Dearoth - The homeworld of the species of Jerram. Derae - The center of the fleet, hidden in the outer solar system and built into the moon of a gas giant.
The species of Jerram have a long history of violence, everything forged in the crucible of war, under the hammer of weapons and men. Only recently they have managed a shaky, global peace under the unifying arm of the Hegemony. Originally, each of the petty nation-states of Dearoth maintained their own fleets and their own mining operations, but one by one they fell to the Sovereignity until global unification had been established. Now, an elected Sovereign watches over a unified planet, while the fleet itself maintains its own standing in the stars, separate from politics.
They have blossomed in their own solar system, even without the use of FTL drives. Though it takes years to travel back and forth between the various mining operations, planetary outposts, and moons of the Sovereignity, they have maintained a steady balance. With extensive asteroid mining operations, they do not lack for resources.

The Jerrak are an insectoid species, with fuzzy bodies, fuzzy attenae, and vestigial wings. They are dazzled by bright lights, and have two pincer mandibles set on their face, acting as a mouth.
War - War is viewed as an evil, particularly after the Unification Wars. The fleet maintains peace in space while the Sovereign and his ministers are charged with preventing any breakouts of war on the surface of Dearoth.
The Jerrak sport a healthy cultural diversity and, for a one-planet nation, a strong economy. Under the Sovereign it has flourished and just about any type of industry can be found somewhere on the planet. From the lowliest shrubbery designer to the highest of industry leaders, the Sovereignty is in the middle of an economic boom.

The Mandate are a faction of Golgotha remnants that are still loyal to the tenets of the original Golgothan faction that destroyed the Llyrian Empire. The Outer Alliance destroyed the original faction, but it (the Golgotha faction) fractured into smaller ones like the Mandate and the Concordance. The Concordance is allied with the Unity Accords now (though it's a sketchy alliance), but the Mandate isn't and is still being evil and spooky in their own part of the galaxy, presumably waiting for the right time to reembark on a genocidal campaign.
@Ozerath The overall situation is, indeed, essentially as it has been outlined above. The Unity Accords were formed by members of the Outer Alliance after the war was finished, whereas the Mandate comprises those Golgotha who have remained loyal to their old ideology. As such, the two factions (a rather broad term in the case of the Accords) are overtly hostile to each other in a Cold War-like fashion, with both either unable or unwilling to engage in direct conflict by this point, presumably due to the Mandate being weakened and the Accords being too fragmentary to act jointly.
Waiting on posts from a few people...the holiday got me sidetracked a bit but can't wait to jump back in and write some more. Where is everyone in regards to this RP? Still with us?
@WrongEndoftheRainbow You've got a good start, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that I had hoped at least one character nation would be a bit more peaceful-which you seem to have achieved, although a military dominance would suggest that force is the primary motivator for peace. For clarity sake, maybe you could pick another naming convention (my nation is a hegemony) maybe Dominion, Mastery, Sovereignty, Authority ? Also, I'd like you to include some background that incorporates other players (and by extension the galaxy) lore, for instance, how do they view the Golgotha and the destruction of the Llyr Empire? What are the Hekreans views on FTL bans? Planet Killing Weapons?
@Polybius I'll incorporate the rest, but as for galaxy-connection, they're an uncontacted primitive race without any sort of FTL anything. They won't even know any kind of other life exists until someone comes across them.
I could be interested in joining this, it still active? i know it can get qiet around or coming up to the christmas period.
Nation roleplays tend to move at a snails pace. If you have any questions or ideas feel free to ask. The rp is full at the moment, but there might be openings in the future.
This look quite fun, (recently joined but I have some experiences) would like to join in. Although I would like to know where to start.
Honestly, this might not be the best RP to join out of the gates. We are full at the moment but players usually drop off in these sorts of RP's so I'm still reviewing nation sheets. I'll let you know via pm.

How do we choose the planet we wish the meeting to be held on? Do we simply post the planet that our representatives arrive on, or do we vote for it here in the OOC?

I would assume IC? How would your faction react to a non-solicited claim by a foreign government?
