Name: Jinayah Ifriti
Allias: Orbit
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Parents: Richard Ifriti and Yumiko Takahashi (both deceased) / Slade Wilson (adopted dad)
Powers and abilities:
Telekinesis – Jin has inherited the ability of telekinesis (TK) from her mother. She can lift upwards of 300 pounds while on the ground, and far less so while airbborne as her own weight is factored in. Anything after that gets difficult, and Jin starts to get migraines and nosebleeds. Jin is downright incapable of any fine control with her power, however. While her mother could use her mind to turn a key in a car ignition, Jin would probably wind up moving the entire car.
TK Fighting – Orbit focuses her power and aims a punch or kick at the same time, attacking a point both physically while increasing the force with telekinesis. This increases their strength ten-fold. It is also very draining.
Burst Jump - Jin uses her TK to basically shoot herself off the ground. She can achieve high distances, but unfortunately doesn't really have a good grasp of it. She may easily push herself too high altogether and miss what she's aiming for.
Mechanical and tech genius – Jin loves to fix vehicles and machines, and dabbles in refurbishing and upgrading these in her spare time. Computers are more of a side hobby. She prefer being able to work on the hardware rather than the software because hacking isn't nearly as rewarding.
Numbers Nerd – Jin seems to have an almost innate understanding of high level math and physics. This is something she uses to help her “fly”, as she calculates how much force she'll need to increase her speed. It also helps her have excellent aiming skills with guns and thrown weapons, as she's able to rapidly calculate distance, force, etc, seemingly instantly. It's not completely perfect, though – Jin still has to be able to see what she's aiming at, and if the thing she's trying to hit is mathematically impossible, nothing is going to fix that.
Hand to hand combat – Jin knows the basics of various forms of combat. However, in an actual fight, she doesn't actually have any particular set style. Most of the time she just devolves to inelegant brawling.
Weaponry – Jin can handle a few weapons, but aside from having damn good aim, she really hasn't landed on the right one for herself.
Equipment:
Tech suit – Orbit's armor, built by her and her father. It's made of light material, but wired with small emitters. Those emitters are set to a frequency to match Orbit's weapons. While she can use her TK to boost them, she much prefers to use the transmitters and signal to them to open or close, even fly in set patterns.
Blade orbs – Heavy metallic orbs that either can be used as blunt weaponry, or opened up remotely into razor sharp projectiles. Orbit manipulates them via transitters embedded within her gloves.
Personality: Jin is an energetic tomboyish young woman. She lacks certain social graces, and is extremely blunt most of the time. She grew up a little bit isolated, and is rather unaware of how to make friends or really deal with people her age in a normal context. Jin also tends to emote quickly, especially toward anger. However, it can vanish just as quickly. When Jin likes something, it's obvious, as she'll sink into a sort of focused trance. This is most obvious when she's working on tech- she'll forget regular meals (and occasionally showers). When she doesn't have a project, however, Jin tends to be a little bit distractable. Slade suspects she has ADD, but Jin utterly refuses to be tested.
Bio: Jin is the daughter of Richard Ifriti, a detective, and Yumiko Takahashi, a retired assassin. Yumiko worked in Japan for most of her career with a group known as the “Death Camas”. She used her powerful and subtle telekinesis, along with a well-honed katana, to rise to the top of the ranks in her group. It was during this career that she met Deathstroke. They became allies, and they got along well enough that they worked together whenever Deathstroke had to take contracts in her region in Japan. However, the killing life grew empty for Yumiko. While still at the top of her career, she quit without warning, vanishing from the Death Camas group and starting fresh in the US with a little assistance from Slade.
Yumiko and Richard met after she was “retired”. He was a well-regarded and intelligent homicide detective, and she had taken a job as a court bailiff. They fell in love, and stayed together even after Yumiko divulged the whole truth of her past and powers to him. They married happily, and eventually had a baby girl named Jinayah.
Yumiko's past came back to bite them all when the Death Camas came knocking. After a brutal battle, Yumiko and Richard were both killed, but not before taking the assassins with them. This was lucky- Deathstroke found the last assassin had bled out on the stairs, barely 6 feet from where a now 5-year old Jinayah had taken refuge in a closet. He'd come too late to save his old friend, but decided to repay his debt by taking in her daughter. He knew that the Camas would never let the child live if she was left alone. Also, she tried to stab his hand with a kitchen knife when he opened the closet – he saw promise in the girl and didn't want her to be wasted in some orphanage.
Slade Wilson was not the best father, but the two eventually warmed up to each other. He trained her well, eventually explaining to her that he would allow her to take revenge on her parents' killers, and take on contracts when she was old enough, and skilled enough. Jin liked this idea very much.
When Jin was about 15, Naka appeared in their lives, claiming to be her father's biological daughter. Jin was a little upset by this. She was pretty sure this girl was an impostor, but eased up when Naka passed the various tests that Slade had put her through as well over the years. She was closed off at first, not really knowing how to deal with another girl her age, but eventually warmed up and happily calls Naka “onee-san”.
Deathstroke decided to send both girls to the Academy. Partially so he could get back to work without having to worry about them, and partially so they could pick up new skills and even future contacts. Jin's downright excited about the opportunity, especially to take courses that will help her fine tune her telekinesis.
Extras: Jin is dyslexic and has difficulty reading. She will do everything she can to hide this fact, as it makes her feel "stupid". Only Naka and her father know. Jin makes up for the difficulty by recording her lessons with a hidden audio device, and has downloaded several programs that will dictate textbooks to her. Aside from math symbols, her handwriting is atrocious. She also has insomnia that creeps up every now and again.
