That is what I would do, but most people regard anything anyone else posts as fact, and get really pissy about changing things in other people's posts, as I recently discovered.

so people get pissed at us for expecting them to be responsible for their chars?
thewizardguy said
Nope. They get pissed because they expect you not to create rules. It's like a social rule, whereby you don't change someone else's post. Personally I also find it quite weird, but that's the way people expect it to work, and they get pissed when you suddenly diverge from that.

... odd... one would expect (at least through my logic) that you can't force others to do something without plausible reason so if i were to say do something like *stabs you with a knife with "mr. stabby" carved into the handle* then you could dodge or block or counter in some way if you had a plausible reason... instead of basically saying "here is my face. slide your knife into it repeatedly before i rage because i sat there and let it happen"
thewizardguy said
That makes sense to me, however, that is why people rage when you say 'I stab you in the face.' Instead, you're expected to say. 'I TRY and stab you in the face.' which means the other person can block without contradicting your post.

Ok. I've had my drink. I'm not mad. It's just... You're probably not going to change the way you've been doing things for years but, It would behoove you to use subjective language. Like, "attempts to," or "aims at," or, "will do X unless anything stops him," etc. And especially don't follow up an attempted action with any subsequent action. If you open a pit on the floor, don't also throw a bomb down the hole, because you don't know if the person actually fell or not. Just keep in mind whether or not you're going to be perceived as rude by the other person. Their character may be a god or something, but you blithely assume they aren't. That's pretty insulting. I'm going to assume my words fall on deaf eyes. Still, these free rp's are very loosely monitored and very divergent from logic and coherence. I don't take them seriously. I haven't decided if I want to play in them or not, because of people like Tyki, making them a bad place for the rest of us. I won't contend where I'm not having fun. I'll just jet and go where people are worth typing to.

Actually, his style of writing has become the norm here. This thread was originally formed from a group that roleplayed on YouTube. At first it was just me and someone else called Singefeather having an incredibly silly roleplay, the first online roleplay I was ever in. Then others joined in with the fun, and the stories grew more an more complex. As such, me, Tyki, and the others had our own styles and methods of doing things when we came to this forum. We'd simply grown into this from a different place, and our way of roleplaying was adapted only to the others in our group, who all understood the rules among each other. I myself often write in the method Tyki uses, although I try and change it outside the thread, but I don't always succeed.
