Alex felt his heart break when she pulled away. "Nyx, I didn't... I just don't want to see you..." but it was already too late, she was gone. He tried to get up and follow her again, but found he didn't have the will to stand. "Nyx," he whisoered, as if saying her name would bring her back. "You hate me after all, don't you?" Slumping back against the wall, he held his hand in front of his face. "Starfire..." he said, and a bluish white flame spread from his fingers, iluminating the tears rolling down his face. "Is this my punishment then? To get what I want most and lose it because of my own ineptitude? I guess I can't say I don't deserve it."
