I prefer finding them on my own as well - that's part of the fun of it of course.
However, I just think its a good idea. For one, well, not every trainer is just going to catch every single pokemon that crosses their path. Some aren't all that inclined to intelligently search for some either *cough* claire *cough*, so it'd put them at a bit of a disadvantage. Plus, when I saw that Pancham there I was really excited about it. Also a bit wary, because that meant the grace of GM whimsley gave me a second pokemon so early, which meant I was probably gonna be getting rekt by something in the future xP
But eh, that's fine. Was mostly just curious about it, it's not a huge deal. I'll be coming up with a list regardless so I just have a general idea of what Claire would use. She's probably not going to be catching a whole lot of pokemon. She has no idea what she wants anyways, since she doesn't exactly have a type xD
@Rune_Alchemist I would like to point out that finding Pokémon is an integral part of the game design, so of course someone who isn't actually looking for the Pokémon will have a disadvantage. I warn that the gyms will not be pushovers like in the games, and they might have unreasonable challenges that'll test the adaptability of the Trainers. Maybe that'll serve as incentive to search for suitable Pokémon? Haha. Well, we'll see what happens.
@Delta44 A little dragon, eh? Heh. With only two of the rarer types as weaknesses and resistances towards four more common types, that's one heck of a type to start with. The Fairy type made their weaknesses a little more common, but that's going to be a considerable advantage at the start. Ice and other Dragon types typically don't show up until later, after all. Heh. Well, in exchange, it's not going to evolve in a LONG while! XD
I did the thingy. Sleepy. Procrastined for like the whole day very skillfully. Should be okay. ish.
Dawkin Trustram
Dawkin isn't terribly tall, standing at 5'6. He has red hair, green eyes, and very clear, somewhat pale, skin. He doesn't look very muscular but is stronger than he appears. He usually wears a black hoodie, a pair of gray sweats or black shorts, and plain looking white tennis shoes.
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Personality: Dawkin is a somewhat prideful individual. He's good at many things and seeks acknowledgment for his skills. He's a go getter, if he wants something he'll do what he needs to get it. Dawkin is also fairly good at setting long term goals, as well as obtaining them. He can be hasty if he feels his skills are called into question, but in general he's a patient person. Dawkin would place his own goals above other people, he values friends, just not as much as his own success. Usually he comes off as friendly self-confident guy, who's maybe a little over commited to winning.
Hometown: Pureplain City
Background: Living in a family with 6 brothers and being the middle child, sometimes you just wanna stand out. As a result Dawkin became very good at, well just about everything. Not as an overnight decesion or anything, he wasn't a miracle child. Rather it became clear to him that many people are good at one thing and stand in that way, as many of his siblings do. But the true way to stand out would be to stand out in everything. So Dawkin was more than a model child. He took out the trash, washed the dishes, kept his room clean, did well in school, all without being asked. He did community service, organized a public event or two, and even worked. Still, all this earned him little more than a passing, 'good job', that was no different than what his brothers recieved. So he decided to go on a Pokemon Journey. After all, wouldn't becoming a Pokemon Master in such a region give him undenyable recongnition?
Kind of Pokémon you like: Rare Ones, either actually rare or just ones that aren't used a lot.
Quirks/Talents/Aspirations/Other: Terrible at lying. Absolutly hates losing. Knows an awful lot of miscellaneous skills.
Items: 1x Potion.
Pokédollars: 500p.
Aronfor now Gender: Male
Species: Aron Level: 5 Personality: A stubborn and sometimes disagreeable little fellow, he likes eating. A lot. He's smarter than he looks and can be quite devious in order to get what he wants. Quirks/Talents/Aspirations/Other: Fill in as we go. Probably Moves: Tackle, Harden, Mudslap Ability: Sturdy. Allows the pokemon to survive an attack that would otherwise knock it out. Held Item:
@Eklispe Well done. I can see you're sleepy, but fortunately, I doubt the personality section will be something that contains anything terrible. There's nothing that mentions Kalmia intending to give him a Pokédex, but I can totally see why she'd give one to this dutiful young local kid that intended to go on a Pokémon Journey anyway. Yupp.
You can fill in the personality-section when you feel you can. Honestly, it's not that important a section, we'll just respond to how you portray him in the game, anyway. Dawkin is accepted~
And oh, while Pureplain is a city and therefore larger than so that everyone would logically know one another, you kids are totally free to decide among yourselves that you know one another if you want to, if you can reason out a reason for that to make sense. Yupp.
And oh, while Pureplain is a city and therefore larger than so that everyone would logically know one another, you kids are totally free to decide among yourselves that you know one another if you want to, if you can reason out a reason for that to make sense. Yupp.
Well, Claire just moved from Kalos not so long ago, so people may not know her xD
I'd be fine working out some relationships, though~
@Delta44 Honestly, I thought I had covered all three-step mainly-dragonic Pokémon families with the "No Psuedo-Legendaries" rule, but I see now that the "hax" family slipped my mind. Haha. Still. It's the rules I put down. I'll allow you to have him if you want to~
I knew I forgot something. I'll fix it when I can get on something other than my phone. Also up to being pals with whoever. Thanks for the preemptive accept though. ^.^
OK, yes, I know Ren's backstory is a bit dark, however keep in mind she was based mainly on N, and his backstory includes kidnapping, slavery, brainwashing and, quite possibly, a loss of loved ones at a young age too :P Edited the app where applicable and got rid of Giratina from the app, just to make it a lot more open.
Name: Ren Moyra
Ren is a 17 year-old female trainer whose heritage stems from an offshore island smack dab in the middle of nowhere. She stands at 5'2, and weighs only 51kg. She has an extremely light and underdeveloped build, making her seem much younger than what she really is, much to her annoyance.
Sex: Female
Personality:
Creepy.
That's the one word that best describes Ren. Creepy. There are plenty of other words which greatly describe Ren, too: cynical, logical, sadistic, competitive, ambitious, and cold being among them. Whereas many trainers are hot-headed and confident, Ren is quite the opposite. Calm. Thinking. Silent. Like a hunter stalking it's prey, the seventeen year-old has a tendency to form complex strategies in short amounts of time. Though of course, if the situation were too difficult to forge a plan, gut feeling is best.
Funnily enough, many people actually mistake Ren as a boy due to her blunt and upfront nature, plus somewhat scratchier voice. In many ways Ren is smarter than most intelligence-wise, however lacks in social skills and isn't well educated in society. Speaking of, she has some very opinionated views on such topics or things that may be controversial, and, although is open to change her opinions or views on the world, it'll take some incredible persuasion to do so.
She also hates normal, girly things, and loves things like occult studies and lore.
Hometown: Offshore Island
Biography:
A tragic accident. A lone survivor. The tale is told many times, though rarely do these tales become reality.
At least, until now.
Ren Moyra was a victim of a tragic, mysterious event. One day, on her little island in which she grew, the floor opened up and simply... well, swallowed it whole! As strange as it sounds, that's the best way Ren can describe it: her home was eaten up by a darkness so incredible, there was nothing left of the area she called home. Even the sea needed to be evened out again, as a significant amount of water was swallowed up by the darkness.
Ren was hardly offshore when it happened. Going on an excursion with her grandfather to the mainland to do some trading at the marketplace, the two were stunned as their former home sunk into nothingness, never to be seen again.
Parents? Gone. Friends? Dead. Home? Obliterated.
There was nothing. She had nothing. Ren became nothing. Everything up to that point in her life had been for naught. All the fun times shared, and memories made, were wasted in an instant.
And all she could blame was the large, mysterious dragon which made it's way into the sky afterward. She didn't get a good look of this dragon, mind you. It's silhouette was all that could be seen in the midday sun. All she knew was that this was no ordinary Pokemon. This Pokemon was special. It was stronger than almost all others. Later, she found out that there was a classification for such Pokemon:
Legendary.
Following the event, Ren and her grandfather left for the mainland, and saved up enough to buy a small apartment with their limited funds. Considering Ren's grandfather could not work all that hard, Ren was forced to grow a backbone and work to make money while educating herself on... well, just about anything, really, though she took a shine to legends and mythology, namely legendary Pokemon. Her main drive in these studies was to find the creature whom destroyed her home, and find a way of drawing it out, perhaps with the help of another legendary Pokemon.
The study-work combo lasted right on through till Ren was sixteen, when she finally found what she was looking for. The creature which took everything from her. The monster which robbed her of everything and left behind nothing.
... Unfortunately, it had no name.
Though her hatred remained, Ren couldn't help but be fascinated with this Pokemon in particular. A creepy obsession over it. She both loved it and absolutely despised it at the same time, something not many trainers can experience, at least not on her magnitude. Legendaries had always caught Ren's eye, but this... this was something special.
Shortly after her discovery, her grandfather passed away. Though her feelings for the man weren't especially great, she still loved him, and the experience shook her up. After all, he'd been with her all this time, so how could she not? However, she soon came to realise that if one were to bury their emotions, pain becomes a non-existent factor. No more suffering, and definitely no more crying. And so she buried. After both ceremonies were complete, Ren had a long, hard think about life and it's meaning. Not life in general, but her life and what it has amounted to. 'Jack shit,' was the crude way of putting it. Her life, up until this point, had been pretty much meaningless. She didn't know what she was doing, or why she was doing it. The only time she truly became aware of herself was when she studied, and she knew she couldn't study for a living...
... Though she could become a Pokemon trainer and study in the field, learning more of the world outside.
The thought would've intimidated her if her emotions still existed, though once they'd been drowned out, nothing would stop her from moving forward. And so, after selling the house and getting an ample supply of essentials, money and other such items (not that one could get much with their cheap shack anyways), Ren began her journey to see Prof. Kalmia in Pureplain City, to begin her Pokemon journey.
Kind of Pokemon You Like: Dragons are her favourite type, though Ren does quite enjoy variation.
Items: 1x Potion
Pokédollars: 500p
Quirks/Talents/Aspirations/Other: Tends to look down on others, and sees herself as more knowledgeable on the subject of Pokemon than most. Likes studying Pokemon mythology, though has no real idea of what she wants to do. Talks too much. Has a secret thing for sweets.
Pokémon Name: Shyn, the Shinx!
Physical Appearance: Shyn's hair is exceptionally long for a Shinx, probably due to the fact that anyone whose ever approached him wielding scissors was electrocuted. (Standard appearance below.)
Sex: Male ♂
Personality/Mood: Shyn's an odd little feller; a perfect fit to the similarly strange Ren Moyra. He doesn't really say a whole lot and can be exceptionally lazy at times, unless in a battle, which is when he's most hyper. The little electric doggo-wolf-thing is something of a masochist, and likes seeing others get angry out of spite. Though a little lonely, the pup ups his spirits through practical jokes on others, and as a result doesn't make a whole lot of Pokefriends. In fact he's better around humans than his own kind, being the product of a spoiled family and lab-dog, so he's a little more intelligent than most.
Quirks/Talents/Aspirations/Other: Likes reading (he can read picture books), eating, battling, taking pain, and having long, stylish hair. He hates hair cuts, crap food, and pretty much everything else aside from battling. Wants to evolve into a powerful Luxuray and have plenty of pretty Luxio babes wanting him.
Starting Moves: Tackle, Leer
Ability: Intimidate - Lower's the opponents attack by 1/4 when switched in. Can't be used multiple times on the same Pokemon.
@Delta44 *stares at Ren's story* ... ... ... *stares at plot-documents* ... ... ... *looks back at Ren's story again* ... ... ... *looks back at plot-documents again* ... ... ... Oh, dear.
I like to let people play what they like. As long as it's not the majority of the cast, a somewhat darker past is entirely alright. It's just not going to influence to tone of the adventure. Haha. Besides, it'll give the rest of the cast something to bounce their personalities against~
In any case. Ren is accepted~
Oh, by the way. The mention of teams made me think about that. You guys can form groups any way you like. After having received your Pokémon, you can all go off in different directions (well, eventually, as there are only two routes out of Pureplain, haha), or you can all travel in a single group, or anything in between, all as you like. I'll adapt depending on what you do in that matter. But, it'll be more fun if you're in some form of groups, right?
On another note, I have only one more confirmed player from Pokémon: One that intends to enter. I may need to open the floodgates to the public to make us at least six players, though if I do that we'll likely quickly fill up to the maximum of nine. Haha.
@PlatinumSkink No sir! Though she might be rather condescending (and a little creepy), there will be very little darkness ^-^ Maybe if the plot thickens, though even then I think we'll keep it relatively... *puts glasses on*
@Delta44 Yeeeeaaaah... Um, post Ren in the character-tab. Haha.
By the way, I take the silence as complete acknowledgement about that I open for some more players. We have four created characters and I know one person who's making one, but I want at least six characters. So, this roleplay's join-status is now "Apply" for at least one and at most four more players. There.
So I've been interested in this RP for a while now but saw you were accepting your old cast first. So now you're letting the public apply, may I join? I'll get straight on the character sheet but I do have a question, do you need a image of your character ? Or have you all just grabbed images off the internet that are similar to your characters?
Ok, dumb question done, I'll get to work on my character sheet.
@Pyromaniacwolf I do not know how the rest made their characters, but when I make a character I go "Hm, I want to play THIS kind of character!" and then go seek an image that suits my needs, and then I fine-tune the rest of the character so it suits the image. It varies how much I have made of the character before I get the image, but by now I'm at a stage where I don't really feel my character is complete without an image.
As for if you need an image or not, I've said it is encouraged. As you've no doubt noticed, everyone else so far has one. I use safebooru to find suitable images most of the time, and I usually include the "original" tag in my search to not get any images of characters from anime/manga/games/otherwise. I use anime-images because, well, Pokémon is drawn with anime-graphics. But, I'm a fan of letting people play as they like. If you don't want to have an image, that is totally fine too.
I'm happy to hear of your interest~
Edit: ... And I totally acknowledge the difficulty of finding images of male characters using these means... XD
@Delta44 Why stop listening to something that you like? Embrace it. Enjoy it. Let it in.
@PlatinumSkink yeah that website helped and I think I've found an image that is pretty much perfect. Anyway I'll continue with my CS and it should be up soon...just need to sort his background out and a few details.
Edit: Just gonna pop my CS here to avoid double posting, hope I haven't missed anything! @PlatinumSkink

He is amoral, and sees the world as it is, he isn't really concerned about the consequences of his actions on others, although he can empathise and help people he grows fond of, although the people who fit into this category are few and far between.
