Vega Character Background

**SPOILERS!!!**

Archetype: Wildcard 2

Name: Adrian Hunter

Alias: Vega

Age: 17 turning 18 (Then 24)

Powers: First discovery/Use of his power, he was able to repel objects with an outward spherical pulse. Later throughout the story he will learn to concentrate the source of the force from his body parts (e.g. stronger punches/kicks, etc.). Next stage he learns to reverse this ability into a pull instead of a push/detonation. As he learns to control his abilities more and more, he learns that if he focuses the force (attractive or repulsive) from a spherical shape into a more focused point he can increase the range without sacrificing the power. He will be able to increase the time duration to longer than an impulse. Upon mastery of this power he's able to generate and control the size of black holes at will thus connecting to his name, Vega.

Power Limitations: For now, it's only a quick burst/ Friendly fire. Unforeseen consequences onto user. Unstable in early stages.

Weaknesses: Basic human weaknesses.

Alignment: Neutral

Personality: Loner, Righteous, Intelligent, Bitter

Appearance: 6'3", mixed black/white, indigo eyes, outfit: nightwing but indigo instead of the blue.

Brief Bio: Adrian Hunter is a graduating senior at Athens High. His abilities come from a meteorite that granted him the Push/Pull abilities very similar to that of the 6th Pain from Naruto. On top of feeling alienated for being half black and half white, his story will take a darker and darker twist as his abilities isolate him more and more from his friends and family. This metaphorical separation soon becomes a literal separation as his greatest ability develops and hurls him through a black hole only to reemerge in a later timeline where over half a decade has passed. His friends have aged, the world has changed and his mother was murdered in his absence. Also, he has aged too.
His goal is to return to the past to save his mother but a whole lot happens in between learning how to deflect bullets and having the ability to control something that can rip through the fabrics of space-time.

Story line:
Time Arc - Adrian starts out as a graduating senior. After a few battles and character development, there is a time lapse (How the laps happens is part of the plot twist). The story line will split into two timelines. One where we follow Adrian's origin story as he develops and learns to control his abilities. The other will be current timeline that he is trapped in with all the current heroes/villains until he is able to control his new ability. In the current timeline, Adrian Hunter has long been 'dead', so he takes on his super identity "Vega" as he faces new challenges and quickly learns about the murder of his mother during his absence.
On top of facing this new and shocking reality that Adrian has been thrown into, he fully embraces his isolated existence that was eluded to in his origin story. His friends have aged and moved on and most are left in the past but there are still some familiar adversaries from his origin story. One in particular, Dissonance. Having grown up in the same high school, Vega and Dissonance have a long-standing rivalry both in and out of their super identities. Vega and Dissonance's hostile relationship stems from competition, conflicting missions/goals. It also stems from a place of pride, resentment and begrudging respect towards Dissonance due to having such similar abilities yet, constantly falling short of success.
But something's wrong... in this new timeline, no one remembers a hero named Vega.

Hmm, there does seem to be quite a few similarities with our powers, but I don't mind too much :) if anything, if Dissonance ever does get redeemed, it could lead to a teacher student sort of thing. But yeah, that's cool, and I like the idea of having a rival of sorts.

Teacher/Student thing would be cool but if Vega and Dissonance are going to be rivals, would you mind if I write in that they were in the same class together? (making them about the same age 24~25)
If we go down this route, Vega is going to 'learn' from Dissonance by losing to her and then pushing himself past current limitations.
Also, Dissonance has had her powers for at least 10 years in this current timeline correct?

Aww man. I needed it to be 6 years+ because of the time jump.
Dissonance needs to be there to push Vega's power growth to be able to do the time jump but Dissonance won't get her powers for another 3 years...

So now, the only way that I can prevent a time inconsistency would be alternate universes. In Vega's original universe; the one where Dissonance got her powers around the same time Vega did (to build the rivalry) and then in this current universe that Vega is trapped in (The current one we're role playing in) is where Dissonance doesn't remember Vega (Because they never fought) because she only got her abilities 3 years ago and undertook the combat training.

P.S. I appreciate your patience with me and I hope that I am not annoying you with these questions. I just want to bang out all of the inconsistencies before I start writing the backstory and it's too late to fix it.

@Parfex What if, and I'm just spitballing here, Yours and Carlsberg's characters went to the same school but personally didn't know each other. She's a few years older but at a high school campus you would have still seen each other around, between the two of you y'all can decide on some kind of activity that the two of you would've taken part of during school that would've started the rivalry.

You then receive your powers from the fallen meteorite, learn about your powers and start to develop and nurture your powers while taking on the growing crime in the city and trying to start making a name for yourself as a hero, maybe something other than Vega as you decide after the time lapse to use Vega as your name. Maybe in the early days it's like Spider-man where your character doesn't have a 'superuit' and just runs around with a mask and a hoodie to hide your identity. Eventually you'll one day be using your powers when you open a black hole for the first time and are sucked into it, and then Interteller-esque your flung through time and arrive back in New Athens aged to 24 (maybe even 23 with a month or so before turning 24 to give your character time to adjust to the sudden change and time to acclimate), the black hole closing as soon as it sucks you in. Once out you learn your mother is dead, you read news articles on the black hole that you opened up and maybe learn that it caused some new science division (something that possibly was headed by STRIKE?) to be created in New Athens, that you were pronounced dead after going missing around the same time you created the black hole, and catch up on what's happened in the world that last however many years.

Then you get to the present day, I'd probably make it a few days after what's going on currently between Carlsberg and Jotunn's characters so your own character can learn about it through the newspaper or news channel. you see Dissonance from security camera footage or what have you and realize that she look familiar. Aha moment, it's her from school, she's evil using powers similar to your own, so in your righteous mind you're obligated to stop her (maybe thinking she gained her powers like you did).

If you do things this way we're not having to deal with multiple realities or universes but just a single universe where your character was flung several years into the future. No one has to change any of their plans, no storylines are affected, and no one is having to worry about two separate realities where Dissonance got her powers when you did and one where she didn't. Doing this your first fight with Dissonance will be just that, your first fight with Dissonance. This will strengthen the rivalry between you and cause you to try harder unlocking your other abilities.

I'll be unavailable till after 3 EST. Gotta go into work right now. Yesterday was long and tedious, then to add to the aggravation my kid's all-star t ball coaches are all idiots. Who has a practice then doesn't let the kids bat? They literally stood in the 92 degree sun for an hour and a half running after balls the one coach was hitting. I wasn't the only parent complaining either, so I felt less shitty. But still...

You've got a deep understanding for character development and you've been able to predict my original story almost perfectly.
So, here's the challenges that I'm facing, and maybe you can help me with these:
1. Due to the similarities in powers and the fact that Dissonance was thought up first, Vega has to lose to her. Almost always.
2. Vega Learns new abilities by trying to overcome disadvantages when fighting Dissonance.
3. Dissonance (unfortunately) got her powers 3 years after Vega in our universe, which throws out a simple time jump. Thus Vega comes from a universe where they both got their abilities at the same time and their stories unfold similar to what you said.
4. I cannot time jump without pulling everyone into the future, therefore I can only jump from the past.
5. If this is an alternate universe, what happened to the original Adrian Hunter? (I'm thinking that he's dead too, like his mother) but Vega believes that the grave is an empty tomb made due to his disappearance, when in reality, it's not empty.
6. If this is an alternate universe, Vega believes that is is only a time jump for now.
7. Due to the time jump (New universe or not) Vega believes that this timeline is "false" and that all (or most) of these events happened because he was absent in the time jump. He develops an unhealthy detachment for life because he believes that he's simply going to go back in time and "correct" any grievances that happened as a result of accidental or intentional misgivings.
8. This detachment from reality (and possibly humanity) sometimes causes people to perceive him as a villain even though he's not and still believes himself to be the hero of the past (That people either don't remember because this is a new universe or that people scorn for abandoning them if it's the same universe).
9. Vega still believes himself to be good and so he won't compromise his morals even in a "false" timeline however, it's hard to care about something (or someone) that may never happen in his "true" timeline (His outlook on his current life).

I'm working on a reply to each of the challenges your facing so I will post that later today once I return home this evening. Also, please don't post any further in the IC with your character. KL nor myself have officially approved your character, and until we get all this situated we don't want you to create a post only to have you rewrite it later. The post you have already posted is perfectly fine as it just drops your character into the current timeline or reality or whatever we'll end up going with. For the meantime if there are any other concerns you're (or any of the other players still here) having with your character don't be afraid to post them here in the OOC or PM myself or KL.
