The first recorded instance of a superhuman individual happened in May of the year 2047. After that, it was a slow windup to complete and utter pandemonium.

It wasnโ€™t as though no one expected it. Such dangerous powers in the hands of any random person, thereโ€™s no telling what theyโ€™ll do. Even with their global population never rising above a million, they were still a catastrophic threat to mankind. In most cases, it was simply a matter of lack of control. Superhumans didnโ€™t know their triggers and switches, or at least, didnโ€™t know how to block them from turning on and wreaking unintended havoc. Then, of course, there were the deliberate ones. Using their abilities to rob banks, go on killing sprees, all in all bringing general disarray to the public. This isnโ€™t to say that all superhumans were so malicious. A considerable number of them were actually quite responsible with their gifts. But the bad far outweighed the good, unfortunately.

Over time, matters grew worse. Cities were ruined, governments were toppled, and millions of lives were lost. But away from the thick of everything, men and women of science were racing to bring their technological prowess up to a competing level. And while no cure was ever found, per say, there were plenty of sudden breakthroughs in other fields, all thanks to โ€˜morally questionable experimentsโ€™ carried out in the dark. Performance enhancing exosuits, kinetic shields, advanced weaponry, cloaking technology, and most importantly, power-suppressing tools were rapidly designed and constructed to counter the superhuman threat. It took time, but eventually, humans reclaimed their position at the top of the ladder.

However, by the mid 2050s, the damage to global infrastructure had been well and done. In the wake of all the chaos, anti-superhuman groups rose to prominence. Paramilitary organizations were hired to both exterminate and capture any qualifying specimens they could locate. One group in particular, a majorly influential PMC known worldwide simply as Adelon, who were vital in turning the tide of war, later launched an operation that raised concerns from many. After spending quite some time helping to bring back order around the globe, Adelon began rounding up any surviving superhumans they could find. Those that were deemed too dangerous, according to agreed safety standards, were executed. Those that were too weak were simply suppressed and imprisoned indefinitely. The rest?

The rest were sent to Arkos.

Arkos is a large, predominantly tropical island far off the coasts of the Americas, located somewhere in the southern Pacific Ocean, not too far south of the equator. The lush, isolated habitat acts as a penitentiary for any and all superhumans apprehended by Adelon. It was first occupied in 2031 and fitted into a research and development center for the groupโ€™s own utilization. However, sometime during the superhuman crisis, the decision was made to scrap the existing facilities and turn the whole thing into an enclosure for their newfound charges. Adelon began bringing in waves of prisoners, setting them loose on the island and letting them have the run of the land. To what end? Well, thatโ€™s been made clear to all of Arkosโ€™ occupants - the island is a storehouse. When Adelon finds a use for someone, they come and take them away, by any means necessary.

As is to be expected, the occupants retaliate in whatever fashion they see fit. Once theyโ€™re on the island, theyโ€™re free to use their powers as they wish - this being a decision to monitor the development of every prisonerโ€™s abilities, keeping records and highlighting those that make for potentially lucrative sells. Problematic individuals who attempt to go on murderous rampages are dealt with relatively quickly, either by Adelon themselves, or the rest of the islandโ€™s dwellers. And while they share a common enemy, not all of Arkosโ€™ occupants are in league. Many form their own separate cabals, extending hostilities to anyone whoโ€™s not with them, taking the supplies Adelon drops from on high for themselves. For the most part, itโ€™s purely out of bad nature. But a fair few have come to work together and settle down in one of the islandโ€™s former major facilities - Site Borea. All of the major equipment has long since been removed, but what remains has been converted into a proper settlement. They even managed to get the power back on. None of itโ€™s ideal, but itโ€™s the best these people can do for themselves. Other sites exist, such as Vidan and Durahe, but not all of them are the welcoming sort.

The year is now 2059, three years since Arkosโ€™ first round of prisoners was brought in. The islandโ€™s population now rests at around 7,200 and upward. The distant, surrounding waters are heavily occupied by Adelon forces, and their various aircraft hang high in the sky, monitoring their assets around the clock.

Itโ€™s the month of August, and a new batch of superhumans are scheduled to arrive soon.

Okay, brass tacks. Hereโ€™s the character sheet, folks. I'm not into dossiers and the like so it's pretty straightforward.

Characterโ€™s name here. Feel free to add a distinctive color.

Character description here. You have plenty to talk about - who they are, what powers they have, what they were up to during the superhuman crisis, and so on. This can be pretty brief or extensive, itโ€™s up to you. Please specify if they are a newcomer to the island, or if theyโ€™ve been around a while. Also please keep in mind that, in terms of appearances, every prisoner is dressed in relatively the same clothes, consisting of simple articles Adelon periodically drops. So you donโ€™t have to go into detail about what they wear.
Now as for rules, itโ€™s simple enough. All powers are up to my moderation. I donโ€™t want any power replicators, power boosters, time travelers, reality benders, shadow or darkness manipulators, or anything that could constitute a threat to the whole islandโ€™s inhabitants without so much as a lift of a finger. Feel free to get creative, just not catastrophically creative. And hey, if youโ€™re more into the idea of being an Adelon or SG trooper instead of one of the prisoners, thatโ€™s cool too. Youโ€™ll have access to advanced technology instead of powers and get to show those darn supers what for.

And that's about it. You can ask me any specific questions that weren't answered up above.

Map of Arkos

Site List

Site Aber - This Site was used for Adelonโ€™s land, sea, and air vessels, as well as their unmanned aerial drones. The prisoners have turned it into a free settlement, with plenty of available shelter, but not much else.

Site Borea - Borea was the administrative office, security headquarters, and personnel housing center of Arkos. Now it stands as the largest free settlement around, with a population of around 3,000.

Site Durahe - Durahe handled Adelonโ€™s material armor development, and their kinetic shielding technology. It has been claimed by a rather unfriendly group, who donโ€™t outright attack other prisoners, but they valiantly defend their fortified castle.

Site Haeda - Site Haeda was where Arkosโ€™ crops and artificial food was grown. Now it has come under charge by a good-willed group of prisoners, primarily a few with nature-based powers, who provide free food to anyone who comes knocking on their door, and asks politely.

Site Odot - Stealth and cloaking technology were developed here, but Odot has since been claimed by a single, very territorial prisoner. It isnโ€™t a very good idea to trespass into the flesh-covered grounds. Those who have most often met their deaths.

Site Praxum - Praxum was where Adelon handled their medical and biological research during the superhuman crisis. Now, itโ€™s become home to prisoners who have been widely shunned by the rest of the island, mostly due to their appearances caused by their powers. A โ€˜freakshow in a freakshowโ€™ as one might put it.

Site Vidan - Site Vidan was Arkosโ€™ center for offensive weapons research and development. It has been claimed by a large cabal of prisoners who have banded together under one cause - โ€œfuck everyone elseโ€.

James Windsor

Age:
27

Superpower:
Tracer

James is able to obtain the historical memories or sensations of inanimate and animate objects alike by touching them. By touching an object, he gains the knowledge regarding everything about it, from its creation to who has use it and what has been done with it. By touching a living being, he learns of their life history and information they might not even know themselves. However, he merely accesses the 'history' of living beings and isn't able to use the ability to read minds or emotions.

Tracer Techniques:
Despite seemingly being a simple superpower, Tracer can be used in a multitude of ways.

 • Learning - James is able to make full use of the memories he obtains. For example, by simply touching a helicopter, James gains all the technical know-how of how to use it. Likewise with people, he can make use of their memories and mimic their abilities. However, he is only able to replicate what is physically possible for him. This means he won't able to obtain super strength or other abilities simply because he's obtained the memory.
 • Assessment - James can instantly discern the condition of an object or living being. When touching an object, say a gun, he is able to assess it's physical condition. With living beings, he can the details of their bodies. Even learning their health and identifying hidden illnesses.
 • Deduction - Tracer can only see the historical memories of an object or a living being. However, James can use such information to deduce the future. For example, he can discern a person's personality by touching them and therefore narrow down their possible actions in a future event.

@SepticGentleman It's a WIP and I have yet to put in his personality and bio. However, I wanted to see what opinions you have on his power. Is it ok? I tried to keep it balanced by having it require physical contact. This means James can't waltz into a battlefield and instantly know the abilities of all his opponents and etc. And though he'll possess the ability to be weapon proficient with anything, he lacks the supernatural edge. For example, an opposing gunsman could have supersight or kinetic acceleration which would make him more deadly than James despite them both using the same weapon.

Still, I think he can potentially be powerful but I don't really have anyone to compare him to since there are no other CS's.

I'm very interested in this, Iโ€™ll try to scrounge up a CS by the end of today. I was wondering how many powers a single character can have? Just the one, or are we allowed multiple? And if multiple powers are allowed, can they be completely different powers or do they have to be similar/related to one another?

I should have specified in the OOC, thanks for reminding me - yeah, I won't allow any Supermans. Everyone should have a focus for their power, which can branch off into other subsets as long as they stay in their respective element. Assuming a form completely made of fire and shooting tempests of flame, with a bit of levitation, that's all good. But I won't let anyone be like, the Avatar or whatever. In the end, it really depends on case-by-case judgement.

Estal Webb

Age: 19 Years Old
Gender: Female
Status: Newcomer

Personality: For someone with the ability to heal, youโ€™d have thought that sheโ€™d be the social and caring type. However, that is not the case with Estal. She cares for the select few who have earned her trust, everyone else? Fuck โ€˜em. She is not a social bunny by any means, requiring time alone in order to gather her thoughts. This has led to her becoming quite the withdrawn and private individual. She does not like people knowing her weaknesses, or her past, and takes intrusions and nosy busybodies to be a threat sheโ€™d rather avoid.

Estal is intensely loyal to those who have earned her trust and respect, and is willing to risk everything for their safety. She is thick-skinned and can very well take a beating, although her healing abilities can only go so far, as a betrayal from someone she cares about is bound to send her spiralling. Her protectiveness over her select few have proven to be a hindrance to her well-being, since she is more then ready to take someone on in a fiery explosion of blind rage. Her gutsiness in these situation may fool some to believe she actually has any fighting skills - she doesnโ€™t, but that doesnโ€™t stop her trying to defend what is hers. She is young, and thus has a lot to learn in the art of self-control.

Power: Cell Manipulation (Wound Transfer, Regeneration and Life Absorption)

Healing Others (Wound Transferral)
Estal can heal others by transferring their wounds onto herself. By doing so, she inflicts the same pain felt by the wound, any damage, either internal or external it has caused. Once the wound(s) have transferred onto her, she then begins to regenerate herself.

Limitations
- She is essentially inflicting herself with the wounds of others, so the process can be extremely painful.
- If she transfers serious wounds onto herself and doesnโ€™t have time to regenerate, she can die.
- In order to heal someone, she must be touching them throughout the healing. Her powers do not work through inanimate objects/substances (such as glass/windows) or clothing. She must have skin to skin contact in order to heal someone.
- She cannot resurrect the dead. Even if they had just recently died, unless they can be resuscitated, any attempt at healing them would fail.
- She cannot heal a wound which is embedded with a foreign object, such as an impalement, or a bullet wound with the bullet still inside. The object must come out in order for the wound to heal and transfer onto herself. This is also the case with her own injuries. If she is shot, the bullet must come out or she will not heal.
- Although her own healing is accelerated, for reasons unknown, transferred wounds take much longer to heal then injuries of her own. While injuries to herself take a matter of minutes to heal, transferred injuries take a matter of hours.
- She can only heal illnesses caused by trauma. Estal cannot heal auto-immune diseases or diseases caused by pathogens, however, she can heal any symptoms that occur that involve the bodyโ€™s tissues (for example, if a pathogen caused open sores, she would be able to heal the open sores, not the pathogen).
- For loss of limbs, if the limb is placed and connected to the open tissue, she may be able to heal it. This would involve the loss of her own limb, which would have to be placed against her in order for it to regenerate properly. She cannot grow another limb for herself, or others.
- Transferring injuries can take itโ€™s toll and cause her to fall unconscious. She needs time and rest to regenerate, especially concerning transferred wounds.
- In theory, she may be able to transfer the wounds of someone onto someone other then herself. However, she has yet to try.

Healing Herself (Regeneration)
Estal is able to heal injuries that she has acquired at a extremely accelerated rate, provided she has time in order to regenerate.

Limitations
- Healing time depends on the type of injury. Bone takes longer to heal then tissue. A sutured would heals faster then a open one. Healing time ranges from a few minutes to several hours, depending on the wound and whether it was transferred.
- Even though her healing is accelerated, she does requires time in order to heal, so any injury which is too severe, she will die from. This includes, but is not limited to, gunshots to the head, being set on fire, dismemberment, etc. So, she is by no means immortal.
- Healing herself and others is exceptionally exhausting and thus requires rest in order to regenerate properly.
- She ages normally, and cannot heal the effects of ageing.
- She feels pain as much as the average person.

Life Absorption
Just like she can use her body to heal others, she can also use others to heal herself. A power that she found accidentally, she is able to drain the energy of others in order to speed up the regeneration process. However, she now knows she doesnโ€™t have to be injured in order to use this ability. It takes around 20 seconds to drain someone to death. Those drained tend to feel weak and collapse.

Limitations
- It is extremely dangerous to even attempt. She has little control over how much energy she drains from someone and finds it nearly impossible to stop once she has started. Perhaps she may be able to control this power in the future, but for now, attempts are likely to end with fatal consequences.
- The power is temperamental and can activate unintentionally subjected to strong emotions. Once she has started, she is unable to stop.
- She can only use this ability while touching someone. The ability stops once contact is lost.
She can only absorb life from living beings, such as humans and animals.

This is what I've got so far, what do you think about her abilities? Let me now about any changes, they shall be prompt. Do I need to include a history as well, or can that be left for the IC?

How far would we be allowed to go with the technology and stuff? Specifically, cybernetic-enhancements and cyborg like things?

Well, the point is to retain a sense of humanity with the technology in the setting, so extreme Terminator-style modifications are a no-no. Advanced prosthetics are possible, but just not to the point where someone's arm can turn into a machinegun. Kinetic shields, cloaking technology, pulse rifles, RC drones, power-nullifying signal grenades, all of that is a-okay. But, like, no clouds of nanomachines or whatever.

Whatever ideas for tech you have, you can run them by me and I'll give you the go or no.
