Hellooo. So Iron Blooded Orphans is running on tv and it made me go and watch the previous seasons and now I would love to do an rp based on this concept.

Some things you should probably know:
-Someone would have to help GM as I don't know if I could do this justice alone
-I haven't watched every season. I'm actually in the middle of 00 right now.
-I haven't thought up much of anything since I'm not even sure if people on this site like the anime.
-I'll add some links if people are interested, but don't really know the series.
-It's basically giant machines fighting though.

I mean clearly the only real option to go for is to base it on G Gundam, the best Gundam. :D

...I mean you could do something else I guess and it'd probably still be fun, but... If you want to be more serious then that's fine too, I guess. I just love me some G Gundam. ^^;

@Rin Ahhh!! That's one of the ones I haven't watched yet. That and Gundam Seed are up next though.

I pretended like I was going in some sort of order.

I recommend you hit up the original. Animation might seem dated, but it holds up incredibly well, and essentially is Gundam. Everything else pretty much just follows in its footsteps.

I've watched Origin and then kind of skipped around a little. So I do know the start of everything.

@Plank Sinatra This is a tricky subject for me. I like the colonies and set up in UC, but then what about Zeon and The Federation. Would we want to include that? I don't know. But I like AD a lot as well because of the state the world is in. But then do you just do a sort of alternate storyline or after 00. That's what I have the most trouble with.

You mean a world where a group that are essentially terrorists use their mobile suits to bully the rest of the world into disarming theirs because "war is bad"? I watched the first few episodes of 00 and that was more or less what I got from it. Not gonna lie, I hate the so-called heroes of that show, as I said in an earlier statement, Celestial Being is essentially a terrorist group or at the very least a group of unlikable bullies.

Don't get me wrong, I'm interested, but if you go with AD then I can almost guarantee you I'll be playing as someone who opposes the likes of Celestial Being.

You're all boring for wanting to go for more "serious" Gundam settings. D:

Ahem. Anyways, uh... I mean other than G Gundam, I guess I'd be interested in UC stuff (since it's the most fleshed out setting, even if that brings up the problem that you can barely sneeze without bringing things into AU territory), Cosmic Era (as long as we pretend Destiny never happened) or Correct Century (since I'll admit to having a soft spot for Turn A for various reasons). That or just using Gundam in general as a starting point and making our own setting I guess. But hmmm.

But as long as this hand of mine can glow with an awesome power I will be happy.

Essentially terrorists? They are completely terrorists. However, I've always been terribly about liking the bad guys in shows and finding them more interesting then the good guys. Like Unicorn absolutely bored me with whatever his name was because he was just good with pretty much no flaw except being weak and pathetic. (I hope I didn't offend anyone sorry!)

But if we went with AD there wouldn't be any Celestial Being, it would have to be some sort of alternate idea or post that point. otherwise I think you pretty much get stuck with how the storyline goes in the show.

@Rin I think it'll probably be UC, mostly because that's the timeline I'm most used to. But as you said it'll probably get to be a bit AU so we don't follow one timeline as much as another. Sorry we aren't as fun as you. :P I just wouldn't even know how to start that one. Like I remember watching it in the past, but I only remember they fight to decide who will run everything for the next four years or something.

There's nothing wrong with liking the bad guys. Hell, Char Aznable is one of my favorite characters in the series and he was a villain in most of the stories he appeared in. The difference between Char and Celestial Being (for me, anyway) is charisma. Char just oozes with charisma, with the way he carries himself and the way he can get just about all the female characters who meet him to fall in love with him and want to fight by his side. He's like an evil James Bond and I love him for it. Celestial Being had none of that. They basically just preached about war being horrible (which of course it is) but then proceeded to use weapons of war to spread their message and basically try and act as a glorified nuclear deterrent. But they had no charisma, or personality in what they did. Setsuna (the guy we're supposed to root for as the main hero) is an emotionally stunted teenager with all the personality of a brick wall. He's like Heero Yuey if you took out all the traits that made Heero, well, a hero.

I agree with you so much on that last part. I feel like they turned to that for a lot of main characters. Although, it happens in a lot of anime I feel like. But Mikazuki (main character in Iron Blooded Orphans) is the same way. Like no personality and they just have him as some type of like weapon? But I do agree. I would have to say the whole bit about war being bad is kind of annoying. However, they're starting to fight amongst themselves at the point in the season that I'm at. So like I'm willing to wait it out and see if it gets different.

I would recommend watching Build Fighters and Build Fighters Try at some point then. None of the tired old messages about war and instead just a celebration of how awesome Gundam is as a franchise. They can get pretty cheesy at times with how serious some of the characters take their battle toys (let's be fair, Build Fighters is kind of the Yu-Gi-Oh of Gundam) but it's the gloriously awesome kind of cheesy.

I would suggest maybe doing a Build Fighters thing, but seeing what I'd try and use...

Yeah pretty sure I'd get chucked out for even suggesting that. XD

If there was ever one I was going to skip, it was probably going to be these ones. I'll give it a try though. It's not like there others haven't been cheesy. I laugh quite a lot at some probably inappropriate times because of how cheesy and over dramatized things are.

This is why I'm worried about GM-ing this rp, I feel like I don't have enough knowledge on all things Gundam to make it great.

Without spoiling it, Build Fighters revolves around people building model Gundams and then using an advanced simulation system to make them fight in battles. That picture is the result of someone making a... custom... build. The anime themselves have lots of references and easter eggs to previous shows. For one thing, characters tend to make custom builds using official models as a base. Plus actual previous anime characters can often be seen in the background or part of crowds if you pay enough attention.

@DisguisedDemonThat's... Not in Build Fighters, it's a joke kitbash someone made of the Titus from AGE and Madoka from... Madoka Magica. ^^; And it became a meme, basically. Just saying that if there was ever a Build Fighters thing that is what I would use and you cannot stop me. >:D

...Also Build Fighters is honestly worth a try. It is the series that got the Gundam franchise a lot of it's credibility back, after all.

I'll throw some tentative interest into this as well, I'm a fan of the UC conflicts, I'm also a fan of the Cosmic Era conflict- diehards don't hate me, I just like the machine designs is all >.<

@DisguisedDemon what do you think you need from a GM that you couldn't do yourself? If you need lore knowledge, all you need is to consult with your players- as you can see, a large number of your interested players have knowledge of gundam, and I doubt they'd be stingy with said knowledge if you asked.
