"Thank you Lord Honedge. It is an honor." Amelia said, bowing to the Royal Sword pokemon once again. Leaving the boy to Aegislash and Jonas, trusting Aegislash as this point and knew it was an honorable pokemon. Though, she could understand it being upset that one of it's enemies was still in it's home. Anyone would be angry at any intruder they did not welcome.
Now, with the tomb finally at peace and with no need to worry about being attacked by it's residents, she could go about making more friends and companions for her journey. But there was a part of her that was scared. She knew you were only allowed to carry six pokemon, and deep down, she hoped that only applied for battle. She wanted to keep all of her pokemon that she captured on her so she could be with all of them while she was relaxing. She didn't want to make a decision on who to keep with her and who not to. It would be far too difficult for her.
But for now, she had to focus on making her new friends first. Figuring that doing it one at a time would be best, she decided to go with the Yamasks who had followed her after giving her the Relic Gold. Standing up straight, she turned to look at them and gave them a kind smile. "So, I get to take one of you with me outside of the tomb. Would either of you have any objections to joining me?" She asked them.
Claire started out with a decent win and ended up at around 350 coins! Then she got into a losing streak down to 275 coins… Minor win! 325 coins! A bit of a losing streak, went all the way back down to 250 coins… SAME decent win, after a Mime Jr came up on the digital screen and stopped the last bar for her! 350 coins! HORRIFIC losing streak, down to 185 coins. A series of minor wins that all led up to around 280 coins! A decent win going up to 380 coins! A bad losing streak down to 260 coins. Somewhat of a win up to 290 coins. Major win to 350 coins! Small pieces of losing and winning back and forth that slowly edged her up to 380 coins again… Sudden terrible losing streak, down to 250 coins. Major win when a Drilbur came up and rotated the first bar from a loss into a win! 350 coins!
… This went on for an hour, going up and down. Claire managed to get up to 380 coins again before leaving.
She went over to the roulettes!
As the ball rolled and an Alakazam watched the wheel… Claire found herself on a bit of a losing streak. She lost five straight times, all the way down to 130 coins. So, then, she decided to play one more time, max bet of 50 coins… and freakin’ won! Suddenly 430 coins! As she started to win, she kept playing. … And then she won again!? 730 coins. She lost once after, 680 coins… Then she won again to 980 coins. Yikes. People and Pokémon at the table are now staring at her with envy and suspicion. She lost thrice down to 830 coins… Then won. 1130 coins. Claire departed the table with people glaring at her back.
As her winnings are closest to 900, Claire is apparently skipping the cards.
So… Claire approached the queen herself. Valerie, the queen of contests and casinos, apparently. She was sitting at the Dodrio races, where the Dodrio she bet on won yet again.
She took out a whole bunch of coins, because of course she had bet on a mildly low-odds one, and then turned and gave over half of it to the Lopunny next to her.
‘Spread these among the riders of the Dodrios. Congratulate the Dodrios on a job well done,’ Valerie told with a little smile, and the Lopunny bowed gratefully.
‘Togepi!’ called the little Pokémon on top of Valerie’s table…
Pokédex Entry #175 – Togepi, the Spike Ball Pokémon. As its energy, it uses the positive emotions of compassion and pleasure exuded by people and Pokémon. This Pokémon stores up feelings of happiness inside its shell, then shares them with others. Considered a symbol of good luck, it is said that individuals who treat it kindly will become lucky.
He’s holding an Everstone…
In the beginning, Claire walked up to Valerie. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move. Completely ignoring those infuriated glances by Valerie’s fans who kept themselves on a respectable distance, Claire got the woman’s attention as she got closer.
‘… Oh? And who might you be?’ Valerie asked, tilting her head and looking up at Claire, since Valerie herself was seated. Togepi looked up at Claire curiously.
‘Did you come to challenge me? Hm… Well, then,’ Valerie turned and faced to Dodrios. ‘Let’s say it like this, then. We’ll bet on the Dodrio Races five times, and the one who won the most coins win,’ Valerie suggested.
Pokédex Entry #85 – Dodrio, the Triple Bird Pokémon. It uses three brains to execute complex plans. It has three hearts, three sets of lungs but only one stomach. The three heads are no longer identical, representing joy, sorrow and anger each, occasionally squabbling with different opinions. They’re largely aggressive and should be approached with caution for pecks.
‘Of course, that isn’t entirely fair, I know these Dodrios and you don’t, but… we can make that up for in coin prices. If I win, you pay me 1,000 coins. If you win…’ Valerie gave Claire a little smile. ‘10,000 coins. Sounds good?’
‘Toge!’
If Claire accepted, the following five were the Dodrios.
Zodiac. Looks pretty strong. The heads occasionally quarrel, but they have a good track record when cooperating. Decently good driver, too. Decent odds of winning.
Biscuit. A nasty but average Dodrio with a tendency to mess up other riders with pecks and tripping. Pretty rarely wins themselves because the heads squabble, but can mess up the others, throwing wrenches into the odds.
Grassball. A shiny Dodrio! … Has a pretty terrible record. Often trips and looks exhausted already. Though, like, if you do bet on her and she wins…?
Empress. The constant favorite. Rid by a pro, bred by a pro. All three heads in sync. Wins the most, gives the lowest reward when she does.
Lucky. Supremely average, usually loses to both Zodiac and Empress, but occasionally she outperforms them all. Valerie just won betting on her…
Erza switched up his team and went on to challenge Route 11 for a couple levels.
Thing is, he's fighting trainers.
And trainers aren't as willing to just grind against as wild Pokémon.
Beat these, and earn a bunch of levels in return, assuming Erza uses all the Pokémon he wishes to train.
‘Hey, how come all Pokémon lay eggs, and not just the birds? Why do I even think that’s odd? Arrgh, I’m frustrated, and I’m taking it out on you!’
Bird Keeper Carl wants to battle!
Pokédex Entry #21 – Spearow, the Tiny Bird Pokémon. It eats bugs in grassy areas. It cannot fly very high, but uses its wings to blow insects out of grass for easy pickings. It’s very territorial, and its reckless nature means it will stand up to even far tougher opponents to defend its claim. It has a loud cry it uses to warn other of its kind of danger.
Knows Peck, Growl, Leed and Fury Attack. Will mostly do Fury Attack. Keen Eye ensures accuracy.
Pokédex Entry #276 – Taillow, the Tiny Swallow Pokémon. Many Taillows are young, just leaving the nest, and may cry in loneliness at night. It feeds off bugs and crops in forests and plains. It’s a very gutsy Pokémon, known to bravely take on tough foes. It likes warmer climates and will migrate during cold seasons.
Knows Peck, Growl, Focus Energy, Quick Attack. Will Peck mostly. Guts ups attack if under a status condition.
Pokédex Entry #580 – Ducklett, the Water Bird Pokémon. These birds are far better swimmers than they are flyers, and make excellent divers. When attacked, it defends itself by splashing water at the offender. Their favorite food is peat moss, and they’ll be found chewing on it constantly.
Knows Water Gun, Water Sport, Defog and Wing Attack. Will do Wing Attack unless Water Gun is super-effective / Wing Attack is not-very. Big Pecks makes it unable to lose Attack power.
Should Ducklett fall, it’ll be pretty clear on Carl’s expression he has no confident in this last Pokémon of his.
Pokédex Entry #41 – Zubat, the Bat Pokémon. It lives in colonies in dark places. It has no eyes, but when flying it is constantly emitting ultrasonic sounds which it uses to navigate through echolocation. As sunlight burns it, it’s usually only found in caves or at night.
Knows Leech Life, Astonish and Supersonic. Will Supersonic at all costs, then heal with Leech Life if it can. Inner Focus prevents flinching.
‘I just caught some Pokémon from Route 12 and I’m training them! You’ll be perfect to get my new team some experience~!’
Lass Ulrika wants to battle!
Pokédex Entry #37 – Vulpix, the Fox Pokémon. Inside a Vulpix's body burns a fire that never goes out. It commonly inhabits grassy fields, and will feign injury to escape a stronger opponent. When born, a Vulpix has only one snow-white tail, but with age and care it splits into more, warmer tails.
Knows Ember, Tail Whip, Roar and Baby-Doll Eyes. Will just Ember for all she got. Flash Fire powers Vulpix up if hit by a fire move.
Pokédex Entry #179 – Mareep, the Wool Pokémon. It rubs together its coat of wool to generate static electricity that is stored in its fleece, which can more than double in size with enough electricity. This is how it keeps warm, so it discharges the electricity come summer when it’s not needed. The bulb on its tail grows more brightly the more electricity is stored.
Knows Tackle, Growl, Thunder Wave, Thunder Shock. Will Thunder Wave then Shock! Static will paralyze upon contact!
Pokédex Entry #133 – Eevee, the Evolution Pokémon. It’s a very rare Pokémon known to have a very unstable genetic makeup. Depending on where it lives, it is known to use evolution into different forms as means to survive harsher climates. It has eight currently known evolutions.
Knows Helping Hand, Tackle, Growl, Tail Whip, Sand Attack, Baby-doll Eyes and Swift. Will Tail Whip then Tackle! Adaptatability powers it up!
‘Getting the hang of Route 11 yet? Feeling like you’re at home here? Well, let me test that confidence!’
Camper Gideon wants to battle!
Pokédex Entry #433 – Chingling, the Bell Pokémon. An orb in the back of its throat chimes each time it jumps, making a ringing sound. When endangered it defends itself by emitting deafening high-frequency cries. When it starts crying, it’s hard to make it stop.
Knows Wrap, Growl, Astonish, Confusion. Confusion will do. Levitate makes it immune to Ground-type moves!
Pokédex Entry #522 – Blitzle, the Electrified Pokémon. Its mane shines when it discharges electricity. They use the frequency and rhythm of these flashes to communicate. They gather where storm-clouds go, catching the lightning strikes with their horns like lightning rods in order to charge themselves.
Knows Quick Attack, Tail Whip, Charge, Shock Wave. Will attempt to Quick Attack to stay at a range then Shock Wave at that range. Thunder Rod draws in electrical moves, other than its own!
Pokédex Entry #557 – Dwebble, the Rock Inn Pokémon. It finds a rock of suitable size. It melts a hole in said rock using a liquid secreted from its mouth, then crawls in and lives in it. A rock-less Dwebble is known to be aggressive until a replacement is found, so be careful should the rock break.
Knows Fury Cutter, Rock Blast, Withdraw and Sand Attack. Rock Blast is its go-to move. Sturdy ensures no single move can take it out!
‘Diglett!’ Diglett (♀) happily responded to the only question she could possibly answer with her extensive vocabulary. Then, ‘Diglett!’ she called equally excitedly in response to have built this whole tunnel. Though, any Pokémon Eryn had along could translate Diglett’s happy cry as “No, I didn’t!”
Then when Onix appeared, Diglett’s next cry was “He did!”
Onix (♂) stared silently at the Eryns as Eryn did her explaining. His alert expression faltered a bit, and then gave a mild, mouldering growl at them, before turning around and pulling its massive body through another tunnel.
‘Diglett!’ Diglett happily called, and started following after. The Pokémon around Eryn could translate that into “He wants us to follow him!”
There was a long walk through long, dark tunnels. Dei’s fire was the only thing brightening up the area around, but the Pokémon around here seemed used to it. Diglett here proved to not be the only Diglett living in these tunnels, in fact when Eryn looked around she often saw droves of the little eyes staring at them as they followed Onix, who was intentionally going slow so that they could keep up.
Looks like there were the occasional gems here, but the area around here had been stripped bare of them and those she could see were being held by various Digletts. Then there was the fact that off in the distance in the darkness, it was as if she could see two gemstones. But it was odd, because they were floating perfectly aligned, almost like they were eyes-
A roar echoed through the cavern as a huge rock that Onix had grabbed and thrown with Rock Throw flew right past Eryn, and the two gemstone eyes suddenly spun and fled with a cackling laughter, off into the darkness…
♀
Pokédex Entry #302 – Sableye, the Darkness Pokémon. They live quiet lives in dark caves where they dig for their favorite food, raw gems. These gems surface on their eyes as glittering jewels. They tend to be feared, for it is said that those who meet with these glittering eyes in a dark cave have their spirits stolen away.
Onix glared into the darkness some more, and then turned to lead the way again, Diglett seeming as happy as before.
Assuming Eryn hadn’t taken a break there to hunt after the Sableye, they kept walking these rough caverns that had been mostly stripped of valuable jewels already towards the end, avoiding too steep paths and Onix digging some new ones just for Eryn to be able to walk. Then, finally, he was digging through a wall… and then something said crack. Onix slowly pulled back his giant head, and sunlight shone down from around him. The giant rock snake looked back at Eryn while presenting a new exit from the Wet Caverns that previously had not existed, for her to use if she so wished.
‘Diglett!’ Diglett happily called out, for who knows what number of time.
Trace copied Barboach's Anticipation! Jonathan shuddered!
Anyways, Skylar called in Paradise, while JoJo was already in place. JoJo shot Barboach with a Disarming Voice through the smoke, staggering the fish but not stopping it.
‘You…! Koffing, smog the fairy! Barboach, grab that Torchic!’ Guy commanded, annoyed at being attacked.
‘KOFFIIIING!’ Koffing called again, bursting out a cloud of purple smoke at JoJo. Meanwhile, Barboach did manage to sneak into the henhouse and managed to come out with its tail tied around the leg of a Torchic it intended to escape with… but then Paradise was there.
‘Barboach, dodge!’ Guy called when Paradise unleashed her Razor Leaves.
‘Barboach?’ the fish asked, then got utterly peppered with razor-sharp leaves. Critical Hit! Super Effective! Barboach utterly fainted by x8 damage!
‘Seriously? Fine, then I'll do it myself!’ Guy called, dashing forward into the smoke to pick up the Torchic Barboach had pulled out… ‘WAHK!’ only to suddenly be launched back out of the smoke and onto his back, Barboach also sent flying past him for good measure. The smoke cleared, and there stood mama Combusken, one leg raised after the kick and glaring daggers after the Amethyst grunt, Torchic safe and confused behind her. Maybe, just maybe, the Torchics were not really in as much danger as the farmer had made it seem like.
‘D-darn… Koffing, retreat!’ Guy called, returning Barboach to a Pokéball and running off, Koffing hurriedly floating after.
Skylar was victorious! Skylar earned 374P for winning.
There, Skylar had successfully repelled the invader, and pretty quickly, too! Good thing, that, because Celebrity on her own would not have been able to efficiently hold back the Murkrows that were doing nasty tactics like diversions and such.
The time which Skylar needed to protect the ranch for was reaching the end. Fortunately enough, all he now had to deal with was-
A great, majestic lion-like figure stood in the midst of the Mareep pen. To Seabreeze, who’d been watching that area, the figure had just fallen down from a vast leap to land on top of one of the sheep Pokémon with a gracefully silent landing, now staring off into the sky. He slowly turned to look in the direction of Skylar, silently staring at the young trainer that had just repelled the Amethyst member…

Pokédex Entry #244 – Entei, the Volcano Pokémon. A Legendary Pokémon. Said to be born in the eruption of a volcano. It embodies the fiery passion of magma. Due to being barely able to hold back its extreme power, it constantly dashes headlong around the land. It is said that when it roars, a volcano somewhere in the world erupts. One used to dash the Pureplain plains, but it's rarely sighted since Pureplain City grew to overtake the plains.
… Though, there it was. Staring straight at Skylar and the group on the east, while standing in the middle of a field of panicking Mareeps, one of the sheep held down under his right paw. He might also throw a glance at Seabreeze if he flies too close.
Yeah, for the moment, Entei just stands there, looking at Skylar.
‘… Haaaa!?’ Jenelle looked at Erika in disbelief, adjusting her sunglasses as she watched Erika’s defiance. She frowned, and regained her edge. ‘Well, that does it, doesn’t it!? I’ll teach you what happens when you come between Amethyst and the will of their clients!’
Team Amethyst Grunt Jenelle wants to battle now!
Pokédex Entry #515 – Panpour, the Spray Pokémon. It stores water in the tuft on its head and fires it from its tail. It likes watering plants. When in the tuft the water becomes extremely nutritious, any plant watered is sure to grow large. It does not like dry environments and will dampen itself using its own water if it grows too dry.
Knows Scratch, Play Nice, Leer, Lick and Water Gun. Gibs resists Water Gun, so Scratch! Water Gun otherwise? It’s holding a Sitrus Berry which’ll heal 25% of its health! Gluttony makes it eat its berry earlier!
Pokédex Entry #513 – Pansear, the High Temp Pokémon. It lives in caves in volcanos. It has been noted to be very intelligent, using the tuft on its head to cook food for people and Pokémon. It generally likes to help people. Its temperature increases when angered, the tuft on its head can reach 600 degrees fahrenheit.
Knows Scratch, Play Nice, Leer, Lick and Incinerate. Gibs resists Incinerate, so Scratch! Incinerate otherwise? It’s holding a Sitrus Berry which’ll heal 25% of its health! Gluttony makes it eat its berry earlier!
Pokédex Entry #511 – Pansage, the Grass Monkey Pokémon. It lives deep inside forests. Eating a leaf from its head is known to whisk away weariness and relieve stress, and it’s happy to share. Any weary-looking Pokémon or human can count to be given one. It’s really good at searching for berries and other edible substances.
Knows Scratch, Play Nice, Leer, Lick and Vine Whip. Gibs resists Vine Whip, so Scratch! Vine Whip otherwise? It’s holding a Sitrus Berry which’ll heal 25% of its health! Gluttony makes it eat its berry earlier!
Farfetch’d is looking on the battle from behind Erika.
A rocky desert stretches out behind Raremine Town. Route 7 is located in somewhat of a basin, surrounded by giant cliffs that cause all the clouds to empty themselves of water before passing this single area, causing the single most potent desert of Isson, the sun eternally glaring down with heat echoing from the sand beneath. While this desert contains a lot more rocks than a regular vast desert does due to the cliffs sometimes falling down into it and the boulders rolling about, there is somewhat of an influx of air soaring down into the valley, regularly blowing sand up into the skies. Sandstorms are a semi-regular occurrence on Route 7, and one in particular is always covering up the path that is said to lead to the Mystic Oasis, which can only be reliably found through the assistance of a Vivillon, which was found out a while ago by the citizens of Raremine Town. Still, the path to the Desert Mines is usually clear and populated by miners walking back and forth, and those fortunate can pass all the way to the Old Tombs without any issues…
Yet those crossing the desert do need to keep their wits about, for sandstorms are not the only things that might potentially lie in wait in the sands. Here and there, there’s the swirl of creatures on the hunt swims through the sand, looking for prey…
Pokédex Entry #551 – Sandile, the Desert Croc Pokémon. They live hidden in hot desert sands to keep their body temperature from dropping. It’s capable of submerging itself and swimming in sand, only its nose and eyes sticking up occasionally. Due to not being confident in hunting, it usually goes after things that have collapsed in the desert.
Every once in a while stands a green plant emitting a strong aroma, alluring prey to walk close. It wouldn’t take a long time to find one, their green stands out in this environment.
Pokédex Entry #331 – Cacnea, the Cactus Pokémon. It lives in arid environments such as deserts. It can survive for 30 days without additional intake of water. It lures prey in with a strong aroma, before shooting its prey full of thorns or slamming them down with its thorny arms. Once a year, a yellow flower blooms on it, the more beautiful the more arid the conditions.
And occasionally there are little red balls that are supposedly Pokémon that are either running about like their butts are on fire or remain so still standing on the desert that one would think they’re asleep, which they are, they’re just standing up anyways.
Pokédex Entry #554 – Darumaka, the Zen Charm Pokémon. When its internal fire burns, it cannot calm down and has to run around. When the fire diminishes, it falls asleep and pulls its limbs into its body to form a state where it will always right itself no matter how it is pushed or pulled. Because the droppings of a Darumaka never cools down, they can be used to heat clothes by those who doesn’t consider that disgusting.
Anyways. Dawkin started training, which went excellently for Wooper, all these Ground and Fire types about.
While training he saw these little yellow critters sometimes surfacing here and there in the desert. Given they’re pretty recognizable Pokémon, Dawkin could identify them. And if he couldn’t, the Pokédex could.
Pokédex Entry #27 – Sandshrew, the Mouse Pokémon. It lives in arid regions burrowing deep underground. It emerges only to hunt for food, which it catches by lounging out of their burrows. If threatened, it curls into a protective ball and bounces off from enemy attacks. If it gets cold at night, its body will coat itself with a fine dew.
And then, also, here and there in the desert there was something alike small, centralized sandstorms that blew around spherical areas. Peering inside these sandstorms revealed the source, small herds of sand hippos walking about inside.
Pokédex Entry #449 – Hippopotas, the Hippo Pokémon. It lives in arid places. Instead of perspiration, it expels grainy sand from its body. It shrouds itself in this sand to ward of germs and enemies. It can walk through sand as easily as on ground, though has to shut its nostrils when doing so. They form colonies of around ten.
Anyways, training!
Wooper did well enough, assuming she avoided Cacneas. Lots of Ground-type Pokémon that she could Water Gun on a distance and then Water Gun again before they got too close. Problem was, she didn’t resist the ground-type, and most Pokémon here used Normal-type attacks anyway. But, she got a decent amount of training in.
Cacnea as well, though Absorb was weaker than Water Gun and didn’t take out the enemy as efficiently. It did heal her in return, however, and considering Wooper could heal her anyway by just Water Gunning her, Cacnea was able to get one excellent amount of training, assuming she avoided Darumakas.
Wooper grew to level 13!
Cacnea grew to level 14! Cacnea learned Sand Attack!
… And here’s a level for the rest, too, just because.
Atlas grew to level 13! Atlas learned Rock Tomb! Pichu grew to level 10! Pichu learned Sweet Kiss! Tyrunt grew to level 6! Tyrunt learned Roar!
So, what’ll Dawkin do now?
Current Condition; Clear - Because I’m not about to drop a sandstorm on you after what you just went through. The usual sandstorm blows over the path to the Mystic Oasis, though.
1. Find Pokémon. Can be specified what kind of Pokémon is being searched for, and how you search. 2. Train Pokémon. With this command, we can jump ahead in time and skip posting about grinding. 3. Seek trainers. There are miners and the occasional archaeologist around here to potentially seek out. 4. Talk. They can also just be chatted to! 5. Move along. Move along normally, letting any events that may come happen naturally. 6. Hurry along. Intentionally avoid confrontations and try to get safely to the next destination. 7. Specify. If you specify what you want to do, the GM will take it into account and tell the result. 8. Trigger random event. Force the GM to use his imagination to make a scenario for you. 9. Area Specific; Delve into the Sandstorm. If you think you’re prepared! 10. Area Specific; Search the sands. There may be ancient items submerged in the sands around.
Connected areas: Raremine Town. A town of miners and research, on the tip between the plains and the desert. Desert Mines. What Raremine Town stands here for! These mountains are filled with dough! Old Tombs. Across the desert, an old and chilling place awaits those who wants to visit… Mystic Oasis. Somewhere within that sandstorm, that is.
‘As has it been mine, you who came to the aid of my master,’ Aegislash’s controlled boy said, giving a bow in return. As Amelia moved on, she may or may not have noted Darcie and her father went to talk to Aegislash. Jonas was still waiting on a bit of a distance. Anyways, moving on, now!
The Yamasks she looked to gave each other a look, the Pokémon looking at one another for a bit of time, then in some way came to a unified agreement and one of them floated forward.
‘Yamask!’ the Yamask called to her, approvingly.
Amelia obtained Yamask!
Gender: ♀ Type: Ghost Personality: (Up to player.) Quirks/Talents/Aspirations/Other: (Up to player.) Level: 6 Moves: Astonish, Protect, Disable Ability: Mummy. Upon contact, overwrites the opponent’s ability with this one. Held Item: Spell Tag
New Pokémon caught! Amelia earned 1250 P!
Would you like to give a nickname to Yamask?
So, that was one down. It should be noted, however, that this was her sixth Pokémon, and if she put Yamask into a Pokéball the Pokédex definitely showed her party as full. Assuming she hasn’t been going around with any of her Pokémon as wild just floating about her.

Erza's got a new opponent: A birdkeeper that was frustrated that all pokémon laid eggs and not just the birds. Really? Well, the motives behind his frustration mattered not to Erza, the boy was ready as ever. Since Vee was already out, that was his first choice, which was matched against the trainer's Spearow.
For this match, Erza's tactics is pretty straight forward. Baby-Doll Eyes immediately, lowering the Spearow's Physical Damage. Right after, Swift and then tackles to finish up the match, should things go particularly well in Erza's favor.
Knowing that his opponent is likely to use flying types, Erza now switches Vee and sends in Mareep. She should be able to handle the rest of the team particularly well with Thundershocks.
... Depending on the damage Vee and Mareep took, Erza will nurse them back to health with potions.
It didn't take long for Erza to pick a second battle. Once the trainer explained that she wanted to train her team, which made him giggle heartily as he replied:
"Guess we're the same spot, then! Come on!"
Here, Erza leads with Princess. There is no thought process behind Erza's tactics: Simply gust and tackle to wear down the Vulpix. If that works out, the trainer will probably send Mareep. Erza retreats Pidgey and sends Budew... Which is probably not high-level enough, so it was thrown out just to absorb exp and then get switched to Vulpix. Drought+Embers should be able to handle Mareep - in the case it does not, Vulpix will be exchanged for Poochyena to finish up the Mareep. The last pokémon is Eevee - which made Erza raise an eyebrow. Hopefully that wasn't the Eevee he was hoping to catch... Anywho, heh.
"Vee, it's your turn!" And then, another Eevee against Eevee match. Erza will start with Baby-Doll Eyes and proceed to tackle down the other Eevee. IF the trainer uses baby-doll eyes as well (or even sand-attack), Erza switches to Swift. Hopefully that works out - if things aren't working particularly well, Erza will once again bring out Poochyena to finish the job.
Yet another battle against a particularly confident Route 011 trainer. Notably, Erza healed up the members with the lowest health with his remaining potions before this - the opponent leads with Chingling and Erza leads with Budew, who gets instantly switched out for Poochyena. who - guess what? Is immune to confusion. Bite this little bell into oblivion, oh mighty-future-mightyena!
Blitzle comes out, then. That gave Erza dark memories of a particularly difficult to catch Blitzle- a difficult pokémon to deal with. Erza will bring out Vulpix here, so it can baby-doll-eyes to lower the Blitzle's quick attack damage, then use the empowered by sun ember to finish it, hopefully.
Lastly, a dwebble. Now, Erza has nothing to deal with this effectively. Hoping the drought's harsh sun is still up, Erza brings out......... Budew! And uses Growth. If the Budew doesn't go down in this turn, a sharply raised absorb might grab it some health. Then Erza switches to Poochyena so, once again, the dark-type can be used to finish weakened pokémon. Phew. That should be about it.

Mac the Torchic (♂) Level 2 Scratch and Growl Blaze No Item Current Condition - Ready to Receive!
Alright! Skylar's team emerged victorious after quite the display from Paradise and JoJo, though the latter was currently acting a little Confused. After a quick shudder, JoJo had Teleported out of the way of the Smog that was incoming from that Koffing, but had exited Teleport with a bit of a dizzy head. Guess that's why he didn't teleport down from the roof of Silent Shrine.
JoJo climbed onto Paradise's back before Paradise nuzzled the little dude. He wasn't going to try and do much while he was confused, which was very likely for the best. Skylar patted the Ralts on the back. "Good work, buddy. Take a bit to rest and go help Paradise watch out for any... whoa!"
There it stood. Entei.
Everyone kind of stopped to ogle at the Legendary Pokemon. Skylar's Pokedex was pulled out to get a scan of the mighty beast, but when it didn't have a recorded picture in the dex, Skylar nodded solemly and took it upon himself to snap a photo of it looking at him. Seabreeze was staring at it from above, but figured it could go just back to it's other job of watching the Vulpix and helping with the birds because what in Ho-oh's name would try to steal a sheep from that and while that's around. (Though if anything did, Seabreeze would certainly spray them with water, save for actually spraying Entei.)
Everyone around could feel the power the beast was exerting. Skylar could hardly see it but he knew from the blurry mess of colors and heat that it was indeed Entei. One of the three legendary beasts that he learned about growing up, listening to bedtime stories about Ho-oh's legend. He was shaking in his boots, and Mac could certainly feel that, too.
Paradise looked down at Skylar, who glanced up at Paradise. He smiled at her before stepping slowly forward towards the Volcano Pokemon. His hands weren't up in the air, though the beast could certainly see that he didn't have a single Pokeball in his hands. Skylar wouldn't want to catch this beast, anyway. It's power just seemed so... so much for him to even bare witness to, let alone possess.
Though, maybe he could...
As Skylar got close, if the Entei didn't leave, Skylar was going to attempt to pet it softly on the mane. Keyword, attempt. If Entei was going to attack him or anything, Skylar would back away, but if it let Skylar pet it, then by all means he was going to.
"Entei... a-are the legends about you and Ho-oh true for Isson as well as Johto?" Skylar asked it.
(If Entei left quickly after a response, or left anytime before, everyone would get back to work until the Farmer came back. Entei can have the Mareep for all I care, because HOLY FRICK WHAT WOULD TELL AN ENTEI NO.)
Relishing in the victory. Kinda ogling at Entei. - Same. - Yeah. - Definitely. - Wha? - Yupp. Defending from anything that approaches Entei, and going to mainly focus on the foxes and birds since what in Ho-oh's name is gonna approach Entei aside from Suicune or Ho-oh itself or something. Taking a picture of the Entei for the 'dex before calmly approaching it, only with Mac in his hands because Mac is smol. Taking Mac in one arm, and reaching out with the other to pet Entei (if it lets Skylar). - if it does leave, Skylar and Co. are going back to finish the work. It's settling down, but until that farmer gets back Skylar's gonna finish the job.
Amelia smiled, happy to see that one of the Yamasks was more then willing to join her on her journey around Isson. She once again reached out and rubbed it's head before turning around. She didn't want to capture it yet. She wanted to give each of the three she was going to capture and equal chance of joining her current team before capturing them. With the Yamask confirmed, Amelia went and got the Golett and Honedge that Aegislash had pointed out to her before speaking to all three of them now. "It's a pleasure to meet all three of you. My name is Amelia and I'm a trainer. Lord Aegislash has allowed me to take you all out of the tomb and with me on my journey. However, I will only take you with me if you are willing to join me. I will not force you from your home for my own selfishness. And also, even if all three of you join me, you will not be able to join me right away. Two of you will be sent to someone else. However, I will make it my goal to find them and try and make it so that you can join me and my other partners, even if I cannot use you at the time. Because I want us to be like a big group of friends, if not like a family. So, if you're willing to join me, please let me know. And if you all do decide to come, let us discuss which of you will be journeying with me first." Amelia said.
Wet Caverns || Day 3: Late Morning Eryn followed the Onix along as it dug, watching in amazement as it repelled the wild Sableye with ease. Having pulled out her Pokedex to identify the wild ghost-type through the darkness, Eryn noted the genders of her wild companions, wondering whether Onix could see in the dark. Since they often lived in caves, that made sense, but who was to say they didn’t navigate by touch rather than sight? Her Pokedex noted that there was a magnet in the Onix’s brain, but that only helped with directionality, not sight, so perhaps Onix, Diglett, and all of the other burrowing Pokemon had evolved ways to make up for the darkness.
On the subject of seeing in the dark, Eryn realized that she had a dark-type in her team, and she turned around to look at Eri. For now, she’d had the Zorua disguise himself as a human, so it wouldn’t do to ask whether he could see in the dark. As such, Eryn shelved the thought for later and continued, admiring the Onix as she walked. While she could think of many reasons why she wanted the rock-type on her team, she could also see the reasons the Onix may have against his capture. For one, this was his territory—the tunnels where other wilds like Diglett lived, protected by the Onix’s strength. If she removed the Onix, there would be no one to protect his domain from the Zubat and Gravelers.
Eryn stared at the Onix as it dug through the wall and into the sun, this time wondering whether there were other Onix in these tunnels. With her time running out, having been provided with an exit by her unlikely help, she had to decide whether asking was worth the Onix’s ire. Having an Onix as a friend was pretty sweet, and—depending on how generous he was feeling—she could ask for his help should she return and go adventuring in the cavern. On the other hand, though, she really did want an Onix, so in a way there was no decision to be made.
“Thanks for the exit, Onix. I’d honestly still be wandering in there without you. But, before I leave, is there any chance you or another Onix you know would be up for an adventure with a trainer?”
Eryn smiled sheepishly. “Now, I know you might be busy protecting your tunnel, with the number of different Pokemon living in it, but I’m a trainer and my trainer senses say an Onix would be pretty awesome to train. I’m not specifically asking you to come with me but… I’d be pretty happy about it if it were you in particular.”
She shifted Dei in her arms, aware that both he and Eri were now watching intently, each for different reasons, but she pushed on. “That said, I’d understand if you refused. I wanna say I’d be open to proving myself, but my Pokemon are a little weak as-is. If you would prefer me to prove it through combat, well, I’ll be back in a day or so to take you on.”
Meeting the Onix’s eyes with determination, Eryn waited for him to respond.
Having gotten her answer, she nodded, grinning. “Alright. That’s fair. Either way, thank you for everything, and thank you too, Diglett. Keep being adorable, and watch this Onix for me, would you? I’m gonna come back in a day or two and show him that he should have just agreed.”
Then, with a final wave and a casual remark to Eri to note the Diglett and Onix’s forms—because who knew the limits to his shapeshifting powers—Eryn put Dei down and set off out the makeshift exit and towards what was assumably Lakewatch Town, intending to make a beeline for the Pokemon Center. After all, Tula wasn't going to heal herself, and she missed holding her cutest Pokemon.
Actions: Followed the Onix to the exit he made then (after wondering whether Zorua can see in the dark) proceeded to proposition the Onix about joining her team. If he didn’t, either wanting her to prove herself or just flat-out denying her, Eryn would try and move onto Lakewatch Town and heal her Pokemon, chatting up a few locals while she's at it. If he did agree to lead her somewhere (or agree to join her team, but I don’t think he would haha) Eryn would of course follow.
Considering what she had heard, Erika didn’t like the sound of whatever this Amethyst was. Who or what they were was a bit perplexing but now wasn’t the time to think about that. There was a battle and Erika had to focus, if not for her sake, then for her team’s and Farfetch’d.
”Gibs. You’re up.” Erika commanded with a focused tone. She was in the zone and had come up with just the strategy that may win her the battle soundly. First, Gibs would use sandstorm to keep his Sand Veil up, allowing him to be extra evasive. Next, he would be kept at a distance using sand-attack a few times, say like twice, to avoid the range of his opponent’s scratch and to further lower accuracy. Finally, after a few turns of being buffeted by sand, the opponent should be weak enough to be KO’d by Dragon Rage.
Erika is planning on Gibs sweep all three. If he were to faint or if Jenelle does something drastic then let me know.

If Claire noticed the angry stares, she ignored them. Confidently strutting up to Valarie, she seemed to immediately know what she was there for. She immediately made the offer of a bet, one of which Claire was somewhat hesitant to take. She didn't even have 1,000 coins right now, and if she bet on the races and lost big time, then she wasn't even going to have that many. She could buy the final 100 she needed for the thousand, but...
"Ahaha, you're on!" Claire accepted the challenge. "I'm feeling super lucky today, so why not." Claire reached down, patting the small togepi on the head. Ralia teleported off her shoulder and positioned herself next to it. The ralts was 100% sure this was a terrible idea, but she'd let her trainer do whatever.
"...okay, let's see..." Who to bet on though? She wasn't silly enough to try betting on Grassball. Lucky seemed to be the best choice - decent odds of making a good bit of money without risking it all. Zodiac was a good one, too, and Empress was a safe bet.
Hm.
"Alright, lets try this." Making her decision, Claire made her first bet 100 coins on Biscuit.
Vee VS Spearow. Spearow is what you might call a Glass Cannon, with high attack and speed but pretty fragile, compared to Vee’s pretty balanced set-up. However, Spearow proved to be lucky, too, as after Baby-Doll Eyes Spearow got in a maximum amount of Fury Attacks on Vee. Fortunately, due to Vee’s first move being on a range he got the upper hand in the move exchange, and two Swifts did enough to strike down the Spearow, but not before Spearow got in another full five Fury Attacks, leaving Vee pretty damaged. Though…
Vee grew to level 11!
Then… Mareep. Hah.
Taillow Pecked Mareep! … Then got zapped by Thundershock!
Ducklett shot a Water Gun at Mareep! … Then got x4’d by Thundershock!
Zubat Supersoniced and got Mareep Confused! … Mareep fought through and Thundershocked Zubat anyway!
Mareep grew to level 15! Mareep learned Charge!
‘… You know, I’m starting to think going monotype may have been a bad idea…’ Carl said, staring blankly at the battlefield.
Erza was victorious! Erza earned 301P for winning!
A light shone in around the sheep Pokémon, as it was preparing to change into its next shape. Mareep is able to stop the evolution if she so wishes. However, if not, her shape’s going to elongate, from standing on four to standing on two legs, and…!
Pokédex Entry #180 – Flaaffy, the Wool Pokémon. Its fluffy fleece stores electricity, while its rubbery hide protects it from shocking itself. However, as it stores too much electricity, it develops patches where wool won’t grow. If its coat becomes fully charged, the tail lights up. It’s able to fire its “hair”, which zaps a target on contact.
Congratulations! Your Mareep evolved into a Flaaffy!
New Pokémon recorded! Erza gained 2000P!
Now, against Ulrika.
Princess VS Vulpix. Princess started with Gust… only to find that the enemy Vulpix had exceptional Special Defense. She managed to relatively dodge an Ember, and then go in for a Tackle. There was a bit of a close-range struggle as Vulpix attempted to Ember at the bird up close, Princess doing more and more damage while Vulpix managed to get an Ember or two in in return. Princess was doing fine and about to win… when Vulpix turned and managed to predict Princess’ attack angle and blasted an Ember straight on. Critical Hit! Princess fainted. A heavily damaged Vulpix turns to face Erza’s next Pokémon.
Still going to get experience for that, though.
Princess grew to level 12!
Regardless. Knock down the Vulpix with any Pokémon.
Against Mareep, it was Budew… for a second, and then it was Vulpix, which had around the same effect as Sunny Day as harsh sunlight came down. Vulpix got paralyzed by a Thunder Wave, but that didn’t stop her. It became an Ember VS Thunder Shock match, and due to the harsh sunlight shining overhead Vulpix held the advantage, firing until Mareep was a cooked sheep that fell fainted.
Budew grew to level 8! Budew learned Water Sport!
Vulpix grew to level 12! Vulpix learned Confuse Ray!
Vee VS Eevee. On account of this Eevee being male, it is not the Eevee from before. Baby-Doll Eyes and Tail Whip was exchanged, which basically neutralized the other, before one went to Swift and the other went to Tackle! And now… now was a performance where one were more skilled than the other. Vee had two levels on the Eevee, and Eevee over here was freshly caught while Vee was more used to trainer VS trainer battle by now. Vee pretty easily came out on top.
Vee grew to level 12!
‘Ow, ow, ow! Alright, then! Back to the Pokémon Center with me!’ Ulrika smiled as she was defeated.
Erza was victorious! Erza earned 633 P for winning!
Finally, against Gideon.
Budew VS Chingling… nope, psyke, Poochyena VS Chingling! Chingling’s Confusion didn’t go well. Chingling’s going to have to go with Wrap, then! … Yeah, no, Poochyena’s going to bite it to pieces.
Budew grew to level 9!
Poochyena grew to level 13! Poochyena learned Odor Sleuth!
Vulpix VS Blitzle. Baby-Doll Eyes decreased Blitzle’s attack as it Quick Attacked away, and then it became a Ember VS Shock Wave battle. Shock Wave WOULD have been the stronger move… but Draught brought a scorching sun into the battle, as well as the fact the typical Vulpix has twice the Special Defense of a Blitzle, and so Vulpix could take the thunder way better than Blitzle could take Vulpix’s enhanced fireballs. Three Embers later, and Blitzle fainted.
Vulpix grew to level 13!
Budew VS Dwebble! Budew starts by using Growth, increasing its Attack and Special Attack dramatically! Dwebble starts shooting rocks at Budew, shooting three rocks but Budew managed to dodge one of them. Dwebble’s high attack still meant this stung! But, with enhanced power, Budew still went for Absorb! Growth had efficiently turned Absorb into Mega Drain, draining Dwebble of some health. Attacking Special Defense was definitely the right move on Dwebble, having weak such… but Budew had weak Defense in turn. In the next round, Dwebble shot a full five rocks into Budew, who barely held on, Absorbing health back but not enough to last another round.
Erza switched to Poochyena, who immediately performed pretty well dodging three out of four rocks of a Rock Blast. Dwebble now went for the super-effective Fury Cutter, while Poochyena went for Bite, and-
Poochyena bit first, causing considerable damage to Dwebble, but Dwebble sliced back and- yowch! Maybe Poochyena got a cool scar from it? … Critical Hit! Super Effective! Poochyena survived only with a slight bit of health on account of being the higher leveled Pokémon. … Poochyena then bit again, and Dwebble fainted.
Budew grew to level 11! Budew learned Stun Spore!
Budew probably became happier with Erza as a trainer, too.
Poochyena grew to level 14!
‘Okay, you got it!’ Gideon grinned as he admitted defeat.
Erza was victorious! Erza gained 272P for winning!
That done with, Erza can continue the other training he intended on doing!
Assuming he went to the Pokémon Center First.
For training on Route 11.
Zigzagoon having Tackle, Growl, Tail Whip and possibly Sand Attack. Budew had Absorb and Growth. Pidove had Gust and Growl.
Vee, Princess, and Budew having no trouble rounding up the local Pokémon, the latter admittedly only against Zigzagoon and only after long battles against other Budews, but quite a few needed to defeat quite a few of them to level up, probably won’t achieve over level 13 on this route.
Vee grew to level 13! Vee learned Quick Attack!
Princess grew to level 13! Princess learned Quick Attack!
Budew grew to level 13! Budew learned Mega Drain!
So, off to train on Route 12, based on the writing on the other post.
For Vulpix, there was Budews that she was effective against, but there was nothing on the route that was super-effective against her, here. That said, the relatively high level of Pokémon here meant she could only grind one level before getting too damaged to continue.
Vulpix grew to level 14!
Vee has no trouble rounding up a few brutes on this route, go for it.
Vee grew to level 14!
As long as Princess avoids the electric types, she does fine here.
Princess grew to level 14!
As long as Budew avoids the fire-types, she does fine here.
Budew grew to level 14!
Are you keeping her happy?
Flaaffy and Poochyena are done levelling for now. Go back and heal.
That should be a decent amount of training, shouldn’t it?
Back in Redcoast City, now. What would Erza like to do?
Redcoast City
Redcoast City. Named so for the beautiful twilights that this sea is said to provide on the nights by the sandy beaches to the immediate west. Perhaps it is due to the perpetual rain over Rainrock, but it almost never rains here, and what started out as simply a pathway between Worldedge and Pureplain grew into a small city in its own right. Here, people mainly gather for the outpost towards the sea and to spend a well-deserved vacation. The buildings here are a mix of old fancy styles rich people might appreciate and healthy modern buildings, many green trees and pools of water invite nature in here. But the city is also not big enough to intimidate the average visitor, many open spaces exist with fresh vacation-air going through town, a homely feeling. Redcoast is close enough to Pureplain to be able to partake in all sorts of worldly delicacies, and hotels as well as restaurants of the fanciest kinds exist along the streets. But these things isn’t the main reason why Pokémon Trainers would be coming to Redcoast City,
A Pokémon Gym exists, one which all Pokémon Trainers who wish to partake in the Pokémon League needs to enter eventually. It is said to be a run-down warehouse that emits an evil aura and cries of pain can be heard from within frightening those who’d wish to visit. For a Pokémon Coordinator, this is also the city where their adventure starts, with the Contest Hall allowing tryouts for the newest talents and Dreamer Studios allowing for training within the field for those wishing to take on the world. Closer to the water lies the Surfer’s Club, where one can partake in training and sports for those who wishes to ride their Pokémon across the waves along with other activities. And then, also closer to the sea, is a large building where Team Virtue resides in their West Base opposite their main base in Justroad City, reminding that this place us under their guard. They’re always accepting applicants.

Fortunately, Seabreeze only really needed to worry about Murkrows because all other wild Pokémon were too scared/intelligent to do anything but bail as long as Entei stood there. The legendary beast kept his eyes on Skylar as he approached… and gave a slight warning gruff of a sound, indicating that he wasn’t about to let Skylar touch his mane as things were. That said, Skylar was allowed to walk pretty close. Skylar asked his question, even while standing so close to the massive pressure of the fiery lion…
Entei nodded. With a slightly somber but slightly satisfied expression, the mighty beast bowed its head just the slightest before bringing it back up, affirming that indeed, this was the case. After this, Entei lowered his head to grab into the back of Mareep with his mouth, the Mareep giving a distressed little cry as the wool Pokémon was lifted up, and then Entei turned around and leapt back into the forest, quickly disappearing among the trees.
‘… There he goes,’ says the farmer, who just reappeared by the fence behind Skylar. ‘Well. I’m not going to deduct pay for that one, what could you have done? He appears every now and then, and, well. No worries. I have a LOT of Mareep eggs. I’ll consider it my offering, I suppose. If ya ever want to see him again, you can just work here, and he may show up,’ the farmer said.
‘In any case. That’s all I need you for. Well done,’ the farmer said, and handed over the payment.
Skylar gained 1500P!
And for their efforts…
Seabreeze grew to level 12! Seabreeze learned Mist! Celebrity grew to level 12! Paradise grew to level 12! Jonathan grew to level 12!
The farmer went on, and now Skylar’s in Highhill Town, free to do as he likes again.
Highhill Town
Highhill Town is a small, lively place that has seemingly stood atop this hill from time immemorial and never really changed. The atmosphere in Highhill Town is much fresher than surrounding places, the buildings are older and the work as honest as ever. The old town is populated by elders and younglings aplenty, and the town has a culture of their own. Plenty of Pokémon assist with the work, either as work-force or the animals that work is being done on.
One usually only crosses Highhill Town on a trip to or from Pureplain City. Regardless, it is a place of beauty. The fields around it are cultivated by hard-working people and Pokémon while the lake to the east gleams in the sunshine as fishermen attend it. There are small roads of asphalt spiraling up the hill to lead to all the old buildings, and children playing around in stairs or nature is very common.
It is said that a trainer praying at the nearby Silent Shrine will be blessed on their journey, so many travel to Highhill Town just for that. There’s also a set of very ancient rocks spread about town, pointing out towards the lake on top of the hill with some engravings. What they mean? Nobody knows. Also, Highhill Town is the residence of a certain Move Changer, whose abilities are sought by some new trainers. What he can do? Visit him to find out.

Yamask followed after when Amelia went to the Golett and Honedge a bit further away. Golett stood straight and official, silent and on-guard like in the presence of a commander still, while Honedge floated with what almost looked like a frown on the face in the scabbard of the floating sword. Amelia started to explain the situation…
"… Lord Aegislash has allowed me to take you all out of the tomb and with me on my journey…"
Golett suddenly piqued awake, looking at Amelia, and then stepped forward and did a nod with its entire torso towards her. Apparently, that was all Golett needed to hear. The rest that Amelia had to say didn’t change that.
Amelia obtained Golett!

Honedge looked a bit more unconvinced, looking Amelia over for a bit. He looked over towards Aegislash a bit, and they stared at one another. Presumably, some form of contact was taking place, whereas Honedge was being given a bit of information about this individual who’d he be joining. Honedge eventually turned and looked towards Amelia, one of the eyes of the scabbard tilting a bit, as raising eyebrows didn’t really work on the eyebrow-less scabbard. Eventually, though…
‘… Honedge!’ Sounded like he’d accept the challenge.

On principle, the average Pokémon should not mind being placed in boxes, or the system would never have been implemented in the first place. That said, Pokémon can have individual preferences, you know the drill. I’ll leave that discussion for you to resolve.
When Eryn started talking about having him or another Onix in her team, Onix raised his head higher, to look down upon the little human talking. He kept still, Diglett doing the same, inspecting Eryn and letting her finish her little speech. After she was done talking, Onix kept silent for a bit, considering her words. Then… he directed his head closer and roared.
The cavern shook somewhat underneath her feet, many surrounding Digletts that were around fleeing, though not the particular Diglett next to her. It was probably hard to interpret the roar. Challenge? A command for her to get her ass out of here? However… a couple of seconds after the giant roar, the cavern started shaking once again. More shaking. From more than one direction.
Seconds later, another Onix showed up through a tunnel to Eryn’s right, the giant rock-snake emerging and standing tall. Then, another Onix showed up in a similar fashion to her left. Then behind her. Then slightly to her right behind and above her, a giant rock-snake looking on as the head stuck out of the ceiling. A final one in front of her to the left, emerging from the ground next to the Onix that had guided her here, placing herself next to him. Eryn and her Pokémon found themselves surrounded by five different Onix.
‘Oooooooooonnnniiiiix… Ooooooooonnnn…!’ the one she’d met roared more silently to her, pointing about his tail at the rest of them.
Translation for Dei and Eri: ‘If you wish to collect an Onix, there is more than me. I am yet beyond your power, but one of my kin here may not be… You’ll have to show your mettle in battle for any of us to join you…!’
He then turned and spoke something to the Onix next to him, and she gave him a bit of a glare. Yet, then she reached forth her tail… and placed something on the ground in front of them.
‘Ooooooonnnn… Niiiiiiiix…!’
Translation for Dei and Eri: ‘Alternatively, an adventure in the world at large is something I could wish for my child… You can make a powerful warrior out of what comes from this egg…!’
If Eryn checks the egg, it’s already close to hatching. She wouldn’t have to wait for long.
‘Diglett!’ Diglett called in amazement.
Eryn’s actions?
Eryn emerges from the mountainside a bit lower than the actual exit from Wet Caverns. She can see a road that heads up a hill into the mountain, but she’s to the right of the hill, meaning she needs to do a bit of a climb to get up to the road. There’s a great river and more mountainside to the right, stretching on to the right of the route, but at the very least it is not blocking the way the same way the mountain of the Wet Caverns is. She needs to get onto the road, because assumingly she wants to cross the bridge up ahead that will carry her over the river. She takes a couple steps, then-
The earth shakes behind her, and a loud crashing sound echoes behind her. Onix had collapsed the new entrance she had come through. A new entrance that went directly down into the territory was less than desirable, after all, and as such it was destroyed when the need that had created it was on her way. There was no going back that way… unless she came back with an equally powerful digger, anyway.
Eryn could head on, anyway. To the left was the great expanse of water that was Route 14, otherwise known as the Dragon Lake. Moving on from there, she could head forth to the town that awaited her. She had to cross a bridge, but when she got there, she found the place to be… partly submerged.
Lakewatch Town
As one looks upon Lakewatch, it is clear it was once built by the side of the water. Yet, over time, Dragon Lake has actually increased in volume, the water-level rising and swallowing the town. Then the natural conclusion would be to move the town back, follow the water-level, and rebuild at the new shore, right? That, does not appear to have been the thought that went through the minds of the designers of this Town, which is essentially placed out in the water on top of older buildings, the streets of the town flooded in water and to get around one has to make use of their many canoes or get on the back of a Pokémon. Quagsires seem to be strangely prefered, and there are Woopers hanging around in the waters blankly.
The town of Lakewatch rises fairly high for its size, and vegetation grows pretty freely around the buildings. Most buildings and streets have white floating cobblestone to walk on either side of the streets, with a river of water flowing in the middle. People here are highly accustomed to this, and the streets are constantly bustling with people heading back and forth, as well as people actually gliding down from the higher buildings from the roofs above using strange little paragliders. It appears people live in the higher floors, while business takes place on ground/water-level. There are canoes basically everywhere that anyone’s free to borrow, townspeople commonly jumping down on a canoe, using the force of the jump to drift it to the other side and then simply jump off.
Now, anyone could hear from the name that Lakewatch Town is the town that basically rules the Dragon Lake. The Lakewatchers are a group of people that regularly patrol the waters, and become friends with the dragons that live there. Tours by the Lakewatchers are the primary tourist attraction of the place, along with the fish that is procured from the same lake, and guides are trained to show the way in any surrounding areas. Their boats are also those who trade with the western side through Highhill, keeping the place alive and busy. Plus, there’s always the rumors of treasure or otherwise hiding deep in Flooded Lakewatch, and Descent Tower looms in the middle of town for those hoping to explore… but who really knows? It’s a nice and different place, definitely.
Pokédex Entry #194 – Wooper, the Water Fish Pokémon. It lives in cold water, sleeping on the bottom and seeking food by the shore when it's cold. When walking above water, wild Woopers cover their bodies with a slimy, poisonous film that keeps them from dehydrating. It's slightly dull-witted.
Pokédex Entry #195 – Quagsire, the Water Fish Pokémon. A very easy-going Pokémon, they swim about and don’t even mind if they bump their heads into things. When hunting, it simply opens its mouth and moves no muscles, waiting for prey to blunder in. When not moving, it expands very little energy and does not need food for a long time.
Note, one basically has to cross water to get through this town. It’s not going to be used to slow anyone down, but to be considered when writing a post about crossing it.
What would Eryn do here?
1. Find Pokémon. There’s plenty of water here. Could be any number of Water Pokémon in the different rivers through town. 2. Talk. In cities, there are considerably more people one can talk to. Talking can give you info on local rumors and such. 3. Exit. Exit the town to any of the connected areas. 4. Specify. If you specify what you want to do, the GM will take it into account and tell the result. 5. Trigger random event. Force the GM to use his imagination to make a scenario for you. 6. Notable Buildings. Visit any of the facilities of the city! 6.1. Pokémon Center. Heal all your Pokémon. 6.2. PokéMart. Go to a store and buy things. 6.3. Pokémon Gym. ??? 6.4. Lakewatcher Base. From where Lakewatchers embark to patrol Dragon Lake. 6.5. Lakewatch Docks. For getting tours of Dragon Lake, just taking a ferry or fishing! 6.6. Explorer’s Guide Service. With all these strange places around, Lakewatch offers guides to the surrounding areas! 6.7. Descent Tower. A tower in the middle of town, with stairs down to Flooded Lakewatch. Come prepared for the underwater. 6.8. Back Alleys. … What? Lakewatch has a darker section? What are you talking about?
Connected areas: Wet Caverns. Water-filled caverns that are located to the east. There’s a small hill to climb to get to the entrance. Route 5. The main exit of Lakewatch, leading to a grassy incline connecting mountains, forests and plains. Route 14. The waters of Dragon Lake are also known as Route 14. It connects Lakewatch Town, Highhill Town and Stillwood Village.
Actually, Water Gun and Vine Whip has normal effect on Gible, part-ground type! However, does Jenelle know that?
‘Grr, dragon! That means Water Gun is ineffective! Alright! Panpour, use Scratch!’ Jenelle commanded, pointing forth.
She does not.
Panpours are faster than Gibles on average, so Panpour got in a Scratch on Gibs first… but then had a Sandstorm erupted into its face. After being buffeted once and getting that Gibs is pretty tough, Panpour used Leer to reduce Gibs Defense successfully, but was then hit in the face by a Sand-Attack. Now Panpour dashed in to Scratch again, but mid-sandstorm and with sand in the face, Panpour had a hard time hitting anything and was buffeted by the sandstorm, and Gibs just sent more sand into its face. By some stroke of luck Panpour managed to hit the next Scratch, but then was promptly Dragon Raged. Panpour stuck around by eating its Sitrus Berry and then tried to attack again… missing terribly and then fainting to the next Dragon Rage.
Pansear was next, revealing the theme of Jenelle’s Pokémon. It goes immediately on the offensive, which Gibs responds to by sending sand in its face. With Sand-Veil in place it means that Pansear misses all four of its Scratches as the fire monkey desperately tears into the sandstorm and, albeit the sandstorm dissipated after the second Sand-Attack, Pansear still missed and Gibs could just set up Sandstorm again and Dragon Rage the poor blind monkey to fainting again without having taken any damage.
Completing the trio was Pansage. It was Sand-Attacked in the face, but despite all of that, it still landed the first Scratch. Gibs had taken quite a bit of damage, now, but was still trucking and shot another Sand-Attack in Pansage’s face. Pansage missed the next Scratch, and then got Dragon Raged again, the dragon-type flames making the monkey cry out from damage and being flung back to eat its Sitrus Berry. It somehow hit the next Scratch, leaving Gibs with perilously little health left… but the next Dragon Rage took out Pansage as well, meaning Gibs had effectively taken out all of Jenelle’s Pokémon on his own.
Gibs grew to level 15! Gibs learned Take Down!
Erika was victorious! Erika gained 546P for winning!
‘Nooooooooooo! My Pans! I-it cost so much to complete the set…!’ Jenelle complained, placing her hands on her head in panic after they all lay defeated. She then looked to Erika in mild panic, then smiled a panicked businessman’s smile and held a hand forward to her.
‘H-hey! Y-you’re pretty good, but how about this? You let me have that Farfetch’d, and I’ll use the money from the client to order whatever Pokémon you want! No matter how rare, Team Amethyst can procure it for you! H-honestly, I’m more concerned about my reputation within the team right now than I am of the money, so if I get to seem competent, you can use it! I get the credit for catching the Pokémon, while you get Amethyst to bring you the Pokémon of your dreams for you, for no cost and no strings attached! Th-that’s a sweet deal, right!?’
So Jenelle attempted, desperate.
‘Far…?’ Farfetch’d asked, behind Erika.
What would Erika do?
… Now, if she declines, Jenelle is probably just going to reply to what Erika says and then run off in a panic with her fainted monkeys, so here’s the Mountain Valley again for the next action. Of course, the next action could be addressing Farfetch’d, but in case it isn’t.
Mountain Valley
Pressed in between Mt. Strength and Mt. Chill, the Mountain Valley are a set of highlands that someone decided to make a thin but traversable road that can be travested by walking. At the edge between where it’d be too cold to climb due to cold, this mountainous region is filled with green hills with plenty of grass and plenty of winds. Here, many bird-Pokémon enjoys floating on the winds or eating small bugs in the many botches of grass around in this area reasonably untouched by human hands. In the north, the jagged peaks of Mt. Strength looms, but to the south the far taller frozen mountain range of Mt. Chill towers above… but that doesn’t affect those who travel this windy road right now.
1. Find Pokémon. Can be specified what kind of Pokémon is being searched for, and how you search. 2. Train Pokémon. With this command, we can jump ahead in time and skip posting about grinding. 3. Seek trainers. Though most people around here seems to just be people enjoying the view together or alone. 4. Talk. There are some people around, enjoying the evening in the woods. Maybe speak with them if you want. 5. 9. Area Specific: Climb. Not the recommended path onto Mt. Strength, but it looks like you could theoretically climb with the right tools. Mt. Chill is way too steep, though.
Connected areas: Stillwood Village. A village hidden inside a forest, connected by the Mountain Valley road. Route 10. The farmlands feeding Worldedge City awaits to the east, giving a mystic feeling.
It should be noted Claire left the roulette with 1130 coins.
Togepi looked a little confused at Claire’s suddenly patting him, but then looked up happily, waving his tiny arms at her.
‘Togepi!’
‘Biscuit, huh? You’re a bold one,’ the queen commented. ‘In that case, I shall bet 100 coins as well.’
‘Here’s a little primary,’ Valerie said, smiling as she turned to the race. ‘Lucky won last race, and Empress had a winning streak before that. Biscuit will always be annoyed at whoever just won, more annoyed the more they’ve won in a row. Lucky has a tendency to exhaust herself when she wins, so she rarely wins twice in a row. However, Biscuit will still go for her, and Empress is between Biscuit and Lucky. Now, Empress is usually skilled enough to avoid Biscuit, but she rarely performs well right after a loss due to the shock of losing a long winning streak, like the one she just had. As such, I believe the winner will be…’ Valerie held out her money and made her bet.
‘… Zodiac. He seems to have his heads on straight, today,’ she said, like she had solved the puzzle, her own hand going over to pat the Togepi as she did.
‘Toge!’ Togepi called.
And so, the Dodrios got into a row. Order was Zodiac, Biscuit, Grassball, Empress, Lucky, like the order of the bettings. Now, after a bit of preparation, a Bronzong’s bell was hit to call the beginning of the race…
And Biscuit starts the entire thing by ramming to the right, because that’s apparently allowed.
He misses Grassball, mostly because Grassball’s heads were still squabbling, but it took Biscuit straight into the side of Empress, who then carried them off into Lucky, the three heads of Lucky blinking in surprise before they were all bashed into the wall.
The only Dodrio to actually dash on was Zodiac.
‘… And there we have it,’ Valerie said with a smile. ‘Honestly, sometimes it all turns so predict-’ Valerie stopped talking, because Zodiac suddenly turned around right before the finish line. Togepi was still smiling at Claire.
Biscuit came skipping over, the only real survivor of the crash he had arranged for. There was somewhat of a glaredown taking place between the riders and the Dodrios, two out of three Biscuit heads giving what sounded like mocking laughter at Zodiac, whose heads were looking at Biscuit with what appeared to be malice…
‘… Oh, no,’ Valerie said, realizing. ‘Zodiac had enough. He… always did state his distaste for winning due to Biscuit…’
The two Dodrios charged one another, one with heavy justice and the other just enjoying being placed in this situation…
‘… But… Zodiac can’t beat Biscuit…’ Valerie stated out her realization…
… And so it was. Zodiac might be stronger, but Biscuit didn’t know the meaning of fair fighting. While the audience shouted the name of their preferred winner, Zodiac attacked with regular Fury Attacks… but Biscuit countered by using Pluck, aimed like one of Zodiac’s six eyes was a berry. Biscuit then proceeded to entangle them while Zodiac was in pain, wrapping leg over and tripping the other Dodrio.
This… was when Empress came running, having finally recovered from the crash and was dashing to go past the battle and finish first. It really looked like-
Biscuit threw Zodiac in a perfect manner to crash him into Empress and the two hit the wall in what looked like a really painful manner.
Two out of three of Biscuit’s heads laughed as they pranced over the finishing line.
Claire won 1000 coins!
For a total of 2030 coins.
‘Togepi!’ Togepi called out happily. Valerie turned her gaze to look at the blissfully ignorant Pokémon.
‘Deceitful little creature, aren’t you,’ the queen muttered. Then, she reached into her clothing…
And placed a rather large bowl next to Togepi.
‘Toge?’ Togepi asked. Valerie proceeded to take out a Pokéball and call out…
Pokédex Entry #662 – Fletchinder, the Ember Pokémon. A territorial Pokémon that will hunt other Fletchinders off if too close. It’s very fast, its acceleration from takeoff is famously high, though can only reach max speed when its flame sack’s gotten warm enough. When feeding it sets grass on fire from its beak, and then feeds on the bugs jumping out in fright.
‘You know what to do,’ Valerie commanded, while she was taking out a bottle of Fresh Water and pouring it into the bowl. Fletchinder nodded, and pulled its wings around the bowl, heating it up with Flame Body. Valerie then lifted and gently placed the surprised Togepi into the heated water…
‘Togeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…’ Togepi breathed out as he was allowed a very nice warm bath, a little comfortable smile on the little Pokémon present. Valerie then gave it an Oran Berry, Togepi blinking happily and then accepting the berry to eat as a snack in the pool.
‘Only the best for my precious companion,’ Valerie said, smiling oh, so kindly at Togepi.
‘Togepi~!’ Togepi called, happily. Fletchinder was dutifully heating the water still.
‘Now, then…’ Valerie turned to Claire. ‘It seems you have a 1000 coin head start, as the result of the most violent “race” I’ve ever seen. Very well. I would have simply matched your bet in all the races, but I feel forced to ask how many coins you started with? If I bet more than that, it would be fundamentally unfair,’ Valerie said, something sharp in her tone now. Claire proved to be a challenger, after all.
The Dodrios are brought back to the starting point. Most look pretty messed up after Biscuits last performance, though. Zodiac looks out of it, Lucky looks confused and Empress looks angry. Biscuit still hasn’t stopped laughing, and Grassball looks… normal. For now.
Now the starting order from left to right is… Biscuit, Zodiac, Empress, Lucky, Grassball.
So. Claire’s next bet? Valerie will insist on betting after her.
As demonstrated, with the exception of outside interference, anything goes on the Dodrio tracks. Only rule is to start at the same time and first one that crosses the finish-line wins. Usually racing is just a lot faster than trying to fight the others, though.

Seeing Vee being struck five times made Erza wince slightly; that Spearow was no joke. The boy kept himself steady however, his eyes focusing solely on the two pokémon battling in front of him:
"Come on, Vee! You've got this, I know it! Swift!"
The battle carried on. Vee got fury-attacked five times in a row once again, but after all the hard work, it inevitably won. It was time to switch into Mareep.
"Guess you've been...."
"THUNDERSTRUCK!" Mareep had a really easy time with his flying types. After beating up this poor flying-type trainer, Erza could only agree with his remark: Mono-type trainers couldn't deal with their weaknesses very well. Which is why Erza was planning to have an array of different, well-trained and tough pokémon to deal with everything since his objective was reaching the top of the pokémon league and making a name for himself. Heh.
...
And then, Mareep started to glow faintly - the pokémon didn't halt it's own evolution, and Erza observed with awe in his eyes, his hands clasping together. "W-Wow! Look at that, I just caught her and it's already evolving?! Amazing!"
Finally, Mareep finished evolving into it's second stage: Flaaffy, which Erza quickly registered with the pokédex before humming softly. "I guess... you need a nickname now, right? How about... Tailglow- uhno, maybe... Starlight? Eh... Pharia?"
At the last suggestion Flaaffy seemed to light up, some electricity sparking around it as it moved over to Erza. Apparently it enjoyed the name for some reason.
After a while, Erza battled against another trainer. Here, he led with Princess - the pidgey - against the opponent's Vulpix. The battle was intense and Erza was always cheering on his pokémon... though, a critical ember took down his flying type.
"Princess! Damn! Come back..." Calling the fainted pokémon back, Erza brought the pokéball close to his face and whispered softly. "You did very well, sorry about that." And immediately picked up Poochyena's pokéball, sending out the dark-type to finish the fire-type. The battle was short.
"Great job, Poochyena! Now return and come out, Budew! The grass/poison-type didn't see much action until now and... well. It was very low level so Erza was preserving it, instead, switching mid-combat to Vulpix. The battle was quite intense, an exchange of embers and thundershocks- but Vulpix came out on top.
"Great job, Vulpix! I knew I could count on you!"
On sight of an Eevee, Vee was sent in. The battle was difficult because both had similar movesets- but Vee's experience quickly proved decisive on this combat. Erza cheered with a big smile as he beat his second trainer in a row.
"Amazing, Vee! Great job!"
A third battle against another trainer. Erza led with Budew, once again, but quickly called it back as he saw the psychic pokémon, knowing that it would be no good because of Budew's poison type. Instead, Poochyena came out.
It won over the Chingling with ease.
Blitzle came out and Vulpix went in as well.
"Baby-doll eyes, Vulpix! I know these quick attacks can hurt." Yeah, flashbacks from a recent event made Erza extra wary of this one. However, harsh-sun empowered embers made it a quick work and eventually the electric type couldn't battle any longer.
"Yeah, we're steamrolling here, man!" Erza was quite content with his victories and with reason.
And lastly, Erza sent in Budew. A Dwebble came out and Erza immediately told Budew to Growth, knowing that the harsh sun doubles the stats gain from that particular move. Followed right after, was an Absorb - though Budew took some damage on the way there.
"Great job, Budew! One more absorb, come on!" Dwebble was a very interesting pokémon and apparently this one was tough. It managed one more absorb, but a sequence of rock blasts hurt far too much for Erza to continue the battle with it.
"That was amazing, Budew! But now come back, it'd your turn, Poochyena!"
A quick-switch to preserve his grass-type and take on the weakened Dwebble won the battle for Erza, though Poochyena took quite the damage from a critical-hit Fury Cutter. Surprisingly, that activated the Poochyena's hidden ability, making the pokémon much faster than normal - it moved so fast that Erza didn't even commanded any move, so the Poochyena bit on it's own.
"W-Wow! That was incredible, Poochyena! Take a well-deserved rest. Thanks for the battle, it was intense."
And thus, Erza had enough of battling trainers. They were much tougher than wild pokémon obviously, so it was time to grab some more training with those many wild pokémon in the nearby routes. Of course, a quick run back to the pokémon center to get his team healthy again.
In the way back to their training, Erza released Budew, Poochyena and Vulpix from their pokéballs, grinning broadly as he looked over to the trio. He picked up Budew as it couldn't quite keep up with Poochyena and Vulpix, holding her in his arms.
"So, I've been thinkin' up some cool names, you know? And I've decided on some. Starting with you... Poochyena! You move very quickly and that makes you really scary, you know? Like a predator. What do you think of Shadowfang?"
The Poochyena howled and bared it's fangs aggressively, though in a manner that Erza could understand that it was apparently trying to imitate an actual predator. Good, it liked the name.
"Great! Vulpix, whenever you enter a battle, things get really intense and hot... so uhm, how do you like Summer?"
The Vulpix didn't quite react, so Erza cast a glance at the fire-type. It seemed in thought... but only for a few moments before it nodded with a happy;
"Vul, pix!"
"Hah, guess you liked it, Summer! Great."
With that, there was one mon left to name: Budew, which was held in Erza's arms. The boy gently patted the rosebud pokémon.
"And the last one is you, Budew. You look like a rosebud, you know? Really cute... but I gotta say, I have the feeling you'll become something tough, yeah? Still, how about... Flora?"
If Budew had arms, it would probably clap now. The tiny pokémon seemed content with the nickname - so much that Erza giggled a bit as the pokémon moved around in his arms. "Deww!"
Now, since the post is becoming a monolith of reactions, I will cut the wild-grind part. Basically usual Erza here, commenting and cheering for his pokémon, training them between the routes and eventually returning to Redcoast City.
Erza steps back into Redcoast, with his six pokémon outside of their pokéball and following close by... Except Budew. Unfortunately it was too tiny to keep up with the rest, so Erza carried it. And Vee, whom had naturally taken a liking to sitting on Erza's shoulder.
"I'm really feeling it now, you know! We've trained a lot, man." The trainer glanced over at his pokémon, they were all looking tired but at the same time happy with their own effort, apparently. "We deserve a good, long rest! What do ya'll think?"
The pokémon replied in total agreement. Heh, maybe Erza had overdone it...
So, without further ado, Erza went to the pokémon center. After healing up, he decidedly asked to rest in the pokémon center with his pokémon. Since it was apparently a thing.
The next day, Erza's first was quickly running around, stopping people to ask a very, very important detail.
"Where can I find the best pokémon food in Redcoast?!"
(PpP - P per Person, the whole team are fed for free after)
1. Briger Burgers - 100 PpP. Just a street-stand selling burgers made by one guy named Briger. He has a Meowth that plays with the customers.
2. Lotad Loafers - 300 PpP. Questionable Lotad-themed place where the servers are Lotads walking on bridges between the tables. They sell sandwiches and quickly-cooked meals. A sign assures customers that you don’t eat Lotads.
3. Wiggly Waffles - 500 PpP. A colorful corner where this guy has a Wigglytuff that is supposedly makes amazing waffles! … And, uh, virtually nothing else.
4. Suns and Rivers - 1000 PpP. A decent place with a third-floor altitude giving view over Redcoast’s sunset, beaches and water, with decent food. Don’t exactly expect to be blown away by the culinary experience, but it’s good.
5. Lundin’s Fine Establishment - 3000 PpP. Just a really nice place in the middle of a very populated street that smells nice, looks pristine and serves well, both to you and your Pokémon! It’s typically very crowded due to its fame, however.
6. Dreamer’s Corner - 5000 PpP. In cooperation with Dreamer Studios and the Pokémon Contest Hall, this place allows you to sit on a special VIP restaurant seating that lets you eat while watching Pokémon Contests to the finest foods imaginable!
Erza's told that Lundin's has the best Pokémon food, though there are always fans of the other examples. A surprising amount recommend Briger Burgers, for some reason.

Erza found information rather quickly... And well, he had earned a lot of money recently and all thanks to his pokémon, so it was only natural that he'd spend it with them. Onwards to Lundin's Fine Establishment!
It actually took Erza a bit to find the desired place - and then, a much longer time to finally get a table. After paying the full amount and comfortably sitting at a rather large table, Erza released all of his pokémon and smirked broadly.
"Hehehe... Hope you all enjoy it as much as I will, because maaaaaan, I'm hungry! And I didn't even work as hard as you guys did!"
The table was meant for eight, so there was only one empty char, with the others filled with Erza and his entire team. Without much knowledge of what they served here and what was actually good, Erza trusted the waitress/waiter to provide recommendations for him and also the food for each pokémon that was with him.
After the satisfying meal, Erza and his team rested a little more just to gather their energy again. It didn't last long, however, as the boy was now ready to tackle a new challenge. Hector... the fighting gym leader. Honestly, if he didn't knew about it previously, Erza would've been shaking right now: This place was scary, but the reasoning behind it was not.
Anyway... After some deep breath, Erza and his starter, Vee, both entered the gym with Erza announcing his entrance with a large shout:
"I WANT TO TAKE THE GYM LEADER CHALLENGE!"
While Vee raised it's head high and shouted with the same energy:

Skylar was still in a bit of shock after the Entei incident, but he felt resurged to continue on his journey. He knew for sure that if he was going to find the legendary Ho-oh, he'd definitely have to keep working on his team and himself before he could even come close to seeing the massive phoenix.
Until then, he was left with his team again, and they were back on their own. Definitely not for long, though, as Skylar did want to go do some more training before he eventually tackled the Highhill Gym. It wasn't that he didn't have any faith in his team, heck he had a lot of confidence in his team's strengths, but rather he wanted everyone to be up to par in order to tackle the gym head on. Plus, dusk was setting in, and if there were any rare birds to be found at Highhill at night, now would definitely be a good time to try and find them.
"Wingull?" Seabreeze asked, looking down at Skylar from the top of his head.
"We're gonna go back over by the lake, I think. Mac should probably learn how to hold his own, but since he's such a little fellow I think maybe some Magikarp would be some good starter training." Skylar explained. Skylar himself was currently sitting on the back of Paradise, who nodded before wandering slowly towards the lake. Also on Paradise's back was Celebrity (taking a well-earned nap, no doubt), and JoJo, who was still trying to gain his bearings while holding onto Paradise's neck for stability.
In Skylar's arms sat Mac, who was curiously pecking at Skylar's tanktop neck. Skylar looked down at the Torchic and giggled, before gently poking the Torchic's beak away. "Hey buddy, I've only got so many of these. Let's not stretch the neck anymore than it needs to be, eh?"
"Chic?" Mac tilted his head, confused at Skylar's initial request. Skylar pointed to his collar and shook his head, which seemed to have Mac understand with a nod. Cute little bird. Definitely not the brightest, but he'd fit in just fine after a little bit of training.
At last, Skylar and Co. made it to the lake once again. Skylar smiled at the sight of the setting sun shining onto the lake while he pulled out his fishing rod, unfolding it and looking back at the lake. He was here to fish up Magikarp for Mac to train on safely, and he was here to see if there were any dragons willing to join the party (if he somehow managed...)
With another banana from Paradise, Seabreeze flapping over the orange water, and with JoJo recovering from Confusion, Skylar cast his rod back out into the lake and began to fish.
(Details on training in the action summary~!)
Leaving the Ranch and heading back to the lake. Training at the lake! - We're casting a bunch of times again, each one with the same parameters of the first. This time, though, what gets pulled doesn't matter as much. - We're training Mac on Magikarp, since they only know Splash. If it turns out they can actually really hurt Mac, then we'll do the trusted 'Switch-in-then-switch-to-something-else' maneuver to get Mac some experience. - If there's a Carvanha, then we'll have someone else fight that instead so we don't hurt Mac. - If there's a golden Magikarp that's pulled (somehow), then STOP THE PRESSES THAT'S GOING IN A BALL! - If there's a dragon, then STOP THE PRESSES THAT'S GOING IN A BALL (but I'll probably want to make a new post detailing the catching). - After Mac hits a level that allows him to contend with the Shelmet and Karrablast around the grassy areas, we'll start training on them. - As always, new birds and rare Pokemon are definitely to note.
Lundin’s Fine Establishment was indeed “fine”. They were crowded and tight on space, but Erza eventually found a table for all his Pokémon and himself. Here, different menus for different Pokémon was provided. Meals for plant-eaters, cooked bits for the carnivores, special water for those who live on that, even special bird-seed for Princess. The GM is abstaining from actually describing the food on account of a severe lack of knowledge within the subject, but rest assured they offered something delicious to every single member of the team, and also offered that he could bring some rations along for the road. Erza’s Pokémon had, mostly, definitely not been treated to anything so nice while out in the wild. It’s nice to be pampered, isn’t it? Overall happiness increased!
And so, filled with good food and re-energized to take on the world, the team tracked down the Pokémon Gym!
Erza tracked down the Gym quickly enough. It was an odd sight. In this town for resorts all the surrounding buildings around all seemed homely and inviting, but here was this was a grey warehouse. There were scaffolding covering the side of it, seemingly bent on repairing or maintaining parts of it that were falling apart, and multiple walls showed signs of previous maintenance or just had outright cracks in them. Also, there were loud sounds coming from within the gym. Cries could be heard from within, echoing between the walls. The only thing that looked like a gym about this place was the sign that stood on the outside.
Redcoast Pokémon Gym - Minor League Leader: Hector “The Fighting Challenge-Buster!”
‘Oh? Do my eyes deceive me, or are you a new trainer? No, not just a new trainer… a new Champ-To-Be?’ A guy who had been standing next to the entrance said, looking to Erza and then walking up to him with a smile.
‘Hello, there! I’m the Gym Guy! It’s my job to tell you about the Pokémon League, challenging the gyms and give tips about each specific gym you’re challenging, as well as tell you a little about the leader!’ he said, and then had a lot more to say. It was up to Erza if he wanted to listen or not, but here goes!
‘So, this is, as you no doubt understood already, a Pokémon Gym! The Gyms of Isson is divided into two categories, Minor and Major League Gyms. Each official town and-or city has a Gym waiting for you, which is one of the two! Defeating the challenge of the Gym earns you a Gym Badge, and there are nine Minor and nine Major League badges in Isson. You need eight badges of one kind to compete in the Pokémon League, against others of the same level! The winner of the Pokémon League then gets to challenge Elite Four and potentially the Champion!’
‘The Minor League is primarily for people to grow as trainers, compete in the League and learn more as they complete their Pokémon journeys, as well as for those who find they can’t beat the Major League Pokémon Gyms. The Major League is for those who wants to become the very best! It’s definitely recommended to start with the Minor League, and there’s plenty of rewards for competing in it, too! Good luck!’
‘Winning at the Pokémon League isn’t the only way to get to do the Champion Challenge, though. Any individual the Elite Four or the Champion judges worthy is allowed to fight the Elite Four and possibly the Champion for a chance to take the title! … But the normal way is most certainly to do well in the Pokémon League. Sometimes they even let multiple people who did well in the Pokémon League take the challenge, because the Elite Four aren’t immune to itching for a fight, too. But that’s for the future, back to the present!’
‘You’re here, at your first Minor League Gym! Hector is a user of Fighting-type Pokémon, a powerful type which smashes Rock, Steel, Dark or Normal types apart! But, they’re weak to Flying types, Psychic and Fairy types, so consider your team well! Also consider that Hector’s… well, he’s a bit of an oddball. He doesn’t typically just challenge people to normal Pokémon battles for his Gym challenge. Expect to be given a strange challenge he may or may not have made up on the spot! So, do you feel ready?’
And so, sooner or later, Erza entered the gym and announced his presence.
"I WANT TO TAKE THE GYM LEADER CHALLE-!" "EEVEEEE-!"
‘WELL YOU CAME TO THE RIGHT PLACE THEN!!!’ ‘MACHOOOOOOOOOOOOKE!!!’
Aside from the immediate reply from a man shouting while wrestling with a Machoke, the first thing that hit Erza as he entered was the smell of hard effort, likely to cause anyone used to the more proper class to flee in terror. There was no air-conditioning here, yet it very much felt like he had walked into a real gym, with all the efforts that went into that. Pokémon and people alike were lifting barbells, punching punching bags and sparring hard with different martial arts. Black Belts, Battle Girls and their Pokémon were competing both against one another and against their trainers. Numerous humans were trying to wrestle their Pokémon… with what appeared to be extremely minimal success on account of the strength of the Pokémon, but they were trying.
It quickly became apparent that the maintenance outside was because the residents of the gym were constantly hurting their own buildings. The roof where the chains were attached audibly croaked as the punching bags took superhuman hits, there were cracks all over the walls in places where opponents had been thrown, many of the walls were built out of considerably different materials, likely added later in order to keep the building from completely crashing down on the inhabitants. The screams were quickly confirmed to be either just trainers or Pokémon shouting out before a strike… or crying out in pain after one.
And… so many Pokémon. Yet, there seemed to be little distinction between Pokémon and person, each living being in here collectively trying to become stronger by themselves, using the same machines, using the same methods, and sparring against one another without bothering to think about genetic makeup. Only the detail that the Pokémon were way stronger than the humans.
There were Machops here and there, helping with bringing the larger Pokémon their equipment or training themselves, they seemed to be the helpers of the Gym, mostly.
Pokédex Entry #66 – Machop, the Superpower Pokémon. A Machop is built up by a special muscle, which despite its size makes it stronger than 100 humans and will never tire no matter how much it strains itself. This combined with their general availability makes them a common choice for helping humans with manual labours.
Pokédex Entry #67 – Machoke, the Superpower Pokémon. It is known to help people with extremely tough labour in order to toughen up. It’s muscles is as hard as steel, yet it still needs to wear a belt which holds back its energy in order to not tear itself apart with its own strength. It can pick up a truck with one hand, and will never get tired.
While there were plenty of Machokes, there was only one Machamp, standing looking over the room with pride in his face, four arms flexing.
Pokédex Entry #68 – Machamp, the Superpower Pokémon. It is known as the Pokémon that can supposedly throw 1000 punches in two seconds. Machamps are masters of many martial arts, and with four arms it can strike in many unexpected angles. They’re very quick to action, don’t think before they leap, and are absolutely terrible at any form of delicate task.
There were Hitmonlees kicking and Hitmonchans punching punching bags from different directions…
Pokédex Entry #106 – Hitmonlee, the Kicking Pokémon. It’s legs can stretch and contract for considerable range and its balance means it can kick from any position. After a battle, it rubs its legs to relax the muscles and release the tension. It runs smoothly with long, loping strides.
Pokédex Entry #107 – Hitmonchan, the Punching Pokémon. Said to possess the spirit of a boxer working for world champion. While seemingly resting it can throw punches so quick the eye cannot catch them, and their arms spin when punching to increase power. Trainers need to beware that they need to take pauses to rest every three minutes while fighting.
Medichams either sitting and meditating, some with their trainers, others were joining into sparring.
Pokédex Entry #308 – Medicham, the Meditate Pokémon. A Medicham has, through starvation, meditation and yoga, sharpened its mind to see the auras of others. It has a sixth sense which predicts the movements of its enemies, and fights with graceful dance-like steps to avoid attacks. It can hide its presence by merging itself with fields or mountains.
Throhs and Sawks were both active in the sparring sections, or just training to become more powerful…
Pokédex Entry #538 – Throh, the Judo Pokémon. It is known to make belts for itself out of vines, and increase in power when said belts are tightened. When it encounters a foe larger than itself, a Throh is filled with an irresistible desire to throw its foe. It changes belts as it gets stronger. In the wild, they always travel in packs of five.
Pokédex Entry #539 – Sawk, the Karate Pokémon. They train day and night without sleep in the mountains, seeking the most powerful Karate Chop. Tying their belts make them more fired up and therefore somehow stronger, disturbing a fired-up Sawk in the midst of training will launch them into an insatiable rage against their disturber.
A single Pangoro was walking through the gym, sometimes bellowing at random people or Pokémon who were looking tired, himself seeming to be some sort of motivational figure, as whoever was yelled at immediately redoubled their efforts while the Pangoro wandered on.
Pokédex Entry #675 – Pangoro, the Daunting Pokémon. It is known to be violent in battle, raging forth at enemies like in a berserker rage. To earn the respect of a Pangoro, a trainer will need to learn to fist-fight with it occasionally. It is, however, quite kind-hearted and will defend companions or the weak in the face of oppressors. Twitches in its bamboo leaf somehow allows it to predict an opponent’s moves.
‘DON’T SHOUT WORDS IN THE GYM!’ ‘YEAH, YOU CAN GET THE POKEMON RILED UP!’ ‘HEY, WHAT’S GOING ON!?’ ‘WE’VE GOT A GYM CHALLENGER!’ ‘OH, THERE HE IS! HE’S CUTE! CAN I EAT HIM!?’ ‘BLAST IT, CHARLINE, THIS IS A POKÉMON GYM, DON’T SCARE THE KID WITH YOUR-!’ ‘SAAAAAAAAAAAAAWK!’ ‘MEDICHAAAAAAAAAAM!’ ‘PANGOROOOOOOOOOOO!’ ‘HITMONCHAAAAAAAN!’ ‘MAAAAAAAAACHAAAAAAAAAAAMP!’ ‘GREAT, NOW YOU GOT THE POKÉMON SHOUTING!’ ‘BUT, HEY, THIS IS KINDA FUN, ISN’T IT!?’ ‘QUIET, YOU ALL! IF A POKÉMON LEAGUE EXAMINER SAW US NOW…!’
‘HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA…!’ the man who had originally shouted at Erza laughed, and somehow his laugh quieted the rest, as he got up on his feet after having been decked by his Machoke. He had slightly spiky orange head on the top of his head, but wore nothing on the top of his body, showing off an amazingly muscular body while his eyes focused forward, full of intent and battle-lust while stretching his muscles a bit after the battle, waving them about a bit. He was handed a coat by a Machop, trying to pull it on, wind up his left arm and glare eagerly at Erza all at the same time…
‘Going into a new gym and proudly announcing your intentions, full of vigour and determination? I LIKE YOUR GUTS!’ Hector announced, sounding pleased.
‘NOOOOW… What kind of challenge should I put you throoouuugh…!?’ Hector grinned as he thought, bringing one hand to his chin. ‘First things first! What level are your Pokémon!?’ Hector asked, excitedly. Apparently he was going to keep this in mind.
‘Hey, boss, can I have him!? His face is handsome, makes me want to dip it in soap and wipe the floors with it!’ the same Battle Girl that had made the comment about “eating” Erza asked with a grin.
‘It HAS been a while since we’ve got to challenge challengers…!’ a Black Belt told, giving a bit of a smirk as he did.
‘Oooh? Hmmm… Yeeaah… I got an idea. I GOT AN IDEA! A BRILLIANT IDEA!’ Hector announced, his eyes lighting up.
‘He’s excited about his idea. You’re in for it, now,’ a nearby Battle Girl turned and told Erza with a normal voice, giving him a smile as she did. There were happy murmurs around the gym.
‘LISTEN UP!’ Hector called, and all was silent. ‘You three,’ Hector said, pointing to the three that had just spoken. ‘Prepare two Pokémon each with which to battle our challenger!’
‘Remember that we’re a Minor League Gym, don’t overwhelm the kid,’ a Black Belt said from the back.
‘Pfth. Spoilsport,’ first Battle Girl said.
‘Alright, YOU!’ Hector tells, pointing at Erza. ‘You will face three of my Gym Trainers! They will each use two Pokémon, and against each of them YOU will only use two Pokémon! You can only use each Pokémon in your party against a single Gym Trainer, dividing your team in three! Show me that each section of your team is a mighty combatant in its own right!’
‘After each battle, EVEN IF YOU LOSE, move onto the next trainer! You’re not permitted to heal your Pokémon at any point! So, in the end, after all three trainers, you’re bound to have a group of pretty damaged Pokémon, won’t you? Well…’ Hector grins.
‘That’s when you, along with whatever might have survived of your team, faces ME!’ Hector announced, crossing his arms with determination. ‘After your fierce trials, when hope seems lost and you can only dream of a Pokémon Center around the corner, THAT is when your most horrific of trials materialize! Regardless of what state you’re in when that happens, I want you to FACE IT! TRIUMPH OVER IT! LET ME SEE YOUR DETERMINATION WHILE WALLOWING IN THE DEPTHS OF DESPAIR! LET ME SEE IF YOU HAVE THE GUTS TO EARN YOURSELF MY CHALLENGE BADGE! HAHAHAHAHA…!’ Hector laughed out loud. There’s numerous ‘ooo’s in the audience of gym trainers.
‘Hey! I really like this challenge! I gotta remember it for later!’ Hector says with a grin. ‘Though, you three! Show him ahead of time what Pokémon you’ll be using! That way he can properly strategize what Pokémon to use against each of you!’
‘Aw, no element of surprise?’ pouted the Battle Girl he’d be facing third. ‘Oh, fine, then.’
‘Alright, then!’ called the first Battle Girl. ‘I’m Charline, and I’m taking you on first~!’ she called, happy for some action, bringing out two Pokémon.
Pokédex Entry #307 – Meditite, the Meditate Pokémon. It is found deep in mountains, meditating for hours on end and surviving on a berry a day. It trains its spirit, and by heightening its inner strength it somehow achieved levitation. It also enjoys daily yoga workouts.
‘I’m Dale! I’ll take you on second!’ the Black Belt said, determined to do some damage, with two other Pokémon.
Pokédex Entry #296 – Makuhita, the Guts Pokémon. Its body has a specific makeup that gains energy from being hit. Each time it’s struck down, it rises using the energy from the hit and stores some of the energy for eventual evolution. It loves to toughen its body above all else, happily undertaking harsh training.
Pokédex Entry #453 – Croagunk, the Toxic Mouth Pokémon. Its cheeks hold poison sacks. It tries to catch foes off guard and jab them with toxic fingers. It rarely fights fairly, in order to ensure survival. While poisonous, the fluids from its fingers are significant ingredients in multiple remedies.
‘And I’m Madeline,’ the last Battle Girl said. ‘And I have a special little surprise for you today.’ That said, she let out her two Pokémon.
Pokédex Entry #56 – Mankey, the Pig Monkey Pokémon. It lives in treetop colonies. It is unsafe to approach as it is extremely ill-tempered and can become violently enraged for no reason, and when one of them becomes angry the whole colony follows suit. They are very nimble, escaping an enraged Mankey can be very difficult.
Pokédex Entry #701 – Hawlucha, the Wrestling Pokémon. Although its body is small, its proficient fighting skills enable it to keep up with big bruisers like Machamp and Hariyama. With its wings, it controls its position in the air. It likes to attack from above, a maneuver that is difficult to defend against.
‘Yeah. I have a shiny Hawlucha!’ Madeline boasted.
‘So you do,’ Hector said, in a tone that told that everyone in the room had heard that one before.
‘Now, FIGHT!’
And so, Erza would need to pick out two of his Pokémon to fight each team that the Gym Trainers were putting forward. I implore that those are picked before the following hiders for their battle strategies are opened. Otherwise, go!
Charline’s going to be cheeky and call Meditite to Bide just as Erza commits to the first hit. If Bide hits, Charline will have Meditite attack with a combo of Detect and Power-Up Punches! Pure Power doubles the Meditite’s attack stat!
… Charline’s going to be cheeky and Bide again! After that, Bind… which when it’s a Throh is a much more dangerous grappling move than when it’s any other Pokémon, hah. Otherwise, Power-Up Punch. Inner Focus prevents flinching!
Other than starting with a blindingly fast Fake Out to flinch the enemy, Makuhita will attempt to Sand Attack the opponent into missing to then strike it down with Power-Up Punches. Guts ups attack if under a Status Effect!
Croagunk is going to Mud-Slap to decrease the opponent’s accuracy, and then Power-Up Punch! Anticipation will make it shudder if the opponent has a super-effective move.
Power-Up Punch after Power-Up Punch. The enraged monkey will dart forward with its nimbleness to just punch and punch and punch. Anger Point will raise its attack if it takes a Critical Hit.
This one will intend to entirely sweep you. Power-Up Punch first, then Roost if it gets too damaged, then Power-Up Punch again. Limber prevents paralysis!
Here's a summarization of Skylar's continued fishing luck.
Real talk? Your fishing rolls have been horrible
Still, that was exactly what he was after, wasn’t it?
Wild Magikarps does not have the thought-process to think of Struggling to do damage, they just Splash. Hence, Mac was allowed to Scratch the poor fish with impunity to gain some arguably not-very-well-earned levels.
Mac grew to level 6! Mac learned Ember!
And as soon as Ember was learned, Karrablasts and Shelmets were easy prey, letting Mac combat some more competent enemies for better part of the night in order to get stronger.
Mac grew to level 9!
There, some quick catching up.
And, since Skylar was looking about during the night…
Pokédex Entry #198 – Murkrow, the Darkness Pokémon. Commonly found near forests when it’s dark, they’re feared as alleged bearer of ill fortune upon those who see it. If spotted, it will attempt to lure the chaser onto mountain trials or forests where they’d get lost. It shows strong interest in anything that sparkles, and will attempt stealing it.
Couple Murkrows here and there seeking food and creeping by people’s windows to find things to steal or other things. They were only active when they believed everyone had gone to bed, when they could start their looting. They’d still avoid any humans or Pokémon that proved to be awake, but he could work around this. Skylar had failed to catch the previous Murkrow he had attempted to catch… but perhaps he’d be more lucky grabbing one of these now? He’d need to corner one, first, though.
What would Skylar do, now?

Claire watched with rapt attention as the Dodrios sped along the course. As the Queen began talking, her confidence wilted only slightly, quickly being replaced by a determination to simply desire to prove her wrong, and as luck would have it, she got proved entirely wrong.
"YEAH!" Claire gave a little victory fist pump as she laughed happily as Biscuit crossed the finish line. Ralia followed suit, by using two of Claire's pokeballs as pom-poms to do a little victory dance as Togepi was placed into bowl, enjoying his little makeshift water bath. Claire was too focused on the races to really notice the connection, but Ralia was a bit more perceptive. Tilting her head to the side, she cast a glance from Valarie to Togepi. Well then.
Ralia hopped into the large bowl with Togepi, splashing a bit of water as she walked over, hugging the Togepi.
"Ralts!" She introduced herself, holding her pokeball in her hands. Seemed like she wanted to play catch with it or something.
"Gotta be a little reckless to get anywhere." Claire said with a grin. "I got a little over 1000 to start with. I'm feeling super lucky right now. I won a bike on my first lottery ticket!" The two losses afterwards not withstanding. Turning back to the betting tables, Claire held a hand to her chin. Betting on the same Dodrio again would be silly, and with the things Valarie said at the start of the last one in mind, it was easy enough to decide who to bet on. "Lets see...100 on Empress."

"Oh! Murkrow!" Skylar heard the Pokemon cries in the night and recognized them from the time spent at the farm just a while before. He knew the schtick with Murkrows liking shiny objects, and he needed to figure out if he actually had anything that could work well with that detail.
It wasn't until Mac was poking his head through Skylar's bag, pulling out a 10P coin, that Skylar got an idea. "Hey, good job buddy! That gives me an idea..."
With that, Skylar and the team rushed over to a bit of a bushy and shrubby area in the grassy hill that Skylar was training in. He looked down at Celebrity before talking to her specifically. "Hey Celebrity, wanna go show this team that you're the best at being sneaky by waiting in that bush and Singing to some Murkrow?"
"Jiggly!" Celebrity cockily smirked, waddling over to the bushes and deflating right underneath a small portion of it. To a bunch of passerby, she'd be obscured from vision, hardly noticeable in the dim moonlight. To anyone focused on something else, noticing her hopefully wouldn't be a very easy task.
"Alright, cool. It's time to see if we can set up some bait for the Murkrow." Skylar grabbed hold of where he was keeping his cash, pulling out the last 24P in his bag, amounting to four 1P coins, two 5P coins, and three 10P coins. Overall, he had 7 brand new and shiny coins to be used in catching these Murkrow. Skylar placed the coins down by Celebrity's spot, in a nice open area in a scattered sense, and he stepped away to go to the rest of the team.
"Alright, everyone. Act natural."
Devising a plan to catch a Murkrow. - Gonna set up a trap to corner and encounter one. - Celebrity's waiting in a bush to hit one with Sing, then Disarming Voice to weaken it a little bit. - 7 shiny coins are being used as bait to lure one down. - Skylar and Co. ‘WELL YOU CAME TO THE RIGHT PLACE THEN!!!’ ‘MACHOOOOOOOOOOOOKE!!!’
The beginning of the nightmare had already begun as soon as Erza entered the gym. The man who shouted - whom Erza assumed to be Hector - looked as if he could take down Erza's entire team WITHOUT a pokémon - imagine what his pokémon could do? Swallowing dry, Erza tried to keep his cool as he moved forward, breathing deeply and fighting every sense of instinct that told him to go back through the door. He needed this badge - it was the only rightful payment for his team's hard work.
The place was tense, the smell of sweat and the sounds of trainer and pokémon training together was nearly mesmerizing. Bringing his pokédex out timidly, Erza began scanning the pokémon in the area for information: The entire Machop-line was present, as well as some rare pokémon such as Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan. A Medicham was also present - a pokémon Erza had never seen before, as well as the Judo and Karate pokémon: Throh and Sawk. Lastly, a single Pangoro wandered through and Erza couldn't help but think of how cool this pokémon looked: A real tough, intimidating and certainly powerful pokémon.
There was a bit of conversation/shouting between trainer and pokémon, which made Erza feel a little more intimidated than he already was and the boy was already struggling, his mind racing as he thought about everything told to him about the gym leader up to this point: An eccentric, oddball of a gym leader that would come up with a very frightening and hard challenge for Erza to take. Damn. As much as Erza trusted his pokémon with all his heart and might, it was inevitable that he felt nervous- he could feel sweat forming on his forehead and it wasn't due to a lack of air-conditioner.
Hector laughed - and the gym silenced. The man seemed pleased with Erza's entrance - too bad all that vigor and determination was fighting his nervousness right now.
"Five levels fourteen, one level fifteen." Erza replied while pocketing the pokédex, glancing to his shoulder, where Vee was. A comment from a battle-girl made Erza light up a bit. She was joking, right? Just like she was joking about eating him, yeah? Hopefully...
Three trainers, two each. So Erza would use his entire team - right, apparently, the brilliant idea was that Erza would fight every trainer in here. What about Hector, then?
And just as Erza thought about that, Hector explained the challenge in full. Erza remained silent for a moment, thinking it through. So, after fighting the three gym trainers, without even healing his pokémon - only then, he'd take on Hector himself. Heh. Another glance at Vee, which seemed quite confident, made Erza smirk broadly.
"Oh, yeah?! Well! LET'S GET THIS THROUGH, THEN. All I gotta do is get through the three of you without giving a chance for your pokémon to touch mine. Heheheh..." Easier said than done for sure, but Erza wasn't going back on this. There was even a huge benefit of knowing the three pairs he would have to fight before actually picking his pokémon. Erza whispered on Vee's ear, then returned the normal-type to his pokéball.
Let's see...
First, Meditite and Throh.
Second, Makuhita and Croagunk.
Third and lastly, Mankey and------ What the heck?! A shiny pokémon?! Woah, it was as if destiny was intent on rubbing Erza's inability to catch one for himself.
So,
Against Meditite and Throh, Erza will use Poochyena and Pidgey.
Against Makuhita and Croagunk, Erza will use Budew and Vulpix.
And lastly, against Mankey and Hawlucha, Erza will use Eevee and Flaffy.
"I've selected my teams, let's get this started! Shadowfang, Princess go!"
Now, both pokémon present a huge threat to Shadowfang, since he's a dark-type. Thing is, his bite still deals normal damage to Meditite as it's a psychic/fighting type. Erza will start with Howl, to increase Shadowfang's attack.
Meanwhile, Princess will immediately use gust on Throh.
Now that this turn has passed and Erza realizes the intention of using Bide on both of her pokémon, he switches his tactics and instead orders both of his pokémon to attack Throh. The idea is to get rid of it before it has a chance to use Bide. Princess will go for gust again, while Shadowfang will go for a tackle. Hopefully, this gets rid of Throh.
After that, once again Princess will gust, but Meditite. Shadowfang will go for bite. Until it gets taken out.
Flora and Summer. The combo is fairly simple: Summer's drought+ember straight for Croagunk. Maybe this one has dry skin ability?
Meanwhile, Flora uses growth, amplifying its attacking stats. No idea which one will be targetted by Makuhita's fake out, but whoever it is, Erza will just use the move again.
If hopefully Vulpix manages to burn the toad to a crisp and gets rid of this particular tough pokémon, it will switch to Makuhita. Using confuse-ray on it so hopefully the pokémon hits itself with the increased attack from power-up punch. Budew will stun spore the Makuhita as well, to make it easier to hit and slower as well, then keep mega-draining until it goes down.
Vee and Pharia. Vee uses helping hand on Pharia, Pharia thundershocks Hawlucha for supereffective damage. Does that take it out? If not, next turn, Vee's quick-attacking Hawlucha, hopefully taking it off before it uses roost... But if did get taken out on the first turn just like that, Vee's using baby-doll eyes on Mankey. Pharia goes for Thunder Wave.
Then, Erza quick-attacks Mankey and Pharia goes for thundershock. This repeats itself until Mankey is unable to fight if nothing extraordinary happens.
Togepi looked a bit surprised when Ralia jumped down into the heated bath with him and hugged him, but nonetheless could sense that it was with happy intentions and wanting to play catch. Togepi smiled so happily and innocently.
‘Togepi!’ he called out, raising his tiny arms to play with Ralia.
Meanwhile, Claire put her coins on Empress. Valerie silently watched the situation as it unfolded, analyzing the different candidates with a focused stare…
‘… You’re right,’ Valerie says with a sigh, and then pulled out her wallet… ‘900 coins on Empress,’ Valerie said, placing nine times the funds on the table. ‘For the sake of our bet, we’ll say the both of us started with 1000 coins. Having lost 100, I have 900 left to bet,’ Valerie told, simply.
The race started, and… Grassball stumbled into a pile, Lucky’s taking it easy, Biscuit is still basking in his own success and Zodiac’s heads were squabbling due to their last failure. Empress easily outran the rest and secured a win.
Claire won 140 coins!
… But having bet all 900 of her coins, Valerie won 1260 coins. With that, for the sake of the bet, Valerie has 1260 coins total, and Claire has 1940.
The other competitors are getting a bit more back into the frey. Zodiac’s trainer yelled a bit at the Dodrio heads, and they got themselves back in order. Lucky had taken it easy last race, recharging for a potential spurt. Empress was eager to secure another win-streak. Biscuit saw Empress desire for a win-streak, and two out of three heads got something mischievous in their eyes. Grassball finally got up on actual feet and took three steps back to the starting point.
New order was randomized. From left to right: Biscuit, Lucky, Empress, Grassball, Zodiac.
‘Hmpf, the next one should be a bit more difficult to guess,’ Valerie said, looking over at Claire. ‘Your next bet?’ she asked, focused.
Wet Caverns || Day 3: Late Morning When the Onix roared—and by roared, she meant produced an earth-rattling cry that made her bones tremble—Eryn thought her living days had come to an end. A gross overestimation of her charisma was about to lead to her death at the hands of an extremely large Onix. Thankfully, though, instead of finding herself crushed or trapped in a collapsing cavern, Eryn saw a second Onix emerging from within the tunnels, then a third, and then a fourth and fifth. However, her relief faded when she realized that she was now surrounded by Onix. Though she had an exit waiting for her, what were the chances of her escaping five Onix at once?
When the original Onix opened its mouth for a second roar, Eryn closed her eyes, hugging Dei and bracing herself, but Dei shifted in her arms, prompting her to reopen her eyes. Instead of coming together to ritualistically bludgeon her to death, it seemed the Onix had gathered to discuss what to do with her. And, since she couldn’t understand a single sound being made at this point, she directed her gaze down to Dei, whose eyes were fixed on the biggest Onix with wary attentiveness.
“Please tell me we’re not going to die,” Eryn whispered.
Dei flicked his tail, and Eryn traced his gaze to the Onix beside the biggest one, who’d produced an egg from the shadows while shooting Eryn a displeased look. Eryn, though, hadn’t noticed, her jaw down as she stared at the egg that had been deposited in front of her. It took Dei whacking her with the side of his tail to snap her out of her staring, and she immediately swapped to a grin, which she took note to drop a few degrees of intensity off in order to not seem as utterly delighted as she was.
Clearing her throat, she met the main Onix’s eyes with a slightly-dimmed grin. “Thank you so much Mr. Onix! I promise that I’ll do my best to train this Onix to be the strongest out there—maybe even stronger than you, but that’s the dream,” she said, backtracking with a sheepish grin.
Then, meeting the scornful gaze of the Onix who had handed her the egg, she composed herself with a more solemn expression. “Thank you, Ms.—Ms. Onix. Don’t worry, your kid will be safe with me. I’m pretty fragile compared to him, after all.”
She attempted a laugh but quickly realized that the mother Onix wasn’t laughing along. So, with some more awkward thanks to all the other Onix present as well as a final goodbye to Ms. Diglett and a casual remark to Eri to note the Diglett and Onix’s forms—because who knew the limits to his shapeshifting powers—Eryn traded Dei for the egg and set off out the makeshift exit. With her back to the Onix, her face-splitting grin had appeared again, but it relaxed as she stared at the egg while walking. Was there a way to tell if an egg was about to hatch? The egg itself looked rather standard, with an impeccable surface marred only by indents that mimicked the surface of the Onix’s natural habitat.
A crash behind her sent her shooting up into the air, and she looked back half-expecting to see the horde of Onix coming at her. Thankfully it appeared that it was only her exit being collapsed behind her, and though Eryn was a little disappointed she wouldn't be able to have her own "secret entrance" now, she figured she had too much to be grateful for to care. And, having concluded that she would indeed live to see another day, she refocused on the egg with a hearty sigh.
“Egg hatching, well, we can get the egg checked at the Pokemon Center!”
She looked to Dei and Eri with a smile. Dei had adopted a sort of apathetic exasperation by now whereas Eri nodded and smiled at her in her form. Neither appeared to have a negative reaction to the introduction of the egg, which was a plus in her book.
“Oh, Eri, you wanna hold it?” Eryn asked, offering the egg out to Eri, whose eyes widened as she did. He shook his head, and when Eryn frowned, he waved one hand through the other.
“Woah! Woah, Arceus, what… What was that?”
Eryn rounded on Eri, reaching out to touch her double, and just as she’d seen, her hand went through Eri’s arm as if there were nothing there at all. It took her some more staring and another hand pass or two before she nodded, sighing.
“Yeah, got it. This form is an illusion, which explains why your ability is called ‘Illusion.’”
After another moment of consideration, though, Eryn dropped her frown for a grin again. “Hey, drop the illusion, Eri.”
As soon as Eri did, a funny look on his face as he stepped towards her as his normal self, Eryn scooped him up and held him beside the egg, smooshing them together in her arms.
“Alright, dunno how long I can keep this up, but let’s get to the Pokemon Center before I find out. You think you can keep up, Dei?” Eryn asked, glancing back at the Charmander. When he nodded, she grinned, taking off up the hill towards Lakewatch Town. Obviously she didn’t get too far before she was forced to set down Eri and just hold the egg alone, but whatever. By the time she’d reached the town proper, she’d already narrowed down possible names for the Onix. Dumont if they were a boy and Peri they were a girl, or Monty and Per-per, as she’d taken to cooing at the egg.
In the Center while she was waiting for a nurse to check on her egg for her, Eryn struck up some conversations with the people around her, inquiring about the sorts of Pokemon around the town. Specifically, she looked for information on Pokemon her team would be effective against but weren’t too far away to travel to. Then, after that, she quickly made her way to Route 5 to begin a walking and training until the egg hatched because, after all, it was an Onix, and an Onix would be pretty sweet to have on the team with a little training.
Actions: Accepted the egg (of course) and moved onto Lakewatch Town, where she healed her Pokemon and got her new egg checked out (while sneaking in some casual conversations about what sorts of Pokemon were on Route 14, Route 5, Route 6, and in the Frozan Cave). After that, she'd move onto training on Route 5, where she’d first throw in Tula, then switch for her “most effective” Pokemon against whatever is there, running back to town to heal whenever necessary. She’ll do this until either the egg hatches or until levelling efficiency plateaus, at which point she’ll look around for some trainers to battle.

Haha, another win!
A small one, but Claire would take it.
"Yes!~" That said...she was gonna have to start making the big plays if she was gonna make enough bank to beat Valarie here. She was winning, but even the slightest bit of a slip up could send her to the losing zone. The redhead, briefly looked over the racers, frowning a bit as she made her decision.
"Haha, we'll see about that. My Luck's not going anywhere!" Claire grinned excitedly. "Alright! 500 on Lucky." Biscuit was likely gonna be going for Empress, all things considered. Empress was likely good to win, but if Biscuit was able to interfere, then there was a decent chance she'd get caught up in it...which also meant he would have to go through Lucky, but that was a chance she was willing to take for the win. Ralia, was yes, still playing with Togepi, tossing the pokeball back and forth for a bit while the next race began, splashing a bit of water about and otherwise causing a small bit of mischief.
