@Heckno12 So I got told I had too many fire types and water Pokemon could easily rip through my team... Then this happened.

@LuckyBlackCat Yeah, underestimating liligant is dangerous. Honestly, letting anything get more than one quiver dance off can be a fatal mistake. You remember Butterfree of course.

@Heckno12 Ohh yes. Though the sun team used to do better in Showdown before Toxapex and Araquanid were introduced...

I may have found a way around Araquanid, though. Oddly enough, Whimsicott. Once she gets a few Cotton Guards in to offset the type disadvantage, she can usually wear Araquanid down with Leech Seed.

Talking of Whimsicott, are those move combos I wrote the kind of thing we're going for with contests?

Since Toxapex and Araquanid arrived, I've been taking a small focus on electric-type pokemon. For some reason, I've also decided to re-live some of my childhood, and just have my pokemon have all damage-dealing attacks. No tricks, just straight-up offensive.

@LuckyBlackCat Yeah, more or less.

@OtomostheCrazy The best thing with araquanid is Z stockpile. After that the only thing it fears is being seeded and toxic. Electric types are meh for it unless you manage an OHKO. It might be good to note its special defense is much more than its physical.

@Heckno12 Hmmm, I'm wondering whether to give Lorraine either an Araquanid or a Toxapex. Is Milotic a bit too stereotypical for a coordinator? I'm not sure if that one's really Lorraine's style... From what I've said about her personality over PM, what do you think?

Her style is less about pretty displays, more about lightning storms and the like.

@LuckyBlackCat Neither of them are particularly suited for a rain team if you ask me. I mean Araquanid could do some insane damage with liquidation, but that's basically it. Toxapex plays the poison type much more efficiently because of the merciless ability.

@Heckno12 Yeah, actually, I'll keep Milotic and alter his moveset. He's pretty tanky in terms of special defense anyway.

Besides, now I think about it, I like the idea of a Milotic and a Gyarados both putting on a show. (I know Gyarados is risky to have in a rain team because of Thunder, but that's why she has the mega evo. And Earthquake.)

@LuckyBlackCat Yeah, I love Toxapex and Araquanid (as you know), but their niches are pretty defined. Politoed is an amazing addition to any rain team, hence its use in so many VGC rain teams...plus it's a hilarious Pokemon. Oh and an amazing scald user.

Talking of hilarious Pokemon, Ludicolo works pretty well in a rain team. (Rain Dish + Leech Seed) And yeah, keeping Milotic, he helped me win this battle.

@LuckyBlackCat Usually Smeargle is a good baton passer as it can get any status move and stats buff. They could have been setting up for that. Your Ludicolo have some great sustainability Does anyone on your rain team have Drizzle?

@Heckno12 No, I take it that's why you recommended Politoed. I was considering giving Gyarados Rain Dance, but she already uses Dragon Dance before attacking, that would be too much setting up.

@fer1323 @Noxx Are you waiting for each other to post again?

@LuckyBlackCat Yeah, the thing with Gyarados being a rain dancer is the fact that it's your mega so it can't hold a damp rock. It also helps that it doesn't take a move slot to get that rain out there. I'd say give it a whirl if you've got any weak links in the team. I'd also say Pelipper since it got drizzle in this generation (and it can learn stockpile).

@Heckno12 Maybe I should give Raichu a Damp Rock (Rain Dance + Volt Switch to a Water type).

Though this team's doing pretty well in Showdown. It's Solanna's team that's struggling now, and that one used to win 4 out of 5 battles before the new Pokemon were introduced. I'm considering giving these girls Z-crystals, seeing as Solanna and Lorraine were once competitive battlers.

Hailey was never all that much into the competitive fighting side of things, but can still hold her own, she has no megas but should she have a Z-crystal?
