@Aether SpawnApproved.
Would Doom Slayer and Doom Guy be two separate entities? They don't have the same story at all, really.

No, I believe they are the same person. Doom Slayer is just what the demons call Doomguy back in the day, before they trapped him. He was then found by the UAC and so on.

But didn't the litch or whatever give him his armor while he was trapped in hell? That wouldn't make sense if it was his uniform in the first games.
<Snipped quote by Spinosaurus>
Well... we aren't sure as of now. Truthfully, we don't know that much about Doomguy's personal life before the events of the games. The litch person you speak of, it's actually known as the "the wretch", probably a traitor to Hell and the Demons.
However, while the demons' scriptures claim that the armor was made in hell, closer examination reveals English text and even logos for human manufactures, suggesting the armor was actually made on Earth, but somehow came into hell and was perhaps given to the Doom Marine then.
Again, we simply don't truly know at this stage. Perhaps if a sequel is made, we can get more info. This is all that we really know of the Praetor suit as of now.
Edit: It could also be the same Doomguy character we see in the original games, since according to texts he has "traveled through time and space", but again, it is simply not confirmed. For now, I think the two are the same person.
<Snipped quote by Lmpkio>
I've heard that theory. Not sure if I believe it or not. Sounds plausible, though.
<Snipped quote by Spinosaurus>
Plausible yes. Confirmed? Not yet. We need a second game filled with enough backstory to connect the dots and confirm Doom Marine's origins.
Still can be used as a valuable character for a RP though lol
<Snipped quote by Lmpkio>
You can have doomguy, by the way.
<Snipped quote by Spinosaurus>
Nah I'm good. As much as I want him, I want to be more diverse with my next character.
But speaking of characters, what have you decided to choose?
@Aether Spawn GOTTA GO FAST
@Lmpkio I believe that all of Doom's protagonists are actually separate entities, except the one in the first two games.
@Lmpkio Correct. Doom 3 effectively retconned the first two games, then DOOM retconned that. But I think we all agree that the Doom Slayer is the most badass one yet.
Doom 64's protagonist may also be a different one, and Brutal Doom's one, who probably isn't canon.
