Melanie nodded and pulled her phone out, calling her mate and asking for him to come and help babysit a load of pups.

When he arrived, Lily told Lester to go, and he did gratefully. "Thank you" lily said, setting Auryn down in a portacrib

Melanie nodded, holding Cally as she drifted off for a nap. "You're welcome. I was coming to tell Pakuna that something strange was going on within the other covens. Their leaders have been vanishing, some turning up dead."

Lily was silent for a few moments looking over the children, all of whom were ckimbing over lucan and Alec. "There has been ru ors of similar things happen. Some of our elders have been attacked, and one killed"

"This isn't good... Someone's trying to throw both races off balance," She said.

Lily sighed, "so. What should we do?" She said, "e are all over thenplace at the moment. And Alyss...and Cassie can't fight at the moment, if it co es to that" she realised just how vulnerable they all were at the moment. "Oh, this is bad"

"I'll ask some questions among the other covens. I've got a really bad feeling that this isn't even close to over," Melanie said.

Lily nodded, "me either" she said, "and after this, Pakuna won't rest 9until whatever ba-beasts who hurt Alyss are caught. None of us will"

Melanie nodded and put Cally down on one of the many sleeping mats strewn about the play room. "You've got that right," She said.

"We will need someone with the kids at all times" lily said speaking outloud, "As much as it will cause Cassie grief, she will have to be one of the ones staying with tne kids. We have a lot of pack members, and are friendky with the other packs jn tne area. Lots of wolf power. How many covens will be fine working with us?"

Melanie nodded. "With my coven included, there are several that are beginning to form alliances with packs," She said.

"That's a relief" Lily said, just as Lucan sat up, turning his head, "something's coming" he said, already untangling himself from the kids, and heading outside. Alec followed suit. Lily hesitated, glancing at Auyrn, and the other kids.

"I don't like this" she said, rising, "kids! Stay quite. And together. Don't leave this room" she took headed out.

What she saw outside wasn't what she expected. Lucan and Alec, in wolf form, were growling at another wolf. Smaller then the boys, but no less formidable , the wolf had grey in its fur, signifying age. It's fur was brown where it wasn't grey. It offered no threat, simply stood there

It was the eyes that gave her away. "Nan" the wolf gave a small whine, and fell to the ground

Victor and Melanie gathered the kids up and ducked under the view of the window sill. "It's another wolf," Victor said softly. Melanie nodded and looked down, counting kids, freezing when she didn't see Alex among them. She bit her lip and looked around before running out of the room.

Lily found a dart on Nan. "Help get her inside. Then look around, see if anyone followed" Lily said, heading inside just as Melanie ran out "what?"

Melanie looked at the wolf briefly then looked around, biting her lip. "I can't find Alex," She said.

"One trouble after another. Can you catch his scent?" Lily asked, glancing about. She had been sure none of the kids had slipped passed her

"Faintly, he's not in the house," Melanie said. "It's not easy since he's a halfling."

"Then maybe you need another halfling to find him" Lily said, taking a few sniffs of the air, distinguishing from the wolf children.

"Kenna's the only other halfling, I don't think she's able to track yet," Melanie said, taking in deep breaths to try and get a better scent.

"I really hAte shifting in the house" Lily sighed but did so, her wolf form small and agile, more closer to that of a true wolf than anything else. She sniffed, trying to follow the scent
