@Dedonus Great! Now I have to think of an OC superhero. That'll be hard, would use Gambit type but the rules implied you can't make a character that resembles too much of a Marvel or DC character.

I would use Turok, the Dino Hunter, but no one gives a crap about that guy.

It is fine that your character was inspired by some actual Marvel or DC characters. We just don't want carbon copies.

For instance, on first glance, Arachne might seem like a Spider-Man clone, but beyond her alliterative name and spider powers, she's not really like Peter Parker. No tragic backstory. No science intelligence. She's a drider (at least in appearance). And I get a free pass for Spider-Gwen because I made Arachne before Spider-Gwen was published. ;)

@Dedonus Huh. Now all I have to do is think of what my OC would use to throw like Gambit. Gambit uses cards, and I can't think of anything but cards. Maybe throwing knives?

My recommendation would be that, if you want your character to have gambit-like powers, give that character a backstory that is not similar to Gambit's.

Gambit can throw pretty much anything and make it explosive. He used bolts and metallic stuff on several occasions.

@Chaotic Chao Maybe instead of using thrown objects, you just need a physical connection to do that you can toss an object a playing card or whatever so that touch extends to your enemy. Then your powers could lock on and you could toss bolts from wherever you are as long as you don't lose sight of them for too long.

@fdeviant Your plan could work, but keep in mind that Gabriel will be MOST displeased when the baddies get away with Rach. He may not be willing to listen at first.

@VATROU That's not a bad idea.

Kinda, it's like marking an object so you can fire off explosive bolts with extreme accuracy.

@VATROU Wait, so do I need a object to throw like an bolt. Or do I just make an bolt out of my hands and it targets the person I'm aiming for?

My idea was, you could toss out bolts but if you want to mark someone you'd need to mark an object to touch an enemy. This would give you an auto aim to hurl bolts from around corners even if you cannot see them, so long as you don't lose sight for too long.

@VATROU Oh I get it. Basically like a targeting rocket launcher, except not explosive and not a missile.

More like marking a spot for a airstrike or artillery with laser
Only you mark things for your energy attacks

It's not as though it's not justified, somewhat. An already unstable woman armed with the potential energy to blast half the planet to glass in the hands of a horrifically unethical corporation? I'd say he has the right to freak out a little bit.

My thoughts are, the bolts are honing in on the overcharged energy you injected the enemy with that is why you need to charge an object and why the bolts cannot do that themselves as they expel all their energy at once.

@Chaotic Chao: Racheli's based off several comic book characters, from Magneto to Venom.

Gambit's powers, from my understanding, are where he charge the card/objects (in the cartoon anything could be charged) then it had a set timer before it exploded. Sometimes it exploded on impact. His powers are also gained from being a mutant, someone born with it, which how your PC got his powers might differ. Was he exposed to radiation, dowses in chemicals during an accident, OD on a street drug that gifts powers, or something else? As Dedonus stated, just because you have the same powers doesn't make them a carbon copy. Racheli would've been considered a carbon copy of Magneto then if that was the case.

Another suggestion is take a look at the way others have done theirs. You'll be able to pick out the influences, similarities to other heroes/villians/etc in comics but also how they differ. That's my best advice.

@Fallenreaper I think my character would have been exposed to an explosion in a tour of a huge lab called Neo Tech. (Couldn't think of a better name, don't judge me.)
