"I didn't have a name until I was four...pretty inconvinient I have to admit. So I named myself after a card I won from an old man ripping his customers off their money...this one!"

Jack showed his worn out Jack of Spades card, his valuable treasure.

"Now that I think about it, I wouldn't be a world-famous poker player if not for this card! Strange twist of fate!" he said and briefly laughed.

Jack noticed that Sky's steps were becoming less random by every passing second, figuring out that she may have seen or listened to something he did not.

"I assume you found out something, Sky?"

"Found? No not exactly." Sky paused a moment to listen, putting a hand to the wall of the ship. All of the sounds rushed at her at once, causing her to cringe away. "Woah." She mumbled, tentatively placing her palm flat against the wall again. The noise was loud but she could hear the voices somewhere in the distance. Closing her eyes, Sky tried to focus on the voices as one would tune out a crowd to listen to one person speak. It were as if the other sounds faded away and there were only the voices, some female while another was male. "I don't know what they did to me, but I might turn out to be handy after all." She motioned for Jack to follow her. "I can hear them, if only I had a better way to find them."

Al eyes widened at Liz's request. "You...you want me to burn you? Seriously?"Cauterizing the wounds on her legs was a smart idea, but he didn't' know if he had the control to do something so small when he had just been trying to burn things to a crisp previously. "If your sure about this I can at least try and give it a shot." He created a small flame that flickered between his index finger and thumb like a lighter, "Tell me when."

"I'd really rather have the best chance of survival, plus the wounds are away from my stomach and chest, so less chance of more severe injury. Just do your best to not make me extra crispy. I'd be a lot less helpful if I were dead." She said gritting her teeth. She knew what she was asking for was crazy, but it was better than being dead. "I believe in you. and the flame doesn't have to be that small, just as small as you are confident in controlling, and guide the flame to the cuts." She breathed slowly, and deeply. "I'm ready if you are."

"It's not like the ship is going to crash or something, right? At least we know there are others and they are alive, assuming you can hear them..." Jack responded as he followed Sky's signal.

It was quite strange that they did not encounter any Vitus on their way. It was their ship after all and he imagined that it would be flooding with them now that there were escapees inside. Not that it wasn't convinient. A young girl was hurt and Jack would prefer to avoid endangering her. Then he remembered.

"By the way, I can do this!" he said and threw a glass shard than exploded in a nearby wall, blasting it away.

"If it can by any means help you, like creating a shortcut to the source of the sounds you hear, or make them any louder, I could just tear some more of this place. Besides, the decoration does not suit my taste!"

John came down the hallway and saw that he was right behind the others. He saw that Al was trying to cauterize Liz's wounds. Well that was good. It seemed that the Vitus they had captured was leading them somewhere seeing as how they had moved from their location where he left them. "I found another one of us. He should be coming up right behind," John said as he walked towards the others.

"Ya say stuff like that, and it might go to my head." Al said as he positioned himself himself near the wounds on her legs, and held the small flame ready. He wasn't sure the flame he had was large enough to close the wound fast enough and after contemplating it for a bit made the flame larger about the size of a small ball. He was a lot calmer than earlier so his flame was much easier to control than from when he had first broke open his tank.He motioned to John."Be ready to hold her down, just in case. Alright, here it goes." He pressed the flames carefully at the cuts and concentrated on nothing but the flame, and keeping it small and in form as he set to work closing up the wounds.

Sky considered the extraordinary gift with care before shaking her head. "The ship sounds stable for now, but I'd hate to mess that up before we have a chance to get out of here. Save that for the Vitus, wherever they may be." She said, looking around another empty corridor. "Maybe they came this way, which is why there aren't any of them around. We should hurry in case their in trouble." Picking up the pace Sky looked around cautiously and called out. "Hey! If you can hear me, say something."

John knelt beside Liz, hands hovering over her shoulders in case she started flailing. When he went to visit his parents in the hospital he'd had to walk through the intensive care ward. He'd seen a fair number of nurses pinning down trashing patients and they always did so with the shoulders. He had no idea why but he assumed the nurse went to medical school so she knew a tad bit more about the subject than he did.

Liz gritted her teeth as she felt the flames searing the cuts on her legs shut. All across her body, her muscles tensed up, practically locking, while she waited for the Human Torch to finish closing up the wounds. Her eyes were shut so tight, that no one could open them. Her hands were balled into fists as she fought to keep from moving, which could injure herself or Crystal or The Human Torch or the med student who had his hands over her shoulders. Tears formed in the corners of her eyes. She expected there to be a lot of pain, but this was more than she expected.

Jack steadily moved throughout the ship, waiting for a response to Sky's call. He wandered how big was the ship. The lack of Vitus still made no sense, something that bugged him. Jack assumed that if there were humans moving freely in the ship, they would be once again restrained and taken back to their confinement, these horrific tubes. So the only logical explanation he could come up with was that any human they would encounter would have some kind of ability that would help them go head to head with the Vitus, much like his own ability.

"If the Vitus are responsible for this development, then this is a prime example of misusing a good hand...Who would have thought that we would be able to stand up to them, thanks to their own atrocities..."

The thought made Jack smirk a little. Not that he liked being an experiment and having freaky powers, but if he could blast some Vitus with them then he could deal with it. His thoughts were interrupted by the faint smell of burning flesh.

"Hey, I smell something-or someone-burning...Should we follow the smell?" he said to Sky.

Luger kept to himself, staying a steady distance away from the group, the main one that is. His eyes wavered over them occasionally, like he was studying them. He didn't want to be a bother, seeing as he didn't know how to use his own power. Another thing being that he didn't want to be in the way of others, hoping to keep himself as one less casualty.

Al kept his focus on the task at hand, everything else went completely unnoticed. He could tell she was trying not to move, which made the job a lot easier. "Just hang on a bit longer, I'm almost done!" The wounds around wolf-girl's legs were starting to blacken as the flames did their work, burning the skin closed. A few more seconds later, he brought the flame away from her legs and did a double take to make sure that he hadn't missed any stray cuts, but found none. "I think I got 'em all, you should be good."

Crystal wrinkled her nose at the smell and fought against the nausea that was threatening to take over. She kept her eyes fixed on Human Torch's face, not daring to look down at what he was doing as she supported Liz, her arm still wedged firmly under Liz's arms. She couldn't imagine the pain that the poor girl was in, and she knew that she wouldn't have been able to endure it herself. Then she had an idea.

"Cold would numb the pain. I can ice the worst areas but we really need to get moving." Crystal aimed that last statement at the rest of the group. Her arm tightened protectively around Liz at the thought of her having to walk after what she had just been through.

John sighs with relief and stands up. "I agree. We need to get moving. Anymore stops and we could end up dead. It's amazing that they haven't found us yet," John said, chewing on his thumbnail as a sign of anxiety.

Sky raised her nose to the air, sniffing then wrinkling her nose. "Smell isn't the greatest to rely on but at least it doesn't echo. Yeah, let's follow it. Bound to lead to something, just be ready for Vitus." The word 'Vitus' sounded like a forced hiss, as if she hated the very word itself for what they had done. Sky began jogging again, listening to the sound of each footstep on the ground. Following the burning smell might lead them into trouble so she kept a steady beat to concentrate on the noise, waiting for a disturbance to tell her that the coast wasn't clear. "Where are they all? Think they've abandoned ship or regrouped to attack us? I don't like it, let's hurry."

Jack took the lead, so he would protect Sky from any Vitus that happened to be on the way. He concluded that his abilities were more offensive than hers, so he had to take the Vitus on without leaving her exposed. The smell became more apparent as they rushed forward. Sometime later they encountered a group of people, one of them with burns on her legs.

"Is everything all right?" Jack asked.

(Legs, Blaze, the burns are on her legs)

"I'm not going to be able to walk quite yet, not until a professional takes a look at them at least. I felt the glass cut through muscle. Between that and the burning, my legs are in too much pain for me to walk at the moment. If you think icing them will help, go for it. And you. You were kind enough to help me earlier, could you help carry me again?" Liz asked, as a lone tear dripped down her face from the pain. She didn't even want to try to shift into something smaller, not knowing where the glass would end up.

Allen followed the guy hoping to find his way out, as he passed a doorway a Vitus grabbed him from behind and dragged him back into the smokey corridor, Allen let out a loud almost inhuman roar, his voice sounded like an explosion as his whole body started to glow again, "GET THE FUCK OFF ME!!!" Allen closed his eyes as the energy built until he couldn't hold it back anymore, "AHHHHHHHHHH!!!" Allen felt the energy explode around him causing the Vitus to turn to dust before his skeleton could hit the ground. Allen dropped to his knees as the energy enveloped the area around him melting and burning anything within 10 feet of him. After a moment Allen forced the energy back down into himself and almost instantly his strength returned to him. Allen stood up and dizzily walked to the area the guy had gone only to find a big group of mainly young people, one of them just finishing burning a leg wound closed. "What the hell? Are you all test subjects as well?" Allen looked pissed, "Damn these Vitus how many lives did they ruin by taking us away from the people who needed us???!!!" unknowingly Allen's arms, hands, and eyes had started to glow again.

Lexi was slowly losing energy. She would no be capable of maintaining herself much longer. But then something bad happened a girl had cuts all across her legs and The man with fire began cauterizing wounds. The smell actually caused Lexi to vomit and pass out.
