Thanks for that breakdown, World Traveler. I think a lot of people fail to realize that making a movie is a highly speculative business venture, not just a bunch of people goofing around and having fun.

It certainly can start that way. The having fun part. But yeah, that quickly fades away when you start doing more than, say, what the kids in Super 8 do.

Anywho, my sheet'll be up in the morning

Whoa, the Guild is back up! Yay!

Character Acceptances and Details
I'll create a character roster momentarily, with all the accepted characters. Click on your username/character name hider to see my feedback on your character~

I'm working on my first CS, but I'm having a bit of a block ><

And TL;DR, everyone so far is accepted. So if you could start establishing relationships, that'd be great :D

I'll also PM everyone who hasn't posted a character yet to see if they're still in.
In regards to that post by World Traveler...

I feel so wrong being the GM for this RP >< Everyone seems to have a much better understanding about the entire process. I haven't really given too much thought to the financial aspect of it, but yes. It's definitely a really big part, for everyone. The only thing I can say, is that everyone should keep in mind exactly what was posted by Traveler. It's a very realistic aspect of filmmaking, and I'm sure that it'll be on every character's minds. Thanks for the informative post!

And in terms of the Wonder Woman idea... I don't see a problem with it, but I'm not really ecstatically jumping up either. I think this is mostly because I never really got into superheroes in general though, not because I'm like "Blehhh" at all. World Traveler, I think you should type up a quick synopsis if it's not too much trouble, so I can get it up into the OP for all to see.

If we're doing a Wonder Woman movie, it gives more opportunities for people making A-List actresses, but a lot less opportunity for others to make male actors.

Though, I'm for the advance of female roles in movies, especially in superhero movies. Catwoman was an abomination that they need to find a way to redo 'cause I like Selina Kyle. :( I even thought Anne Hathaway was an amazing Selina in the last Batman movie.

To be safe, I think a film that would cater well to both male and female actors would be a better idea. However, I do agree that it needs to be a blockbuster hit, just to create more tension and drama, all that good stuff. As well, we could certainly look at the current role of people we have and possible come up with something, in regards to their skills and talents. Need a crew who knows what they're doing and a director who knows the genre inside and out. There are certain directors who are amazing inside their niche, but probably couldn't direct something outside of it to the best of their abilities. This is all assumption, though, and I'm sure anyone who's made a director already could very well give him the chops to direct whatever we decide to film.

>_> <_< I personally want a Romantic Comedy or a Comedy in general, but that's me and I'm not sure that'd be as big a hit as something like Wonder Woman or anything in the MCU or whatever.

The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, anyone? LOL. That's way too esoteric and less known, but it was intended as a joke... so. Or maybe this is just me wanting to use Martin Freeman. *Cough* Shut your mouth, Miso.

We could compromise. A highly-anticipated action movie with male and female co-leads and a comedy element (I see a lot of comedy in recent action-oriented movies).

As for relationships, I think given that they're both from England and work in similar departments, Phoebe and Leo would have crossed paths at least once before.

I agree. If we're doing a superhero movie, something with multiple heroes would be better.

It could be, but we have a stuntman, so that might be a little difficult.

Martin is so adorable in the Fargo commercials I've been seeing. I want to hug him so badly. D: Tommy Lee Jones, on the other hand looks like a creepy pedophile.

It looks much better.

I'll create a character roster soon ish.... Maybe. Hopefully. Possibly. Probably. I also need to finish my character and update the OP, figure out plot ideas on top of the other roleplay obligations, homework, musical practice and things I have to do.

Might take a while, since I'm procrastinating on everything XD

Thank you for the kind words, but you are the right person for the GM. I am the kind of guy who loves talking and discussing ideas as much as doing the role play its self. I don't have a habit of leaving role plays, but when I lead them I often feel like I am dragging them along. I am more comfortable being an active member of a role play than actually leading them. So far you have done a great job and have me very excited about being a part of this role play.

Wonder Woman

Firstly, I just threw this out as a possible idea because I was thinking of movie topics that have a lot of issues as far as possible drama and overall character interactions. I am happy to write up a short summery of what I had pictured, but I will do that on request. For now we can search for other ideas. I was in no way saying this was the only idea or other ideas wouldn't be as good. If people aren't feeling it then we can move on from it. If you would like there are several other ideas that could bring about the same drama in front and behind the camera. Some major ideas

James Bond
This idea is pretty standard. It has plenty of action, travel, drama, and a lot of Hollywood hype every time one comes out. Some interesting points we could take are actually happening in real life to this series. They are considering a black actor for the next James Bond once Daniel Craig steps down. That could be really interesting both in the role play and in real life. I look forward to it! Also there would be plenty of actor and actress space along with a hefty budget for us to have fun with.

Indiana Jones
This is basically the same idea; however, the big story could be us making a reboot. In other words making an Indiana Jones movie without Harrison Ford. This could go in several directions. There would be a lot of negative energy which would likely have an effect on the whole crew. Either push them to make it the best damn movie in the franchise of possibly have people leave (NPC's) which would put the film in threat of cancellation requiring everyone to pull double duties.

Video Game
A few ideas that come to mind are Halo, The Last of Us, Final Fantasy (Live Action), Dead Space, Mass Effect the list goes on and on. The big thing about this option is that they could have a lot of extra drama and character responsibilities. Actors need to be prepped on their character and make sure they never say anything that makes them overly uneducated on the game. Director has to be liked by the fans in order to get good energy pumped into the rumors and talk about the movie. The producers and other managing groups have to also deal with the video game company who would likely demand a lot of oversight. These are high up issues, but then other crew situations like leaking photos or things could create an issue where the crew becomes central as well.

These are some of my thoughts. If anyone has questions I am happy to answer.

Balls, I said Tommy Lee Jones, didn't I?

That's MIB. I meant to say Billy Bob Thornton. I get them mixed up too often. >_>

Also, I was just going through Tumblr stuff and apparently, it's not coming out until 2016 *Cough* maybe. Might just be assuming things because of the previous hiatus.

EDIT: I really enjoy the James Bond and Video Game ideas. :o (Female James Bond?! *LEGASP*) I say that because James is usually the big star, with others being mainly supporting roles, especially female parts. Most of them were just love interests who, I think, didn't have much of a part other than sex appeal. It would be nice to either reverse that, or make a female role more prominent alongside James Bond. I think they did that with the recent Daniel Craig incarnations of the movie. At least, more so. It's been awhile since I've seen Bond movies.

If we did one for a video game, The Last of Us would probably be one of the biggest hits out of those and one that would most likely succeed. That's my opinion, mostly because Halo was mainly used as a multiplayer Sci-Fi CoD and people have a lack of faith in regards to making things like Final Fantasy or any anime-ish material in Live Action movies. Not many of those have succeeded and I don't think many people would have faith in it if it weren't animated. Mass Effect and Dead Space would probably be a good second pick, if no one has played The Last of Us, since they both have a good fanbase and pretty good stories, though the animated Dead Space movie didn't get to theatres, if I remember correctly.

Um, hm, what else? Metal Gear Solid could be a decent film, but we'd have to have a person who looks very, very similar to Solid Snake, but that shouldn't be hard. There are a lot of gruff looking actors and stuff out there that could fill the role. But, something like that would lack many female roles, or roles in general that weren't Sold Snake or Villains. Otacon was mainly voice. No wait, I'm wrong, Meryl is a pretty big female role with Johnny and Raiden following close behind, in terms of general roles. Yeah, no, never mind, there are plenty of roles for actors and a good spot for a stunt man too.

Of course, there are plenty of other ideas. :o

We could do Book-to-Movie adaptation, especially since Hunger Games and Harry Potter were such gigantic hits.

Awwww, thank you so much! I love discussing ideas--sometimes, even more than actually roleplaying. (I think this is a problem ._.) Unfortunately, I've claimed the role of the director so I can more or less direct this RP, and I'm terribly uneducated in stuff like this. >> So.... Help, everyone?

I love the idea of video games (FINAL FANTASY MOVIE?!?!?!), but it might be a bit difficult since it's not guaranteed that everyone's played that game. But dude. Final Fantasy live action? Eeeek! I'd love to do that for FFIX, but sadly, it's one of the lesser known games (everything is all about final fantasy VII these days~). I've played FFXIII as well, but thinking realistically, everyone's already so done with it anyway. lesigh. I would also love to do a movie of Uncharted, since my friend is literally obsessed with it, and I think that it could work--from what I know of it anyway. I've only played bits and pieces. And if we do that, someone has to use Nathan Fillion as a faceclaim because I think he's perfect for the role of Nathan Drake... And he actually expressed interest!

The video games I play are usually JRPGs, so it wouldn't work for this roleplay. Sadface XD

Peoples reaction to my ideas actually has me thinking some of the ideas are even better than I originally thought. Before that I think it is fair to remind everyone that we are just doing a role play. For some reason it feels like people are looking for a sure thing as far as movie success and that only really exists if we do a superhero movie and even then it would only be a marvel or possibly the next DC movie. Anyways everything you guys just said about why a specific video game wouldn't work is in fact a reason to pick that movie I think.

Remember for a role play to be interesting things need to happen. Everything going according to plan would be pretty boring after all.

Also picking something that everyone knows about is something I would ask we avoid. For many people what the movie is about has no real weight or importance. "My job is to make sure the camera works." Is the mentality for a lot of people. Also it is very common for a crew to familiar themselves with a production if it were to be needed. This would mean people like set design, costume and makeup, even the people doing action sequences would all have to interact with people who do know about the series (A consultant character for example) or some of the writers and producers.

Not knowing about something would be a HUGE advantage for your character to gain conversation scenes and honestly be a great way for our characters to get to know each other. If it is a video game perhaps people watch as they take turns playing the game as a group. Or a book club if the

It being from another country is also a big deal because it would almost certainly guarantee it would have to be altered in ways that would upset fans. Instead of the standard Japanese vibe of most jrpgs what if the entire cast is mostly white and it takes place in New York instead of Tokyo. Basically what happened to all the modern versions of Godzilla tho the new one looks pretty fun.

Enh, it might be better to RP about an original story, not an adaption of something, for two reasons. One, not everyone might be familiar with the source material, and two, it's way too easy for those that are to just start arguing about interpretation and what should and shouldn't be in the movie, rather than just playing the game.

A general adaptation would work too.

No one's gonna argue about a Bond movie or a Men in Black movie that doesn't focus on J and K.

Unless we totally askew something, but we don't need to argue about it OOCly. However, like Traveler said, making something people would have problems with in terms of how the material is interpreted would be good IC fuel for tension and drama, as long as we're all cool with it.

And I also agree with what he said about material that we don't all know about.

I think we should at least do something that would stir up the media in a negative way, say if it ws about some recent crises where thousands died, or if it was about something that happened during a war. It would make it a lot more interesting to see how our characters deal with the pressure of making a movie that people already hate, even when the movie's not finished.
