Just looked it up. The first mission in HOTS is called Lab Rat. Kerrigan commands a small group of zerg to break out of a facility, after which she can reconnect to the Hive.

...wait, where did they get the biomass needed to evolve psionic blasts power...also, I said you could have the zerg...I am going to need to nerf the somewhat. They can adapt, but it requires a long time ((like in the game.))

i've thought about that and have already acounted for them. they enter a morph similar to banelings or lurkers to applie the changes but it takes a minute or two :P
