The Citadel's Artifactorium
1800 hours
Sunday

A shadow crept along the walls , as if alive. The Lord Templar guarding the "Artifactorium" didn't noticed anything out of the usual. They seemed to be talking about a certain Mage that was caught training with swords , when the shadow materialized and slashed their necks before they even had time to move a hand.
A Mage soon came out of the shadow. He was dressed in a long robe and was something close to 40 years old. He waved his hands and small orbs of darkness exited both of the dead guards and hit the door again and again until it finally felt down on the ground with a loud *BANG*.

More Templar came out of the halls attracted by the sound. The Mage pointed his finger towards a few Templar and suddenly their eyes turned red. They stopped in their tracks and turned towards the other Templar and attacked. The Mage entered the Artifactorium , a place where Artifacts from before the war that couldn't be destroyed were kept.
Many artifacts were kept there but the Mage simply ignored them , searching only for one. After a few minutes , minutes in which the Templar he "persuaded" to join him fought everyone that tried to enter the Artifactorium , he finally found what he was looking for. A small necklace that was broken. Four parts were missing from it but he didn't care. He looked at them and said " Good. Only four more parts and it will be done , master. " with a grim smile on his face.
The guards that protected him were killed and more guards poured in the room. He laughed at them and as the Templar approached him ready to kill him , he merely touched the ground and shadow tendrils came exited from seemingly everywhere at once and killed all 15 Templar. After that , he simply was gone before any other guards could come.

Gun'tar woke up with banging on his door. The hulking soldier woke up and went to see what happened. His shift only started at 0900 and it couldn't be that time yet. He opened the door and saw four Holy Templar in full armor and weapons at the ready , he quickly saluted them and said " Morning ! Gun'Tar Mala'korai ready and willing sirs ! " with determination in his voice. If the Holy Templar are here something bad happened. That or he was sentenced to death for no apparent reason , something that sometimes happened to non-humans.

One of the Holy Templar approached him , saluted back and said " At ease Mala'korai. His Holiness Gregory Ascended Templar Markovic requested your presence in his office. We are here to escort you to him. So , please. Dress up fast and let's go. ".
Gun'Tar was stunted. If The Ascended Templar wanted to see him something really , really bad happened.
As he was dressing up he tried to ask the Templar what happened but only received answers like " We don't know. " or " Holiness Gregory Ascended Templar Markovic knows. We are sent here to get you and the other senior staff " so Gun'Tar didn't learned much.

He took his best cloths on and walked to the Ascended Templar's office which was in a tower that overlook all the Citadel. It was the first time anyone that was not a Holy Templar entered it. The tower was guarded by more than 50 Holy Templar , no one could even approach the tower without being seen by a guard. As he approached the office , he saw the Holy Templar arrive with more soldiers and , he was surprised to see that , even some Magi that were chained and had muzzles on their heads to keep them from casting any kind of magic were brought towards the office.

William was sleeping on floor as always because the prison cells never had beds. The floor was wet and he was shivering. If it wasn't for his stronger metabolism ( because of his race ) he would've caught a cold long time ago. Maybe one that could end his torture.
He slowly woke up as he always did at this time of the day and started to exercise. He looked around and said " Nothing. Always nothing. ".

The prison cells were covered in such a way that no sound could enter them and of course , they couldn't see anything outside of their cell. Everything was black all around. No light , no sounds , no nothing. From what he heard in the library , where he was allowed to study along side other Magi , many Magi go mad and kill themselves either by banging their heads on the wall 'till they crack their heads or by attacking guards. The only time he saw light in his cell was when food was brought to him and that was once at night , so even that light was dim one. When transported to the Library , all Magi are muzzled and tied with anti-magic chains. They cannot see , nor hear anything around them until they arrive at the library where they are allowed to stay for 1 hour and then they are sent back to their cells.

Suddenly a small light appeared on the wall and then the wall opened. Shielding his eyes from the light he hears a voice " Face towards the wall ! If you mutter a word or move your hands , I'll cut you to pieces Mage ! ". William quickly understood what happened. He was sentenced to death. Complying to what the guards said he was ready to accept his fate.
He found himself hit by sword hilt as soon as he turned his back to the guards.
He woke up being dragged on the floor by two guards. He couldn't hear anything around him , nor he could see or move. " Probably muzzled and chained " William thought.
Soon the dragging stopped and he waited for the blow to end his miserable life.

The Citadel's Prison Cells Death Row
0500 hours
Monday

Aelar was training his sword forms as well as he could barehanded. Ever since being sentenced to death row about a week or so ago; he figured there was no point in hiding the fact he was training in the sword, as this was the case he woke up early to train everyday. Losing access to the library was horrible, but Aelar was aware of the risks when he started training and was prepared to deal with them.
"I am doing the movements correctly but without an actual weapon...", He muttered as he did the 20th repetition of the movements. Whenever he wasn't resting he was training in the sword or doing simple exercises. He originally could only train for about two hours before fainting from overexerting his body, he now was capable of training for about two times as long. Though this was his max limit as he had only recently begun strict physical training.
"Huh?" Aelar detected the wall moving and he knew it wasn't time for his meal of gruel to be dropped off. "On you knees hands against the wall, say a word or so much as move a finger and you're dead!" Ah so its finally that day, the day he gets executed. He gets hit by some blunt object in the back of the head and everything went black, well blacker. He woke up in the dark being dragged by his legs somewhere.

The Citadel's Barracks, Private Quarters
0500 Hours
Monday

James's rather restless sleep was interrupted by a loud and representative fist slamming at his door. He raised his head to check out of his window, only to see he wasn't due up for a good hour or two. Before he dropped his head back into his pillow, he gave the offender a few choice curse words.
"It's too early, piss off!"

Instead of doing as he asked, however, he was met with more, louder knocking. Groaning slightly to himself, he pulled himself from his bed and opened his door, standing in nothing but his trousers. He was met with two Holy Templars in full armour, staring at him with tense expressions. His eyes narrowed at the sight before he spoke in a irritated tone.
"What?

"His Holiness Gregory Ascended Templar Markovic has requested your presence in his office. Please come with us."

James however made no move to leave his quarters, instead opting to lean against the door with his arms crossed.
"What does that asshole Markovic want from Me?"

The Templar on the right shifted in anger and the Templar on the left, stood further forwards, growled at him.
"His Holiness, Ascended Templar Markovic is a respected superior, and shall be treated as such!"

James, however, was unfazed by the display. He looked directly into the Templar's eyes, his blood red irises piercing deep into the other man's mind, even through the helmet. His hands clenched around his upper arms but he didn't get up. Even so, the two Templars felt a small chill run through them.
"Don't start with that crap. Holy Templars or not, I won't hesitate to hand both your asses back to you on a serving tray. Now, what did he want me for?"

"His Holiness didn't tell us, only to collect you and escort you to his office."

"Fine. I'll need 5 minutes."

With that, he pushed the door shut and began to get dressed. Looping the blood red scarf around his neck, he went to grab the dark gold arm plating but stopped for a second. Ever since he was arrested, it felt too light without the Ward of Light. Shaking his head, he put on the armour and strapped his swords to his waist before he stepped into the hallway.
"Let's go."

As James and his escort drew closer to the tower, some of the Holy Templars guarding it nodded to him as he passed. Although technically a higher rank than him, they recognised his skill and his position as an instructor, especially since the show he gave when he challenged 4 Holy Templars to two back-to-back, 2-on-1 duels and left the arena with barely more than a scratch. It wasn't until he was inside the tower and drawing closer to the Ascended Templar's office that he noticed the small group of mages, all bound and muzzled. He frowned at the display and made a step closer as one of the escorting Templars was about to shove one to the ground until...
"That's not your place to get involved, Instructor"

James growled at the man, but he couldn't act. He was confident in his skill with a blade, but fighting 50 Holy Templars was out of the question. Instead, he gave the other man a scathing glare and continued on towards the office, his fist clenched. "Whatever the asshole wanted me for, it had better be worth it."

Elyra

Elyra was almost ready to leave to go to the medical ward where she worked as a nurse. As she was about to put on her cloak when she heard pounding on her door that startled her. Elyra opened the door to see two Holy Templars there.

"Good morning" Elyra said smiling. The Templars looked at her and one smiled and the other smacked him upside the head. Elyra fought the smirk that threatened to show itself. She covered her mouth and faked a slight cough to hide it.

"I'm on my way to the Medical Ward. Can I help you?" Elyra said putting her cloak on and locking her door. As she pulled it closed behind her she was told,

"His Holiness Gregory Ascended Templar Markovic has requested your presence in his office. Please come with us."

"As you wish." She replied. Elyra nodded and headed towards his office wondering what was going on. It was somewhat unusual for medical personnel to be requested to His Holiness' office. Once they were in the tower and closer to the Ascended Templar's office she saw a small group of mages, all of them were bound and hooded. She kept her eyes forward not wanting to dwell on that too long.

Darius Montgomery

0500 Monday Prison Cells

Darius gripped his dark shaded throwing knife in his hand, then relaxed his grip slightly. He normally never grew nervous, but he did not feel especially comfortable in any type of cell. On mission or off. His current contract was for a man being held in the Citadel Prison and he had been paid quite a hefty sum for the contract to be completed by ending this mans life. The employer was a wealthy man from quite a ways away, and apparently the man he was being sent to kill had stolen something quite valuable from his current employer. When apprehended, the man broke the trinket and later had escaped. Only to get caught once again after escaping to the Citadel. Now while the man was currently rotting in Prison, his employer had somewhat mentioned that the trinket that the man had broke may or may not have been something quite legal and that if he was to request for the prisoner be transferred he would have to show proof of the mans crime. Obviously this could not happen and if the man had squealed about the rich man in a plea bargain, this would lead to some unfortunate consequences. So...assassination it was.

Lucky the wealthy man knew how to get the attention of "The Shadow", the most infamous assassin to date. Strings were pulled for a meeting, money was exchanged, and voila here he was. Darius wore his usual black outfit, with a bow strung around his shoulder, a quiver on the back of his belt, and his throwing knifes hidden across his body. He also had a small pouch on his right hip, containing many first aid items. Darius clung to the shadows, moving silently behind and past guards, not killing or alerting anyone. He was paid to kill the man, and no one else. Darius wish he had more to go on than a physical description and a name, but he never wanted more details than necessary.

After searching almost the entire prison, Darius found his mark. He was sitting in the corner of his cell, holding his face with his hands, sitting down. He could tell who he was because the description he saw fit the photo he was given. Darius kept his head on a swivel, making sure no one was around, took a half second to aim, then threw a hidden knife forward, sending it soaring and landing with a thud in the mans skull. He died instantly.

Darius smiled to himself, then threw in the cell his calling card, the targets name on a small white card x'ed out in red.

Jamie woke with the dawn, like she always did. Her body simply seemed to know when the sun started to rise, peaking over the horizon. Just a little bit before 0500 hours, Jamie was dressed, and ready for the day, beginning to head out for a little practice, when two Holy templars practically crashed into her as she headed out the door of the barracks.

"oh, I'm sorry!" She said with a friendly smile, reaching back to tie her hair back with a ribbon, "I wasn't looking where I was going" Jamie seemed way to bright for the early hour, cheerful and clearly in a good mood. It wasn't often she was in a bad one. She studied the templars, and her smile faded slightly, "Did you wish something? Where am I required? this wasn't the first time she'd been given orders randomly, and she knew it wouldn't be the last.

While Jamie was a bit of a rebel, she generally did what was required of her. She might be free spirited, but she wasn't a fool. "His Holiness Gregory Ascended Templar Markovic has requested your presence in his office. Please come with us." Jamie blinked, frowning slightly, but nodded, and wishing she had more of a chance to look more professional then just looking like she was going to do some training, she followed the two templars, wondering just what his high holiness wanted with her. Had she done something wrong? Sure she was a little reckless, but she hadn't done anything bad lately.

The Citadel's Private Quarters

0500 hours Monday

Razer decided to try reading a book he brought from his home city Varilo, but within minutes of wriggling around on his back he gave up on it. Standing up, off the sub par bed, he rolled his eyes towards the ceiling once again for his poor luck.

It pissed him off that he was a Prince! Total Royalty! Yet, he was given such a crappy room for his stay at the Citadel.

Growling, he opened the door to his room, and was almost struck in the face by a fist.

Razer instantly jumped backwards, in a crouch, paws held in front of him ready to fight.

In front of him were three Holy Templar, all staring at him like he had gone mad.

Razer eyes showed all seriousness and focus, then it hit him like a sack of hammers. Oh.... Totally embarassed at the Holy Templars seeing him like this, Razer scratched his head and kept his eyes on the floor.

"I, uh, didn't notice you were there, holy ones...." He said in an attempt to mollify them.

All three of the Holy Templars seemed to relax at the same time and they all smiled at the same time.
The one in the middle, slightly taller than the other two at his side, spoke up."Nevermind, that. You have more important stuff to worry about, Templar Razer. His Holiness Gregory Ascended Templar Markovic has requested your presence in his office. Please come with us."

Razer went from being relieved to almost shivering. What? Mr. Ascended wants me... It can't be bad stuff. It just can't...

Noticing that the Holy Templar were still waiting for a reply, Razer slowly nodded his head, still trying to convince his brain that it wasn't bad news. That he wasn't going to be sent to the chopping block.

Even so, he managed to keep his head held high as he followed them out and shortly thereafter arrived at the Tower.

He didn't even give the Holy Templar a second glance but even so in that first glance he knew he saw 65 of them. The chained magi, didn't get a second glance either, as he was so preoccupied with his own predicament.

The Citadel's Tower
0600 hours
Monday

Gregory was a tall human. Around 2.3 meters exactly with long white hair , showing his age. His toned muscles could be seen as he didn't wore an armor like the rest of the Templar but wore a thin black vest and a white shirt on him and trousers that had mud on them. If one could guess , he traveled all night to come here. Big dark circles gathered around his eyes , yet another sign that he didn't sleep all night. His face didn't betrayed no emotion at all , as if nothing happened. Gregory looked outside his window at the people that were brought by his Holy Templar. A small look of disgust showed on his face for a second and then was gone , when the Magi were brought in.

His office was a big room , full of books about combat and the Magi. There was a small layer of dust on some objects of the room , showing yet again that the office was not used for more than a few days. Some papers were on the desk and he looked at them again and again and again until he finally sighted and nodded his head at the Holy Templar that stayed at his door waiting for the order to bring in the first soldiers and Magi.

William , Aelar , James , Gun'tar , Jamie , Razer and Elyra were brought in the room. Gregory stood up and with the sunrise at his back made a big shadow over them , as if he was the largest man in the world. He looked at Gun'tar and smiled.
" Gun'Tar , my friend. Sorry for the rude awakening and my cloths. It happened exactly the same for me. I traveled from the Capital all night to get here. "

" Your Holiness ! It's an honor. It's been...what ? 10 years since we haven't seen each other ? " said Gun'Tar with a smile on his face. Completely ignoring the others.

" You mean 10 years since you didn't want to get promoted into the Holy Templar. " replied Gregory with a frown on his face and then continued " Now. We have to hurry so I won't keep you all long.
I have to inform you of something. We had a theft. A burglar stole an amulet piece from the Artifactorium last night. I guess no one heard a thing about it. Why ? Because I have been ordered by the Emperor himself to not let this information to be spread.
Nothing is known about the theft itself. Only that the two guards that were protecting it died. Both had their necks slashed by a knife or a really sharp sword. That is the reason I brought you and all the others here. Even the...cursed Magi.
The Emperor gave me a mission. To gather by best soldiers , my best doctors and the most accomplished Magi and send them to the other places where the amulet pieces are kept.
"

" Oh my God...How could someone pass all our defenses , kill two of the Holy Templar , steal something from the Artifactorium and leave without getting killed ? It doesn't matter. I will accept this mission sir but where are the other amulet pieces kept ? " Gun'Tar said with a look of determination on his face.

" Alas...The other pieces are kept in the Wasteland. That cursed place. "

" What ? The Wasteland ? I...I accept nonetheless. I've been there before it became a wasteland and I'll venture there. For the Emperor. But why the others ? Why...the Magi ? "

" The Wasteland , yes. That's why I wanted you in this mission. You knew the place before it became a wasteland and the others ? They will help you finish the mission. Each of them has a particular skill that will help in this quest. As for the Magi ? Our Emperor decided in his infinite wisdom that they will help the mission by fighting the horrors of the Wasteland with their spells. Fight fire with fire said the Emperor. "

" What will stop them to run or to slash our throats in our sleep and leave us ? To cast their spells...they would need to be unmuzzled and unchained. " Gun'Tar frowned.

" Simple. Our state of the art explosive devices. They are based on an enchantment of a simple explosive powder. They work the same as our phylacteries only that those that are have it in their blood are "attached" to each other. If one of them dies , all die. If one decides to abandon the others , guess what ? They die. So...it's just a prototype for now but soon it will be made available to all Magi. It will revolutionize our Magi containment facilities. At first it will start with a headache and then it will evolve into a searing pain. What comes after is what I like the most...their hearts explode.
Now. Guards ! *10 guards entered the room* Inject everyone with the new explosive devices.
" a big grin appeared on Gregory's face.
Before anyone could do anything they've all been injected with the device.

" What...what ?! *he hurls one of the Holy Templars into a nearby wall and a *crack* sounds could be heard* I'm...sorry your Holiness. Now. Can we leave sir ? Please. I think we could all use a rest and time to prepare. "

" Sure. But first. Is everyone , ok with this ? If not...*looking at the Holy Templar , they all draw swords* it was a pleasure to meet you. Sorry but the Emperor gave this order , we cannot let anyone know what happened. Oh' and...unmuzzle the Magi to hear their replies."

As soon as William was unmuzzled he spit on the ground , trying to take out the metal taste in his mouth. " You...you...animal ! How can you d-- " before he could finish his sentence a Templar hits him with the hilt of his sword over the mouth and yells " Watch your mouth fucking Mage ! ".
" Fine. I'll shut up. I don't have a choice , do I ? Either I am killed in this Wasteland or I'm killed right now. I'm in. " said with clenched teeth. He knew he was surrounded and no matter what amount of magic will save him for his death. At least he could be out of the Citadel and into the world.

(after everyone will write this will happen)

As they turned to leave the room , the Holy Templar barged in with a man. They quickly saluted and said " I'm sorry for this sir ! We've found someone hide inside a Mage prison cell. "
Gregory looked at the man and nodded at the Templar to leave him alone " Do you not know who this is ? The Shadow. The best assassin in the Empire. Even the Emperor hired him a few times. So...Shadow. You are either here to kill me or one of the staff or you are just very unlucky. Either way. I think we may need your...expertise in this quest. *he explains the details of the quest that I just wrote and one of the Templar injects him with the explosive device too* In exchange of your services...I am prepared to give you 100000 EP ( the currency ) coins ( 100000 = more than the average guy makes in 2 years of constant work ). So...what do you say ? " said Gregory with a smile. He knew he had Shadow by the balls.

Darius Montgomery

Darius was in quite the pickle now. After he had completed in assassinating his mark, he heard noises coming from down the hall. While Darius did not feel like killing his way out, but now that he completed his task he did not feel very motivated. His life was based on his current assignment and now he did not know what to do. Darius opened the cell, quickly lockpicking the cell open, hid the body against the side of the cell with the door, and sat facing the back wall of the cell. When the guards came, unfortunately they came for his now deceased mark.

The guards came into the cell, and immediately knew something was wrong. Darius had two options. Fight, flight, stay the night. He chose the latter of the three. The guards escorted him to their boss, Gregory. He was suprised to be recognized as "The Shadow", but realized this could work out for him.

Darius felt like this man thought he had him right where he wanted him. So he had to show him what he was made of. He had no desire to kill anyone here, not that he any desire for anyone in this room to be alive either, and since he wasnt cuffed and wasnt a magi he had the element of suprise. Darius moved fast, faster than any normal human, and stood in front of Gregory. He looked at Gregory in the eyes, then spoke softly.

"I would gladly die of what you have injected me with, before becoming your bitch you little man. You are right, I have been used in service of even our emperor. I have skills, and know things, that would make your nightmares have nightmares. If you knew even half of what I knew your foes would be bent over your knees in a moments notice. I accept your contract, but I refuse the amount you offered."

Darius took out a small card and held it up for Gregory to have.

"The number on this card is my fee. It is much less than what you offered, but I do not charge more or accept less. It is the pride of a true master assassin."

Darius scoffed.

"I will be paid beforehand, not after. Also I will need to see the bodies of the two dead guards."

Elyra

Elyra had stepped back when they had come at her with a needle. "What's in it? It could be poisonous..." When the injection was shoved into her arm she hissed in pain as the fluid burned into her veins. Elyra was upset that this was not tested by medical before it was given to them. She put her hand on the afflicted area and muttered as bruising set in at the injection sight.

Elyra stopped to look at her companions in this adventure. There were a couple of mage's, humans, a half elf, a dark human, a gargantu and a kilgaren. It was a fairly diverse group. A moment later "The Shadow" appeared and was injected as well. The assassin was now part of their little band of merry men. She sighed and when she was allowed to leave she was so concerned with getting her equipment that she forgot to be grateful for the opportunity to get killed in the wasteland.

Elyra assumed she would have to carry or pull everything she would be taking with her. This was not going to be easy on her because she was small physically. At 5'4" 102 lbs a hard wind could blow her over. She wondered what she did wrong to get sent on this mission. Or, maybe it was her father who did something wrong and she was going to pay for it. When she got back to her room she sent a message to her father and let him know where she was going without giving any details of the mission.

They were supposed to be ready to go by noon and she went to her room and grabbed a couple of outfits that she could easily wear that would breath in the heat and would be easy to launder along the way. She also chose a pair of hiking/climbing boots that fit her feet well so as not to be too bulky. She grabbed a second pair of shoes for walking, hairbrush and a couple of personal items. She fit all of it in a backpack. She also picked out a couple of containers she shoved into it. She figured she would need supplies that she could get in the wild along the way so she wanted to be prepared. She put her bow and arrows over her shoulder and her slingshot in her pocket. Her cloak would serve a dual purpose as a blanket if it was needed to do so. Elyra also tossed in a few cooking items and a sturdy metal plate and utensils.

After locking up her apartment she headed to medical. When she got there she grabbed the basics. She explained what she could to the head of medical and deferred questions about it to the Ascended Templar's office. At that point her boss started handing her supplies. Elyra wished she knew if they were going by horseback or if they would have a pack mule or what. When she was finished packing only the essentials her boss took her to a late breakfast so she would not be leaving on an empty stomach. Elyra hugged her old friend and put the bags on a rolling travois pulled it to the meeting place. She was waiting for the others at noon.

The minutes passed as Razer was waiting outside The Ascended Templar's office and then brought inside. There too he had to wait and his body started shaking from his nerves.

At last, what seemed like hours of waiting were over as the Ascended spoke.

Except it was to the gargantu? Razer guessed it was, as he had never really seen one before, only heard of them from others.

As bad etiquette as it was, his father would have had a fit, and yet Razer still listened to the conversation between the two.

Razer himself had no qualms about it.I can easily die, from failing to listen here, and that ain't about to happen... Not to me.

He ran through what he learned in his head, quickly, he was a fast thinker, faster than some would think he was, based on his looks.

The gargan... and ascen.. said hi, blah blah blah... A very dangerous thief stole something precious from artifact place... We have to pick up the other pieces from wasteland... and WHAT?!

Razer was shocked at hearing the Ascended speak so calmly, saying that simply, 'I'll put a bomb in the magi so that if they run, they'll all be blown to bits.'

Before he could reject, the Ascended got someone to inject him with the 'bomb device.' It was his right paw and it burnt like there was fire burning him up from the inside.

After a couple moments of suffering the pain dissipated.

Razer struggled to control his urge to strike the Ascended, but he couldn't prevent his claws coming out.

With lowered eyebrows he glared at the Ascended as Razer waited impatiently and angrily for this to be over.

He turned to the magi, as he spoke up in defense of himself, before he was shut down by one of the guards. Normally, Razer would feel pity first for the magi, but his anger was too strong at the moment, it took control.

He stormed out, ignoring all his 'partners' in this 'quest.' He slammed the Ascended's office door open, Slashing it deeply with his claws as it swung outward. He glared around at all the Holy Templar, anger overcoming the fear he arrived with.

He made his way straight to his rooms and packed up his stuff. It included his weapons which he strapped to his back, as well as a large pouch he attached to a belt loop he had around his waist.

The pouch possessed, flint and tinder, coins from his home land, dried meat, some spices and even a small yet sturdy grappling hook.

Ascended you ain't got the right to turn others to bombs. I'll get you for this. He declared as he waited in his room with his stuff for the departure time.

Jamie

Jamie listened, watching everyone, and catching the meaning behind the wordsa, so that when they came to inject them, she shifted back, raising her hands, as if ready to right, but then she was overwhelmed and the needle was stabebd into her arm. She let out a string of curses that were very unlady like. When all the talking faded, she turned and said violently, "You have no right to do this. I have a family that relies on me to stay alive! I promised them I would, and so far I've kept that promise. I won't have someone turning me into a bomb, that will explode if I even have a shimmer of doubt. I'm human, doubt is in our nature!

Whatever, I'm going. Since I have no choice in that now"

She stalked out the room, fury radiating from her. She went to her room, packed up her clothes, the hunting and camping supplies she used when out on a job, grabbed her sword-although she prefered her bow, she was taking both. Sometimes you needed to be in close, and the bow wasn't good for close combat. She slamemd things, essentially doing everything she could to make a fuss, letting her anger out in such a way so she wouldn't punch the first person that asked her what was wrong.

With her gear ready, she sat down on the bed, and the tears she had kept at bay with her anger fell. She allowed herself some time to break down, before she composed herself and went about cleaning up, so no one would know she had broken down. Looking in a mirror, she knew she had let her hair grow out longer then it normally was, content. In fury she took the dagger she wore on her hip and gathering up her hair as if she was putting it back, she slashed above her hand, the cut hair flying everywhere as she let go.

she didn't care. Running her hand through her rnow cropped hair, she dislogded any loose strands, and considering herself ready, she went to the designated meeting area.

Aelar Starseeker

Being bound and muzzled there wasn't much Aelar could do when he was injected with the device. However as soon as the muzzle came off he was about to speak when the other mage insults the man known as Gregory and gets hit. Waiting for the others to finish Aelar decides he can speak, "You didn't have to use this device I would've agreed anyway, plus I was on death row anyways so my life doesn't hold much value. However I have a question, may I receive weaponry as my spells are not suited for combat? Also I would like to point out that the device reduces our loyalty to you and increases our loyalty to each other as we are in the same situation and you caused it." That last bit earned him a punch in the gut from one of the Templars. "Watch yourself you piece of shit." Aelar glared at him but stayed silent, getting hit twice in one day without being able to retaliate was enough for him. He was pretty sure he was chosen because of his training in the sword as the Templars were definitely aware of his lack of combat magic, as such he hoped they would supply him with weapons. He recognized two of the people brought here one was an instructor whom he had seen at the training field and the other was a nurse whom some of those who were paranoid about Aelar's healing magic had been brought to.

(Before anyone left the room)

Gregory smiled when the Templar and Magi were injected with the explosive device.
" Good. Now that you've been made obedient...it's time to tell you more about the mission. No one will know you have been sent on this mission , no one will no know that you are Magi *looking at the Magi*. So. You will be known as deserters and escapees 'till you fulfill your mission. Everyone will receive a reward if and when you return. The Emperor told me so himself. Even...*he pauses , sights and shakes his head* you two Magi. Even you two. From what I understood...believe me , it's hard for me to consider it myself. You will...be given a place to stay at the Capital where you will learn to use your...cur-- spells for the betterment of the Empire. In other words you will be free from the Citadel's prison. *some Templar already started making faces and whispering between them* Sush. If I even think of hearing a rumor of anything I've spoke in this room , I'll have your heads. No matter from what family you come from or whatever. " as he stopped talking the Shadow close distance between them. A few Holy Templar approached weapons drawn but Gregory made a " Halt " sign with his hand. He heard what Shadow said and laughed with wholeheartedly.
" I know about your reputation Shadow. *with a stern look on his face* You can't intimated me. *he put a hand on Shadow an a small electrical energy jolt exited his arm and entered Shadow's body ( nothing serious , just a small thing. Like...static energy but a little bit stronger. Not by much )* Don't look so surprised. I was put in this position not because of my great-great grandmother. I have my own enchantments *looking at James* unlike yours , mine come from the Empire not...Magi.
I see you are an assassin with honor Shadow. So be it. You will have half your payment now and half when you come back. As for the bodies ? I think I can allow you and that Magi *looking at William* to look at them. Between you two , maybe you can find something that we didn't find. Not that I think you will but call it a gesture of good faith.
Now. The rest of the details for the mission. As I said no one can know who you are or what you are. You will travel by foot until you reach the city of Milas. From there you will take a caravan that will go to White Mountain , The Bastion and finally The Field in the Dark Human lands. Don't ask my why someone would want to go there but...the caravan will go there.
"

(after the others said what they've said)

" It's for the greater good ! " he said as people started leaving the room. He look at the Magi that talked to him and said " I don't need your loyalty Magi. I need your compliance. I need to know that you won't kill yourselves and not fulfill your mission. As for weapons...you won't have any. You are a Magi and you have been sent to the Death Row. If you want weapons then you may ask your new companions for them but I wouldn't worry about that. You are needed to help that which Elyra here cannot heal by...her methods. "

Waiting for Jamie to finish her speech Gregory frowned. " I am your commanding office and I can do this and this was the order of the Emperor himself. If I had to choose the teams that would go to the Wasteland , believe me. I wouldn't choose any of you. Well...except for Gun'Tar. He is the oldest here after all. "

William had to say something about all this. " I guess not everyone likes your methods Ascended Templar. Not even your own. But *looking at a guard that was about to hit him* we Magi have to thank you for the opportunity to see something beyond this walls and as you said. We will be undercover so...we Magi won't be muzzled and chained like animals. I can speak on behalf of Aelar here , that we can at least enjoy that opportunity. Plus maybe we could spend the night on warm ground.
But I have a question if I may. I guess that this caravan won't take us to that town you said for free. There has to be some currency in the Empire , right ? I heard your Templar talking about it...so the question is. Will we receive some money ? Not us Magi of course but our esteemed non-Magi companions.
" though clenched teeth. He hated this particular Templar with all his guts. He knew he was the one that hated us more than all the others and this Templar was the one that didn't want them to have straws in their cells. He was the one en-charge after all.

" Yes , yes. You will. Now , please. Shut up. I can't stand the thought of hearing you Dark Human scum talk again. "

Gun'Tar just nodded and left the room when few of the others did. He went to his room and packed everything he had. It turned up that he didn't have much on his name even after living so much time but he took his prized War Hammer , some spare cloths , a big backpack which he filled with food and water for the road and that's it.
After he finished doing that , he started reading one of his favored book. " The Magi's Fall " by The Exalted One , The Emperor Augustus Maximilian ( yeah I know...roman name ).

[Before Anyone leaves the room]

The first thing James noticed was the rest of the people that Markovic had called for. Gun'tar, the deluded Gargantu loyal to the Citadel a fault. Aelar, the half-elf usually assigned to the Training Grounds until a sudden transfer to death row. Elyra, the elven nurse he had some semblance of a friendship with. Jamie, the hot-headed Templar with a sharp temper. A Kil'garen with a tiger-like coat. And what looked to be two mages he had never met before.

He didn't outwardly react much as Markovic explained the situation. He scoffed at the Gargantu's apparent shock that the Citadel had been breached, and his eyes narrowed at the slight Gun'tar made towards the Magi, as if they were cut-throat bandits. It was when Markovic explained the internal explosive device and called for the guards that he reacted.

As one of the Templars went for him with a nasty-looking syringe, James smashed his left elbow into the man's face. He stumbled back, and James took the opportunity to get behind him and twist the arm holding the syringe behind his back. There was an audible crack as his arm fractured and he screamed in pain, dropping the device before James pushed him away. One of the other Templars took the opportunity to tackle him to the ground before he could react, pinning his arm behind him and stabbing the fallen syringe into his neck. He growled at the pain and he tensed in pain until the guard released his arm and James pushed him off. The Instructor glared at the man with a look promising pain until he turned his eyes on the older man at the desk.

After Markovic explained the mission in more detail and some of the other voiced their complaints, James stepped up and leant heavily on the wooden desk, his face hard and his blood red eyes on fire. "I would say I'm not helping you, but I don't have much of a choice. Still, I have a demand. I want the rest of my enchantments back. You've just stuck a bomb in my neck and you're sending us out to on what could very well be a suicide mission you clear up your mess. There is no bloody way in hell I am going to leave at any less than full strength."

He straightened himself up. "Send them to the meeting place. I'll play your game for now, asshole."
With that, he walked out of office without another word and immediately went back toward his private quarters to collect what he would need for the journey. Grabbing what he needed, He decided to burn off the rest of his aggression at the training ground. Several battered sparring partners and even more destroyed training dummies later, he left for the meeting point.

Darius, William, Gun'tar, James and Elyra

Darius scoffed internally after Gregory finished. He had enough of this man's words and actions, and did something mentally that he has not very often. He prayed that in the future someone would give him a contract to take this man out. Darius did not trust him, not even a little. Everything about him screamed dishonesty and cruelty. Darius looked at William, and walked away. He was escorted to where the two dead guards were. Darius was fortunate that the guards had not been moved yet. His every move was being watched but Darius could care less. William watched him with curiosity.

Darius first examined the surrounding area. It was clear a small skirmish had taken place. No....not even a skirmish, simply actions were taken here. Darius got to his knees and sniffed the ground, trying to detect any odor. There was plenty of blood on the ground, and as Darius stepped in it he dipped a finger in it. He held it up to his face and examined his finger. Then he followed the trail of blood and dead bodies until he walked into place where the theft had taken place. Even more dead bodies were on the ground, blood everywhere. A few artifacts had seemed to had been broken, and so their mess was scattered around.

Darius walked over to where the stolen artifact was supposed to be and examined everything he could. Then he walked over to some of the dead bodies and patted them down, looking at their fatal wounded areas. When he was satisfied he stood up and walked out of the room. He walked over to William.

"From what I could tell we are looking for an older gentlemen, very powerful more than likely skilled in dark magic. On the ground, the pools of blood had a very putrid metallic scent, much stronger than how blood normally smells. Normally blood, if it has a scent, will have a metallic scent but it would be just that. This blood smells like eroded or rotten metal, and to the touch it feels almost burning like. Not enough to feel pain but you would know if you knew what to feel for. The wounds on the victims are very accurate. Too accurate for regular magic, meaning he is older. I would suffice to guess between 35-45. More than likely in his forties. It takes years of practice to be able to accurately use magic. I do not mean accurately as in being able to hit your target I mean accurate as in know exactly where to hit your mark and be able to do hit the same spot on over a dozen men at almost the same time. The wounds on the guards outside, they had slashed necks. At the angle of the wounds, it was clear he was behind them which means he may be old, but can move quite freely for someone his age. Gender I am guessing there is no clear distinctive mark for that. I would also assume that darkness magic isnt his or her only source of magic. Did you see the two guards that looked like they skewered each other? They had highly dilated pupils, and their eyes had an off color red tint to them."

William looked at the bodies and saw the distinct mark of Dark Magic in the wounds. Something was not right. There was no Dark Magic spell that could do this without killing the person who did the spell and none of the soldiers had the mark of draining upon them.
"My name is William. A pleasure to meet you? Assassin. Shadow? There is no Magic that could've done this. Not without seeing the Magi that used it among the bodies. I am a caster of Dark Magic and I know what I talk about. It's impossible to cast a spell this strong and live and as you suggested two types of Magic? It's also impossible. From what I gathered from the older Magi in the Library...only the Magi before the war could do that but the war was 100 years ago. So..we are either dealing with a group of Magi or...someone that didn't age for more than 100 years? Maybe a Life Mage could prolong his life but by 100 years? It cannot be possible. Not at all." Said William a look of hope(?) on his face but also a look that showed that he was scared.

Darius shook his head. "Just call me Shadow. And what you suggested is fine, but it can be nothing more than theory. We have nothing concrete that suggests the thief/killer prolonged his life. I am also in disagreement with you in the first thing you said. I believe sternly that darkness magic was used. However, it was probably very advanced. And I do believe he or she was older, so maybe he was taught. If that is true, then that would mean that this whole incident was given planned on the orders of someone else. That makes our job slightly more complicated. One thing is getting me though. I cannot make out the other types of magic used here. I am more or less used to identifying the harsher types of magic. What magic could be used so harshly that it could kill a man in such a way and it isn't darkness magic?"

Darius sighed.

"Ok we need to start moving out. Im headed to the group meeting spot."

Darius gave William a two finger salute and walked away. He arrived shortly later at the meeting spot and stood next to Elyra.

William nodded and was escorted back to his cell where he waited for the guards to let him go to the meeting spot. He had nothing to gather except his robe. He tried washing it in the water from the ground but without any light he couldn't do much.

He waited and waited 'till the guards escorted him, chained of course, to the meeting place. Almost everyone arrived there. He nodded at Shadow and saluted the others.
"Hello companions to be. I'm William and I'm a Magi" He said with a playful smile on his face.

Elyra waited and the others started to appear but they tended to give each other plenty of space. She also appeared to be the only one with so much stuff to take. The only bit of it that was hers was the backpack and the weapons. The rest was equipment she would need and medicinal ingredients.

She looked up and saw Darius coming towards them. Elyra glanced at him and said nothing.

Gun'Tar arrived at the meeting place and saw Elyra holding so much stuff. He saluted her and said "Hey there Elyra. Need help with that luggage? I have free space in my backpack and we both know I can carry enough." He said with a smile on his big face.

Darius looked over at Gun'Tar and raised an eyebrow.

Elyra looked at Gun'tar and said "I have to have as many medical supplies as I can take. There could be a lot of injuries. So I decided pulling the travois would be easier. I hope we have a horse or mule or something otherwise we will have to pull it, but thank you that is very kind of you."

"It's my pleasure my lady. You took care of my wound more than once, it's the least I can do. I've known the Ascended Templar since he was a kid, Elyra...he is not the one that allows Magi free. Something bad happened. Like really bad. You've ever read the story about his great-great grandmother?" replied the big guy.

Darius sighed mentally. He decided, when he realized that the woman next to him was their healer that he would try to stay next to her or at least not keep too far of a distance. He had his bow, it could work. But if he had to listen to painful stories the entire time, he may turn his arrow on himself. Not litterally but still.

Elyra nodded, "I did a long time ago." She caught the tension coming from Darius and smirked slightly. "Mr. Shadow? Are you alright? I think we are all a bit stressed about this. I know I for one am not happy about my person being stabbed by something that I know nothing about." She rubbed the bruise on her arm.

Darius instinctively touch the part of his arm where he recieved his injection. He rolled his shoulders back and cracked his neck. He looked at Elyra. Why does everyone need to know he is The Shadow? He had remained in the shadows for his entire career, and all of a sudden in one day more people than ever before now know who he is. Darius sighed mentally again.

"I am not stressed about any of this. This is just another job, with slightly more incentive."

Gun'Tar looked at Shadow and said "A job in the most dangerous place of them all. I haven't been there since before it was called the Wasteland. Back then...it was enough to not pay attention a few minutes on the road and you've ended up dead. Now? It's probably worse Shadow. Elyra. That amulet's destruction is what caused the Wasteland to exist. It was the source of the Magi's powers. You guys understand what would happen if the thief found the others parts and somehow made the amulet whole?" He said with a look of fear in his eyes.

"This place becomes slightly either more annoying or interesting."

Elyra shook her head. "No but I assume it can't be a good thing. Does it hold extreme dark magic or something?"

Gun'Tar shook his head. "That amulet is the reason why the Empire then called 'The Warrior Guild' appeared. The Magi used it to destroy Empera, (the capital as stated on the map) and it killed every single one of it's residents. That Amulet is what made them think they were "Gods". The reason why we annihilated the Magi threat in the first place. "

William had enough and interrupted Gun'Tar. "That's enough. You keep talking about us Magi as we are the lowest scum of them all. But...have you seen how you treat us? Most of us are starving or go stark mad because of your food and cells. You kill most of us as soon as we are born. You think we wanted to be born with magic in us? You hate us because we are born like this. I don't say that the Magi of old didn't deserve their fate because they did...but...to hate and exterminate us all because of what? A few of us were bad...a hundred years ago?!" William lost control of his voice and the last sentence was not spoken but yelled.

"Please stop fighting! This is not going to help any of us on this mission. I'd like to know how we are supposed to get back because what are the chances that one of us won't get killed? And if one dies we all die...." Elyra had to raise her voice to make her point and she rarely did that. She normally was not tied to a bunch of people in such a way and it was very upsetting to her.

Darius watched in amusement. He had no other words on the subject other than a single thought.

"You are both fools. To live in a world with clear danger, and to say that it is unthreatening is more than foolish it is suicidal. But it is suicidal as well to stand there and suggest that the clear and present threat is as dangerous as it is now not because of how people reacted to it. Simply put, mages have been abused but for good reason. But it started out badly on the non mages side. They reacted poorly. Letting people loose with that much power was foolish, and it is man's nature to abuse power. Same as any non magical entity."

Elyra listened to Darius and nodded in agreement. "I agree with most of that." Elyra smiled slightly. Who knew she had anything in common with the assassin.

"Good to see at least two of you are focused on the task at hand, rather than bickering over the past." All heads turned to see James approaching from the direction of the training field. He nodded to the assassin and gave Elyra a small smile before his features hardened again. His eyes traveled over the assembled group again before they settled back on the elven nurse. "Are you going to be alright? With all this? You're a healer, not a fighter..."

Elyra put on a smile and said, "I dont think we get a choice. I'd rather go and die on my own terms than fight with them here and be guaranteed death. I would like to know how I got picked for this mission." Elyra appeared to be disheartened. "I think it had more to do with my father than it did with me. He seems to get into rough spots, it's a talent of his." She looked at the travois and said, "We'll need to take turns pulling this thing. It's loaded down with supplies. Mostly medicinal and some cooking." She looked up at him. "How is that place on your neck where they stabbed it into you? They could have paralyzed you stabbing you there."

"It's fine." James rolled his shoulder, only to wince slightly. "Ok, maybe it's not. I might have aggravated it while I was training. I can survive for now, but I'll probably need it looked at before we get into any real trouble."

Razer took a couple minutes to calm himself. It wouldn't be good to meet up with all the others, while he had so much rage in his heart. He counted to 20, slowly. It was an old practice that he had started as a young Kil'garen. Thank everything that is good, that the counting always worked. Otherwise he wouldn't be fit to live life, much less run a kingdom back home.

Now calm, he took a second look around his room, making damn sure he didn't forget anything. There were his books, his mirror, a whole pile of clothes.

He doubted that this journey would allow any opportunities to look pretty or have leisure time so that struck out the books and mirror. The clothes well.... For the first time today, he actually looked at what he was wearing. He frowned at the leather pants and leather vest that he had slept in and was still wearing!

That decided it for him. He was not going to be sleeping in the same clothes, dangerous journey or no. Razer packed a set of clothes that were silk, red in color with gold embroidery, not caring that they weren't meant to travel in... After a few more minutes of hard deliberation he picked a set of dark green wool clothes and a set of light blue clothes that were made for swimming and running.

Putting all the clothes in a leather bag that he tied to his belt's right side, he turned for his door and left the room.

Still wearing his leather pants and leather vest, he made his way through the various corridors and hallways of the Citadel, on his way over to the meeting place. It was easy to get there as he had already memorized the route he would take.

Before turning the last corner, he pulled out his quarterstaff from its secured place on his back and used it as a walking stick. As he turned the corner, he started faking that he was limping, as he did his 'old man walking' impersonation-something that an entertainer showed him one day a while ago.

After limping about ten steps he saw the group all talking like they were friends. He smiled at that, and continued limping/leaning on his 'walking stick' as he approached.

Humans, a Gargantu, a Dark Human, an Elf. Never really been around a bunch like that before...He thought as 'the thought occured to him....'

Upon reaching them he greeted them in a rough grandfatherly voice, "You youngsters staying out of trouble?", he added a wink to the elf girl.

Jamie, use to sneaking about, had moved away when it appeared others were joining her. Apart from not wanting to be the first there, she wanted to know their thoughts without actually asking them. So she hid, staying as still as she possibly could, as she listened in, as the "team" began to come together. She was still furious about the bomb injection, and she was going to find a way to disarm herself, and soon. She listened to the chatter, frowning slightly. At the argument about mages, Jamie almost came out then, but she wanted still.

Finally though it was clear she was going to be the only one not there, so she made her way over, as if she were just coming up. But the first thing she said was "I have no problem with mages. Honestly, I've been treated better by them then I have my own superiors. As long as someone treats me like well, i'll treat them well.

Dying is not an option for me. So lets just do this mission and get back. I'd rather not go Ka'blam, if its all the same to you guys"
She looked to Razer, frowning slightly, wondering why he was pretending to limp, but not really caring. If it made him feel safer to do that, so be it.

"I'm best as an archer. I'm stealthy, I can track easily and I'm a great shot. My name is jamie. I'm not happy about this. I don't need incentive to follow a job through, so that makes me think these bombs are for something else. But we're here now, so I guess we should get going, right?" she shifted her bow, looking about at everyone, and she couldn't help but feeling like she was the odd one out. They already seemed friendly. And here she was, just standing about as if she wasn't welcome. She didn't feel like she was.

She gave a sigh, and looked away from them all, her eyes stinging with tears once more, but she refused to let them be soon, or to let them flow.

Darius heard when the one known as Jamie, and slightly cocked his head at her skills. He touched the bottom tip of his bow that was slung across his back and smiled ever so slightly. Then he returned to having a neutral facial expression. Darius was not one to boast, or rise to anothers verbal jousting but he felt strangley compelled to speak up now. This was new for darius, the last time he had spoken this much and honestly was.......huh...Darius couldnt think of a time.

Darius looked at Jamie. "The bombs are more than likely just a way for them to clean up their mess after we finish the job if we dont perform up to their expectations."

Darius took out an arrow and twirled it in his fingers.

"I also like to think of myself as an archer. Im stealthy, a good hunter, and a decent shot. You may have heardheard of me but I am "The Shadow". Most renown assassin in the world."

William's rage stopped when he heard the assassin talk , he listened to him and nodded. " You may be right Shadow. You may be. ".

William saw Jamie come out from wherever she was hiding and saluted her. " I am William. It's a pleasure to meet you , Jamie. Thanks for the restrained judgement on my kind. It...means a lot. " William never met anyone that didn't hated his kind and was moved by Jamie words.

Looking at Darius , William had an idea. " Jamie has a point here. We need to know our skills if we are to travel together. From what I heard from the guards that didn't know how to keep their mouths shut in the library...this Wasteland is a place of great danger. It will serve us well to know each others skill set before we leave. Linked in life and in death as we are...it may prove healthy to know that.
We already know what Darius and Jamie are capable of. What about the others ? I am a Magi and I specialize in Death and Black Magic. I have a small grasp of some basic spells but I wasn't overeager to learn too much , too fast. Those that know too much are " Exalted " as they call it. They are to meet be sent to another location for further training. I can be sure they don't as any other Mage would tell you. *noticing Razer for the first time , William introduces himself* What about you...Kil'garen or you James ?
" he paused and added something " By the way , Shadow...they will kill us even if we complete this mission , most likely. Freeing Magi from the Citadel is not something that the Emperor would want to be found out. "
