His constant dream of being adored by his master and to reach the rank of Master Butler always motivated him to get better and work even harder day after day.
The dream was ruined from an unfortunate accident while teaching one of his younger siblings how to drive...resulting in his early death at the age of 22. However, the butler was luckily somehow chosen by fate and was resurrected at the Adventurer's Stop and Quest Cafe. Personality: Ladies of both old and young ages agree that Duke Indigo is a charming young fellow, though they've never seen him at a Masquerade before. Indigo is a loving, caring individual with a big heart and a humble mind. That's how everyone pictured Indigo before the incident. Frederick, if he ever shows what's under the mask, is an arrogant, selfish, and cruel young boy who is only in it for the money. It would take a stubborn person and a strong heart to really soften his ego.

Backstory: As a child, Frederick grew up with two goals in life; to become rich and help his parents out of debt. All the jobs he ever took on were either disgusting or gruesome, and he hated working for the higher ups. Especially Duke Indigo. Even though they were the same age and looked alike, they were nothing alike. Indigo was too nice, too caring, too self-centered. He used the taxes to help other places instead of his own, which pissed off Frederick to the point of killing him. No one needed to know he was dead; no, Frederick would fill in and pretend to be Duke Indigo for a little while, maybe until the Masquerade.

Personality: Khalid is a mellow man, but that doesn't mean he's shy or cold. In fact, he's quick to smile and loves meeting new people, he's simply more of a listener than a talker. He can, however, be persuaded to tell stories about his life and travels. Overall, he's very sweet and humble.

Backstory: Khalid is actually a Jinni. He is thousands of years old and has wandered the world, curious about everything and everyone. Eventually he started amassing objects he had collected over the centuries - including a lamp he had been shoved in for a couple hundred years - and has become a bit of an antiques dealer, along with trading other more normal items (spices, clothes, trinkets, etc). He has been doing this for some time now (of course, changing name every so often to keep off suspicions). He tends to give his money away to charities or homeless people since he really sees no need for it. Sometimes he will buy himself something nice, but aside from clothes, he doesn't use it much. He does his job more so to meet people, see new places, and, pass on trinkets to those who might appreciate them.

Backstory: Echo is a mermaid enjoying her Wander Year : a year's time when mermaids are allowed to leave the sea and live as a human before returning home to live out the rest of their lives at sea. On the advice of others in her pod she took many gems from the ocean floor and various shipwrecks in order to fully enjoy everything the human world could offer in comfort during her Wander Year. Many have tried to pry information from her, where she comes from and where she got her hands on such high quality gems so quickly, but Echo enjoys being mysterious far too much to reveal anything. Rumors circle about her but many have written her off as an empty-headed childish girl who is living off of daddy's money, although guesses abound as to who exactly her daddy is.

He loves to flaunt around wearing his signature color of red and accenting it with a white scarf made from what appears to be the skins of multiple snakes. To any onlooker, he'd just pass as a paler-skinned caucasian male, but to any who care to get close enough to see his more subtle features would notice that his ears are slightly pointed at the tips.

Stride, on the surface, is a carefree and fun-loving guy. Sarcastic at heart, and quite the interesting man. If one was to look below the surface, they'd see the inner workings of a trained villain. This man will stop at nothing to bring out the inner pains within you if he needs to get answers, be it killing your family with a spoon or ruining your chances of never being a registered sex offender. Crossing paths with this man out of anger, greed, lust, or even sloth would end up with you in the middle of an alley with the imprint of a cane left on your cracked skull.
Backstory :
Growing up in the slums of a poor city where racism ran wild, Stride was often a target for being a halfbreed, where his mother and father were of different races, and as such had a life of pain and torment. Despite this, Stride managed to get a foothold within his community as a small scale blackmailer and framer, starting out with smaller scale jobs and eventually escalating into his meeting with one of the aristocrats in a different city, named Yashar. Yashar had brutally murdered a man when Stride brought that man to him, and instead of threatening Stride with taking his life if he spoke about it, Yashar took Stride under his wing and helped mold him into the craftiest son-of-a-bitch you'll ever meet. Through Yashar, Stride escaped the poverty of the slums and made it to the middle-class of the city where Yashar had raised him, which was a nice change of pace. He later took up a criminal name to protect his identity if it ever was at stake, which was the Bloody Blackmailer. Eventually, he was assigned by Yashar to attend a masquerade, where his skills of framing and blackmailing would come in handy as he needed to obtain some information from another official in the city.

Personality: Perhaps the best word to describe Ara is serene. When she is with her third cousin and best friend, Karl of the Feldings, she seems to be a completely different person, snippy and challenging.
Backstory: Ara was no one, not even a footnote in history, soon to be forgotten in time, until Gran-Earl Karl of the Feldings. Karl, at the age of 15, wished to trace back his lineage. In his studies, he found that his great grandfather banished his cadet brother, who escaped with his family to the Kingdom of Afterclaw and became the Reidenbergs. He soon established contact with the family, and became fast friends with Ara. One of their favorite games were extreme dares. Karl, having received an invitation from the court of Afterclaw to attend a masquerade ball, dared his cousin to attend in his stead in a roughspun peasant's outfit, as an insult to the posh practices of nobility.
