As she pulled up in front of the school, her nerves got the better of her. Iona stayed sat in the back of the car, clutching on tight to her bag.
“I can’t possibly do this.”
It all seemed so big, so many new people, so may things to go wrong. She thought back to home, where everything was relatively simple, easy as it could be. Now here, this is as if the difficulty had increased time ten.
“You alright there Miss?”
Iona turned away from the window, looking at her taxi driver. Her parents offered to drive her, she could have even flown but yet, Iona decided a taxi was the most normal approach - even though this isn’t the most normal of schools…
She nodded in reply to the driver, and slowly exited the vehicle. As soon as Iona had collected herself on the side of the road with all her belongings, the taxi whizzed away.
Iona exhaled deeply before setting off in the direction of the entrance to the school. She proceeded to enter the hallway where she was greeted by many, many other students. The knot of anxiety grew even tighter and felt like it was suffocating her. She backed away to the side of the hallway.
Have classes even started yet? She thought to herself, I don’t even know where I’m going…
