Bette answered him while Xavier was keeping quiet while riding down the road," That is true so we will have Xavier retire or join with mercenaries so he can complete his goal.." Bette added looking towards the mute who now turned to face Madawc thinking of something.

Madawc noticed the mute's stare at him. "Hey, what are you thinking ?" He had to speak a bit louder as the distance had become a bit larger than it had been before. He got a gut feeling that it could have something to do with the mercenaries...

Xavier let out a soft moan before turning his head back towards the road, Heading down the dirt road and soon enough the group would be at the near by village of Jaric. The villagers now staring at them while Xavier stopped his horse in front of a shop so he could buy supplies for them to the trip to Bravado.

"I asked you a question..." Madawc repeated, this time a bit more insistently. "The way you looked at me... what were you thinking ?" Madawc got off his horse, one could easily see how relieved the beast was to have him off of its back.

Xavier stopped his horse for a moment getting off his horse staring down at Madawc,"Nothing..." Was the words that came out of his mouth now getting on his horse and riding slowly away form him. Bette smiled and knew that this apart of his awakening she would have to keep watch over him since he would be weak when it came to his demonic powers.

Madawc followed, but not without a noticeable bit of hesitation. A bit more information would really have been a good thing, but no... He wouldn't get it. Damn Bette! Everything had been so nice and slow and easy before her appearance, and now... The demon vigorously pulled at the reigns of his horse to make it go faster.

With them on their way down the dirt road it would be normal for the most part with no interruptions, Xavier said nothing and kept riding his horse with Bette wrapping her arms around his waist for support. Blushing a bit form underneath his helmet and kept riding trying to ignore her breasts rubbing up against his back.

Madawc was close to feeling embarrassed on behalf of Xavier and what was happening behind him. "Don't you think it would be better if we get Bette her own horse ? Would relieve yours of the strain, too." There was a little, but noticeable bit of demonic chuckle in his tone...

"How much gold do you two have?" Bette said peering over form the mute's shoulder to look at Madawc, "twenty five hundred..." Xavier said calmly a bit surprised that Madawc was not surprised that Xavier was talking.

"Hmm... not much." Madawc replied, leaving the question how much 'not much' really was unanswered deliberately. "Why do you ask?" He wanted to find out what they intended to spend his money on first. "You want to buy another horse or what ?"

"Yes...if that is what you are implying..." Xavier said staring at him now form where he was,"Well how much do you have?Maybe you two can bring up enough gold together to buy a horse..." Bette said softly looking over to Madawc also while the three of them were heading pasted a caravan of merchants.

"I think..." Madawc started digging into his pockets, apparently most of them were empty or filled with other things than coins. "... the equivalent of two hundred seventy seven... or so. Do you need a good one ?"

"I think i will only need one that can get us to point B..." Bette said sighing and holding tightly onto Xavier's waist, "That will be enough" The young man said blinking before moving ahead to the next town.

They arrived at their selected destination a few hours later. Madawc had not said much, but he had been increasingly busy with holding himself together and not break out in loud laughter. Seeing Xavier and Bette squeeze onto each other was somewhat hilarious to see for him. He wouldn't have tolerated this if it had been him, that was for sure.

The fact that Xavier was suddenly able to speak wasn't a surprise for the demon. It would probably have been if it had happened as a single event, but compared to the ex-mute having been declared as one of the most important persons currently alive and being partly a demon himself, it was rather neglegible. After all, one could not speak of 'suddenly' anymore: He had been able to speak since he was born. It had been just dormant - or a lie altogether for an unknown reason. Madawc couldn't tell.

Now he was waiting what kind of dirt-cheap horse the two were going to buy.

"Which one do you think would be good?" Bette said pointing to the many horses that were standing in a stable naying softly, As they got into the town many of the villagers of the town were watching the three of them most of them staring at Xavier's armor or the strange feeling form Madawc being around.

Xavier did not say anything feeling somewhat tired for a reason he did not know yet, but Bette would know that the ex-mute needs either blood to nurse him in a way.

Madawc had noted the grim glance the stablemaster had thrown at him. He was observing the half-demon.

"I think he's afraid of me sitting on any of his horses..." Madawc suddenly grabbed Bette and lifted her single-handedly on his outstretched arm before dropping her to the floor again. "You are lithe, pick any. But maybe I might have to add my armor to it if mine can't carry me anymore with it."

Bette nodded to this and started walking around the stable avoiding the horse shit that was littered on the floor,Stopping for a moment after a half hour or so pointing to a strong looking horse that was a dark brown in color with white spots adored all over it's body. Xavier nodded and looked over the stable owner who was watching them carefully, The stableman gave his price for the house as the ex-mute pulled out some gold form the gold sack waiting for Madawc to do the same to pay for Bette's horse.

"You know that I should expect a favor in return for this..." Madawc said lowly before giving his coins and threw them gently at the stableman. "Now we need proper gear and supplies for you..."

Madawc got back to his own beast, earning the stableman's grim view once again as it became clear that the demon wanted to get back up on his own mount.

"Thanks" Bette said smiling and that that the stablemen was paid as Bette got on the horse, "I don't expect much..just gonna do my part to help you as best i can" She then added rubbing the horse's neck. "Where next?" Xavier said softly wondering where they would be going to get some gear.

Madawc shrugged his shoulders. "How should I know ? I didn't lead us to this town. We need food stuff and a proper saddle, or do you intend to ride bareback ?" He now mounted his own horse again, the stableman looking rather shocked seeing his horse having to carry him. >>You should walk, you fat man!<< he yelled at him, presenting a bad gesture and advancing towards the demon-man by a few short steps.

Madawc wasn't pleased. Enough was enough. This guy wanted to see that he was still physically able to do a lot of things ? Fine... He jumped off and grabbed the stableman single-handedly, forcing him to the ground and pressing his elbow onto his chest. "I don't respond well to insults!"
