Talking to characters who've already said something else to someone else or moved on entirely but placed before they did that... eh, from a story-writing perspective it's just troublesome? Because it paints one character as rude one way or the other. In conversations with multiple people, I'll end up assuming that someone's not able to find an opening in that brief period rather than saying something that's being totally ignored. Though it's just plain awkward if something someone writes (IC) afterwards would have prevented some course of action* and starts making people look stupid.
I just find it neater and more convenient to only go in detail on what's occurring in the scene rather than backing through hundreds of words. Easier to read, too.
*Not to say that that's happening right here.
Ah--I'm sorry I didn't mention, but the reason I mentioned it is because, when things are progressing slowly, it seems likely to accidentally cause more issues if there's a lot of complicated posts that make things more difficult to respond to. ^^;
