So kind of like the YA-10B? Sure, I can see that working. Might need some changes to the body for it to efficiently operate off a carrier, but it sounds plausible.

Yeah, strengthened internal frame and landing gear for carrier launch-and-landings, folding wings - maybe like an E-2, folding to the rear, instead of over the top - anti-corrosion finish for protection against the elements and an arrestor hook. Plus updates to navigation software etc for overwater flight.

The engines might need improvements too, I think, but the rest sounds good.

Well, the engines are the same as the ones used on the S-3 Viking, which is a carrier-based anti-submarine aircraft, so I imagine they could be adapted to the same spec easily enough.

But the Loaded weight of a Viking is more than the A-10 (Far more)
(Also, ignore the fact I double posted, my brain wishes to not recognize certain things right now, or work in general at the moment. I believe my facts are askew)

I don't understand your argument, or statement? It sounds like you're saying I said something wrong, but all I said was 'they use the same engines, one is maritime and one is land-based', which is still true. I'm confused.

I think Slyph meant that the S-3's engines are more powerful because it's more heavy fully loaded and it thus needs stronger engines than a fully loaded A-10 would need.
That, or I'm an idiot. The second option is definitely a possibility, in past experience.

Anyway, while I await a post from our remaining aviator, I think I shall unveil one of our next unlocks!
A newcomer to the Ace Combat scene, hailing from the Far East, introducing....

There's also the F-16 that will be unlocked, but who cares about the F-16? Everyone knows that's the first unlock, nothing new there.

A-10's Max Takeoff weight is (approximately, don't remember the exact number) 50,000 lbs
Vikings is (approximately) 52,000 lbs.

But again, brain being weird today. Still feel like its skewing facts :l

I never used that thing when it was first unlocked. While I did fly it the first time I played the AC series, I never flew it as first after that. Always waited for the later planes :P

The F-16C was going to be my main aircraft for the OADF section of the AC5 Let's Play that I was planning that never happened.

F-16's are like Vanilla Ice Cream. You know exactly what you're getting, and hey, it's still Ice Cream, which is always good. But there's so many other flavours to choose from, and most of them are far more interesting. You only ever eat vanilla if there's nothing else, or if it's got something interesting added to it. Which, in the case of the F-16, is the later or alternative variants that have cool things, like the F-16XL, or the Japanese F-2, or the Block 52+ F-16's that have better weapons, avionics, etc.

The F-2 is a more expensive, vanilla mochi ice cream. It's still the same vanilla ice cream taste, but it's got that really interesting, unique texture that sets it above classic vanilla ice cream and even other flavors for many.

Sorry, couldn't miss a chance to add to the whole ice cream metaphor.

As for why the Let's Play never happened, hardware issues. I didn't get around to getting a capture device before my PS2 controllers packed up. And I can't crack them open to try fixing them because after ten years of being clasped in my sweaty mitts the screws have rusted up, and I don't feel like nicking my dad's can of WD40.
