Name: Garrett Eudon (pronounced yew-din)
Age: 56
Gender: Male
Appearance: Click. Stands at 6'1 and weighs 216 pounds (mostly muscle, but a bit of flab in the gut region). Usually seen wearing a dark blue longcoat, the only time he takes it off being when sleeping or bathing. The longcoat also serves as a place to hide his weapons, with the collapsible blade stored inside an inner pocket and his holster being hidden by the coat. As he used to be a member of Parliament, he has the tattoo on his left hand, though it is covered in scars and rather faded due to his attempts to remove it.
Backstory: Garrett Eudon is an odd fellow, going from a trouble-making boy to a middle-class gentleman to an Enforcer and finally to a member of the rebellion. 'How did he make this journey,' I hear you ask? Good question.
Garrett was born to Simon and Gwyn Eudon, Simon being a low-ranking member of Parliament. Being raised in a respectable upper-middle class family was rather hard on Garrett, who disliked the idea of everything being handed to him on a silver plate as he preferred to work hard for things. As a child, he enjoyed sneaking off to the lower class districts and getting into trouble there. It was there he met his future wife, Aveline, whom he ended up marrying when they were both 19.
Now, you may think 'well, if he was a member of the upper-middle class AND his dad was in Parliament, why is he a part of the rebels?' Well, I'm getting to that. Anyhow, Garrett became a member of Parliament around 25 years old and set his sights on joining the Enforcers. It was around this time that his son, Winston, was born. Having a child would normally discourage someone from joining the military, but this only further encouraged Garrett to join them so he could better provide for his wife and son. He joined the military, rising in the ranks for an uncanny ability with a blade and gun.
Now, you may think 'well, if he's a member of the Enforcers now, how'd he join up with the rebellion?' Well, I'm getting to that. For the next twenty or so years, Garrett was a soldier in the Enforcers, and it appeared as though his son was following in his footsteps, which made Garrett rather proud. His son joined up with the military when he was 17, and Garrett couldn't have been happier. But one day, something happened: Garrett and his squad, including Winston, were on a recon mission. They were returning home, when they were ambushed. When the dust cleared, Garrett was happy to see that most of his squad had survived.
That happiness faded when he saw the corpse of his son.
Things went downhill from there. Garrett descended into alcoholism, leaving the military and spending all his time at home to drink. He barely talked to Aveline, and it wasn't long until a divorce was filed. After the divorce, Garrett started gambling. That didn't end well. After wasting most of his wealth drinking and gambling, Garrett moved into the poor district and stayed a sad, hollow shell of a man he once was.
'Wait, if he's all depressed and drunk now, how did he join the re-' I'M GETTING TO THAT. It wasn't long until Garrett heard of the rebels, though he paid them no mind. That is, he paid them no mind until they took the poor districts from Parliament. Garrett, tired of wallowing in self-pity and booze and longing for a new meaning to his life, decided to join the rebellion. After all, he wasn't a member of Parliament anymore, why not fully kiss that part of his life goodbye? So finally, Garrett the respectable, adventurous military officer was gone, giving way to Garrett, the snarky, bitter rebel.
Weapons: Collapsible blade (the blade can be collapsed down into the hilt for easy storage), and a flintlock. Here is a picture of the sword (
collapsed,
open), and here's a photo of the
flintlock.
Personality: If one could use a single word to describe Garrett, several come to mind, none pleasant. Sarcastic. Asshole. Prick. Old. Bitter. If those five words didn't explain what kind of person Garrett is, let me go into some detail. Garrett, prior to the death of his son, was very affable and kind, and liked cracking jokes and being social.
After that event, Garrett became cynical and bitter. He figured that after being a good man for so many years his entire life would just crumble, then he wouldn't be a good man anymore. He began rebuffing any kind acts, deliberately not helping someone when he easily could have, and just generally being an ass. His philosophy was as follows: "If someone pushes you down and another one helps you up, punch both of them and help yourself to their coin pouches."
But, the real question is, does he still tell jokes? Why yes, yes he does. But they're very dry, sad and cynical. Here's a good example of his kind of humor: "What did the boy with no arms and no legs get for his birthday? A bicycle!" Garrett will also make offhand remarks about the current situation, making jokes about the potential danger he's in and taunting his enemies to take them off guard. He also secretly enjoys bantering with people who can match his wit.
