Once, you were a human. Maybe you were a salary man, or a kid on a skateboard, or a third-grade english teacher. Doesn't really matter though, you're dead now. As quickly as your soul is placed into darkness, it is pulled back out. Quite uncomfortable, I can imagine. Light and sounds accelerate, and your eyes crack open for the first time, in a new body.

Congratulations, you're a Goblin.

Born in a small, remote tribe in a forested island, lacking any knowledge of your geography, you are thrust into the world. While only a newborn, the instinct and basic abilities of your kind are ingrained into you. How to communicate, how to hunt, what you must do to survive, as well as inherent information to your new world. This is your life, this is your mind. The memories of your previous life, your previous world, they exist but merely as a hazy dream with the conclusion forgotten. With time, sufficient experience and growth will open the option for you to evolve from a goblin to a different branch of monster, but this will depend on your own ability.

Just one thing sets this new batch of Goblin juveniles, your clan, apart from the rest. A single facet of their souls, a single "skill" retained from their past life that they do not even know they had. Perhaps an affinity for a rare kind of magic, perhaps a propensity to lead, perhaps the knowledge of a language they don't recall learning. Will this mistake in the cycle of reincarnation lend them the power to break past their limits, or will they simply fall like wild beasts to the onslaught of the world?

Preview

Name: Well? No last names though, because you aren't special yet.
Gender: Male or Female
Appearance: You're a green-skinned, four foot tall, ugly piece of work. As such, this section is optional, but if you want to mention some distinguishing factors, feel free. I won't demand a properly full description though. Also, I don't usually say this, but I'd rather you don't put an image, considering everything. Don't worry though, with Evolutions, your appearance can drastically change.

Personality: Describe how your character thinks, acts, and feels. Don't skimp on this.
Past Life History: This isn't that important, compared to how important it usually is, but you still need to fill this up. Considering that the memory of this will be hazy, "growth" that occurred during your past life won't be present, hence why you're largely a blank slate with some human-ness left. If you had a traumatic experience and became afraid of the dark, you won't have that trauma here. If you were born afraid of the dark, though, then you will. As such, the only real reason this section exists is for flavor, and to justify your Gift. Keep it brief.

Talent:You get one. These abilities you were born with, as a result of your past life. If you were an English teacher, maybe you innately know the human language somehow, despite not knowing what a human is. If you were a creepy occultist, maybe you have a rare magic affinity. Maybe you were a professional fighter, so you'd be naturally be physically gifted or skilled in combat. Just be reasonable, and don't pick anything that makes you broken from the start.

Rank Up System

Hider

Levels - A rough gauge for the strength of an individual of that race or job. Level is increased by learning new skills, defeating stronger enemies, or even simple tasks like creating or disassembling tools. The fastest and most sure method to leveling up is defeating enemies who are more powerful than you or at your appropriate level. Every monster knows his or her own level, but cannot gauge an enemy's level immediately without a proper skill. This is important for those who wish to keep their level hidden. The max level is 100 for an individual species which, upon being reached, allows for them to "Rank Up" into another strong species.

Rank Up/Evolving - Monsters like Goblins, Imps, Orcs, etc, etc. all have the option of advancing into a new species. The species being evolved into depends on the criteria that an individual meets and certain evolutions are only available if certain requirements are met. Upon Ranking Up it is common for monsters to gain access to powerful abilities they previously hadn't been able to use. This is especially true for Variants or specialist evolutions.

Common Examples

• Level 100 Goblin ---> Level 1 Hobgoblin
• Level 100 Imp ---> Level 1 Demon

Uncommon Examples

• Level 100 Goblin ---> Level 1 Hobgoblin Variant
• Level 100 Imp ---> Level 1 Demon Variant

In the case of these uncommon examples, the Goblin had the talents for Magecraft and Strength along with the skills "Swift Swimming" and "Extreme Lung Capacity". This caused the Goblin to evolve into a Hobgoblin Variant with blue skin and the "Water Magic" talent. This may or may not lead to this Hobgoblin to evolve into the race "Half-Spell Lord Variant" with a more specialized aptitude in Water Magic.

While Variants tend to be rarer and more powerful, becoming a regular Hobgoblin would not hinder one's growth. Some could say that not choosing a specialization may even make one more powerful in the long run because they would have more choices for their Rank Up as they level up. It is also important to note that some species do not have the ability to continue evolving. These species tend to make the monster more closely related to humans and instead gain the ability to make use of the "Job System". This is a system that only humans use and is considered inferior when it comes to overall potential, but many believe it to be stronger when in the hands of an evolved monster. The Job System will be explained when the information is come across in the RP or if someone decides to take this route and has reached their maximum evolution.

Glumwort

Name: Glumwort
Gender: Female

Appearance: Glumwort is an ugly muddy green verging on offensive. She is reminiscent of swamp bile, a concortion of greens with hints of browns and purples that maker her look covered in recently blossoming bruises as if she was an abused wife or something. It's just a skin condition, ok? She has a head of dark purple hair that she wears up in sticky-up pigtails that threaten to poke your eye out and are probably breaking physics with their defiance of gravity.

She's a little on the short side, slightly plump and has a tendancy to waddle. Menacingly. Menacingly waddle.

Personality: Glumwort is loud, annoying and offensive. She likes to speak her mind and she hates what you have to say. It's stupid. She believes she knows best and you better agree with her, otherwise she will go full out volcanic on you. Her temper is searing and unending, and theres no sign that it's coming - it's suddenly just there and in your face and there's little hope of qualming it, unless you tell her she is beautiful and lovely regardless of whether it makes sense in context, and then she'll probably stop.

Despite her obnoxious nature Glumwort is fiercely intelligent, but she only applies this talent to rip into people six ways to sunday. She has an air of supremacy and believes herself to be surrounded by morons, but her achilles heel is her vanity. Despite all of this, Glumwort believes herself to be a mother hen character, and it is utterly terrifying to even think for a second that she is treating you with "motherly love". The only conclusion you can draw from this is that if Glumwort ever reproduced, she would devour her own young.

Past Life History: In her previous life she worked at managerial level in the fashoin and publishing industry and those who worked under her were petrified of her. She was a fierce competetor, notorious for getting employees to quit, and yet her division was prolific and successful. Apart from how sometimes, stuff would go missing from both the office supplies and inventory. No one knows why.

It was long known that she was a completely manipulative snake and probably sleeping with the boss of the company, and yet everyone was too scared to bring up any of her frequent and dirty underhanded tactics.

Level: 1

Talent: Glumwurt has a knack for delicate social manouvering. delicate meaning making people cry, inspiring the purest sense of terror into the hearts of those around her, underhanded and backward political tactics, and generally traumatising and ruining the lives of all she opens her mouth to. It is her calling. If you are particularly unlucky, she may attempt to flirt with you. The last known victim of such an event is still a babbling agoraphobe to this day.

Simma

Name: Simma
Gender: Female
Appearance: Simma is rather short compared to regular goblins. She is about two-thirds the height of an average goblin and has a slightly lanky figure. She has a rather babyish face and short, black hair. Her skin is a very depressing shade of grey-green, like the saturation just ran up and left.

However, these appearances don't quite matter because Simma constantly wears large rags over her body, concealing her entire figure. It makes her look like a blob of cloth, slowly moving across the ground. How she sees out of it is one of life's greatest mysteries.

Personality: Simma is rather odd. She moves to the beat of no drum. She does things impulsively and without any sort of remorse. Though, that doesn't mean that she is some sort of anti-social nutcase. She just does things. She doesn't follow others, and tends to wander off when meant to sit still. If someone tells her to do something, chances are, she will most likely not do said thing.

Besides the entire Worst-Teammate-2k16 thing, she still likes animals. That doesn't mean that she's unwilling to gut them, or kill them, however. She just prefers animals to people. Especially goblins. She doesn't really like other goblins, despite the fact that she is one herself. She's just... odd.

Past Life History: In her previous life, Simma was a farmhand who had worked with animals. She was born into it and lived such a life until she was stricken down by a bull.

Level: Lv. 1
Talent: Taming. Simma can tame wild animals and then order them around. Success really depends on what animal. A horned rabbit would be somewhat easy, but a wolf would just eat her.

Name: Atlack
Gender: Female
Appearance: Atlack's skin is a normal swampy green with strange tinges of red thrown in. Its not like there are spots of red, or that you can really point out where the red is, but you defiantly know that there's some red in there. Probably. Also straggly lengths of dirt brown hair hang over her eyes so it's sometimes hard to tell where she's looking.

Personality: Atlack is naive and kind of blunders through things, trusting them to turn out well enough in the end. It hasn't worked very well for her so far but that hasn't stopped her. Whether that's because of some sort of innate tenaciousness or stupidity is yet to be seen. Sometimes she mistakes her name for the word ATTACK and that makes things more difficult.

Past Life History: In her previous life Atlack was goody two shoes fitness junkie that went to the wrong neighborhood and tried to interfere in something she shouldn't have, resulting in her getting shot and dying.

Level: 1

Talent: Endurance: Atlack isn't stronger or faster than anyone else, but she can keep going for longer and can take two punches instead of one.

Skills:

@Mae You may normalize your breathing! Glumwort is a god in the making. Absolutely hilarious. The only thing that bothers me in your CS is her talent. What my layman mind got from it is that her psychological advancements and verbal retorts work more often than they should. So its borders between some sort of power of suggestion and influence? Did I get that right? If so, definitely accepted.

@SilverDawn Simma is a doll. I have to apologize, but I've decided that everyone can only play as goblins. At least, for now. Otherwise, everything else is all good.

@Peaceless Yeah, I just wanted to imagine what he looks like. The only reason I didn't allow images at the start is that most will undergo various physical transformations. At one point, when your forms have reached some sort of stagnation, I'll let you guys choose your appearances.

yep, she's "good" with social situations, so she usally gets what she wants out of a social interaction (also, making NPCs cry. yay!). Is she accepted?

Also, goddamn, I've been hounding some irl friends to play Symbaroum for months, so I am ALL ABOUT that goblin life. You've come up with a great premise and some interesting mechanics, so it's no surprise people are into it :D

Something smells...

Name: Stinkbomb
Gender: Male
Appearance: Stinkbomb is alligator-green with smooth green skin and a wild black mane of hair that stands all on its own as though he had survived an explosion. His arms and feet are wrapped in brown cloth and he seems to hunch over like an ape, resting his weight on his knuckles with the rest of his weight upon the balls of his feet. His eyes are yellow and often wide and alert. He also tends to wear a large grin on his face as though he's up to no good. It tends to disturb others for he can be pretty crazy.

Personality: Stinkbomb is rather energetic. He appears to have limitless energy as he can always be seen running around, screaming, howling, and yipping like a crazy goblin. He is prone to drooling, and will openly burp, fart, or scratch his bum and nethers in public. He doesn't like to wash, thus his name Stinkbomb. The goblin reeks, which is actually a defense mechanism against predators.

Past Life History: Stinkbomb was a US soldier serving in Iraq when he was blown up. It actually explains a lot about his erratic mannerisms.

Level: 1
Talent: Dragons breathe fire, and Stinkbomb breathes...funk. His breath smells like death and he can breathe out his funky breath up to three meters. The smell keeps most predators with scent-capable abilities at bay, and if directly caught in the fumes, the smell can be overwhelming. It makes it difficult to breathe, makes the eyes water, and the smell is just suffocating. It can even linger in your clothes!
