History:
When Merida was younger, she was a very small, cute little child and had a close relationship with both her mother and her father. She also tended to be playful, as shown by her playing hide and seek with her mother and being very hyperactive. She is also shown to have developed an interest in archery early on her childhood, possibly by influence from her father. As she has grown up, Merida is still very energetic and free spirited, but has a more stricted relationship with her mother (though she still holds the same good relationship with her father) and is more rebellious.
Merida decided that she had enough of her mothers rules and ran. Ran far away from home only to notice an old lady wondering around in the woods. She abrutly made Angus stop as she questioned the woman. The old lady only had a sly smile on her face as she handed Merida a small book. Spell book? The old lady tugged on her sweater and looked up at Merida. Her eyes were soulless. They felt as if they needed someone in company. Merida backed away slowly and yelled at the old lady. The old lady just stood there and giggled softly; her bony hands pointed towards the book. "That.." She coughed but continued, "you want to stop your mother right? Tell her how you feel?" The old lady walked up to her and softly whispered. "Now, darling, follow the instructions." What Merida didn't know was. She was going to kill her mother. The old lady was against their kingdom and the only thing she wanted to achieve in life is wanting them dead. Merida widen her eyes and got on top of her horse as she read the spell. It wasn't what she expected it to be, but it was good enough. There was a recipe. A recipe of a fruit. As Merida arrived, she continued to make the fruit. and happily sang a song on her way to her mothers room. Her mother smiled back, glad that she was okay. Merida gave her the fruit and explained that she felt bad and wanted to make something so her mother can forgive her.
Hah.
After eating the fruit, she stared at Merida, her happy expression soon turned into a frightened face. Her hands were disappearing. Merida panicked, the old lady lied. What a liar. Merida hugged her mother, she cried and cried as she buried her head into her mothers dress. "It's okay.." Her mother rubbed Meridas head softly, Merida broke up in tears as she saw her mother smiling and disappeared without a sight. A few days passed and Merida still couldn't forgive herself. Everyone around the kingdom was worried. Especially her father, her father cried himself to sleep at most times but he still had a smile on his face. She hurt everyone. Her brothers as well were crying but everyone still put up smiles. Merida felt guilty. She felt horrible of herself. She couldn't just forget the fact that her mother died because of her. She died because of her owns daughter selfish reasons.
I'm sorry. I truly am sorry. Don't leave me.
Personality:
Merida is a very brave, bold, daring, courageous, stubborn, rebellious and headstrong girl who does not fit the stereotypical princess role. Rather than being a damsel in distress Merida openly rebels and defies her heritage as a princess and would like for nothing more than to be a normal girl. She is very athletic and enjoys nothing more than riding her horse Angus and practicing her archery, of which she is the best in the kingdom. She also seems to be skilled in sword fighting, She tends to be ungraceful and has bad manners, and is extremely tomboyish. She greatly resembles her father, as the two both tend to be unruly, impulsive and loud. However, she also does resemble her mother in terms of stubbornness and inability to listen to others.
Family:
King Fergus the heroic warrior with a majestic bear cape, broad sword and a knobby peg leg; Her deceased mother(Queen Elinor); and her silly brothers!
Friends:
At the moment her only trusted friend is Angus. She adores him!

Merida's name means "honorable" in Gaelic.
