hand; he likewise seized his sword, and we advanced and gave each other a mighty blow. The infidel had excellent armour, and though I struck him by the shield he received no injury. Nor did his blows injure me. We then gripped each other and wrestled so long that we fell to the ground side by side. But the infidel was a man of amazing strength. He tore himself from my grasp, and we both raised our bodies until we were kneeling side by side. I then thrust him from me with my left hand in order to be able to strike at him with my sword, and this I was able to do, for with the thrust his body was so far removed that I was able to cut at his face, and although the blow was not wholly successful, I wounded him so that he swayed and was half-blinded. I then struck him a direct blow in the face and hurled him to the ground, and falling upon him I thrust my sword through his throat, after which I rose to my feet, took his sword, and returned to my horse. The two beasts were standing side by side. They had been worked hard the whole day, and were quite quiet.

When the infidels saw I had conquered they drew off their forces. But the Portuguese and Christians approached and cut off the infidel's head, and took his spear, and placed the head upon it, and removed his armour. It was a costly suit, made in the heathen fashion, very strong and richly ornamented."

"Another possibility you might like to consider is the use of multiple coats of mail. The most familiar example for this is El Cid wearing three coats of mail, the last of which stopped a spear or javelin that pierced the first two; but this practice was not restricted to Christian warriors, and seems to have been something quite common in both Andalusia and North Africa. I'm not sure about whether the practice lasted into the 15th century, however."

http://books.google.ca/books?id=QmQFYZSMs-EC&pg=PA158&lpg=PA158&dq=Moorish+armour&source=bl&ots=ouo9SdlV0j&sig=3spxfLzW0Vz8yfwHzeHTpD0UeD8&hl=en&sa=X&ei=1gPjUpDCNcfcqQGup4GwDg&ved=0CGoQ6AEwCw#v=onepage&q=Moorish%20armour&f=false

Basically, a lot of chain mail, some plate armour, long but light fabric to cover from the sun, with weapons that place more of a premium on mobility and speed. Although, as mentioned, broadswords were around. In this particular instance, Blade would probably want something he could keep somewhat concealed, because a big honking sword would draw a lot of attention, although he could in theory do what Marassa does and just carry it under longer robes, although she kind of gets away with a lot more because she's a woman and there's more conservative options available for her.

So, for Reigenleif, would she get to keep her staff? I'm pretty sure she'll be leaving her Dwemer cloak behind, but her robes and jewelery contribute quite a lot to her magical longevity in battle. What will happen regarding those? Would the Redguard have any mage robes in their style? Her dagger is easily concealable, so I'm not worrying about that.

Staffs are a big more ambiguous because magic isn't huge in Hammerfell, and it's fairly easy to pass one off as a walking stick, which is fairly handy with arrogant ass dwemer who don't have time for magic in the face of superior technology. As long as she didn't really carry herself as a mage and maybe made some effort to disguise how the staff looked, it would be totally possible to get away with carrying it around.

But to answer your question, there aren't really a lot of mages in Hammerfell, so she'll have to enchant some jewelry and her given clothing to kind of perk stuff up. The camp will have enchanters, you just might have to pay them off.

Just to clarify, your equipment and stuff isn't gone forever, it's just like a longer version of that quest in the Thalmor embassy where you had to give it to Delphine to smuggle in for a while. I'm pretty flexible with what you guys chose for your characters, just make it more Hammerfellish and take comfort in the fact you won't be parted with your stuff for too-too long- there will even be instances where you may have access to it in the city itself.

Sounds good.

She could probably get away with keeping her ring, otherwise she can manage without the circlet and robes for a while. Just don't anyone expect her to cast more than one or two expert spells at a time...
She does have added advantage of not being a Hero of Tamriel, and so is less likely to be recognized.

One all important thing though. What about her Dwemer sphere? Carrying it will be kinda bad I assume...

Cool, thanks Dervs.
I figure some leather armor covered by a couple coats of mail and topped off by robes should do nicely. It'll be more of a speed and finesse build and give me an opportunity to switch up Blade's style a bit.

I posed a question to Dervs but he was hosting a shindig at the time (sorry again for interrupting if I did!) so I'll do the same here in case I'm just being daft. The way I see, escaping the Necromancer's Isle, making it back to the mainland and setting up a fully furnished camp took probably 6-8 hours to accomplish, right? In the Rihad posts though it seems like no time has past at all from the moment we reconvened with Talosman and everything went boom. Like I said, maybe I'm just being dumb but it seems we would have at least been able to regroup back at the docks if we started fleeing eight hours ago, yeah?
